The staff were very knowledgeable and honest. I was looking for cards that I could potentially grade and add to my psa collection. I went to buy a card and before I did the staff member pointed out a scuff I wouldn’t have noticed till I got home and got a good look at it. I always appreciate the honesty ended up purchasing a different card and a booster box. Love the staff here!!! Will definitely be back!!!
I’ve seen this place grow for the past few years and I gotta say it’s been doing well as time passes. There are literal haters in these reviews that don’t know how to run a business and are salty crybabies that don’t respect how great this shop has become. Staff is chill and super helpful and the owner is pretty funny and cool dude. Overall this shop is a 5/5 hands down.
My boyfriend has taken me here so often lol he loves it I love yo see him opening up and meeting new people hes really into learning new style of card play and loves to learn from the friendly staff and the even friendlier prices. And this year its all yu gi oh!!!
I was able to make a kids birthday with items from here. I shopped here 3 times and had a positive experience each time. The only issue I had is I felt like I was annoying the staff asking how much each item costs such as box sets and sleeves but they were all knowledgeable and helpful. Price tags would help but I know the prices change often according to different factors so I understand why there are none. However, Im not going to just ask for random, RNG, booster packs that may not be worth the price tag without asking the price first. Minor issue, but still a great experience each time.
This place is really cool inside, but Id be careful when selling any of your card collections here. They offered me 340 for my whole collection including Pokemon and magic cards plus some miscellaneous Pokemon stuff. I just recently sold just my pokemon collection for 625 at Forbidden games. Im not sure what the reason is for the major difference in price but Forbidden games said one of my cards was worth 350. Just be wary when selling stuff to Oblivion.
The store has a solid selection, 10/10 for the actual product carried. But almost every single item is priced at a scalpers premium for the most part. Do your research before shopping around here is my advice. For instance $80 for lunch boxes that are still available at retail price through Walmart and Barnes n noble makes it tough to support local.
Best card shop in Tampa! Great Staff, found everything I needed and will definitely come back. They host tournaments and have many tcg products available. Board games/figures.
Staff was amazing!!!! Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was nice. Place was super clean and organized. They are willing to buy your cards and drive amazing bargains for their cards including individual sales. Went there with a friend of mine and even he loved the place. Will be visiting again and hope many others do too! :3
They had a good selection and knowledgeable staff. Prices are a bit higher than tcg player though. When new release items are more than msrp I already know everything will be higher than it should be. They have a decent amount of bulk but dont let you go through it so unless you know what specific card you want they cant really help you. I dont know every cards ability or strengths and like to go through them to find something I didnt know I needed for my deck.
Masks are absolutely required jsyk. Pretty clean game shop.
First time here today, and I felt welcomed by the nice staff. Huge variety of MTG cards, and overall cool atmosphere.
The staff is very experienced and they know what they are talking about. best customer service ive had in any card shop.definitely recommend this place
Very terrible experience and no customer service! I was first ignored as I walked in AFTER (I) greeted both associates behind the counter. As I continued to look around the store they both were absolutely unprofessional and whispering to each other as they were eating their Chick fil A and not offering any help. I felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed! Completely do not recommend to anyone and I will never be back. As a returning customer this is completely unacceptable and if this were my store front, I would be very upset knowing that’s how my store is operating.
Love going to different card shops and this is by far one of the best in florida. The man behind the counter I spoke to had to be one of the most knowledgable and just downright chill card shop employees ever.Came in looking to get back into Yugioh, and he had no problem answering every single question I had, even going as far as showing me things in his own collection.Asked if they had the cards to build me a budget deck that was fun and he took the time to do so.This was also the first shop Ive been to in a while that was actually willing to buy cards off me hastle free. Without some unnecessary computer selling process, waiting on the yugioh guy to come in in a couple of days, or limiting buying due to covid. On top of that their stock was great. Literally had everything for not just from Yugioh, but magic and pokemon too!Not big on writing reviews but my experience here was just too good!
This place is great. Even amidst the pandemic they have remained open to order and pickup cards. This small business is a great ace to when we get back to a sense of normalcy. The owner is nice and friendly and reasonable in his pricing. The staff that work there are always kind and courteous. I have been going here for years and will continue to do so.
I walked in with a hand full of PSA Graded Starlight Rare cards. I simply just wanted their opinion and asked if they could take a look at them. He responded “No problem man I can do that.” We conversated while he was looking at the cards and everything was going fine until he made a insulting comment regarding one of my cards, stating “no one cares about the particular card I had.” After the gentleman was done looking at the cards I said thank you and he handed the cards back over. After I received my cards, under his breath he said “that’ll be $20 for the information” I was totally caught of guard and was not expecting that and felt obligated to pay as I had no choice, but was not informed prior to handing the cards over to be looked at. After trying to resolve the issue they threatened to call the police after they charged my card just for them to look at the cards and tell me to hold onto them longer for them to be valuable. The whole process of them “analyzing” my cards (6) of them took about 5 minutes and then they had the audacity to charge me $20 before tax? Did not give formal paperwork, nor a straight answer to what each card was valued at, so not sure what I was being charged for. I was totally played and never informed on the service charge and if that’s something they consider a “service” they need to re structure their policy’s.
Store was cool but probably won’t be back pretty much offered me bottom dollar for my cards based on all tcg prices even people with 0% sales and then gave me like 50% for trade in at that and then went with market on the stuff they were selling I understand it’s a business and they have to make money but seems a bit unfair buying off all prices for your cards then market on theirs
First time going and I definitely enjoyed my time. Had everything I was looking for and plan on coming back for the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament?
Felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Will never come back.
Could not shop because mask was requiredI will just shop at another LGS that doesnt turn away non masked customers.
Great place to play card games n video
Went in to make a purchase. Spent over $150 there yesterday spent another $180 today. When I mentioned I was charged $10 more for one or the items the employee said the price went up. I accepted this until I saw another one of the same items on the shelf for the price I paid the previous day. I asked if he would honor the price he said no. I asked if someone else tried to buy it would they get the price thats on the sticker and he just says heres what Ill do and peels the sticker off. At this point I got annoyed and went to leave the store and he calls out throwing a tantrum wont help he was being super disrespectful will not go back to this location.
Military veteran with service related ailments so I don’t wear a mask but they wouldn’t sell me any products do to me not wearing one. Even if you’ve been vaccinated they still require a mask to sell products yet half the people playing weren’t wearing one. Also upon getting there and looking at many products I realized they are over 30% marked up and over priced on almost all products
It has almost all my cards that I need for any of my collection boxes too but I buy singles and they are extremely affordable
This small shop remains after all this time, and while its an interesting shop, its small and obscure location and poor clientele (though they do make a marginal attempt to record thieves) make it a destination to avoidHighly recommend that you take your gaming business elsewhere
Mind blown! Says my 10yr old. Love the selection. Super nice people
Ive come in here a few times with my boyfriend and they literally never greet us or ask if they can help us with anything, the one time my boyfriend did ask about a product they told him to look for it himself. The place was pretty clean and they had the products they say they sell but they need to work on customer service skills. They lost a valuable customer because this man has an addiction to buying magic cards.
Five stars because the associates were nice and they have a large selection of cards plus supplies for card games, as well as other types of games, such as board games. I cant speak for how the crowd is as Ive never been there until today, and theres no hanging out allowed right now due to Covid-19. It seems like it would be a nice place to play some games though, with plenty of room.
I like the place been there a couple timesI recommend them to my friends
This is THE card shop you need to visit in tampa. The guys here are always kind and helpful and will happily help you with all your TCG questions and needs. The place is clean. They are always stocked with items. Lol no they didnt pay me to post this, im just a customer who loves yu-gi-oh and will always come this store. Hope they open tables up soon so we can all return to playing our favorite games with each other. Highly recommend this place over any place in tampa.
Friendly staff. Would recommend to friends and family.
First time going here and let me say I wasn’t disappointed! Get selection and bought a vivid voltage booster box with great pulls! Pulled the chunky vmax! 🤟🏼 Will definitely be coming back!
Definitely not worth the time if you are looking to purchase anything. Shops like this are part of the scalping problem in trading card games currently, with newly released products at extremely inflated prices that are above average market price. There are many online options available that will offer you a more correct price on any product that you may find here.Editing this now before the owner comments:Also bold of you to assume we get everything at distributor pricing, we sometimes buy at full retail from other reputable stores and resale for slim margins just to have the products for our community. This is a direct quote from a response to an older review. A 200% markup is not slim, nor does it help get any products into your communities hands when you take them from other local stores. This is EXACTLY what scalpers do..........Just trying to educate the public, and those who may need it.Edit 2: If you made it this far, and you havent read the businesss reply, take a moment to read it and it will further validate this review. The shining fates ETB that is mentioned in the reply was quoted to me for $150, which again, is a scalping price, but it doesnt end there. Another prime example is the 25th Anniversary Oversized Card Binders. Your price is $30, which an employee verified. You can buy them at any Pokemon selling retailer for $10 or less each. Also, you are quick to call out other Scalpers but anyone scalping knows that a card shop is going to have markup, so they arent really shopping there. Not that it matters but, I want to collect shining fates un-opened products, not scalp. Hence why I went to a card shop looking to spend the normal markup... and also why a 200% increase has made me realize that this business is NOT good for the TCG community and people should be warned before wasting their time.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great selection of current TCG merch, some single cards in store, LOTS of stuff for sale on their site. Hard to spot on your first visit. Use the secret staircase around back.
Horrible experience, prices are Scalper prices AT MINIMUM. Horrible for a card store considering the fact that they get it at DISTRIBUTOR PRICES which is cheaper then retail. Examples: 1 PACK of shining legends for $20 ( you can find Pin collections on eBay for $30), hidden fates tin $60, and the Charizard one is $70. ( you can find them on EBay for $30). Even the Detective Pikachu boxes are over priced, 3 packs for $25. Horrible store, much rather buy it from a scalper who doesn’t pretend to care for the hobby also employees are rude, not eager to answer questions considering the fact that nothing is labeled. Not coming back again. Don’t waste your time or money on this store.
This place is very helpful and has great staff
If your looking to try and sell cards here dont waste your time. Showed them 50 holographic and over 600 basic pokemon cards and they offered me $95 for the entire collection. I obviously declined the offer. Went on there website afterwards and there selling just one of the cards I had for $200. I have 2 of the same card in my collection. I understand they need to make money but that profit margin is astronomical!Update: Since posting this review I put all my holo cards on ebay and have made $830 on just 10 cards. Take the time to list your cards cause game shops are a scam.
Had a really good to chose from from the 3 top card games and had people ready to help!
Huge selection of Pokémon, magic and yu-gi-oh cards. Knowledgeable guys who work in there. Good experience visiting the store. Highly recommend if looking for cards.
Closed till 9 Aug due to employee getting COVID?
Prices are higher than people reselling and this is supposed to be a local card shop 😂. Never waisting my time here again. Im not talking just a little mark up either. Everything is triple price from a normal card shop. Top Loaders $7.50 plus tax for 25! You have to be desperate to shop here! Go down the street to Oldsmar for normal pricing.
Went in for some old Yu-Gi-Oh cards and was pleasantly surprised to find they had each one. Excellent customer experience, and they will be getting all of my card business going forward!
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good prices. Nice little game shop
Really cool place! Cards for so many games, figures, shirts, collectibles and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Love the response 😂 so the line you were going with is you charge your customers more than anybody else so youll have products for them?? By the way your great pre-orders were awesome for Champions path... Only what $90 an elite trainer box I believe?? I mean great business plan... you have the highest price out of a the LGS but use my post to educate please. I have never paid your prices and have never gotten one of these resealed or any other scare words you used boxes if youd like you can give me one of those almost QUADRUPLED mrsp hidden fates etb and Ill help you look up real prices on stuff 🤷 Update: called today because pokémon HF elite trainer boxes are being sent out so I thought why not give them another shot... They have them... Retail is 49.99.. Oblivions price: $179.99 😂😂😂 street price isnt even that high. The 3 pack mew pin collection for $200 is pretty comical as well.. a set of BOTH mew and mewtwo sealed is max $130 on eBay.. you guys are the worst. Ive had to stop myself from laughing everytime Im told a price. Stop milking the community. This review is off of the price points in the store.Every time Ive attempted to find something here, if they have it MINIMUM at scalpers price, they change almost double for sealed pokémon on release... I thought card stores where supposed to support the community not exploit it.From reading the other reviews its all about money here. Id honestly rather try my luck at Walmart at least I know the price will be consistent and employees wont be googling to see if it went up a $1 before they sell it.
They have a bunch of cards in stock and they support Weisz Schwartz which is amazing!
Always seem to have what i need. Always coming back for more 😊😊
Great place to play commander on Saturday
Way Over priced. Rude. Will not go back
Awesome experience the guys were super nice, upfront and proffessional.
Great staff always happy to see customers and make sure you have a great experience at their store. Very knowledgeable about all products for card gaming.
This is one of the best card shops for yugioh, magic, and Pokémon, plus more. The guys there are very knowledgeable and pleasant. Very nice selection of cards.
Amazing staff... Very informative.. Made me feel (even though i had no idea) that my questions were worth asking.. And felt great with how i was received
This spot seems pretty solid first impression. Just went in and picked up a few cards. There was a different game than I play being played when I arrived so the store seemed very in tune with that game. That’s not a bad thing I mean. I have to get back for an FNM soon
Oblivion games is everything you want in a hobby shop. They have a great selection, great quality of cards, and a level of integrity that you rarely see in businesses in general. I went in there seeking to get started into Pokemon, I was willing to buy booster boxes, I wanted to jump into the game and be competitive asap. A booster box of pokemon sword and shield rebel clash is a high value item, Oblivion had several in stock when other didnt, but more importantly instead of just making the easy sale of a box to me, I was referred to the pika- rom preconstructed deck which is of a much lower cost. This meant something to me, rather than, make the higher value sale, the employee guided me in a direction that better suited my start, I am just getting into the game, it would be easy to suggest the contrary. The act of doing the right thing when no one is looking or expecting, thats integrity. Not only are you going to find competitive prices without shipping delays, (especially on highly sought after boost boxes like rebel clash) youre getting honesty.
Awesome spot cool guys at the store if u buy more then 50 bucks u get a free OTC pack
Great owner and great staff. I was able to get all the cards I needed without any hassle. The staff answered every question I had and made me feel like none of my questions were dumb. It took me about half an hour to an hour to decide what I should get and they were attentive, professional and assured me that I was fine and that they were there to help me. If I could give more stars I would. This establishment is amazing.
Frenly and beutiful
Friendly s taff
Around the corner from my house, go here all the time for magic singles . Good staff and great selection for mtg. Shop smells funky at times, kinda normal for a game shop .
Very competitive prices, welcoming environment, and tournaments are held for most of the popular trading card games. The owner is a tad awkwardly gay, but i think it adds to the overall ambiance. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Not looking to help anybody, I would suggest calling first to not waste your time.
Employees look like they hate their jobs. Most of the time they ignore my questions or answer like 20 seconds later. The people working there also never get off their phones and they OVERPRICE EVERYTHING.
Smaller shop but more than enough room to fit the typical tournament crowd. Very chill atmosphere, allowing for all sorts of fun. The community here looks out for one another and thefts are rare. The staff knows most of their customers by name. One of the best spots for card games in Tampa Bay.
Good and knowledgeable staff.
Tournaments all the time, lots of space for it, too. A couple of free tournament nights each week. Cool people.
The place is great, people are welcoming and knowledgeable. I got exactly what I needed.
Great place to visit. Very helpful and friendly.
Love getting to come here and hang with people ive come to call a family away home. If youre new you are welcomed with open arms and friendly faces. The staff are all really nice and know about every product they sell in the shop. The tournaments are competitive and great fun. All in all a great shop to spend time in with your friends!
Oblivion Games is a rare store. In my experience, a game store will lack either space, air-conditioning, or a friendly community. Oblivion has all three. Its got a lot of Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh, but theres definitely a Magic presence too. I played at a Smash Ultimate tournament and while there was an entry fee it wasnt outrageous. Definitely will be returning for another weekly.
Awesome comic store. Always an event you can attend here and kids can go to. Diverse group of people every time. Wish I lived closer so my kids could attend more often.
Owner and staff was cool. I had some cards to sell and owner took the time to go through every one of them and gave me a fair offer. Will definitely be going back if I find anything within this niche
Horrible customer service. Literally told me to google their prices of individual cards. The workers were more interested in talking to their friends than helping me find specific cards. Very rude! Will never be back.
I drove all the way from Orlando to sell my Yu-Gi-Oh collection. I only really brought in a bag of hollows and rearer cards. I felt it was a very low offer for what I just brought in with just a quick look through of what I did bring in while still having a couple hundred in the car. Im homeless and need cash fast but politely refused the offer knowing I could ship off a smaller stack for much more. The store was a bit hard to find and not in the best of areas judgeing from the surrounding areas. I wouldnt recommend this place to sell anything unless u just dont care what u get for them. It also felt crammped inside even though it was mostly empty at that time.
This place is stellar. Its located in a beautifully ornate labyrinth of stores all of which define the melting pot that is America. Oblivion games is more than generous with prize support and the employees are top of the line. The entire time I felt surrounded by some of the grooviest cats in Tampa. If you have time after playing fnm get a Cuban sandwich downstairs and end the night at the Jamaican club across the street. Stay safe and good luck!
I play the Pokemon Trading Card Game and am very disappointed at how Oblivion handles their tournaments. I have placed first at two of their events and due to a reporting error on their end, I have received 0 championship points for either of them. I was also not offered a refund for either event after spending my time and money coming out to the store to show my support. I will not be returning and recommend others second guess which store they attend tournaments at if they are actually interested in receiving points or fair treatment. This store is also in a very unpleasant area and would not recommend going there in the evening.
Does not know how to keep track of inventory and will sell you cards they dont have in stock
Great workers and regular attenders who foster a fun and friendly gaming environment. I love the place so much Im always willing to make the hour drive out there even though there are other shops much closer to where I live.
Store is very clean and organized. Everyone is nice and welcoming. They help you with anything you need.
Always friendly people at this establishment. Ive been to a few other places that do the same kind of card games, board games, etc. and this is by far the best Ive experienced. The people here are like family, they will help u with anything u need, whether its the staff or other people in the shop.
I went for FNM and I was the only one who signed up. There were 30 to 40 people there, but they were playing pokemon. I went back the next day top play commander and again was the only one there for magic. Everyone was playing pokemon again. Good place for magic cards, but not good for playing magic.
Very nice experience. Thank you
Plenty of room to play games. nice people, great selection of accessories and products. Very nice staff.
✨ O v e r p r i c e d ✨
Terrible shop. Basement dwellers everywhere, apparently no one uses deodorant. Overpriced.
Definitely better then Game Academy. I dont fear my cards Getting stolen. Prices are awesome as well
Great employees who are willing to help you with whatever you need and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely the place to go if you want to relax and have fun with friends or play in a local tournament.
Do they buy Pokémon cards?
Nice selection of cards, not in the best area, not the most professional and welcoming staff you will find. Overall decent store
Unfortunately, location makes the place unappealing. Upon walking in, I did not feel welcome by the players. Employees make it seem like they need to go out of their way to help customers. We were told that a structure deck at the price of $25 was the best price you could get; however, the same structure deck everywhere else was the typical $10. My first time visiting will be my last.
My second visit here, will be my last. At a pre release a group of friends and I played flip it or rip it and one grown man was offended that we were ripping our own cards that we payed for. We did not ask anyone else to participate. I have the disposable income to do this, and its not posted anywhere that you cannot. This along with the size of the store and store appeal will make this my last trip to this place.I dont expect any retailer to tell a paying customer what they can and cant do with purchase product.
Honestly the best card shop yet. Owners are super chill, Wi-Fi is lit, and their merchandise and decorations are out of this world. Tournaments are lit too
Great store, I went in my first time to buy some singles and both the staff as well as other customers were super friendly. I am just getting back into Yu-Gi-Oh and they answered many of my questions about the tournament scene. Apparently there is an unspoken war between this card shop and another which I feel has swallowed up the majority of reviews. I do not wish to be apart of this drama however I will say that out of all the card shops in the area (and I have been to them all) this was the most welcoming environment that I have ever been to. I will be going no where else other than this store.
Very nice community. A fellow mtg player has given me useful cards. Very kind staff.🙂
Friendly, fun, accepting, and respectful. Couldnt had asked for better service. And great deals as well!
Its really fun, employees are nice, tournament is well structured (Yu-Gi-Oh)
Not only does Oblivion Games surpass its competitors, it exceeds above them. While parking is an issue, it is not a flaw directly of the store, which boasts a great, strong playerbase who is friendly, the coolest store owners around, and an overall cool, and lax environment to appeal to not just card game players, but gamers and anime fans as a whole. Its also located in a plaza where other great stores and shops exist, so while you can drop a son off, you can go ahead and purchase some nice meat or dresses, something for the whole family!
