Went in for a scheduled appointment at 1:30, oil change and rear brake pads. Was told it would be 1-2 hours so I waited in store. Car did not move to shop until 2:30. 5 hours later I get my car back and the screeching from braking hasn’t changed at all. Not done with sensibility to time. Please be more punctual and time-sensitive.

A year ago took my Toyota Tacoma for an oil change, workers stripped the threads on oil pan so now have plug - new oil pan way to costly. Today had an appointment that I man 4 days ago. Called after I had dropped off the truck - said the oil I requested they were 1 quart short. - Mind you I told them which king of oil 4 days ahead. He suggested using another kind they had full in stock. I asked cant they get the oil from other stores etc., would cost extra they said! This store has lost my busi ness. My mechanic is literally right across the street, but I liked PepBoys because they treat the military with 10% Discount. This veteran (USAF) will not return to that store (actually 3rd incident, this one, WOW). Excuse for the worker - I didnt take the appt call! No, but you have the computer in front of you.

Dont trust them if they give you an appointment for inspection and you do not have much time to get you inspection done, they will keep you waiting for 1 week and will say they cant do the inspection and you need to reschedule again one week later because they are short staffed.

I dropped off my vehicle at 11:30am today for a noon appointment for a clutch issue. I was told I would be called when they diagnosed the problem. I got a text message from them that said to call before they start anything, I called and I was told the system is messed up and they havent looked at my car yet. 5pm comes around, still no call, I called them and was put on hold for 12 minutes then I called right back and Omar, I think his name is, was looking into my issue and was going to call me back in 5 minutes with a price. 20 minutes later l called back and the phone keeps ringing no one is answering. Very disappointed

Edited: The store manager contacted me, and offered to make this right, which I appreciate. While this was an unfortunate situation at all, the resolution is a positive outcome.The employees at this shop are very friendly, but I’ve learned that’s because they’re up selling you — after bringing in my vehicle to diagnose a strange noise under the hood following some routine maintenance they had performed, I was told that a brake job was absolutely the source of the sound and would fix it. Nearly a thousand dollars of unnecessary brakes later, the sound wasn’t fixed — and a more trustworthy Pep Boys location confirmed that the rattling was due to a simple heat shield the mechanic had forgotten to clip in correctly during my previous visit. AVOID.

Needed to get tires on my wife’s car in time for her to work the same night. Looked at/spoke to 4 or 5 different places. All either didn’t have tires or were booked a week out. Came to Pep Boys after making an appointment online the morning of, and they had the tires on that night. Everyone was really friendly too. Took a little bit of time waiting in line at first, but I think it’s just because they’re making sure to help everyone as best as they can.I live near about 15 different shops, but I will definitely be taking my car here next time.

Dont ever go to this place for any work on your carThey dont even know how to a simple wheel alignment. Everyone knows you gotta start with the back tires in an AWD vehicle to get the wheels properly aligned. However, here they think if your back suspension isnt adjustable they dont even touch the back tires.......first off my back end is adjustable and like I already said even a basic mechanic knows you gotta start with the back. Well thanks to them my two brand new cooper tires are shot now I need new ones. My back driver side tire had a full 1.4°toe to it somehow. Glad I wasted money on the life time alignment because Ill never be back there again. Wasted 123.99 each for the back tires literally had them put on an hour before I got there and they are completely shot. And another 194.39 0n a lifetime alignment plus the 338 I paid Dunn tire to fix their mess, and that doesnt even count new tires.

My father had purchased a tire from them a month ago and it started to have a slow leak. We brought it in just so they can look at it and fix it (no big deal). Knowing that its a quick fix we waited. Two hours go by and nothing just employees standing around on there phones. Asked how much longer and the employee acted irritated and said probably soon. Waited another hour and still nothing. We gave up and ask for the keys back and found out they LOST THE KEYS!! Waited another 25min for them to find our keys. They gave us a lot of negative attitude like it was our fault they lost the keys. WORST CUSOTMER SERVICE! NEVER AGAIN! Whats a company with out positive customer service!? Do yourself a favor and just go to another part store

Never will go here again. Brought it in for possible starter issue. They claimed even after it sitting all day there was no problem. I picked it up and brought the tech out with me and it took 9 sec to turn over and start... Definitely a problem. oh well another shop who discovered my start was bad replaced it and now it starts fine. Also they were supposed to tech my powder stearing and come to find out when I called today to see what the pressure out put was that NEVER tested it and said there is no.way to look at the pressure, well there is a kit online for $100 that says other wise include 2 other shops that are willing to test it. I will not be going back

Everyone is nice and they do the work with no problem. However they are not fast and not in a endearing why. I make appointments sometimes a few weeks in advance... It means nothing. I sat in the cold uncomfortable waiting room for no less than a hour before they even brought my car in. Once the car was in the work was preformed in a reasonable time. I got four snow tires mounted balanced and installed along with a state inspection, All done with in a hour and fifteen minutes. That is a acceptable amount of time even speedy. Again I must say everyone is nice, the work is done properly and efficiently. The problem is scheduling, managing walk ins and overall time management. Every time I go in it is something, incorrect availability of parts, wrong appointment information, and horrendous schedule management. I have been to other pepboys and they are not like this. For some reason management seems to be a miss form corporate oversight. I dont blame the ground level employees (the ones you see and deal with) I dont know who to blame, I dont work there just try to use their service. I would recommend this store based on work but would not recommend actually using them. Its unfortunate and I will be looking for another place to do routine service, they just dont care about your time. I am not saying this after one bad visit, this has been a constant characteristic of this store. If I show up on time I would expect you are ready to do the work on time as well.It is funny that places that value your time have nice waiting rooms suitable for extended waits although you dont need it. But on the other hand the more uncomfortable the waiting area the longer the wait time.

Omar made me an appt over the phone but never put it in the computer. Told me it was not his fault. He then did not know if he had the correct part ordered for the job that needed to be done. I needed an engine mount repaired and the part is a torque strut mount. He saw the word strut and did not think it was the correct part when it was. How can a mechanic or manager not know this? I ended up going to cicero pep boys who had the part and did it the same day. Ridiculous.

We have been taking our vehicles here since we moved here 6 years ago. We most recently had an incident on our way home after they inspected one of our vehicles. They apologized profusely and fixed the damage that was caused without hesitation. They also ended up finding the problem weve been having with a weird knocking noise (no one has been able to figure it out) and offered to pay for the part and wed pay for the labor. When we went to pick it up they covered all of it and continued to apologize. The customer service is always amazing but I was shocked at how they all handled this whole scenario. The manager, John, and Corey were so extremely kind and caring. I cant express how grateful I am that they handled the situation the way they did.Thank you PepBoys!!**also my husband says it runs the best it ever has now!

The employees are polite, but they like to tell you that you need repairs when you dont. They exaggerate the condition of your car to make it seem worse than it is and to pressure you to let them do the repairs for a ridiculous price. Edit: I recently went there twice for repairs, which cost me ~$700 and ~$500. Then, I went for my NYS inspection and they told me I needed repairs for ~$1400 to pass. I took my car to a different place for a second opinion and my vehicle passed (only needed new windshield wipers). Heres just one example - Pep Boys said my front bushings were bad and that one was actually ripped or torn. This other place said they were both fine. Absolutely fine! I will never be back here and I will be sure to share this experience. If you are female or are not car savvy, they will seriously take advantage of you.

The last visit was handled better but at times I have been given an attitude with my service. I have road hazard protection on my tires, but someone did not remove sensors when changing tires & they ruined my tire pressure sensor system. It no longer works causing my tires to go too low undetected.

Awful service. The clutch cable on my vehicle broke and I went to get a part from Pep Boys. The man in the parts department told me that he would order the part (because it was not in stock), that it would be delivered the next day and that he would call me when I could pick it up. I did not receive a call from them the next day and when I called back, the part had never even been ordered at all. The manager was helpful explaining that his employee did not do his job properly and made a ton of excuses for him when he found the note the employee left about it, but did not offer a viable solution. This failure to communicate on part of the staff at Pep Boys caused me to miss an important meeting while having to wait on the part I immediately ordered from another, more reliable, business.

My husband and I are from Ontario Canada and were on vacation heading down to Kentucky to see his dad, when low and behold we broke down at a truck stop on the I-90... We had to call a tow truck and not knowing the area, we were worried we would be stuck in Syracuse for the night... We had a young man tow us to the Oswago Pep Boys service station, because he was not familiar with the area all, 5 hours later, our truck was fixed, and to be quite honest we thought for sure we would be hosed for hours of service... Seeing as we really had no other choices... But these guys were the nicest people we could have ever had the pleasure of doing business with... They only charged for an hour service... And gave my husband a discount ( maybe felt bad for us lol)... When all was said and done, we thanked the mechanic and he shook our hands and wished us luck on the road. Truth be told they could have charged us whatever they wanted, and didnt.... Honest bunch of guys and we are thankful for their honesty and hard work to get us back on the road... Thanks a bunch.. from the stranded Canadians and their dog 🤗

Bought a warranty for four tires for my 2014 VW Jetta at one of the NC locations. Got a flat in NY & called the Erie blvd store to get the tire replaced. They claimed they didn’t have the tire so we had to take my car somewhere else. They did nothing to make it right so buying the warranty was essentially pointless. Never going there again.

Pep Boys is the worst. Ive owned my car for 2 years and brought it in for a simple lube/oil/filter. When I went to pick up the car, the check engine light was on for the first time Ive ever owned the car. My wife brought in her minivan around the same time. $1200 later, she had more issues than when she first brought it in. Pep Boys wanted to charge another $1200 to fix these other problems. When I called to share this pattern of troublesome interactions with their business, the manager hung up on me. Avoid these hacks at all costs and save yourself time, money and aggravation.

Took my Chevy Cruze about a month ago to have it serviced for a OBD II light on (was the only option in the area since most places were booked and didn’t have time to wait around). Charged me over 100 dollars to have a diagnosis done on it. 3 codes appeared involving the EVAP system but the shop claimed there was nothing wrong with it. They only changed the gas cap which looked flattened but wasn’t the issue. The OBD II still kept coming on after being looked at and problems got worse. No smoke test was performed at all even though it should’ve been done to diagnose the problem and fix it. This business truly rips people off and I highly recommend you go to a trusted service center or do it on your own. Like Valvoline, they suck!

Pep Boys did a nice job getting my car evaluated in a timely manner (I called on a Saturday at 10:40am and they had me in at 11:15am). They also were honest with the result of the evaluation.I went to Pep Boys with a power steering fluid leak in my 2004 VW Passat. Bill, the service desk technician at Pep Boys, made me aware that the cost would be an initial $29.00 for a fluid evaluation. After the evaluation, Bill made me aware that I had a couple of hose clamps that were loose and that his mechanic had tightened them for me. The total cost for the work was $37.00 with an oil dye universal charge which seals the hose clamps to the coupler.All in all it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend them in the future. The technicians were honest and cooperative which made for a smooth transaction.

Ive relied on Pep Boys for a few repairs, mostly tire related, for the past few years. I had my brake pads done this fall, and the cost was about what I expected. Today, I dropped the car off to have the tires swapped out for the spring, and I told them that the brakes were making some grinding noises, so I expected I would have to get the rear brakes done this time around.They called and said that the brakes only needed to be cleaned, and the total cost would be less than $100 dollars. They could easily have given me new brakes, charged me for it, and I would have been none the wiser. I greatly appreciate their honesty and efficiency. Im going to Pep Boys for all my repairs.

I set up an appointment on Thursday online to have two winter studded tires installed that Saturday at 9 AM and nowhere on the site does it ask to specify what type of tires services... I drop it off and let the guy know that Im looking to put the two studded tires in the front and taking the two all seasons that are in the front now and moving them to the back. He never even looked up but acknowledged me and said to give them three hours. Already Im a bit annoyed but never the less Ill make it work. Three hours pass and not a word. I call and call and call but it keeps ringing just like it had while I dropped the car off. One more hour passes and I decide to go and have a look for myself fully expecting the car to have not even moved. Sure enough, its right where we left it with both tires in the back seat unmoved. Come to find out, he wont do it as it will cause the car to understeer. Nevermind my questions on the physics of that with a front wheel car... why wasnt that explained right away? Why hadnt they called shortly after? As theyre looking one guy tells the other all appointments after 3 are canceled and the other guy tells a lady its due to one employee walking out and several others not showing. I ask for my keys and they cannot find them. 20 minutes later finally got my keys that were sitting right behind them the entire time. Evening plans are out the door.

Very disappointed customer, called made an Appointment, I dropped off the car at 730 before they even Open, called me at 6 and says the tires are two big and he doesnt strech tires. They sell those rims there. The rims are xxr 18x9.75 the tires that were on them were 225s streched. I bought the car that way and I bought bigger tires so they dont have to strech them for the car, mind you I am a Certified automotive tech and Have been working on cars and writing up schematics for cars for year. So ge calles me before he closed and tells me he cant do it. Held the car there all day and I was the first at the door. Not very proffessional.

Aw am. My first store starts Dow furtherI just had to give an update: these idiots stripped one of my bolts bc they didn’t torque them correctly (who knows how many tires are like this) now my car is disabled and I can’t get the spare on so it will need to be towed and the bolt will have to be taken off. Thanks for costing me way more money. Smh- set up an appointment for 3pm. Was here and checked in before 3 and somehow the guy who took the key to the car and my information forgot to give it to the guys in the back so I’m sitting here over an hour later and my car still has not been pulled in for an estimate. When we ask the same employee who took our information how long it will be he says who helped you... yeah you.Thanks for the inconvenience you have caused for me today I think I’ll give someone else my business next time.

The desk clerks are polite and They get the heat for a lot of the things that go bad so I try to give the benefit of the doubt. Which is the ONLY reason i give 2 instead of 1 star. But having 3 clerks help one customer for 20 when i was called and told my vehicle was ready is unacceptable. They have your car for 10 muinutes and charge you for an entire hour. Parts are over priced. And the technicians didnt even have the decency to put panels back that they took off and they dont check what you ask them to.

I was charged 200$ to put winter tires on! I was told 89 then was called it will be 109 because they are runflats. A competent person would have known they were runflats before attemting them and if they dont know how they should not attempt the job.More they ruined and scrached my rims and blamed it on corrosion.200$ to change to winter tires!
