Since moving to Sunnyvale, I’ve struggled with finding my go-to grocery store. A balance between value and customer service is important to me. I just had one of the friendliest cashiers, Sergio, during today’s grocery trip and was impressed by the diversity of products available. I’ve now found my new favorite grocery store, despite it not being the closest.
Great convenience, 24/7, wonderful Hispanic man that provides customer service at checkout
Very glad it was open. I did not get off of work until 11:00 pm and needed to pick up a few things. They were open and even had a very helpful staff working at that late hour.
I always look for a Safeway when traveling. The prices are higher when buying items but I appreciate the freshness off Safeways produce so its worth paying a little more.
There are two safeways in Sunnyvale and they are within 2 miles apart. This one is the bigger one, with larger selection of almost everything. They even have a Chinese take-out which is equivalent to Panda Express!Come here and you wont be disappointed!
Good. Wish there were more self checkout, especially at night. Can take a while to check out sometimes. For pickup or delivery services, I much prefer target.
I called the store to check for a seafood item. A lady said she would check for it. Well she left me on hold two times for 15 minutes and said she was going back to check and never came back to reply. Third call she didnt even pick up the phone??? Finally I got a man to connect me to the meat department. Smh. I tried to verbalize the complaint to another lady once at the store of my frustration who had just got off of the phone in the Customer Service booth and it just didnt seem to matter much. Called to speak to the Director the next morning and was told he was out. Left phone number for lady acting as Directors assistant and got no call back regarding. Told she was with a customer and I offered to hold but again was told she was to busy to hear the complaint. Called guest relations and gave the complaint and the ball begun to move...they were concerned and helpful. But did it have to take ALL of that just to locate a item I wanted to buy?? When I am spending good money...makes you wonder if they even value you as a customer of their store. Things have really changed and I have been a customer of this chain of stores since I was a kid and I am a grandma now. Good Customer Service is important to maintain any business establishment. If you want to keep your customers in the future...
Dont waste your time getting a flu shot for kids here. We signed the kids up successfully with an online reservation (including confirming their birth date), but they told us they couldnt vaccinate kids after waiting in line.
I have been trying to relocate to the Bay area from Los Angeles. I frequent this location the most; however, when only one check-out line is open with 9 people standing in line, there needs to be a step-up. There have been so many times I have thought about setting my basket down & walking out because I feel the customer service is poor. Some of the checkers are great at engaging with customers, I have favorites. On a different note I think the store needs to plant some secret shoppers to review their customer service. Some of the service comes with bad attitudes, talking to everyone but the customers, or having no ability to handle problems when they occur. I would do self checkout, but often due to purchasing wine I have to stand in line & wait. Our Safeway stores in Los Angeles had 3-4 checkout stations to make sure there were no more than 3 people waiting per checkout. The store is nice, but it would be great to see some changes.
Christmas decorations up not even halfway through October. Unforgivable. Replace with spooky stuff immediately.
At the beginning of the pandemic, it seemed like they had their act together - multiple lanes open, getting people out quickly, and ensuring that the store wasnt too crowded. Now the lines for open lanes extend all the way to the second half of the store, and two lanes are open with 15 people + in line. This is not a one off, it has happened nearly every time Ive come in the last few months. Different times of day, different days of the week. They obviously no longer care a bit about safety.
Aisle 6 has changed. So the items Instacart listed as being there, were not there. Good luck finding anyone that works in the store to help find anything.
Well maintained and clean. A good selection of groceries.
Pretty large store set off of El Camino in Sunnyvale. Weird parking lot can be tight in most areas. The plaza has numerous other stores. This Safeway looks like most other nearby Safeways. It is a convenient stop if in the area.
Not the same. Loud music, random hours. Very few workers left. No Lanes were even open the other night. Its not 24/7 but they dont update the site. No clue when the deli operates. Purchased food that was open when I got home. Poor covid practices. Just avoid, theres another one right down the street.
The guy at the counter made real good sweet and sour pork mmm mmm!!!!
I frequent this location due to its proximity to my workplace. It’s always been a good experience to come to this location because of the wide selection of groceries and friendly workers. However, I was disappointed by one worker who reprimanded me for checking that eggs inside a carton were secure and had zero cracks. On the day that the governor opened CA up, this worker yelled at me for opening an egg carton and doing a quality check of the eggs. I lifted one egg to make sure that it was not cracked, and this lady said: “Don’t go touching things and putting it back.” I told her that it was broken. She kept giving me a dirty look so I left with a bad experience. I couldn’t continue shopping and went straight to self checkout. This worker went to the self- checkout employee and complained about our interaction; she demanded to place a sign next to the eggs about not letting their patrons check the products inside. Are we not allowed to check that the products are up to our satisfaction? How is it different for me to check the eggs when other people do the same when picking fresh produce? My problem with my interaction with this specific employee is that she didn’t explain how else I could check for cracked eggs. She didn’t elaborate store policy that patrons are not allowed to touch eggs inside of a carton— which I am pretty sure is not true. This employee only made me feel bad about checking that the product was up to my satisfaction.
I got what I needed but they overcharged me on some items that should have been discounted. After I checked out, I went to customer service and nobody was there. Waited for a few minutes and a gal showed up. When I asked about the 3/$12 cut fruit and that I didnt get the discount, I handed her the receipt and she backed out those charges and refunded me and then charged me the correct price no questions asked.
The delivery service was very unprofessional. No calls or updates to tell that my order was delayed and the order was marked as completed even though it was not delivered.
Tried and true. Its a Safeway. Clean, well lit, generally well stocked with everything youd expect from a middle class American supermarket. Ive been going here for years, and thats really all that needs to be said.
Lack of staff hard to find stuff no one to help very unprofessional never coming back to shop at this location horribleAnd no shopping carts to shop employee said he will send some one after 5 minutes I went out and found one to shop
Clean store, plenty of shopping carts. way better than the ones in SF.
Friendly staff, good selection, pick-up ordering is efficient
Much better than the Safeway on Bernardo Ave. It could be stocked a bit better though, since shelves tend to get pretty empty later in the evening. It also has insanely long lines even as most of the registers are closed.
My local Safeway for groceries, staff is always nice and helpful
Is a big store, and they have a good costumer service, like it.
The safeway itself looks clean and I found everything I needed. There was a homeless dude just ripping up newspaper and throwing them on the floor in the Starbucks. I left my cart for maybe 3 minutes and someone took the contents out of it and stole my cart. 🙄 I didnt realise this store was set in San Andreas. This safeway was fine but Id say my experience was 1/5 stars
Do prices very per location when it comes to safeway? Because prices seem higher here than down the road. I wish that was my only dislike, so I bought a chicken fiesta salad, a veggie pack, and hummus from here, and water. So I open the veggie pack that contained baby carrots, peas, and broccoli when the stench of the bad broccoli slapped me in the throat.I threw it away, thinking I could salvage the carrots and peas I bit into them, my mistake 🤮.So I go to the salad, overall good except when I tasted the dressing that comes with it, it had also gone bad.So not only are they selling you expired rotten food, but they are overcharging you.I ate the hummus with Ritz, and thought I had just avoided a mishap. WRONG!!! I was up all night puking and regretting my visit to Safeway, I shouldve just gone to Chick-fil-A...
Despite being busy, the checkouts are fast( Social distancing is maintained). Self checkout counters are helpful.I find the Safeway cakes far too sweet.
My store is the Santa Clara Safeway. The managers like Muhammad topped by Stephanie- you can see her around all the time from one side to the other, always helpful always nice with a non stop commitment to Safeway and her customers alike.
Its a little cheap but excellent!
Good selection. 10 % off every first Tuesday of the month for Seniors.
The woman who looks after the Bakery was rude when I asked her about fresh bread.
This store is consistently crowded from 3 to 7 pm. I would recommend to stay away during these times. Lines are super long. Cashiers are slower than average. Lines are between food aisles so if you happen to be looking for an item, you are trying to maneuver in between the folks waiting in line. They encourage social distancing but the layout of the store makes it a challenge. Great selection of items. However, the soda section was scarce. Unsure if the shipment was running behind or an influx of purchases during the holiday season. Attempted to be proactive and try the online curbside service, however that even had a 24 to 48 hour ordering queue so it would be highly unlikely if you want to purchase groceries and pick up on same day. Parking is decent. Employee is there at the front wiping carts and there is also sanitizer as well.
Great service and selection. Nice and clean atmosphere, updated interior, and great pharmacy.
The only grocery store around with Cosmic Crisp Apples, however they have no SweetTarts. For those of you who, like m, judge grocery stores by these two keystone metrics, you will find yourself conflicted. For everyone else, its a fine store which appeals to a consumer desirous of slightly dimmer than typical interior, and a very particular assortment.
This is a nice store, as far as being clean and organized. Some of the other customers can be kind of rude and impatient while waiting in line. They dont even want to wait for the person in front of them to leave the checkout before they start unloading their own groceries, and the employees dont really seem to care, at least thats how it was the last time I went.
Had to wait for help it took a good 15 minutes to get my order filled
Have to say, I love Safeway, but if you are looking for a stress free trip, don’t come here. Long lines, limited cashiers, too many people. Good selection which earns it 2 stars, but it takes a serious hit on line management and staff friendliness. This store is huge and likely has what you’re looking for. However, other stores probably have the same thing. This store does not appear to be well managed. On the upside, they always seem to have things in stock. Please, if you come to this store, be prepared to wait in line for 20 minutes and come at risk of Covid 19 due to the crowded nature of the store and front end.
I found everything i was looking for ..cashier very friendly ..nice good service ..come one come all ..good place for grocery shopping
I needed something to be open early and there behold was Safeway thank God for Safeway this place was great and the service was excellent
Great selection, never a check out lane shorter than 20 min after 4pm
This is a very nice example of a Safeway. They have a cheese monger (!!) who actually knows his stuff. They also have a pretty big selection of produce with a good amount of fresh organic stuff. I personally like all the ready-to-cook vegetables (cut and washed in store) that make my evening meals go alot quicker.
Love this place to shop for cakes 🎂 quick pick me up deserts, and other groceries. Black Forest and tres leches are the best I had so far !!
One of their newer stores, large, clean, well lit, and apple parking.
Clean, great customer service
Food. Everybody needs it. lol
Good store with convenient timings.
If you dont want to wear winter clothes to shop it is a great store. Why to cold for me.
The Safeway on Homestead doesnt have any plastic bags for your groceries as of Monday August 2nd
Open 24 hours again! So awesome! 😆👍🏽🤩
The Sunnyvale Safeway is better than most all other Safeways I have been in but it is still major chain grocery store. This can be a plus for your everyday purchases.
Store is nice and clean. A bit pricey though. Love their keto ice cream selection.
I love it because mother worked there
Wow it has improved in the last 2 years! Deli looks good (still doesnt match Lunardis or Mollie Stone but) and the fish looks much better (I still like Andronicos) but really improved
The store was clean and the cashier was very nice
Nice clean friendly great place to shop
Good variety of food and groceries, staff is friendly as well.
I could say great things. 2 months ago I reported to the manager that the storefront lighted sign is out . You cant see the store from the street. Plus its darker out front. He looked and said he will take care.Signs been out to this day. What is that?Safety for $$$ ?
Super clean store, tons of product options. Convenient location in Sunnyvale of El Camino with ample parking.Shame so much product has to be in single-user plastic, but that is now every store, and the world we now live in.
Went to purchase macaroons... Asked the lady at bakery if they had any...she just pointed vaguely and said must be there somewhere. Well, we did not see it anywhere hence asking if available at all so not helpful. Tried our luck with another representative in beverages isle. She was like if baker does not know then I do not know and walked off. So basically no willingness to help. The store was empty so it was not like they were busy. May not go again as customer service is not good.
Bad customer service. We asked 2 of the staff basic query if they had macaroons and where to find it. They were disinterested in helping. It is not crowded so good during covid times. I really like the eclair from bakery section. Not my primary shopping store but dont mind going there either
Its a Safeway! Safe and nice. Thres Leches cake is awesome here..
I know the aisles very well and always find what i am looking for at the same location. Dont forget to carry your Safeway card..Best is to load it onto your phone so that its always with you.
Rude employees! This is regarding my visit to store #2887 and I hope it reaches the store director, Brandon Norton. I stopped in on 12/3/2020 and checked out at 9:09 A.M.; I did not pay attention to the clerk’s name who was working at the self-serve check out area.As I was putting my items down, I pulled my mask down to blow my nose since my allergies started acting up (there was only me and the clerk at the checkout area). The clerk rudely asked me to put my mask back up; I told him I was blowing my nose and would put my mask back on shortly. He told me I needed to go outside if I was going to continue having my mask down because I was blowing my nose. When I was done blowing my nose, I pulled my mask back up over my nose and sanitized my hands before continuing my purchase.I understand how serious Covid is, and I take all the necessary precautions when I at out with the public. I work in a healthcare setting. I wear my mask and religiously wash/sanitize my hands as much as possible. I absolutely DO NOT APPRECIATE GETTING HARASSED by your store employee and because of how I was treated by him, I will not ever step foot in this particular Safeway again; hell, I will probably stop shopping at Safeway altogether.
Convenient Neighborhood Grocery Store Grape variety kind of pricey a time for different items but overall I think its about competitive with the other supermarkets very clean employees could be a little more friendly
Love it. Clean and friendly
The front desk girl hates her job and it shows
Everyone is always so nice and helpful, even amidst a pandemic! The cashier, Alexa (or was it Alexandra?) was really kind and thoughtful in helping me figure out what I needed as I hadntleft my house in almost 2 months, as was some other gentleman who also offered to help me find key ingredients. Also, the selection is still surprisingly good! Love it.
$5 dollar deal every Friday has a lot of good choices.
The only Safeway in the area that claims to be 24 hours and actually is.
I got a bank account and did my shopping all in one stop.
Typical Safeway, though this was a much larger store with better selection. They good use better organization and signage of where products are located
They have lots of conveniently premade food. Great cheese section and a good selection of fruits and vegetables. Although their prices are outrageous. They need to work on their bakery department. To often Ive purchase bakery items that were mediocre in taste and fresheness. They used to have delicious cakes so Im not sure what changed? The worker at the self check out needs to realize were all in the SIP together and try to be a little nicer to customers. God forbid you need his help for something.
They have awful pick up service. They dont answer the phone for pickup, and mailbox is full so you have to go into the store to get help.
First time in Safeway since SIP. Not impressed.1. Gallon organic not fat milk (O brand) only 4 days from expiration.2. Staff assigned to the self check out area never attempted to disinfect each check out station as it becomes available. He just stood there, like a hes a security guard.3. Store not crowded but each opened check out line was long.On the plus side:1. Store not crowded.2. Shopping carts are disinfected and have two clear signs indicating whats been cleaned, and whats used.
Neat and clean place as always. I find my all needs in here.
Super Clean. Nice people
Renovated store
My experience at this Sunnyvale Safeway was AMAZING! Employees are friendly and willing to help. I would like to acknowledge Raymond who was super kind and sooo helpful! I was looking for a specific product in store and he was able to assist me, helping me find what I needed. Thanks Raymond for your great customer service!!=)
Took me a while to find a staff to ask a question.
Even the signs said 24 hours but when I visited late night, it was closed
Corned beef and cabbage very good this week
Always clean and quick. Everything you need and staff is very friendly.
Not the same Safeway from the 90s but has what we need, usually. Self checkout is almost always broken and personal conversations that probably shouldnt be had in the break room can be heard between cashiers at times. There are 3 Safeway near where I live and this is the best of the 3
Big shop, wide aisles, lots of variety, fresh fruits and vegetables and its opened till late at night.
Nice people nice place
Quite big and have lots of wine options
Pick up service is a complete fail. Called 3 times before they answered. Waited 20 minutes in my car for them to tell me it wasnt ready.Update - order was never ready. Took an hour on chat to cancel the order.Update following day - order was not cancelled in spite of customer service confirming cancellation on chat. Had to go back the next day. About 40% of order was unfilled. Pickup service would not answer the phone - had to call the main store line to get connected. 30 minutes later I finally got my 60% of requested items.
Beside the bakery, great store. Bakery not so good actually not good at all....always screw my orders up so no more bakery for me...
Good Store
Very nice safeway, full of good high quality products, the service and staff were so nice and respectful. Thanks for everything safeway, especially as we are working through Covid
This used to be a pretty good market, but has really gone downhill lately. They are TERRIBLE about keeping things stocked. Basics like milk and orange juice are always completely cleaned out, with only the most expensive brands remaining. Theyve been hiking prices all through 2020, with ribeye steak even hitting $32/lb throughout the summer. The steak isnt even particularly fresh, with brown, fouled spots occasionally appearing on meat that was labeled as packed on the same day. Produce is about 5x as expensive here. The cost for a full basket of groceries here is about 30% higher than any other Safeway, and twice as high as some of the smaller markets. Its just not worth it to go to this Safeway anymore.
