In traditional European style, the desserts are small portioned and simply scrumptious! Very courteous service and excellent coffee. Love the dine-in option that offers real cups and saucers for a cozy sit-in coffee break. We ordered three different desserts and every single bite was heavenly. Apple tart was light, crispy, not one bit greasy, with tangy apple that bursts with flavor. Chocolate cherry mouse had three lovely chocolate layers that were well rounded off with cherry glaze. Lastly, the cheese cake melted on the tongue, airy and creamy with caramel surprise inside. We have not enjoyed sweet things more in a long while.
Beautiful French patries. Such a neat cafe to have in Springfield. Made for great birthday treats!
Very nice and the staff are willing to help you find a great snack 🙂
Come here often. macaroons are wonderful. quiche is great and wonderful crust. they do it right. but you pay for what you get, quality
I was referred here today by a friend when I asked where I could get macarons. She said they are the best. Well, she was Not wrong. I got a dozen macarons and a lemon torte and both were so delicious! The flavors were so good and you could definitely taste the different flavor. The meringue on the tart was delicious as well and the employees were very friendly and helpful.
I tried to order something for a birthday celebration but the customer service is terrible! NOBODY could answer my questions even after 3 calls and a trip into the shop. Stressful dealing with these people for sure. Then I get a RUDE call about a random cake they made me, lmao. The left hand has NO CLUE what the right hand is doing type situation here. Cakes taste ok, but DO NOT try and order something for a special occasion, youll be sorry. Would NOT recommend for special orders or catering. YIKES!!!
I asked the batista what their favorite latte was and asked them to make it! It was a very tasty latte with very friendly service! I will defiantly go back.
Wanted this place to be a gem but unfortunately I was not impressed. The croissant I had was entirely too dense. Not light and flakey but rather sense and crumbly. Some of the desserts looked very nice but I would pass on the baked goods.
This cafe is so nice! homey feel and the workers are so sweet. I did not know what drink to order and June helped me choose. Kayla was also helpful by suggesting the “mocha something cake”Great experience, would go again.
They have the best coffee I have ever tasted. Hands down my favorite coffee place, I frequent this place a lot, really good coffee and French desert/dishes. Try a cold brew with honey lavender flavor and a little bit of creamer in it, it’s my favorite for sure! Good place to study and hang out with friends as well. ❤️
Very nice, clean, and bright cafe. The pastries I tried were beautiful but also delicious! The service was friendly and quick enough (its an experience, its not in and out like some places but its worth the time!). I got a Spiced Pumpkin Latte (not to be confused with a pumpkin spice latte from other coffee places lol!) And it was the BEST coffee hands down Ive had all 2019. Amazing and already planning my next trip there (I live an hour away but any time I am in Springfield, I will be stopping by!).
Even though I am pretty easy with food, as a French person I can be very picky when it comes to French food abroad. But let me tell you that the quiches do NOT disappoint, I was so pleasantly surprised. And the croissants and chocolate croissants are not exactly what we are used to in France but they are the best in town, especially the chocolate croissant. So yes, it’s a little pricey, but once in a while it’s definitely worth it.Great place to have downtown !
Great pastries and drinks! My personal favorites are the cherry chocolate mousse and the raspberry Italian soda (to be fair thats the only flavor of Italian soda that Ive gotten there are three other flavors)
European Cafe is the perfect spot for a date night, an outing with the girls, to have a coffee and study, or simply to just spoil yourself with a treat. The pastries are not only absolutely beautiful, but some of the most delicious treats I’ve ever tasted. The owners put so much skill and work into every pastry and thing on the menu. The coffee beans and loose leaf teas are some of the very highest quality and when you taste them it shows through. Cannot recommend enough!
Delectable pastries, dieli cious spinach tomato quiche.
I love all the drinks and pastries here, cute chic vibe. The part that I feel in my personal opinion that could be improved upon is to bring the water station back. It seems that the staff will always forget my water even when I ask multiple times, or one time I was brushed off when I politely asked a staff member for some water when convenient. I shouldn’t have to feel shaky from drinking my french press and not be able to have a glass of water around.
I love this little cafe. I was looking for something unique and special for my daughters bridal shower and I definitely found it.Their desserts are amazing. Christina and her staff are awesome too!! Once you have tried any of the desserts, you wont go anywhere else for your desserts. Oh and they have a nice selection of coffees and teas. Check them out on Facebook or their website. I have personally tried all but one of the desserts in the pictures I have included.
We loved this little gem in the heart of downtown Springfield! Super cute and fancily decorated. The spread of treats is beautiful. The woman was extremely helpful in helping us find a vegan/ gluten free option for my daughter (coconut milk/chia pudding with fruit) and a gluten free one for me (Baileys Bonbon). We fell instantly in love.
Great little European Cafe downtown. Just wishing they had more food options.
This place was such a DELIGHT. First time in and its this little corner bakery with such minimalist design but still very intricate. These treats are just so light but rich with flavor. You really want to take your time enjoying each little detail. Stand out options were Almond Ricotta and Apple Strudel. Ran by extremely kind staff and I could just go on and on.Must go. Ill definitely be revisiting.
I was there in October, we drove over 1.5 hours to go there. We got there right before it was closing time and the entire place was empty except the guy behind the counter. He kicked us out quite rudely because we werent wearing a mask. [I cant wear one]Since he wore one and the place was empty I dont see why it was a Must that we needed to have one on to literally purchase some items and leave. His mask must have not worked that well...So I had to stay outside in the dark while the person I was with had to go get a mask and get some things.Anyways I dont remember exactly what it was but we had some kind of bar with Passion fruit. Its different but very delicious!!Definitely will be back once the mask rules are removed.
Pastries are great and delicious, however customer service was not as great. Big guy at the counter was rude, and he took forever to deliver our drinks. We were first to get there, and the last costumers to get our drinks. And for the price the pastries cost I would expect a better costumer service, and attention than the one we got, so maybe no next time for us.
Beautiful and delicious goods. I highly recommend the opera cake and chocolate croissants.
Delicious deserts! The environment is very welcoming as well.
Contrary to the below comment, I removed my review myself as it was harsh. However, though the desserts are the best in town, this spot does not pay their employees very well and it expects them to give 110 % at all times (even while dealing with heaviness such as losing a coworker). I do suggest the treats here, but I do not support the way they treat their employees. Also, if you look at recent reviews, their employees are rude. I found that when I do not feel appreciated at a job or I am not compensated well, I am rude. This may be the issue.Again, good deserts, but horrible ownership and business practices.
Stood at the counter as the two ladies behind the counter wouldnt acknowledge us. We stood there for several minutes before we asked for help, they were not very friendly and complained about being overworked. The dessert werent that great, some tasted stale. We ordered one of each and the only thing that was worth eating was the lemon tart. Fair to say we will not be back.
Delicious seasonal drinks that utilize local ingredients. Their A+ hot cocoa is my year-round staple though. My go-to coffee shop when I want to meet some friend for an hour or two. The atmosphere is relaxing and their selection of table top games are great. They DO have a restroom in the back, but you need to request the key.
Hands down the best desert in Springfield... Plus the lighter decor and classy style makes it the perfect spot to sit and enjoy an afternoon.
They offer coffee and some pastries. Nothing else. The Americana and espresso were great!
Exquisite!! The best bakery Ive ever been to, highly recommend. So excited to try their coffee brews next time we go! 😍
Honestly was a bit stale and honestly didnt taste better than grocery store bakery, which is bizarre considering the price tag you are paying. Honestly money is better spent at sams club getting one of their cakes
We stopped here after a graduation and I really enjoyed it. I had a dessert and coffee, the desert (can’t recall which one) was so delicious! Everyone at our table loved their food, and it was a very inviting and enjoyable space with some games to play and comfortable seating. I could definitely see myself studying here if I was a student! Love love love!
Best bakery in Springfield evidenced by their legit croissants and amazingly creative pastries and cakes.
Very delicate, delicious desserts.
We absolutely love this place. They put so much quality and beauty into everything they do I really could just look at their desserts all day. Whether youre getting dessert or coffee its all amazing. Also, since Covid hit Ive really appreciated their mask enforcement and social distancing efforts. Thanks you guys for all you do! ❤
Its call European Cafe, but theres nothing European about it. We were looking for coffees/cakes/teas from Europe and when we asked what European choices they had the guy said, thats only the name of the place. We dont actually sell any European things besides Lavazza coffee...Needless to say we will not return. The vanilla latte and chai tea we had were okay, but definitely not worth the $10 price tag.
Every time I go here it is amazing. The staff, the desserts, drinks, everything.
Had the BEST blueberry lavender lemonade! Their desserts look so amazing! I can’t wait to go back!!
This Cafe has incredible desserts and a lovely atmosphere! Wonderful wait staff as well.
Great Desserts very clean and very nice staff 👍
Great coffee, great pastries. Great service.
Excellent. Pastries and coffee. I will come again.
The Creme Brulee. That’s all you really need to know. It is, hands-down, the best espresso drink in Springfield. The treats and other baked goods are as tasty as they are unique. The atmosphere is bright and clean, and the Wi-Fi is blazing. Unparalleled stop-in for after-dinner, after-ballet, after-theater, after-soccer, or because-I’m-awake espresso.
I love, love, LOVE this place. I take all of my out of town guests here. This place is a jewel in the heart of Springfield. The coffee is spectacular (I recommend trying one of their specialties - the crème brûlée - if you havent yet) and the desserts are UNBELIEVABLE. They even make steamers (steamed milk with flavor) for littles who want some coffee of their own. They also have a reward program where you get a star for every $10 purchase you make and after 5 stars, you get $2 off. Its absolutely worth it to me, because I go back ALL THE TIME.
Ordered a special Ice Coffee and she took a packet of hot chocolate and mixed it with coffee and charged me almost $7.00. Been to a few coffee shops and this one I’d pass up. Unless she was having a bad day.
Ive drank a lot of coffee in a lot of countries (Brazil, Guatemala, Germany, France, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, Holland, Japan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Iraq, just to name a few off the top of my head). I just sat down and had my first sip of coffee and was immediately surprised. My mind, pleasantly, went somewhere overseas. This is the best coffee Ive had in the Springfield, MO area. I drink straight black coffee to appreciate the full flavor. This place takes the cake!
Didnt mind over paying for baked goods, and coffee, since I love to support small businesses, and it is good quality, however the last time I was there, customer service was not as friendly, and the coffee not great, with tip I usually spend about $20. in one visit, but dont think I will return.
Quite a nice little cozy cafe. Fantastic pastries, coffees and lighter French style fare. Very pleasant and accommodating staff.
Mm the ecoloir and macaroons was just so bon appetite, fs will come back soon🤌🤌
Use to love this place.. stopped by there yesterday & I suppose they have the newest & rudest staff staffed! No bird nest cake... no one to even acknowledge you at the counter. Place has really went down hill.*commenting back*I seriously laughed out loud to your response!! The cake being seasonal is one thing. That was the least of my worries. My concern was the lack of customer service. That was definitely not judged to harshly. I know good customer service and your establish no longer had any that day. No one is trying hard when the staff is just standing around looking so angry you even walked in & they *might* have to help you. Literally didnt speak one word to us the whole 5 mins we were there!! Why would we not leave?? Why would we come back? Sad sad day... I loved this place.
Their coffee is amazing! I have yet to try a sweet treat, but i’m sure they taste as beautiful as they look! Beautiful vibe and great studying atmosphere! I will definitely be a regular here! Staff is also amazing and very kind🙂
Their macarons are the best in town, and one of the few places Ive found lavender ones!!💖
The best baked desserts in Springfield
To be fair, it is best to go before noon to get the best selection. Apple Strudel is great
This place is fantastic! We ordered a few desserts for my rehearsal dinner and a giant order of a macaroons for my wedding! Everything was soooo delicious. Everyone at my wedding loved it! They let us pay ahead months in advance which was sooo nice! Also, they were able to make the macaroons the colors of my wedding, how neat!? Everything was so delicious and they were great to work with!
I ordered the matcha latte for $4.50 You can choose to sweeten or unsweetened it.
Coffee and macaroons were soooo yummy I had a creme Brule drink and an orange macaroon
Good area has good coffee flavor beans don’t taste old or cheap. Also great quality pastries, looks like all of them are house made. Would come again for sure!
This place is so good and the croissants are to die for!
Can I just say ummmm?
Drink was delicious, macaroons were just a bit under done...
European Cafe is one of the few restaurants that I truly trust... The owners truly believe in their craft and their product. They strive for the best experience for their customers and do this by providing high quality, labor intensive products. They go to great lengths here. Almost everything is handmade, in house, using local ingredients or high quality ingredients. I have the utmost respect for Uliana and Christina, and every dime here is well spent.
5 stars every time I come here! The food is beautiful and tastes phenomenal. Always has great service. Love it! 😍
Ive been here only a handful of times, but each visit has been as good as the one before. That consistency is refreshing to see in a place so small. The people are extremely pleasant and the sweets are amazing. I work in the same building and oh my god the smells.Ive recently branched out into their more savory items. Right now Im eating a sausage and leek quiche. Ive never had a quiche before. Apparently I like them! Or at least like theirs. Ive also tried a ham croissant. My only complaint is that they arent hot and fresh to order, but thatd be very hard to pull off considering how much more time and effort baking takes compared to frying. I dont hold it against them in the least, but I think people might not consider or expect that just coming in for the first time.
Delightful experience. Great coffee and good service.....not a hovering waitstaff, just a great barrista.
Lives up to its name. I enjoyed a very authentic couple of European pastries and coffee al fresco. It was all quite lovely.
