Smaller hardware and lumber companies compared to Home Depot. But dont let that stop you from visiting store. They carry top quality kitchens cabinets and bathrooms tubs, sinks, toilets. Carpeting and flooring selection is small, but buyer for store picked nice selections to sell there. They have paint, hardware, garden tools, lawn furniture, windows, siding. And employees who will ask you if you need help😊

My wife and I decided to do a complete remodel of our kitchen. We stopped in at Von Tobel and sat down with Ted Hansen. Ted took the time to walk us through our cabinet options and layout. After we decided on cabinets Ted proceeded to take us over to the flooring area were he and Heather Howard spent an hour or more helping us with matching flooring, backsplash and cabinet colors together. Very professional and personable group!During the install process I came across a few things that were damaged in shipping or may have been missing. I would emailed Ted on occasion about the damages or missing hardware and his responses were very prompt and helpful. He got things reordered and in my possession ASAP.All in all it was a great experience with Von Tobel. I would highly recommend them if your doing any kind of remodeling. They have it all. It is just a more relaxed atmosphere, not like a big box store environment. Thanks again to Ted, Heather and Von Tobel for a smooth, easy and enjoyable experience, start to finish!

Huge inconvenience was happy to see there was a hardware store on my way to the job site. They didnt have exactly what I needed but I thought given the convenience Ill make do with what they offer when I got to the checkout they did not have change for $100 bill I felt like I was at a gas station in the hood not a Dutch run hardware store

We had a wonderful experience at the Schererville location! Ted Hannsen designed us a brand new kitchen and laundry room. His design expertise, attention to detail, as well as out standing customer service made the whole process so much more enjoyable!! Also a shout out to Heather Howard in flooring and tile. She really helped pull the look we wanted together!

Needed material to fix a friends furnace. Found the people there to be friendly and professional.

Waited over half hour in flooring to get prices and sample. She gave us price and turned around and waited on someone else. I just wanted to pay for the samples. Just lost an over $10,000 order. Never going back.

Walked in to the Schereville location for kitchen tile and countertops. Lady at front counter pointed us to section and that was it. Several people working there seen us walking around and not one person helped us out. We needed help and got nothing. Walked out and going somewhere else.

We recently used Von Tobels to completely remodel our kitchen. Ted in cabinets designed the most beautiful and functional kitchen I could have ever dreamed of and Kim in flooring was so helpful in finding the perfect flooring and backsplash. I would highly recommend this team of professionals!

Not a fan. The older man (who works there) that I was talking to about faucets called me honey. I was going to buy light bulbs, but I opted to walk out empty-handed. I dont do business with sexists.

Service was as if I had the plague? Selection of tools was poor. They didn’t have a jigsaw with a cord? People are not very friendly. Return policy is terrible, so be careful when you buy products from there! I used them because they were close to my house. Now I will drive the extra miles to Home Depot or Lowe’s for friendlier service and better return policy.

Great service and top notch products. Ted Hansen was extremely helpful in the selection process of my project...a new shower surround. I will definitely be coming back later to complete my bathroom renovation as Ted has given me a head start on the selection of a new vanity, counter top and faucet. I also received great help from a young lady at the paint department. She help me pick out the perfect color for the bathroom that complimented my new shower surround. I am a very satisfied customer.

I did a partial remodel of my bathroom. New floor, vanity, vanity top. Ted Hansen and Kimmy in flooring were VERY knowledgeable about their departments!!!! I will definitely go there for my future remodeling needs!!!!

I shop here only because its close.Every time I come in the staff never greets you or asks if you need help finding anything.Its uncomfortable being ignored by the staff.

I was looking for tools and checking out there selection and one of the workers literally followed me around and standing at the end of the isles watching if I was going to steal something. I will never go back to this location again .

Just stopped in to get some supplies...approx $30.00 tried to pay for it with $100.00 dollar bill..the lady at the register said she does not have change for $100.00... its 12:20pm! How can you not have change for $100!?..she said we do not take that much $ in a day!?...I was going to have to leave my supplies but a nice man behind me gave me change...Im just saying! Wow!

Management at store is horrible, especially store manager. Yard guys are awesome. Overworked and underpaid. Go to Schilling instead of this dump.

I was looking to get new floors and countertops for my condo. I spent several months looking at big box stores and other home improvement stores, trying to choose colors and finishes. I needed to purchase flooring with a good sound barrier rating per the condo rules and regulations. I got inconsistent information at other stores regarding this. The last thing I needed was to install the floor, only to find out it didnt meet the criteria and I would have to have it removed.I was having a hard time even pulling the trigger on the first decisions as a result. Kim Kaluf at Von Tobels reached out to the salesman for the flooring companies to get my questions answered. I was able to take home very large sheets of the different flooring in order to see it in the light of my condo. This is helpful because the little 2 - 3 squares you get from most places dont get you a true picture of the floor. Andy Zeman at Von Tobels helped me break down all the decision making by selecting both a granite choice and HD laminate selection that I loved and get pricing on both. With all my questions answered, and the different options available, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for.The service didnt stop there! Andy continued to follow up, reminding me of timelines, appointments, and made sure I was completely satisfied with the work. I travel most weeks for work, so this service is exactly what I needed to get the project completed. Im sure I wouldve never received this type of service from big box stores. I highly recommend Von Tobels and will go there again for future remodeling needs.

They pride themselves on serving contractors but dont carry professional tools and products. My guess is they have lost touch with the industry. Im going back to Lowes.
