The store is aptly named and was indeed a Joy to visit. After losing the Italian deli in Saratoga that Ive patronized for many years to a buyer from Albany that doesnt even answer the phone, I began a search for a true Italian deli. When I walked into La Gioia I knew I had found what I was looking for. The aroma of Italy in the air, the hustle bustle of a staff serving with professional knowledge, courtesy, and a neat and clean appearance, so rare today, and shelves and cases filled with all the Mediterranean delicacies imaginable, made me realize the true gem I had discovered. This was a wonderful epiphany for me; I smiled all the way home 30 miles away.

Fresh/frozen homemade pasta, meatballs, and sauce for cheaper than you can get at a supermarket. Amazing subs and great Italian treats. Get the guanti if you have a sweet tooth. Oh, and sometimes they have sausage with parsley that is literally addictive. Friendly, local, and just delicious.

Inside is a standard Italian market/deli. First timer during lunch, didnt have to wait long. Ordered the Italian mix (half-sub) and a bottle of Pepsi. $7. Even though it wasnt busy the counter gal put my sub in a brown bag and didnt give me a napkin. Perhaps that cost extra? Subs dont come with lettuce, onion and tomato unless you ask AND pay more for it. Seems wrong but its their business and they get to run it as they see fit. The actual sub was pretty damn good. The meat and cheese was fresh sliced ( Boars Head) and the roll was fresh and tasty. Worth stopping in if you are in the area and want a sub for lunch.

Great Deli Full of high quality meats, cheeses and italian food supplies. I had went in yesterday to get some prosciutto and cheese. unfortunately due to a chronic illness I was a bit aloof during my shopping experience. But even with that going on I could tell these people really care about their shoppers and the experience that goes into here. Great place, I think Ill grab a nice sub here soon!

I Was working near by decided to grab lunch here.. never been here before I misplaced my mask so I put my shirt over my face for respect to other people that have weak immune system. Before I had a chance to walk in i got yelled at I need a mask to walk in somehow Florida Texas have no issues but here in this little sandwich shop your liberty gets taken away.. 1945.

The male employee was extremely rude to me. I lived for La GioiA when I lived in schenectady. I moved to Fl ten years ago but continued to buy from them and have local prople pick it up for me. I was excited to go there today but one tude employee has turned me ofc on them. I had intended to pirchadr. Considerable amount oc goods to brong back to Fl but purchased some cookies for some one else and lefteelse.

Amazing sub! I got one there for the first time yesterday. The roast beef was so tender. One of the best subs I’ve had. I’ll be back!

Even in an area with some great Italian delis this one stands out. Very prompt, friendly service is immediately noticeable and then the food takes it to another level. Not only are the subs absolutely fantastic, but youll be blown away at what a value it all is. A 6 Italian mix, chips and soda came in at less than $8. Not a misprint. Ill be back and often.

Hands down, this place has the best roast beef Ive ever had. It was perfectly pink and there were no chewy or hard bits. I ordered a roast beef and cheddar melt on a sub, and it was absolutely delicious and had a full amount of meat. Will definitely be having my husband bring me home more subs.

I love going to La Gioia Anna, Modesta and the girls are so sweet and they make the best Sausage in the area. The cold cuts are always fresh and great prices compared to the markets. I highly recommend La Gioia to all of my Friends and family.

Wow! Great turkey sandwich. The best I have ever had. The Italian bread was crusty but yet soft. The layers of turkey and tomato and lettuce was just the right amount. The Italian dressing was delicious. The price was great!

I go there fore there romano cheese. It is a true romano meaning that it is made from sheeps milk. It is 8.99 a pound compared to 13.99 a p ound from shop rite. Service is excellent.

The wrapping weighs more the sub is a pathetic joke. Theres almost no meat on it and its all bread. Laura and one other woman are the only ones who know how to make it right.

Very good homemade sausage, fairly good selection of other Italian favorites. Stocks bread from local bakery, tomato pie, a few Italian cookies, pastas etc.

I USED to love coming here at least once a week. The staff was always friendly. UNTIL today. Today the older woman(sorry, i dont know names) helped my boyfriend. She blatently got distracted with making the sub and DIDN’t even finish making it. When i received it with not even a 1/4 lb of meat on it (i have a scale...so nice try) we called and the dark haired younger woman was amazing as always. When my boyfriend showed up, everything was fine until the older one chimed in and passive aggressively suggested my boyfriend lied and that she made the sub perfect. Obviously she does not care if customers return. Sad, because now we wont.

Weve been going to La Gioia for at least a decade. Wonderful people who are warm and friendly, and call us by name (and vice-versa). Boars head meats, Perrecas sub rolls, awesome Italian cookies and the BEST Guanti. They slice the meat and veggies for each sandwich they make... SO fresh! Oh, and THE BEST homemade meatballs I have ever had. I cannot say enough about this deli. I have never found better in the entire Capital area.
