Eerie. Theres just something so off-putting about that place. There is a wide variety of furniture but I will warn most of it is very overpriced. For 3500 dollars Id rather buy a new wardrobe. Just really sketch vibes. And I do not want to go back.
Incredible house that has NOT been restored. Some of the porches I was afraid to walk out on for fear they would fall off. Amazing details and even more amazing antiques. Lots of chairs. 4 floors to look through. How did they ever get the big pieces to the top floors? I just dont know enough about antiques to know if they are good deals, but many pieces were just stunning.
4 floors of antiques, its like rummaging through years of family heirlooms in a run down Georgian mansion. The further up you go, the more it feels like youre getting a glimpse of a place you shouldnt be in. Personally enjoyed this more than the house tour at Andrew Low! Get to the top floor, and go out on the patio to get a glimpse of the grand school next door !
I have tried to come to this store MANY times in the past month. I tried on weekends, on weekdays... multiple times of day.. morning, afternoon, early evening- and IT IS NEVER OPEN! The hours online ARE A LIE! The lights are always off, and there is the same sign on the door, that says by appointment only. When are they open????? Also, the website online, brings you to a store in California. And when you try and contact them.. on Instagram, Facebook or on the phone... NO RESPONSE IS EVER GIVEN. I am totally frustrated at this point.
Always an interesting piece with an interesting story to be told by knowledgeable owner, Alex Raskin. A veteran antiques dealer with a wide variety of unique history for sale. This shop is a must-see for serious buyers of ANTIQUE furniture, sheet music, decorative pieces, paintings, tableware, baskets, mirrors, everyday and entertaining items imagined and unimagined. A destination shopping experience that does not disappoint!
Just made a purchase yesterday and the owner Mr. Raskin is a very knowledgeable man who knows what he sells. I bought a piece and asked if it could be packed to be brought back home and he made sure it was boxed and ready to be checked in a timely manner. I’ve visited and made purchases in many antique stores in many different places but few are more personable and welcoming than this one. Looking forward to my next visit and thank you again Mr. Raskin.
Im so happy I just found this wonderful Savannah Manse again! I visited about 8 years ago! This old Savannah style home is amazing! Entering the Garden Level you get a sense of nostalgia immediately! You can almost sense the previous owners of the past! Moving upward through the home there are many wonderful trinkets, furniture and antiques of all kinds! I loved my adventure in this stately home and cannot wait to return to this square and this wonderful home!!!
Hidden Savannah treasures are waiting to discovered.
Alex has a huge collection of stuff. If you like antiques and the stories that go with them, dont miss this place right on Monterey Square. Alex is a real Savannah character who really knows his business and has been at it for decades. The shop is located in the basement level of a beautiful old Savannah home, rumored to host a family of friendly ghosts.Alex ships his items to collectors all over the world.
Not open to the public. We parked, walked 7 blocks, and then found out there is a vetting process required: you need to contact someone via telephone to get an appointment just to be later admitted into the building.
Super fun and full to the brim with Victorian age antiques. My wife and I are super nice collectors and most of the items were even out of our price range so be ready to just look. The building alone is worth looking at.
As much as I love antiques I was drawn to Alex Raskins just to get inside this historic, magnificent and almost ominous building. The endless selection of period furniture piled up in this gently crumbling grand interior is a sight worth a visit in itself. The old portraits and faded mirrors adorning the walls of the salons give you this very PECULIAR FEELING you can only get in Savannah, like being gently watched or followed all the time. To my surprise, the owner give account to some unexplainable events and ghost sightings within these walls in the past. History is almost palpable here.
I came here on a Sunday. Open by appointment only 😢
I and my 3 friends were very excited about visiting this shop. We got there around 2:30 and after about 30 minutes wondering around the four floors left incredibly disappointed. To begin with, the house itself is BEAUTIFUL but is also falling apart. Paint peels from the ceiling, windows are missing panes, you wonder at certain points if you will fall through the floor. There are obvious holes in the floors on the uppermost level. The attic is even INACCESSIBLE because there IS NO FLOOR.The antiques themselves ( predominantly furniture and wall furnishings) are lovely but I am suspicious of their outrageous prices. I have never seen prices this high on similar pieces. The furniture is crammed all throughout the crumbling mansion, some pieces with prices posted, some without.I ran into the owner a few different times on this trip and he never bothered to smile or initiate a conversation. No welcome, please come in. He does seem to stare and always be nearby as if he is watching you to make sure you are worthy to be a patron.Overall, not impressed. The house itself doesnt deserve to be in the condition its in and its only really worth a visit if youre into antique furniture SPECIFICALLY (and gruff, judgemental owners who seem to determine your ability to purchase based on the way youre dressed/your age).
Immense.Alex Raskin Antiques is 4 floors of antique furniture and pictures encased in high ceilings and splotchy walls. The labyrinth of wood requires you to scale its Antebellum steps to seek new finds going higher and higher. If you arent looking for furniture, there may not be much for you here.Very cool experience with slight haunted vibes.
Tons of very old, very unique pieces. It was neat to be able to shop throughout the old mansion, but there was so much for sale it was a little difficult to see everything in some rooms. Staff was very knowledgeable and owner was willing to move on prices. The view of Forsyth Park from the top floor porch was a great bonus!
Very interesting, the collection of late 1700/1800 furniture and artifacts is amazing. Well worth a the stop. Im told the upstairs has more but we didnt have time to explore more.
Alex is an outstanding person and true dealer motivated by the love of antiques. He is the last of a dying breed that is educated in makers, and real identification. He’s a wealth of knowledge and has the years of experience to back it up. He is not overpriced like other earlier ignorant posts. He will recognize a short profit in a skinny minute and is your true sithetn dealer. He has taken the time to educate me on specific items of mutual interest. I highly recommend him!
We spent and hour and a half wandering through this huge mansion full to max with gorgeous antiques. The house itself is so impressive. Four floors, only 3 accessible, with super high ceilings and beautiful detailed architecture. As you ascend the large staircases it takes you back in time. I would highly recommend this as a stop when touring Savannah.
Place was cool. Full of antiques. Some rooms too dark to see. The house was the coolest part to me. Had some questions for the owner but after standing by for 5 minutes or so listening to him and another couple bash the President I had to walk out. Very unprofessional.
Don’t judge people by the way they look. Just because people look a certain way doesn’t mean they don’t have money to spend on fine antiques. The person working was rude as soon as we walked in saying he was going to close up soon since he was the only one there...three hours earlier than the posted closing time.
A great place to look for truly unique furniture. Its very expensive but everything looks fantastic
As a shop in the middle of Savannah, I would imagine the owner knows how difficult parking is and that we had to make a deliberate and time consuming effort to get there during his business hours. We made that effort only to find a sign posted on a piece of paper that they were closed today but that SERIOUS INQUIRIES may call them to meet. I understand emergencies that require a small business to close, but just not wanting to fulfill their business hours unless I promise to give them a big sale? Thats without class and standards. I was excited to see the place and buy a few mementos of our trip, but at this point I would hate to see any profits go to a person that would be so disrespectful to his intended customers.
Maybe my tastes arent refined enough, or Im just honest to goodness broke, but the prices, even just to look, were frighteningly intimidating. It was also very crowded and the staff was always hawkishly glaring at the customers. If you arent trying to spend less than $3,000 theres no point in stopping in.
As impressive as the collection of forgotten things is, I have to comment on the ridiculous overpricing of the items. Example: a vinyl record from the 50s of an obscure Victorian musician was marked up from $5 to $45. The disturbing comments made by the owner himself did not help me enjoy browsing even the first floor.
This is a serious antique shop selling mostly 100+ year old furniture. The collection is very impressive, and the setting is equally spectacular. Alex was very friendly to my wife, our small child, and myself. If you like antiques and are visiting Savannah, dont miss this place.
Great antiques!! And old historic house. Owner very nice and helpful
Most of the stuff in here is too expensive for me but what a beautiful place. Love the house and looking at all of the antiques when we visit Savannah. A new favorite!
This is a fantastic shop full (4 floors) of wonderful high-end antiques (mostly furniture but also some smalls like tea caddies and boxes) from the 17th-19th centuries. I did not find his prices unreasonable for the quality of the merchandise. Even if you don’t have the room to bring an armoire or even a small table home in your luggage, it’s still a delight to walk around there, and you never know what you might find that you simply *must* buy and have shipped home. He has a lot of pieces that I had only seen in books before.I would also like to mention, in response to some comments in other posts, that I am covered in tattoos and piercings and the staff was friendly to me and didn’t write me off, so I don’t think they’re judging people by appearances.
Largest collection of awesome antiques, must see while in Savannah if you enjoy antiques
This place was out of this world awesome. Floor after floor of wall to wall antiques, while the house itself is the coolest antique of all.
My wife and I chanced upon this location ... I regret to hear that others found Mr. Raskin in any way off-putting. He was certainly kind and patient with me.I found his store to be just great. I think of it often.
Visited on 10/1/18. The man there with a beard was NOT friendly talking in cell phone and oblivious that customers had come in basically could have cared less. Place is crammed on all four levels with many antiques piled on top of each other in a horrific decayed mansion dirty dingy and falling apart. Very sad to see this rot & neglect and lovely antiques now stuck there rotting with it. Basement street level has AC up over three floors do not and are heavy with a mildew scent the farther up you go the worse it gets. Also many pieces are not priced on upper levels and since the guy working was so rude one would hardly want to ask him if a price. Hope this place gets restired one day and into the hands of an owner that will restore and love it.
Showed up at 4:40 and the owner said we couldn’t come in because they had turned the lights off..... and their closing time listed is 5PM. Horrible customer service.
Good for antique furniture. Not much else I liked.
In the basement of an old house in the historic district the place it self is really cool to walk around add on lots of cool antiques!
Best place in the low country for real Antiques...
Fantastic shop with eclectic mixture of items. touch high on prices but he was willing to deal.
Alex Raskins Antique shop is GREAT! If he aint got it, he will get it, chair, painting, music box. A very pleasant person to talk with, knowledgeable, articulate.
Amazing old house! we had a great time exploring
Thanks for selling me the things I bought I love the large copper cauldren
Raskins Antiques has the largest, finest, most diverse collection of furniture and decorative arts I have ever encountered in 60 years of such encounters. It is simply one-of-a-kind extraordinary. Every corner and cubby of four floors of the grand 1870s Savannah mansion is crowded with stuff. The place suggests something of a hoarders lair, but a hoarder with the most informed and exquisite taste - and very deep pockets. If Americana dominates, the variety of the goods is as extraordinary as the volume, from standard chairs, corner cupboards, and bedsteads to pier mirrors, continental consoles (matched pair!), paintings, prints, engravings, chests, boxes, some stained glass, deco radiator covers, objects of virtue that one hardly knew existed, and things that rarely come on the market - like a wall size 1940 FDR reelection poster. Wow. The quality of Raskins things is even more astonishing. I have never seen so many museum-quality pieces for sale. From the three or more pieces from Duncan Phyfes shop, a Northshore Massachusetts (Samuel McIntire) sofa, the most artful French art noveau settee, to the most beautiful (and largest) collection of tramp art I have ever seen including in museums. My daughter, 12-year old grandson and I ricochetted from floor to floor, object to object for over two hours and then returned after lunch for more. Its connoisseurs heaven, but as per the 12-year old, great fun for others. For the quality of his things, Raskins prices are often high but justified, and still not so high as the New Yok, Washington, or Boston markets. He prices things, it seems (from personal experience) according to what he paid for them. He negotiates as well. The absence of price tags is kind of a nuisance, and Raskin himself might indeed be gruffish and short, but his eye and taste trump that while he seems to know every object in the place. This aint no antique mall. Go and give into it! Awesome.
Alex is the real deal, and this place is awesome.
I was expecting items from around the 1950s -1980s, but I was highly surprised when we realized most of the items there are from the 1800s and some of them as old as the 1500s
A real antique store, wide selection on several floors. The house the store is in is an unrestored mansion house, and filled to the brim with great stuff
Allow yourself several hours to browse through the fabulous antiques and objects dart housed in a fantastic old mansion.
The store was open according to the hours and the door was open, but some grupmy man said the store was closed...even though all the lights were on and it was 2pm on a Sunday...grumpy man continued to bring furniture out of the shop? Idk about this place...
While my wife and I are not huge spenders when in comes to antiques, we browse and spend money. Normally its smaller items but we BUY nonetheless..Mr. Raskin was extremely rude with us. He told us this was not a tour house, it was an antique shop. Sir, antiques are a rough business. I suggest you treat every customer with courtesy. I had money to spend today.
Great; dropped off a piece for Alex!
It was closed and was supposed to be open. I wish it has been cause Ive heard good things.Next time...
Wonderful & expensive antiques in an old but priceless & timeless mansion that is begging to be renovated. Totally enjoyed the visit!
He has the most beautiful store and big antique collections.
Amazing collection and treasures in this historic building.
Best house tour in Savannah is free, shopping at Alex Raskins antiques
Cant afford anything, but its really fun to go and see what all theyve got.

This place is nuts. in a good way.
Love it. Great place
Walked in at 4:25 and shop keeper said he was closing in five minutes - one half hour earlier than advertised hours for a Tuesday.
Great selection
Very expensive and very crammed!
Amazing place to explore!
Rude, unobliging, indifferent staff.
Cant afford anything but what a great place to explore history.
Pompous little man, with an attitude.
Must see
Hoarder...
What a great spot in Savannah for unique and beautiful antiques. Thank you Alex and Patrick for helping me find just the right piece.
Ew liberals. Gross
Antique shop that is worth visiting even if youre not looking to buy anything. It extends on several floors full to the top of furniture and disparate objects, very curious to see.
