SUPER knowledgeable and helpful, if you know who to ask. Prices are very fair and sometime cheaper than Home Depot. Never worth going to HD unless you need a lot of something that you know is cheaper there. San Lo has basically everything you could need. Dog friendly. And I never get patronizing vibes from staff (which is common in most male dominated environments like hardware stores). What more could you ask for!

You can count on San Lorenzo Lumber to have what you need. For all your construction and DIY projects. Im a local Electrical Contractor and added some recessed lights for a customer. I was able to get the lights, patch kit for sheetrock, paint and a dimmer. All were last minute changes and San Lo. got me through the project with no delays. ThanksJJC Electric

Interesting to note that some reviews mention high prices compared to competitors. If, by competitors, one means the big box stores, then that might be true, but with San Lorenzo Lumber you get a real person who knows what theyre talking about instead of someone who, with a vacant look, merely points you in the general direction of what may be what you actually asked for. That is what youre paying for.And I have always had wonderful service from all three locations I visit, particularly River Street and Felton - both near my house and most of my work. The employees know me and my dog, and are always helpful and welcoming.

The staff are very helpful here and they seem to have a wide selection of products. Would definitely recommend for contractors and people working on large products. The store is still a great general hardware store as well. Unfortunately did not have the drywall patch I was looking for.

They had everything I needed! Including a rare kind of screw that Home Depot didnt have, and more selection than Ace. Look at the pricetags - lots of hidden bargains to be found! I got nice glass lampshades for $1 each and solar power garden lights for $2 each (5 lumiens). Im coming here for all my hardware needs in future.

Best collection and variety of organic Veggie Starters in the area. Chloe, their buyer, does an amazing job getting beautiful plants from organic farmers from around the Bay Area.

They have lots of home improvement supplies, and the employees are very friendly and helpful.

Go here if you need specialty plants and garden supplies. They have pond supplies, Japanese maple trees, Cal natives, bedding plants, shrubs, grasses, vegetables, herbs, and everything you need to take care of them (and more). They also have a wide range of pots, from basic plastic that I like to use to hold plants that Im transplanting, to half whiskey barrels, to lovely glazed ceramics. They have a seasonal area near the registers thats always stocked with bulbs in the fall, dahlia tubers in February, and so on. They also stock bare root fruit trees and roses in early spring. Finally, while I havent used the service, they do have a desk where they will diagnose plant issues for you, which I think is great.

My favorite place in the area to buy vegetable starrs is the garden center here. Plants are very strong, healthy and they have a large variety to choose from. I usually go with a plan and walk out with at least 1-3 impulse plants to try. Last trip was only $35 and I purchased nine 6 packs of veggies!

Th Garden Center has a fantastic selection of plants combined with a dedicated and knowledgeable staff who share not only their enthusiasm for all aspects of gardens, but tons of valuable information on how to grow plants successfully in your local microclimate.. first rate place!

After a horrible Home Depot shopping trip, where I could find none of the items (most were really basic things), I was pleasantly surprised to easily find everything at San Lorenzo Lumber and Home Store. There are helpful and genuine employees there, too.

This store is a contractors paradise as far as the hardware and lumberyard go. The nursery is fun and beautiful to ponder around in. The hours of these stores do vary depending on the season so be sure to take a look at the posted hours or call ahead if you are unsure

Great service and well organized during the Covid pandemic.

We went to San Lorenzo Lumber almost every week. Most of the time, I would start by getting supplies for projects and then hire some day-laborers to help with the project. San Lorenzo Lumber asked homeowners to not hire the men and women inside their parking lot, so I tried to always hire them in the street. Didn’t always work, but I appreciated why San Lorenzo Lumber asked us to do this.A great store with a good selection of building supplies.

The people that work there are very friendly except for one older man at the cash register he made me feel like I owe him something an awful feeling

I have two experiences with San Lorenzo Lumber, Santa Cruz chapter. One of them was extremely positive. With no experience in carpentry beyond the most rudimentary, Michael the deck guy from the yard was magnificent and through his tutelage I was able to build a deck and we go up to it every day we’re home and I could not be happier with the deck guy.The second interlude is way off the other end of the scale. Today my wonder wife was gathering stock for a project and I was trying to move our Prius around a busy yard and was stopped perpendicular to two rows and not, I figured, blocking either.A gray haired gent from the checkout kiosk glowering at me did not agree, as he came up to inform me. “These are contractors and they need to go to work. So put your phone down and -“ I tried to explain that I was trying to reach the wife so we could coordinate and leave the yard with the wood she was buying and the sandstone rounds already in the car. Move it, he said.I have not been treated like that since Basic Combat Training in 1965. I was not blocking any lane, I’m sure, as a couple of trucks moved past me, but I’m determined never to be suspected of blocking traffic in that yard ever again.Say hello to Michael for me, will you?Tim BowdenOld and In The WayFrom Felton

This store has undergone a number of name changes through the years but the fact remains that customer service is still not there strong suit. If you require an item in a pinch and dont mind paying double compared to their competitors than this is your store.I went in to return some extra pure white paint I purchased and didnt end up using and they informed me that they have a policy of not taking returns on any tinted paint. I said alright then proceeded to check the receipt and this policy was not posted so I checked the paint mixing booth and still not a posted policy. Next I waited in line again and asked to return the paint because the policy was not informed to me. They said no and called the person from the paint department and he says they had a sign before but its not up due to renovation of the paint department. I responded with great so I can return and he said that would not happen unless I was going to buy more paint from him today. Completely ridiculous if you fail to post a policy than you take the return and eat the cost, looks like I will not be supporting there paint department any more.

Dont bother with this location. go to the river Street location. the river Street location sells material by the square foot while this 41st Ave location only self by the full sheet.
