Some of the best Hand Tossed Pizza in Santa Barbara with outstanding toppings. Made to order in under 5 minutes. Ask for Aaron, the hand tossed guy, and he puts on a show.
Employees were friendly. Food is high quality. Made and then cooked in front of you. I do not like to leave less than stellar reviews. But, when they had a problem removing the pizza from the oven they should have found a better solution than giving me the broken pizza. There is no bread under my pizza in the middle. As a result all the toppings are sticking. Only half of each slice is edible. Maybe the guy who came out of the back with his cell phone blaring a soccer match could have done something if he wasnt entirely distracted. Completely unacceptable. I will not be back.
I’ve never seen someone completely drop my order that is 20 minutes late to do something completely different mid preparing my order.. i understand being under staffed but when it happens everytime I come in for a phone order 15-20 minutes after and they haven’t started by the time I’m there it defeats the purpose of ordering before hand
So good. Love the choice of toppings you can get!
The best pizza Ive ever had in Santa Barbara, crispy crust, fresh, fillings that I can choose or assemble as I really want, totally delicious, and the wonderful service, thoughtful people who know how to make a real pizza in the wood oven, definitely the best pizza.
The pizza are delicious and very well seasoned, not to mention the smell of the wood in the oven...just great all around
Ate here this past weekend. Staff were very nice. Started with the Buffalo wings. They were baked but were still crispy. Very tasty, quality wings, great sauce. They gave me a small cup of the bar b q sauce which was also good but I liked the hot Buffalo sauce better.I ordered a carne pizza., Loved the crust, cheese and sauce. Had all types of meat. I can tell that the ingredients were fresh. Couldnt finish but heated up a slice the next day and was still very good. The person next to me had a baked pasta dish covered with sauce and cheese and I asked him if it was good and he says it was great and he comes in weekly for that dish. The draft beer the manager recommended was excellent. They let me taste it first. If they had a take and bake version of the pizza I would come back if I lived here and buy that as I have never found a good one. They had a ranch dressing for the crust and wings and it was excellent, I asked for the recipe! When I come back to Santa Barbara I will visit here again.
The place looked nice and when I came in I was greeted. But when it came to going to the cashier to order something, he just stood on the phone for about 5 mins without even taking a moment to tell me at least he would be right with me so I left. Im sure the place has great food, but another time it seems.
Pizza wasnt bad considering we were pretty hungry, but it was very greasy and in my opinion they put way too much cheese on.
BEST PIZZA EVER!! Such friendly staff and delicious pizza! A must when visiting SB❤️❤️
Great pizza, probably the best ive had in SB so far. Pizza was fast and ready in 10 minutes. Bread stick pizza was also great.
Pizza was tasty, workers were super friendly and made our visit a pleasant one. Will definitely reccomend this place.
UGH the pizza is so bomb and I enjoy the customizability of the pizzas. This is my favorite pizza place in town!
Kind staff, good pizza!
This place on State Street in Santa Barbara has a variety of their own specialty pizzas, or you can make your own from a generous selection of ingredients. The one we had was OK, not great, and a little greasy. Id go back to try again...
Its one of the best pizza i have ever test. Worth the try.
Much better than I expected. I thought it’d be decent, cheap, super-thin pizza that one finds at places that specialize in small custom pizzas. I strongly recommend the chipotle chicken. The bread is soft, but not undercooked, the ingredients were obviously high quality, and the seating was abundant and clean. Pretty good wine selection, too. My favorite pizza in town.
Some of the best pizza around. Persona pizza is really good food.If youre not paying attention it would be so easy to walk past this place. The exterior is so plain and understated that you really dont notice its a pizza joint.Fresh ingredients, fired in an oven, on authentic pizza dough. Try the award winning chipotle chicken pizza. Pair it with a local beer and enjoy.Do yourself a favor and stop in. Youll be glad you did
Great food
I always liked this place because you get to customize your own pizza. And the pizzas are pretty good. My only complaint on this most recent visit was that because the front of the store is wide-open it was actually quite cold inside
Tasteless pizza, crust way too thin and soggy. No plates or utensils with our order. Just a few pieces of ordered toppings on the pizza.
If I ever have a bad pizza here its my own fault since I got to chose everything that went onto it. Bonus: they are reasonably priced and have good beer.Theyre also good about supporting local charities.
The pizza was best Ive ever had. BUT, the staff was ruuddeeee. And a fountain soda cost 3.95 (way overpriced). but the pizza was prized well.
My wife and I ate here for the first time and we have walked past it so many times.Nice staff, good food, well priced.I wish the base crust was slightly thicker to hold up the slice when you eat it, but that is only my personal preference.
Pizza was very good. Service was very chaotic. All employees looked like it was their first day on the job. One dish was ready immediately, another after 20 minutes, the final after 25. Pasta was partially cold. Pizzas were not 100% cooked. It was apparent that they were not equipped to handle the volume on Saturday night.
Usually dont finish our pizza, but this one we devoured. It was delicious. So was the chicken we loved it. Will be back soon.
The crust on these pizzas, are heavenly. Soft, airy, and delicious. Paired with fresh ingredients, it taste like someones grandparents are in the back; cooking their secret recipes. Wonderful flavors in all three of the pizzas that we had, on a walking food tour. Such a cozy place that warrants good conversation. Love this little hidden gem of restaurant. We will definitely be back to try some of the other amazing-sounding entrees. Thanks for the great service!
This little place was a gem! It is higher priced but the experience was wonderful! Marcus, our server (but he was so much more than that) was the best part of our experience. The atmosphere was quaint and cozy.
Pizza was great, however they were under staffed (no one at the salad station) poor guy was making pizzas, making salads and opening and pouring wine as well as running the cash register. Get more help, please Cruz the pizza was delish!
PLEASE OPEN UP AGAIN I AM PREGNANT AND I AM SERIOUSLY CRAVING THE CHIPOTLE CHICKEN PIZZA !!!! I NEED IT
Ordered Margherita pizza as it seems good on wood fire but it was full of pasta sauce and they forgot to add cheese. Dough is nice and tasty
Phenomenal and fresh Pizza and Calzones and Salads!!! The staff is SUPER nice and always in friendly and on point with orders. Highly recommend!
I come in about once a week. Never disappointed. Everything is always nice and fresh and the way it should be. (:
I’m not sure if I had an allergic reaction to the pizza but I had diarrhea for the next 2 days after eating here
Pretty good, definitely liked it. Staff was friendly and they made my call in order when I walked in the door to ensure it was hot. The flavors didnt blow me away but I could tell it was good quality
Shockingly good pizzas. I was going in expecting something with a taste along the lines of Blaze and was blown away by what I got instead. The flavors on their specialty pizzas did not disappoint. Worth what you pay for them for sure.
Ive been wanting to try this spot in SB for a while now... so glad I finally made it in! Friendly staff, clean environment, and really good made-to-order pizza fired in these great super-hot brick wood ovens. I ate half of my pie, boxes the rest. The rest of the pizza made it exactly 1/2 block... tasty! Back again soon :))
Great service and food. I got a 12 inch pesto (that they make fresh) pizza for under $10. They have make your own pizzas and a few specialty ones. The pizzas are cooked in a stone oven and it only takes about 5 minutes for then to finish. The pizza tasted great. With fresh ingredients and a light, flavorful crust, it was definitely a pizza I would recommend and have again.
We have made it a tradition to go there every time were in town. They are really careful to avoid cross contamination with the gluten free crusts. Great food, friendly service!
Clean, friendly, and affordable prices. However, that first picture of the margarita with three full leafs of basil is misleading (posted by owner/Persona). In our margaritas, we were served “traces” of basil, and the tomato sauce had “can” smell.
Not all pizzas are the same. Sometimes you want deep dish, sometimes Round Table (A forvorite of mine), sometimes someplace where the pizza is marginal but the ambience fantastic, or sometimes like Persona. Ive never been in a place like this that is rather a fast food environment, but this pizza is delicious. If you like that 90 second cooked pizza that is chewy and soft, this is awesome. Plus they have decent beer on tap. If you like New York Style Pizza then you will like this place. When will a franchise open on the San Francisco Peninsula?
Amazing pizza. Their signature pizzas have a unique taste. A little more greasy than you would think, but not too heavy of a meal. The oven they use really makes a difference!
Persona is one of the cheap, great eats of State Street. One of their pizzas is ample for a starving person, or perfect for two who are a little pekid. Go for the pesto base! Honestly, you cant be disappointed for the low price. Its super fast to boot!
Went there a week ago. Pizza was good but we agree with another reviewer that the toppings were not cooked well. It was our first time there and the ordering process was confusing. Don’t really care for paying that much for pizza and salad and having to eat it with a small plastic fork that you get yourself. The beer was not cold at all. Husband went up to tell them and we had to pay to try another brand. It wasn’t cold either so we left three beers on the table. The atmosphere is pretty cool I must say but for the price they need to step up the customer service a notch.
While on vacation i stopped here for some pizza. The reviews looked good, so i figured Id try it out. Overall the food is good, and not too expensive at a glance. What was frustrating was how they force you through the line, making you make snap decisions, and not always listening. My wife asked for a side salad, and we ended up paying $7 for a salad we werent going to finish.Like i said, the food is good, but they could improve on how they deal with customers, maybe not making them feel like cattle.
BEST pizza Ive had. Santa Barbara has a lot of pizzerias but this one is by far my top pick. Great variety of quality toppings. Great service. Great pizza👍🏼🍕THANKS PERSONA!🍕
What a pizza parlour, had the 12 supreme and it was excellent.Highly recommended.
Great pizza, great staff, great music! Ended up here when we were searching for a pizza lunch. Really really enjoyed my Bianca with prosciutto, and my friend loved her veggie. Salads are a nice size to share in addition to.
Great pizza. Very fast. Great staff. Gluten free option. Wheat being used is grown in Italy, not USA. Tasty and convenient.
Pretty good pizza. Personal size is nice. Theyve got all the toppings you might want. Not amazing, though.
Honestly i love this place, i can not emphasize this enough this place is worth coming to. Its worth the money. :)
Fantastic pizza and great service. Excellent place.
They have a sign by the door that says slices made fresh to order. I walked in a full hour before closing and inquired. As I was trying to piece together a conversation with the person helping me, the man next to him told him he had pulled out the last two slices for the ladies ahead of me(meaning last two floppy pre cut dough pieces, not assembled or cooked yet). Given that it’s a busy holiday weekend (although actually pretty lowkey in their shop) I’m a bit surprised that they didn’t prep more or have a solution. I cannot feasibly eat a full pizza by myself so I guess it’s Brophy Bros for me! Two stars for lack of preparedness and also because the customer service was also a little bit lacking, not horrible but definitely not very helpful.
Not only does Persona have delicious pizza and friendly staff, they are happy to give back to the community. I asked for a discount for a Make A Wish Reveal party and they gave me a 50% discount without hesitation. Thank you Persona !
Its a bit pricey but still better than most restaurants on state if you want pizza. I prefer pieology or blaze. Good service.
Best Santa Barbara pizzas. Don t Miss thé 5 dollars margarita ( not the cocktail but thé pizza ...hahaha) every Monday :-)
The gluten free crust is quite impressive! The pizzas are always fast, fresh, and very tasty. It has been wonderful watching this place open last year and now expanding beyond SB. Cheers on wonderful pizzas, service, and a successful business!
Finally, a restaurant that I can’t say enough about. The pizza. the pizza, THE PIZZA!! It melts in your mouth, FLAVOR HOME RUN, CRUST !!!!! SAUCE !!!!!, I’m sorry I’m going on vacation.
Nice fast casual place. The pizza crust is good
Good pizza. Good specials. Not a lot of seating.
This place was AMAZING. The food was UNREAL. Our waiter, Liam, was ON IT, he was so informative, provided very helpful recommendations and was very enthusiastic. We will definitely be back . Thank you!
By far and away the worst pizza Ive had in SB. I hadnt been here in at least 6 months, but recently my husband and I picked up pizzas to take home after a movie. Thick doughy tasteless crust, canned tasting tomatoes sauce. I ordered the margarita...lots of awful tomatoes sauce with a few small dots of cheese and a few sad slivers of basil. None of the pizzas were very good (definitely not worth going back for), but mine was so bad, I called the store. I spoke with who I thought was the manager. I wasnt about to drive back to the store to get another, so he apprropiately said to come in and ask for him, and hed make me another. I told him I didnt think Id be by there any time soon, so he agreed to text me a coupon for a free pizza. He never did.
Excellent thin crust pizza made in a wood burning oven. The unique thing is that while there are a few special pizzas, you can make your own custom one by asking for the ingredients while they compose it in front of you. We took ours home as the music and seating isnt great, but the service is friendly.
I was arriving late one night and they were so kind enough to stay open for me. Nonetheless, the pizza is amazing! You are going to have to check it out yourself to know what Im talking about.
That Chipotle chicken pizza is so good. Mac and cheese pizza not so much.
Really great pizza, we wondered in after seeing lots of locals carrying their boxes around and we can see why! Great Woodford pizza!
One of the best places Ive eaten for a good pizza. Place was recommended by Vitor, Alan and Cliff
Great pizza, chicken wings, beer and customer service! Very Friendly staff!😊
They really had great service. When there was a problem with my order they took care of it immediately and gifted me with an extra pizza. Thank you for looking out guys! Not only is it delicious pizza but great service as well!
I was so disappointed that they changed their gluten free pizza crust. The old one was awesome! The new one was so bad that we returned the pizza even though we were starving. The manager did not offer to do anything to make the situation right. :(
I am enjoying a finely crafted pepperoni pizza made by a wonderful staff, great service, hot pizza, great atmosphere. Awesome day for this place! Glad I came in....
Very good pizza and salad. Had the Fiery Veggie. Deec. Service was spot on and price reasonable.
Neapolitan Pizzeria was pretty good -- but a tiny bit too thick. I went there shortly after the restaurant opened and I think they were still working out some kinks. Ive been to build your own pizza places that have it down to an art, and they were still very unorganized and slow. Overall, one of the better pizza places Ive been to in SB!
In my opinion they serve great pizza with an American touch because of the sauce on top
Loved this concept. Build your pizza as you go along kinda like Subway sandwiches. Wide variety of toppings and sauces and great tasting ingredients!
Ambience is good. But the food was ok ok.
Food was reasonably priced and tasty and friendly staff.
I ordered Chicken Wings, Chipotle Chicken Pizza and the Gluten Free Proscuitto Pizza. What I received was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. Instead of chicken wings, I got a salad. The salad was just a handful of rotten lettuce with some dressing. The proscuitto had, I kid you not, maybe 1 or 2 strips of shredded proscuitto with a ton of mozerella. The only thing that was decent was the chipotle chicken pizza. But there was hardly any chicken on it. Oh, and none of the pizzas were sliced.
Great pizza! Certainly one of the best in town (previous review was done in my pocket...)
Tasty food. Friendly service. Let them know ahead of time if you want the pizza cooked lightly or crispy.
Pizza is delicious... but the service was stunningly poor. I called in an order at 5:35p and they said 15-20 mins. I arrived 20 mins later and noticed the pizzas hadn’t been put in the oven yet... no big deal.I paid, gave them a tip and waited... and waited... and eventually asked what was happening as it had been 40 mins and I had called ahead. Mind you, this was on a slow Thursday night, literally no other ppl in the restaurant, just four incompetent employees. The assistant manager offered to refund half of my pizza order but got very defensive when I shared my dissatisfaction when I noticed my pizza were just sitting by the oven, uncooked for the entire 20 mins I was waiting there. Ended up taking nearly an hr... and still, nobody in line! It’s just pathetic.
Great pizza, clean place, and good service
Good pizza, nice sauce and nice staff. Venue also very clean and has a good atmosphere
Amazing pizzas for a fairly cheap charge given the culinary satisfaction. You will be more than satisfied if you choose Persona!
