Edit: just checked my credit card, and these people changed the tip amount I had left on the receipt. They charged me more in tips. I unfortunately didnt keep the receipt so there is noway to dispute it. Keep your receipt! Or just dont go here. Shame.Food was just ok. I got the snapper piccatta with fettuccine Alfredo and it was too buttery. They have a $12.99 lunch menu that they keep kind of down low. Great seating though. State street has been closed for cars for covid, so all these restaurants have added ample outdoor street seating a la Paris. That was my favorite part of the experience. Service was ok.
Decent drinks, the menu does not list ingredients which is problematic for people with food allergies. The server I had could jot list all the ingredients of what I ordered and and surprise surprise there was an ingredient I couldnt consume and I asked that the dish be remade and on the second time around ingredients where shifted and the same item that I didnt want in the first one was found.
Thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon lunch on the outdoor dining area. Service was efficient, menu selection varied and the food was delicious. Will return on a future visit to Santa Barbara.
This place is absolutely amazing from drinks to homemade pasta dishes, salads, fresh bread & our favorite…their infamous rib eye steak! Their professional & polite services. The ambiance is incredibly relaxing plus that era is my personal favorite. Definitely go there while visiting here in Santa Barbara!!!!
This is simply a fantastic steak destination in Santa Barbara. One of the best in The City, it more than holds its own against the Mortons and Ruths Chris of the steakhouse world. Never had a bad meal there.
Had a great meal there last night. Filet Mignon was buttery good, and the buttermilk mashed potatoes and snap peas were great complements. Our server Josh S was great. Sat in bar seating area. Chase Restaurant band was nice. Great experience!
Fun, classic Italian spot. Good service and huge portions.
Called to place an order. Put on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. Called back and phone was left off hook. Decided to drive and place order takeout at Chase. Payed over $100 in vegan food and drove 5 miles back to hotel. The vegan chicken piccata was not plant based. I realized It was actual chicken about three bites in. I havent had meat in years and this ruined my streak. . I had the vegan chicken picatta before and it was amazing. Thats why im giving 2 stars instead of 1.. Bummed...
Absolutely devine! Some of the most delicious Italian food Ive ever had the pleasure of tasting. Exceptional service to boot! Definitely worth your time to have a meal here.
I dont know how to rate this exactly. The food was delicious, but the service was very poor. Our waiter seemed very busy, and was rushing us when he would come to our table. A bird pooped on me. (not the restaurants fault)But then after I had cleaned up, the bird pooped on my freshly brought out entree. Again, not the restaurants fault. The only person who tried to help was the hostess, she was very sweet and helpful. I felt terrible that she was apologizing for something that was clearly not her fault, but she wanted to make things right. The manager was right outside when this happened and didnt say anything to us about it.The waiter briefly asked us if we were ok, then left. We had to wait for 25 minutes to get my entree. My husband was done eating, so we requested to go boxes. The bill was brought over full price. I didnt expect a free meal, but maybe a drink taken off at least?Again, the bird poop was out of their control, but the response was, and I felt like no one cared except for the hostessHostess 5 stars!Food 4 starsService 1½ StarBirds 0 stars
This is one restaurant Ive been enjoying since I was a kid and where we brought everyone visiting us from far away to. The outdoor patio is very charming and the inside has always been great. One of my favorite places to go at any time and the decor lends to the nostalgic feel. My favorite dish for the past 35 years is the red seafood chowder and clam linguini in white garlic sauce. Its fantastic every single time. This last visit was made even better with several large clams in an array added to the already savvy dish. A Santa Barbara landmark restaurant.
We really enjoyed our meal & celebrating our 20th Anniversary dinner! We had the gluten free pasta with Alfredo & the egg plant rolatini and they were both delicious! A big thank you to Brandon, our waiter who made the evening nice & shared a great hiking spot recommendation. Which we did go on the next day!! Thank you Chase Restaurant we felt safe & had plenty of space!
What a great experience on the sidewalk extention patio of Chase Restaurant on State Street, Santa Barbara! Excellent spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs after a yummy dinner salad with house vinagrette and a freshly baked mini loaf. Dessert was shared - New York Cheesecake with red raspberries and drizzle. True to their past and nailing Covids challenges! Kudos, Chase
The food is so bad. Our server was so sweet and there was a little baby possum that frequented our table. That’s where two stars come from. The bread is cold, stale. The pasta sauce is like a can of tomato paste. The noodles broke apart, overcooked. So, so bad.
I came to dine on Sept 25th with my wife and our 3 months baby. This was a cold evening. We were seated at a patio table where we were waiting for a long time to have the heater on. They were taking too long so I approached the hostess and inquired about it. After several minutes, a waitress came to let us know they were out of propane. This was very disappointing, but we were willing to be relocated, instead, they walked us out. This was very disrespectful to my family. We walked away and wnded dinning at Oppiz. I dont know if the food is better there, but the service was absolutely outstanding. You guys at Chase Restaurant could learned better manners
Honestly, I get staffing shortages. I get that things right now are difficult. But when we sat down, we were not contacted by a waiter for 20 minutes. We didnt order until about an hour after we got there. We waited two hours until we actually got our food. They said one of their cooks called off. But, we received no communication from the staff until we had to basically beg them for some kind of service or update. We had four people. We ordered two appetizers, three drinks, and three entrées. Due to the unreasonably excessive time we spent there, we ordered more drinks. At the end of it all, we got a weak apology and were compd off for a single round of drinks. Our appetizers never arrived and they generously removed them from the bill. Our bill was still over $200. We just left the restaurant after two and a half hours. Very disappointed. The worst service and restaurant experience Ive ever had. I really hope my experience was an anomaly.
Great food, great service. Well done Chase!
Overpriced for the food they serve you. They’re understaffed as well and the service was slow to take our check. About ten minutes of waiting.Would not go again.
Awesome staff. Food was very good and they even surprised me with a free birthday drink! Really cool.
We had a great lunch. The service was great too.
Pretty good but not great.
Great Food!Great Service!Great Waiter!Amazing Night in Chase Italian Restaurant in Santa Barbara!!!
Love love love this beautiful place. Great ambiance. Great for a group of friends or a special someone to enjoy a romantic dinner or alone this place will satisfy your appetite with incredibly delicious Italian foods. Their tomahawk ribeye is insane.. enjoy it.
Was very excited to be able to dine in again amidst all this covid-19 period. Unfortunately should not have picked Chase for my first meal at a restaurant after 3 months. They were extremely understaffed which is understandable after coming out of lock down but maybe they should have prepared more before opening their doors. Service was extremely slow. Sat there 30 mins only to be asked what we’d like to eat. We didn’t even have menus yet! We asked for bread and server told us they were out even though the other server was providing bread to other tables. Food was very mediocre and didn’t have much flavor. Also never got my side salad. Noticed that the workers in the kitchen weren’t wearing gloves or masks! Only good thing was the meal was fairly cheap.
Good food, about average in price. Nice outside seating. Yummy
Good food. Friendly service. Good COVID protocols. Nice to sit in the street in the open air and people watch. I hope State St stays closed so places like this can thrive.
Food was good. The wait for the food was very long. They have a small kitchen but lots of tables.
We had a great time at this restaurant. All has gone smoothly. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. I adore it and intend to return for a visit as soon as possible.
Nice atmosphere, nice servers, the food could be better for the price
The service was not good, we ordered 2 drinks but were never offered additional. Apparently they have bread but we never recieved any. Food and drinks were mediocre but not worth the price. We didnt see our waitress until they came to offer our check.
A treat good food great atmosphere, be hungry they feed you well.Portions are large you can split a meal or take home for another, Yum.
Had the salmon in the orange reduction with angel hair alfredo. Fabulous lunch.
I am giving this one star only because the waitress was nice, and that was the only good thing about this place! The food was very bad! We ordered halibut twice. Sadly, it came cold, very dry and basically uneatable with very bad flavor! My daughter had fettuccine Alfredo which was also overcooked with too much fatty sauce. We totally wasted almost $200! Go somewhere else☹️
From the server to the manager ( Warren Butler ) absolutely terrible service. To make matters worse the manager was drunk 😵 I could smell the alcohol 🍻 on him! And now they have 11 city violation against them.
We were very excited to eat here and so very disappointed when we left. I ordered the grilled salmon and grilled vegetables. The vegetables were cut in thick chunks and were stone cold. The salmon was pan fried and over cooked. For a $32 plate I was extremely disappointed. They brought me a new plate of vegetables that were raw and undercooked. My friend had the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and it came with a huge bowl of noodles and about 6 shrimp. All in all, it was not worth the money or time.
Good location. But my pasta marinara was disappointment. Spaghetti with changed tomatoes... may be Im mistaken with what marinara means...
Such a wonderful spot! We visit the Chase often and we have never been disappointed. The food is always great and the staff is always top notch. Whether you are a local or just in town for the day, this is the place to eat!! Highly suggest the capone drink!!
It used to be great but after my last visit I would never eat here again
Food was amazing! Really good drinks and perfect spot for a romantic date night. Staff was very friendly and accommodating
Not sure how I feel about the fact that I had to wait 2 hours for food. 30min, fine, 1 hour, fine, but 2 hours….no.
Great location, scrumptious food. Better to go early, sometimes they run out of popular options.
Stay away from this place. Sub par food at best and completely disorganized staff. Our server did a good job. Hostess was completely checked out. I rarely give reviews only if I have what I feel is a terrible meal and experience.Too many other options in SB to ever consider this place.
Great service, delicious food, excellent ambience.
Great steak, slow service. But, I enjoy it. Im a repeat customer and would probably go here again.
A Beautiful setting and great music provides a wonderful atmosphere of fun and relaxation, along with very friendly staff and delicious food and very affordable specials. I was on vacation while in Santa barbra and went there 3 different days just because it was that good!!
Best food and impeccable service in town!
Under staffed with young unexperienced wait staff. Food was cold and poor quality product. Used to be great. Never going back.
Food was okay, overpriced I thought. The bread they serve I would have preferred warm. The staff was very attentive and friendly. My biggest concern was how the wait staff is being treated. There was an error in my order when it went through, and the waiter said theyd fix it on my bill by taking money out of their own pocket. I was shocked to hear, as I wouldnt want my complaint to take money from my server. Clearly thats pressure from management to not make mistakes or they get fired. The restaurant should eat that cost, not the staff. Mistakes happen its part of being human, but dont punish your hardworking employees for it. Shameful.
Tiramisu is on pointAnd the Martin Raye rose as wellGreat service
Another example of a restaurant that has been a part of our family tradition for years. The Chase offers a very classic, jazzy vibe along side its flavorful dishes.I typically get the chicken provencal with a side of fettuccine alfredo. I dont want to even try to guess how many calories are in this thing but, my goodness, it is rich and absolutely delicious! Perfect dish if you like garlic and butter. And while youre there, you can find a framed picture of me and my husband in the back (told you it was a tradition ☺️).
Through the last year they have had a line down the street. The food is that good!
Chase restaurant has the greatest Veal Parmesan in the world! This Santa Barbara restaurant has an ideal state Street setting outdoors with music, lighting, ambience, and a terrific staff. And Warren Butler is a very attentive MC. I really love their website too as it helps me to order food for takeout quickly and easily.
Good site for italian food. I love it here. Looking forward to a return trip. The place has a cool atmosphere.
Terrible service, hair in food, waitress did not care at all about her tables, did not even get some of the food we ordered and it was still on the bill (waitress was confused when we asked to take it off)Appetizers and entrees at the same time, lukewarm food all aroundAbsolutely do not go here unless you want to waste money
Good place for a quick lunch
The food was delicious and the service was particularly considerate.
Very nice atmosphere on the patio with accommodating owner who accepted us & another party @ closing time (8pm Wednesday). Unfortunately, food was aweful. I wouldnt give the bread they had to the birds. Fried ravioli was overdone, lasagna was bland, chicken parm could have use a decent piece of chicken & manara sauce instead of paste.
Terrible service! After we were seated we waited 20 minutes untill the server came to get our drink orders then once our food order was taken and brought to us server never came to our table to check on us, she only showed up to pick up our bill. Terrible service, will NOT be returning!
Both horrible, food and service. Do not recommend to go even if you are terminally hungry.
Pesto rolls were delicious. I had 12 oz NY Steak with. fettuccini alfredo and caesar salad. All of it delicious. Ambience was great with outside patio dining and server was courteous and attentive.
Star just for the waitress. Food is bad and not worth for the expensive bill.
This is the most incredible place to eat and enjoy a moment of love and great food..1000% recommend this treasure to everyone.
Had a wonderful lunch, with my honey
Great food, great service!
Good size portions and tasty food. Live piano. The kitchen is just too small for the amount of patrons so very slow service.
Delicious food but very poor service ! Not enough staff, so expect to wait forever for dinner ( dedicate all evening for one Pasta 🤪) Worth it, don’t know !!!!
Food was great, but service was ok.
Shrimp alfredo fettuccine is super good there
Unfortunately we had disappointing experience. The wait staff were slow and flustered and the food took ages to come out. We waited over 15 minutes at our table for our waiter to even greet us. When the food did come out, it was mediocre at best. I had the halibut special. The fish was fine, but the steamed vegetables were a bit of an afterthought and did not taste of anything. Rounding up to a three star review as my wife got the chicken and it was good. I think well be trying somewhere different next time were in town.
Always enjoy the food! Thanks!
Food was excellent.
The food, the environment, and the service were some of the best Ive experienced in a long while. Their shrimp pesto flatbread was to die for! So good we went 2 days in a row on our vacation😋 They have the friendliest staff that truly make you feel at home and welcomed. This place is a definitely a place to enjoy your time at while in Santa Barbara.
Jack and Franky thank you so much for the wonderful service, you guys were outstanding. Excellent food, the Cioppino was delicious. We will be definitely be coming back for more. Again thank you, you guys made our weekend.
Great food, but terrible service.
Overcooked dry fish, slow service, erroneous check.
Delicious food and extraordinary service. We dined on Halloween night and shared the ribeye. Sooo perfect . Our server was dressed like tigger .. he was fun, attentive and engaging. Definitely will return when we come back to SB.
Great service great food.
The first dinner and first time come to this city, very huge steak and very nice taste. Forgot my back bag with Id inside when I left. The guys very kindly keep the back bag for me. Really appreciated.
Wait staff was friendly. One person in our party did not get their meal until everyone else was done. Another person got theirs when the other people were halfway done. I think they should not have charged for the meal of that one person.
Lots of food on each plate.
