Steve and staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and have that rare jewel.... Integrity!
I love Steves work. Been going to him my entire life; never done bad work and never over charges
Like doctors, because of most of us are ignorant of the major portions of medicine and mechanics, its hard to find a mechanic you can trust. But I have complete faith in everyone at Northgate Auto. They are honest and have told me at least once that my car is not worth fixing, dont waste your money. And I truly appreciate that. I also know that their repairs are done well, with knowledgeable expertise and fair pricing. I wont take my car anywhere else.
Steve is both a really nice guy and a great automotive technician. Just bought an older 94 Ford Ranger, and its old and was a decent deal. It was idling really rough, check engine light came on periodically, and transmission was shifting poorly. Steves suggestion was lets get it running right and well figure out the rest. Later on in the same day, he has fixed two vacuum leaks, flushed transmission and changed the air filter. He had the running condition fixed for $90......I told him to proceed with the transmission and air filter. Come 5 oclock, I had a completely different car for $350 including tax. Honest & reliable service. Recommend highly
I took my car to Northgate Automotive when the check oil light came on. They gave me the right advice at the right time. Very very helpful. They didnt charge me anything for checking the cause of fault and giving me the right advice. Ill take my car to this service station anytime without hesitation.
Great experience! Had trouble starting my car for a non-battery related issue. Steve diagnosed the issue and had my car back on the road in the same day. Ended up being a bad distributer cap. Price was fair and honest. Had a nice conversation with Steve about cars as well. Friendly and honest service in my experience.
Honest and experienced shop that you can trust
Knowledgeable fair and friendly. Shop clean and well organized
I first brought my car to Northgate auto when the battery died overnight with nothing left on to cause it. The owner tested the battery and told me it the battery was in good condition and to come back to figure out the underlying problem if the problem persisted. A couple days later, my battery died twice in one day and I had it towed to Northgate auto after hours. The next morning I called right after opening to see when they would be able to look at it, and the owner was very rude and defensive when I was asking simple question like if he was going to be able to look at it today? Or would he have to push back to tomorrow because of previous appointments made for that day? I was also trying to figure out what his diagnostic fee was and he was also very defensive and rude about that. He accused me of asking to cut all the other appointments that were already made for that day, as well as accusing me of asking him to work for free when I did none of these things. I took my car to a different shop to find that the battery was five years old and was I very poor condition. I had it replaced and haven’t had any problems since.
At North gate Automotive they are very responsive and cosiderate. The owner Steve Pugh has decades of experience and they stand behind his work, he is a passionate mechanic and an excellent craftsman. He took care of my Land cruiser after many attempts including including with Toyota of Marin where they charged me a lot more for basically not fixing the issues.
