Fun, centrally located, great menu and fantastic space! Our young professionals group has been hosting mixers at Grape & Grain for a few years and were always blown away by how accommodating they are, the bartenders provide excellent recommendations on wine and beer, they have a delicious appetizers menu and a great space for colleagues and friends to meet each other. Thank you Grape & Grain for continuing to be such gracious hosts!

Love this cocktail spot. Have been a couple of times now and each time have only had a couple minutes wait at the table outside. The bouncer is extremely friendly and brought us drink menus to look through while we waited, even offering recommendations on drinks based on the alcohols we prefer. The first time I went, he recommended the Singapore Sling and now I get it every time I go.

Fantastic little Indy bar. Great owner, cares about the experience and product. Small but steong tap selection, remote and local. Great bottle selection for both beer and wine. Good room, large fam style table. Big selection of board games if thats your thing.

Super cute place for beer and wine. A tiny spot with the perfect date ambiance. Definitely hard to find seating for more than two here, so dont come with a group, but do some with a significant other or a friend or two.Theyve got a constantly rotating beer list with quite the variety, a good wine list, and bar snacks besides. I love the half-popped popcorn & corn nuts.Theyve got a crowd almost every night of the week, so be prepared to stand for a bit before grabbing a seat.

Excellent beer selection, pleasing atmosphere, and great service. Noise level does get a bit high, but not to levels that interfered with me enjoying my beer. I think they could benefit from adding additional artwork to the walls, and installing some acoustic tile.

Grape & Grain is a great place to either start or end your night. It has a mellow environment and bohemian feel as well as a bunch of really potent beers on tap. Theyre wine selection is also pretty good. If your looking for casual conversation with friends this is the spot for you.

The best place to get craft beer in San Mateo. The place is small and cozy in the best way. Only eight beers on draft (typically), but I can promise those beers will be expertly curated. Just a phenomenal place to drink beer.

Started here for the beer and boardgames. They have a wine selection but Im not a wine drinker. The bartenders are friendly, the people are friendly. Usually have working class people of all ages. Beers rotate weekly, great selection. 8 variety at a time.

Real beer connoisseurs look elsewhere.This place kicked my family out because of our 3 year old son. The place was *empty* on a saturday evening. We politely explained we were from out of town, and werent aware of whatever law. They very aggressively showed us the door as though we were drinking underage! With a 3 year old!! Yes, Im serious!Have you ever been to a good craft beer spot that would treat a family like that? They want a frat party vibe and kids are a buzzkill I guess?Anyways, this is not my kind of place. The ambience is dark, uninspired and cheap. Just not the kind of taproom to relax and sample brews.

This is a great little place to meet to enjoy local wines and beers. The Reisling was on the vinegary side like it had turned, so thats the reason for only 4 stars, however the Merlot was tasty.

Came here for a friends birthday last Saturday. Even though it wasnt full when I arrived at around 8:30, the place got busier with time. Im not a big fan of the big picnic style shared table to start off.Secondly, it a self service bar. You go and get your drinks from the bar which is ok, but at least there should be a staff member that brings you water. I mean its silly to go to the bar, stand in line and wait just to get a cup of water.When I was there, it was very hot inside. I dont know what the issue was but we were sweating! They definitely need to turn on the AC specially when it gets crowded.I personally would prefer going to some other bar with service, specially if the prices are the same.

Atmosphere is not very personal. So much unused space that could be conducive to better seating arrangement. Wine selection is small. The beers were ok. Could be better unique selections.

The airy, warehouse like space just off 3rd Avenue has the feel of a brew pub. The beer and wine selection is acceptable, and the after work crowd of twenty-somethings is cheerful. Our large group was often broken up by the bar staff, who kept shuffling us along the walls, even though we werent blocking any customers nor crowding the bar. Service is otherwise pleasant.

I like this place a lot because of the beers they have on tap. Really cool place to get said beer or cider or wine and hang out with friends. They have board games and TVs for when the game is in. Otherwise they play some classic movies. The only downside is their food selection sucks...like a lot.

Great local watering hole. An always changing beer menu with leading beers from local producers. Theres always an IPA, a sour, and a stout on - in some form. The wine list is also limited, but carefully selected. The atmosphere has cheesy (so awful-their funny) netflix movies on in the background.

Delicious wine and craft beer selection for many tastes. Rare because most places cater to specific types, e.g., IPA fans. The vibe is also low key and people are friendly.Downside is theres nothing else going on and last call is like 10pm. So.. great place if you are localish, older, and care only to drink nice alcohol before turning in early.

Nice and cozy place. Had a great Apple Spiced Sour from Hermitage and an they have an extensive wine list. Beer menu was definitely lacking, but not too much of a draw back. Comfy couches and table tops down the wall.Im a hop head and that was the reason for the 4 stars. 1 IIIPA, otherwise stout, brown ale, sour, pilsner, and lager. There was no option for a IIPA, IPA...should at least have an option for 6.5-8% IPA at all times. Thats just me being picky.The pilsner from Crux was at least decent and flavorful with hop, honey and effervescent body.Definitely will go back and chill again!Thank you Grape & Grain!

Meh. Too many douchey IPAs. Guess what. The era of the acid wash jeans of beers are rapidly coming to a close. Dedicate more handles to drinkable beers and people will appreciate it. They have a righteous console of classic video games. That makes this place worth visiting.

Came here on a Friday night with friends and found this venue to be a perfect place to chill and socialize. A small and casual place with a healthy selection of craft beers on tap, I took my Belgian Tripel and enjoyed playing several rounds of CAH.
