As always, Holland did a wonderful job. Scheduling an appointment was easy and convenient. I trust Holland with my car and the costs have been very competitive. The work was completed earlier than promised and when I picked it up, it had been washed. David is efficient and kind and makes the whole process a positive experience.

Always great customer service, no-nonsense communication, and good people here. Nice big, safe parking lot if you need to leave car overnight, and walking distance to Caltrain/ downtown San Mateo. I love the text-based communication/ confirmation of appointments. Lots of confusion the last time, however, on appointment scheduling - online let me schedule, email back they werent available, another text confirming the appointment that had just been cancelled, mostly without names/ attribution. Turned out to be confusion between two locations, which was a bummer and an inconvenience. Hoping they get THAT sorted out, but were loyal customers anyway. Davids awesome.

David had a courtesy car already waiting for me, which I greatly appreciated. He managed to squeeze me in at the last minute and got all of the work done on my car that needed to be.It drives so much better now!

From my initial request for an appt to the pick up of my car after service, Holland Car Care in San Mateo was a pleasure to work with. They were reliable, communicative, trustworthy, thorough & transparent. They performed an oil change on my Mini, tested the brakes as well as did some additional work (and extensive clean up) - replacing the air filter and splicing wiper fluid hose - due to rodents taking up shop under my hood. Happy to say my car is driving much better now!

Honest reliable service

We have been bringing our family cars - now a VW and a Honda - to Holland for almost two decades. They have been consistently honest and their prices are always less than the dealers. Whats more they are nice people who do great work. I recommend them without hesitation.

Good location, next to down town San Mateo so you could leave car and hang out, grab a bite/ coffee while car gets serviced. They dont allow any lobby waiting at this time. You drop the car and go. They respected the time promised, which is important to me.

Good customer service, however the guys are not good at doing alignment. After my alignment the steering wheel was not aligned. I brought the car back explaining the issue and after my 2nd visit the steering wheel was still miss-aligned.

2001 BMW 325 - great service at a fair price. Also helped me develop a service plan for a few items upcoming that I will need to address. Felt well taken care of here!

Dave at Holland is awesome. My wife has a BMW 335i and they have been servicing it for years and it runs strong.

Came in for a check engine light on my 2010 Mini because I couldn’t figure out the problem myself. My research led me to the MAF but I brought it in to Holland to be 100% sure. Turns out one of my O2 sensors needed to be cleaned and that was all! Aside from other maintenance. They did a wonderful job on my car and its running better than ever. It is a bit pricy but it’s quality work you can guarantee on. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Had my older BMW overheat suddenly and severely. I was dreading taking it to a BMW owned repair shop as I figured it was going to cost me an arm and leg as Im finally out of warranty/maintenance plan. Holland was really close to my work and the shop had good reviews so I went there. David was really helpful and the repair was under $200 and done within a few hours! awesome experience.

Great service getting me in first thing in the morning for an oil change so that I can wait for it and get back to work. Replaced a bulb that burned out to resolve a warning message. This time they didn’t forget me in the waiting room that my car was done.

The not so good: Got my thermostat casing replaced on my Mini Cooper there last February before I moved to the east bay. Have had to take it in three times already for warranty on that part, and its leaking coolant around that part again. They seem either nonchalant or unwilling to take responsibility for this, and have so far blamed my regular mechanic once and this time told me that this part gets warrantied a lot. If you need to warranty a repair you did four times within eight months and are trying to normalize it, Im reaaaaal glad you arent my doctor. Checked with my regular mechanic who told me they do not have this issue with the same repair. My trust is broken and Im frustratingly getting ready to pay for someone else to do it right and not keep wasting my time or risk seriously overheating my engine.The good: Theyre always really nice and polite when I call and try to get me in as fast as possible. Its really close to downtown San Mateo while you wait. Cheaper than SF (half as much!) and east bay.

Had a problem with headlight bulbs going out all the time. Problem solved when a short was found and the headlight was replaced.

I spoke with Shawn Albin last week (the service manager, excellent guy), said I wanted to thank the shop for the great service. Shawn let me know their favorite pizza place. The morning of the pizza delivery, I jotted down a few notes, because I wanted to call Mark, the owner, and thank him personally, the notes turned into a letter, which I read to him over the phone, then fax it to him before the pizza arrived.
