This has got to be the most amazing thrift store I’ve ever been to! I found some great buys, spent maybe $75 and got stuff for myself and for my boyfriend! Some things were still brand new with tags and others were absolute steals for the brand names! The staff was super friendly, the fitting rooms were very clean, and everything was neatly organized! Love this place I wish there was one in Houston!!

Horrible customer service. I was there YESTERDAY and my 15 month old ripped off my tag and now they won’t let me return it. It even says on my receipt EXACTLY what I’m returning. I will not be shopping here ever again!

The staff was nice and acknowledging very informative. The girl at the desk advised me they would look up prices online and could offer 50% if I heard her correctly. They offered 29.00 for 13 of my items and most of them were new with tags which I didnt find fair, roughly 2.30 per item!.The selection of new items in the store is nice but the selection of used items is not very good and some used things are over priced. So they are making a huge profit and offering hardly anything back in my experience. These are some of my brand new items I brought in. This was my first time here and Ive had better experiences at Platos.

Great place, great people. As soon as my daughter and I walked in they greeted us in a friendly manner. We looked around, someone asked if we were doing ok. Which I loved, so great customer service. I went in to Uptown Cheapskate the other day looking for 3 specific articles of clothing and I wasn’t having the easiest time finding it. One of the workers introduced herself to me as Gracie and told me all about the sales they are having and if I needed help finding anything. After explaining what I was looking for she told me to follow her. So I did. She then proceeded to find all three of the clothing pieces I was looking for first try. I’m am very pleased with the customer service and the quality of clothes they are reselling. Uptown Cheapskate For The Win!!!

Really cool selection of clothes! Ive found great items here with less hassle than at the larger thrift stores. They have several changing rooms and the store is always spectacularly clean.

I was traveling through San Marcos and decided to check this place out. I was so impressed walking in. This is not like those other consignment shops. There were at least 3 staff members in there hustling to keep the store tidy and they were all attentive and helpful. They have some new merchandise also. I was pressed for time but still found 2 awesome pieces and I will absolutely be back.

The staff member that was at the register was very polite and provided excellent customer service.

No matter what I always leave this place with something. Gems everywhere! Worth checking out once a month for gym clothes, graphic tees, and even dress/work clothes when needed.

Staff will come up to you and ask if you need help. At checkout its easy to have a nice conversation with your cashier because they are all very friendly. Customer service is very attentive and happy to help with dressing rooms, putting extra items on hold while you shop, and they greet you at the door right away. Their dollar days sale is always chock full of great stuff. Normally, the prices you get there are typically a little higher compared to Platos. However they have a big section of vintage items as well as local boutique items. Ive seen them offer a really fun variety of sunglasses. Seashells, leaves, and box shapes. I dont see that anywhere else honestly. Trade-in values are relatively okay and you do have to regular there often in order to get points. The jewelry section is quite small. In the long run, the primary second hand items you find at this store are clothes. The rest are shoes and larger accessories. They also accept target brands like wild fable and xhilaration. The purse section has a pretty decent selection and there are some really expensive brands on shelf displays. Outside of sale days, its a little quiet and the shopping experience is very casual. I thought that was interesting. If yall want to come to this place, check it out. Very unique place and its locally owned.

Only had 10 minutes to shop, but I got lucky and found a pair of American Eagle white denim shorts for only $8! This is by far the best retail shop in San Marcos. I come here at least once a month, sometimes more! As far as selling goes, they offer you a decent price and if you take the store credit option it’s even more! I also love shopping here because they have so much stuff and the employees are all so sweet! They even have amazing deals like 20-60% off certain stickers and more! If you’re looking for nice clothes for a GREAT price, this is the place to check out! I have found some amazing items at this location! They also buy your used clothes too! The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because I feel like it all depends on the individual buying your clothes and if they think it’s “stylish” enough to buy or not.

Had a great experience selling! The employees were all very attentive and smiled while still hard at work. They don’t act rude at all when they can’t take your clothes, which is a big step up from other places I’ve been to. The only issue I had is there is not a large selection of plus sized clothing options for women, and the ones that are aren’t very fashionable. They do have a great selection in sports wear for plus size. They have a very cute selection of shoes. The men’s clothing is very nice. Will return to keep on shopping!

I am simply stunned by some of the comments here and cant help but wonder if theyre from a competitor. No store is prefect but not only have I found a number of cool pieces here for both my girlfriend and me at a great price but the staff is always very attentive. They have some great new items too and the prices on those are also excellent.Ive never been thrilled with what I get for selling but I got more here than I have anywhere else and when they were offering 40% more for store credit, that was far more than Ive been offered anywhere else including Austin or San Antonio, even at consignment shops.I dont know if everyone will love this place as much as we do but they get in a lot of new items daily and it is most certainly worth checking out on a regular basis IMHO.

I have not shopped here but today I cut my hand skateboarding and drove to the nearest store I could find because I felt as if I was gonna pass out. When I ended up at this location the staff welcomed me and administered proper first aid on the spot. I was comforted and given water and crackers to equalize my blood sugar. I truly appreciate the kindness expressed by the staff here. Thank you

The people were REALLY nice here. But the selection for plus size/seasonal apparel was really lacking. A lot of plus size stuff was overworn or frumpy. I found ONE dress that I liked.

Looked and smelled beautiful from the start. Went to sell some iteams and the associates were very kind and explained how everything worked. The associates also asked of we needed help and noticed when we needed a dressing room before we asked. Will definitely be making this a spot to shop at.

After being poorly treated at Platos Closet I came to Uptown Cheapskate and was treated like an absolute princess! Platos denied all of my clothes while Uptown gladly took some of mine in. The girl who helped me with the nose ring and glasses wasnt very friendly.I find it annoying you can’t leave the store. I asked if it’s okay if I run to grab a coffee and come back (because I knew it take awhile) but she kind of gave me a distasteful look and told me we should be done with my bag in 15 mins.So I waited right by the cashier 30 minutes later. Which isn’t a big deal but was annoying. I could have left and come back. Which they say you can do but apparently give you dirty looks if you do. The girl working put a bad taste in my mouth with how unfriendly she was. If you don’t like your job don’t work there.Be friendly and let us leave and come back. Shouldn’t be that big of a deal to hold us there.

I sold some clothes plus a sterling silver ring and necklace. They only offered to give me five dollars. I do like the store but feel I never get a fair deal when I try to sell here.

Great prices in all sizes, clean, fairly easy to go through and most of the employees are very helpful! I shop here a few times a month and can always find great clothes and shoes at cheap prices! Open 10-8pm I think M-sunday. They mostly give a fair price for clothes I bring in. My husband likes fishing shirts like Magellan and Ive found 3 or 4 now for $10 or less in great or new shape.

Kudos to Kayla for going through a bunch of hassle for me, while I held on the phone, and she went to hunt down something I was looking for. I live a 25 minute drive away and wanted to make sure they had what I wanted before making the drive. I have been there a few times and always leave with a few items. Although Kaila did find one exact thing I wanted, I didnt want to do the 35 mile round-trip just for the one thing.Im giving 5 stars, anyway, because of the grand customer service. I will be in San Marcos probably Saturday and will go in to the store and probably get a few things.

This place is awesome! Super organized and clean. Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, down to the cashier. They seemed to really enjoy working there. Much easier to go through than Platos. It is a much more upscale resale experience and reminds me a bit of Montrose back home. My ONLY qualm is that the shoe sections are labeled with itty bitty stickers from a label maker so you do have to go down every aisle and move past people to see what size was in what section. A few big size flags would do the store some good. It wasnt a big enough issue for me to not love my experience and already plan a second trip back. I got the outfit below for $12. Also I LOVED the fact that the spacious dressing rooms have 3 labeled hooks so you know which ones you didnt like, havent tried on and want to purchase are. So handy.

My favorite uptown cheapskate location. I have been to the ones in SA and Dallas but this one is soooo awesome! A lot of the clothes still had original tags and the high brand selection was pretty big. Plus the staff were nice and attentive. They even took the time to have a small conversation with my 7yr old to see how his day was going.

Ok, I get that they are having a charity sale, great. However, not allowing you to look before purchasing (“donating”) a $15 bag is poor policy. I was probably going to purchase that and look around the store, but was not allowed to even view the items before buying a bag? How do I know if I want anything? What if there’s nothing I want? Very very poor policy. Maybe that was just the people that were talking to me. One employee was kind. One was not. So maybe it’s a 50/50 shot. Still, however, a poor experience.

Great selection most staff were ok but the particular associate i dealt with seemed maybe prejudice, or at least in different towards people not the same as her.....

So I wanted to give this place a chance since it is a resale store and I love shopping at Platos Closet. So I went into this store looking for a deal and did not find one. The store was clean but the quality of the clothes did not match up with the prices they were asking for. I am glad I went in just to say I did but if you want a deal keep with the other used clothing stores in San Marcos.
