Super cute mom and pop store with a decent selection sushi grade fish and Japanese cooking essentials. Shop small/local!!
Old family owned grocery store in J-town. Fresh bento available seafood, chicken and vegetable only options. A low key, smaller alternative to Nijiya
I really like this grocery store. Friendly service and prompt help. I get my Natto here and other Japanese specialties. Then I get me a nice lunch at the courtyard. So convenient.
Love the place. Good food.
One of the traditional supermarkets in San Francisco Japantown that had stood the test of time. You may not know but they have agreements with other shops in Japantown to sell their sweets or Goods packaged to be sold exclusively at this market. This is truly a one-stop-shop if you want the best of San Francisco Japantown. Stop by the Yasukochis Sweet Stop in the corner of the market to get their famous coffee cake to go. Super Mira even has a sit down area with tables so you can enjoy their cooked food right after they have been prepared.
The store offers unique products and delicious cooked meals. The chef is very well-known in the Japan Town community. The owner and staff are very friendly. It is very pleasant to shop there!
I love this store. I bet its looked this way on the inside since the 60s or something. Its probably a tad more expensive here for the same items you can get outside at a supermarket but Id rather give them my money. People are friendly, the store is super clean and this is the home of Yasukochis Sweet Shop.
My go-to super market for small amount of groceries. Their lunch/organic veggies are great. Mira san is super nice. They offer organic vegetable box for order bi weekly too if you live around the area. (Directly from local Japanese farm)
Although they dont have the vast selection as Nijiya their prices are definitely more competitive. They also have more limited hours as well. Their produce and grocerirs are just as fresh and theres some items you cant get at Nijiya. I always come here first before visiting Nijiya since its much less crowded and less expensive. The shopkeepers are extremely friendly and helpful as well. During the weekends they also have hot food at the deli.
Amazing selection, delicious deli items freshly made
Same selection as usual. Was overcharged on a food item. Not by much but would appreciate transparency if you going to upcharge me. Glad this place is still here but if the store is going to upcharge their customers its not a place I want to visit.
Great Crunch Cake in the bakery. (Blums receipe)
Small but empty. I got my favorite tea here. Darn that bakery is not open on sundays. Remember they close at 4:30 pm.
Sorry, but my last visit was disappointing. I know theyre a staple in this Japanese community, but I prefer Nijaya much more. Super Mira used this oily canned foul tasting tuna in their maguro onigiri. The prepared fried foods was average given the high price. Was very off-putting especially for the price. They do seem to have a decent selection of other traditional Japanese off the shelf items.
Friendly staff. Serve homemade Japanese food.
Many choices of Japanese deli
If you arent Japanese the clerks are very rude. Older man behind the counter was friendly to the person ahead of us. When it was our turn his demeanor changed completely. He just glared at us and yelled at my Mom because she has poor eyesight and couldnt read the numbers on the cash register too well. Will not be back.
This place offers fair pricing for most their products with a few hiccups in others. Their sashimi is incomparable in terms of price, but you also do pay for just above average quality. This is the cheapest sea urchin you will find in all of Japantown.
In and out easy have most things
Great store! It had everything I was looking for and more. Definitely recommend if youre in urgent need of an ingredient for your Japanese cravings.
I think this place has the best prices on nishiki rice. And the instant ramen with the cartoon tanuki on it, spicy tonkotsu flavor, is really good and nijiya and daiso dont carry it. And they have colored wasabi and yuzu infused tobiko which is absolutely lit
I love this market and dont know why it took me so long to discover! They have a great selection of sake and Japanese snacks. Also, sushi grade fish and other ingredients. Prices are reasonable and they managed to pack a good variety of things for the size of the shop. I havent tried their cooked to order food, But Id like to.
Love this place. Like a neighborhood Japanese store but even better with bakery. Place to go for fresh fish sashimi.
One of the few remaining old school grocery stores in Japan Town. Their bakery inside has the most amazing cakes.
Great small Japanese market. You can find organic produce and fresh prepared food (including delicious hot lunches)! Yasukochis Sweet Stop is located inside, and pretty much everyone loves the coffee crunch cake.
Staff is courteous, but some dont speak Japanese. You can get the basic Japanese grocery items here. The vegetable and frozen good selections are limited. I would not recommend buying cooked food here. They dont have the best taste, and arent always fresh.
Cute Japanese market with essentials. They have themed fresh food days (ie. Tempura Tuesday, sweet chicken Sat) which you can get freshly cooked Japanese food! I love it. They also have this tiny bakery inside, with suuuuper good roll cakes. Must try!
Cute little Japanese store has many goods and I get the tempura veg. or sushi lunches.
Nice selections of Asian vegetables and fresh Japanese foods.
Great bentos, really nice staff.
Nice local grocery store. Has a slightly different selection of items compared to Nijiya. The ready to eat food its really good, but has a narrow selection. There is also a kitchen that will cook food and a cake shop, but please note the cake shop is cash only.
Awesome little market, so much to choose from in a little corner market.
Nice friendly store complete with sitting area to enjoy purchased Japanese meals
The food is so good... the folkS that work there so nice and oh the pretty pretty moichi
Small Japanese market with select organic and homemade products.
Yasukochi sweet shop is main reason for entering. overprixed, stern mean owner, but quality of ORGANIC STUFF or NORIKO desserts on Sunday fantastic. Lottery tix sold here.
Plum wine so yummy SUPPER nice staff
I liked it, I refrain myself from give it 5 stars because their assortment of Umeshu was limited to 2 brands at the time I visited it, but more than that, they have fresh traditional snacks, and real Japanese ingredients.
I love this place, even more so with that new awning. Staff members are mostly really nice. A few can be pretty grumpy at times. Better prices than nijiya on some products and better quality selections. One of the few places here (or even in Japan) that actually sells hon-mirin.
Small place but had everything from deli, fresh produce, delicious Asian snacks and skin lotions. Magical place.
Their choices are a bit limited, but what they have is always great and much higher quality than Nijiya. We just started getting lunches from there and are always pleased with the amount and taste
Cute little grocery store in Japan town with a small bakery inside. They have bento lunch boxes.
Check this place out. I stumbled in here and was sure glad I did ! Good selection of food, small area to eat, and youre in the center of Japantown ! I watched the lady fry the tempura and then prepare it on to go boxes for people. It cannot get any fresher than that.
Best bentos
Miami Florida next location thanks please
Good selection of Japanese cooking essentials, and their takeaway bento, nimono, sushi, etc. are unassuming and delicious as well.
Fantastic deli with amazing food. Katsu don exceptionally good.
Good sushi, good Japanese food products, good service, and best of all no long lines.
Japanese grocery, bakery, and lunch counter with *amazing* fresh food. The grocery store is small and carries mostly Japanese items that you wont find at your average grocery store, like tofu and a great selection of sake. The fresh fish at the back is really fresh and tasty. Theres also a small bakery (folks have reviewed it separately as Yasukochis Sweet Shop). But the lunch counter is probably the best part! You can buy pre-made dishes to go or have something hot made fresh and eat it there. They have wonderfully fresh and tender sashimi and sushi (better then a lot of sushi places Ive been to). They also sell curries and bento boxes, too. There is no actual lunch counter, but there are three tables where you can eat in the store and the ambiance is nice -- nothing fancy, but not corporate either.
Good place the food I got was nice an at a good price
Small, cozy mom-and-pop owned Japanese grocery! Lots of yummy premade foods (mochi, unagi bowls, sushi/sashimi if you come early enough in the day before theyre sold out). Despite being small, they have everything youd need from a Japanese grocery -- I was able to find mochiko rice flour, as well as some very fresh and reasonably priced salmon and tuna fillets ready to be made into sashimi.
They have gr8 food.Stop by.
Good place for Japanese Curry and Bento !also good place for Japanese grocery !
Plenty of Japanese groceries. Also elicious premade dishes and sides for quick meals.
Love this place. Great bakery.
Great Japanese grocery, high quality fish and good sweets including mochi
Nice store. Great selection of products.
Ive been going here for a while now and dont mind the pricey bento boxes that I can get half price at nijiya because I like the thought of helping a local shop. I work in the neighborhood and came here every day for lunch and have highly reccomended it to my staff and customers but no more will I be doing this. Today, after running errands on my bike and stopping there to grab lunch before heading back to work the manager, who I made it a point to always make small talk in japanese didnt even let me in because I had a bike. I didnt have a lock and explained to him that hey its me I just need to grab a couple of quick things and he would let me in. He didnt care one bit. Very rude and shooed me away while there was no one else in the store. VERY dissapointed.
Their hot lunch (11am-2pm daily) is a hidden gem, and some of the best curry you can find in Japantown. Delicious, home cooked taste. Chicken curry, katsu curry, and oyakodon are sure to please. Also bento boxes and other prepared foods with a cycling selection, and every two weeks on Sunday they sell bread from a Japanese bakery (curry pan, yakisoba pan).
A San Francisco treasure....tasty home made food. I also explore the shelves and liquor offerings.
Fun on your trip and great place to watch people
Nice Japanese market by the house good prices
A must visit everytime I go to SF! Small, cozy with incredible eats!
Great option forJapanese food in Japantown instead of Nijiya market...serves hot lunches at a reasonable price.
Place to buy Japanese food and sushi to go. On the pricier side
The triangle onigiris are very very fresh and organic!!! Get there early!!
They carry authentic Japanese food and organic produce from local farms. Having a bakery inside of the store is also a big plus.
Small, but a surprisingly awesome sashimi section.
Sorry, I cant tell you why they get 5 stars, but if you go there, you may find their secret... And if you do, you wont want to tell anyone either.
Cooked food here is more authentic
Grocery, fish, and hot fresh lunch to go.
Great and fresh sushi
Ok but some things are over priced because of location.
Nice and neat store.
Friendly service, good produce!
All sushi gone by 6pm.
Overpriced. Low quality.
Great place
Cute
There are few fresh foods, but some side dishes are also available. Good to buy what you dont have.
I think the side dishes and bento boxes here are very Japanese tastes. My Japanese friends also say that Super Mira is better than Nijiya Market. My recommendation is deli and bento.Test like a real Japanese home made.
Is good
