Great collections of guitars, amplifiers, drums and music accessories. Bass corner looks adequate choices of bass manufacturers. But this store is more focusing to guitar selections (certainly!). I love the store. Nice vibe! 😎

I used to work at this store several years ago, and I stopped in for some strings and picks the other day. I was very impressed at how amazing the store looked, they had great gear in stock, all the accessories were well-stocked and organized, and the staff were super helpful.It was great to see my dear friend Paul Ryan, and I’m so proud of Ren for how far she has come to be the General Manager of such an amazing store, Guitar Center San Francisco!

I used to hate on Guitar Center because I thought it was killing local guitar stores. Now theyre both getting wiped out by e-commerce. In SF, this is one of the last places left where you can go pick up random musical items IN PERSON and for that reason I must support it.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THERE USED ONLINE STORE! I ordered a mixer from the used gear section and according to the picture and description, item looked in near new condition and was labeled as excellent condition. The item took I week to ship to a guitar center in my area and glad I did. The sales rep open the box with me and we found the item to be broken missing screws and in very poor condition. The images that was used was a false representation of what I actually received. I had the manager and sales rep refund me immediately but have to dispute the shipping charges since that was not refunded. The whole transaction feels like a sick joke and will not be shopping with guitar center ever again. Already contacted customer service and filed a complaint but have not heard back so I am now disputing the shipping charges with my credit card. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND ORDER FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE.

No hurries. You can literally play all the songs in your head before finally buying what you want. I had a great time playing. Its spacious, beautiful, and contains every musical instrument that I know. It should be the music center

A few things seem off about this place. First its the disconnect between the huge inventory the store carries and the fact that the sales staff cant answer any questions about that inventory. Oh I dont know anything about that. You need a loop end string? I dont even think we have those. You can come back later when (insert random name) is here. Then theres the fact that the sales staff (maybe former Nordstrom Rack or Walmart checkers) gossiped openly about weird customers as they all clustered at the register. Oh that crazy old guy called again. You know ...that guy. Did they not see that I was there? I do remember when musicians worked in these stores. The stores themselves were hubs for musical activity. Not sure why the firm changed this approach and brought in the folks they now have. I mean, the store, at least that day, was huge and empty. It could have been an off day... Conclusion: if you want to buy a guitar 🎸 there are a lot of them on the racks here. Just plan to enter the store in fully autonomous mode.

It was excellent, almost didnt play enter sandman, but seriously tried another St Vincent music man model, really good feel. Metallica riffs galore, neck action was awesome & electronics were on point!!

Sold an electronic piano. Just walked in, the clerk looked it over for 5 minutes, gave me a fair offer: $270. Other Guitar centers resell the identical item for $450. So they will mark up about 67%, which on Reddit is what I read. Over all good experience since it was easy. Could have sold if on craigslist or EBay for more, but time is money!

Guitar Center has the worst customer service. There was a glitch on my order shipment and they left me waiting without any information for 3 weeks. When I asked for a refund, I was told their system was again having a glitch. So, 1. there are glitches on their shipping system and 2. there are glitches on their system to cancel orders. Im taking my business else where and I strongly recommend other alternatives meaning competitors.

Mainly for guitars and drums, but other essential equipment comes in handy. Was a bit busy during the holidays so perhaps staff was preoccupied. Overall, they did offer to help as much as possible and answer all my questions and help steer me to a good choice. I got a good deal on a few pawn items like a small amp and pedals. Worth checking out.

I I lit up all five for the San Francisco Guitar Centet. because the staff they have I mean they always in the 90s and theyre kind of like some good some same kind of newbie every time I go in there they have some dudes that look kind of act like theyve been around and its just knowledgeable and theres good conversations going on across the you know where I was buying some guitar straps and the store looks really good and you know theres theyre sticking it sticking it out when guitar music isnt dominating anymore so you can just friendly and just enough attitude and you know one guys like well Im a poet you know hes bringing me up some kids going to give you an attitude and be on a cell phone is not that way at all and it was pretty impressed thank you

These guys are cool! Theres usually no one upstairs manning (or womanning) the drum department, but its all good. I like to go here and play the drums they have set up as well as shop for whatever I happen to need.

The San Francisco Guitar Center has a very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. The location isnt as convenient as the old location in SOMA- at least from the areas of the city most musicians live-- but the trip is worth it.

This is a COVID-19 review. I visited the store last week when I had a last minute recording session and needed an extra SM58 and boom stand.I showed up at 6:45, 15 minutes to closing time. Security asked if I had an appointment, you need one to come inside. An employee noted the store was empty and waved me through.All merchandise is roped off so you cant demo anything. I told an associate what I needed and checked out 5 min later. Everyone is social distancing and being safe. It was pricey but not unexpected. Solid four stars and kudos to the staff for taking all necessary precautions.Do watch out for the human feces on the sidewalk next door!

I went to the Van Ness location today to buy a Fender bass because their site specifically said that the instrument was in stock - big surprise, after a $15 Lyft trip up there, Im told that they have the instrument in stock at their distribution center, not at the actual store like they said was the case - I will never buy anything from this low effort company again and I hope they do the world a favor and go out of business as soon as possible.

Place is empty on a Monday night...nice knowledgeable salesman Matt showed me to Basses, answered my questions and let me noodle around without hovering...Sad to see it so empty due to virus, (maybe different on weekends) .... If you need a guitar or something go give these guys a try...

Great Service was assisted with my boss pedal and the the guitar tech I believe Matt, was his name working that night went above and beyond to assist me with issues and sold me the correct 9v plug!

They have a wide selection of musical instruments including electric guitars and percusions such as gymbaes, congas and other varieties of drums and symbals. I enjoyed sampling the merchandise and would suggest to anybody a visit to the store on Vanness . The employees are very helpful and the ordered a string for my acoustic guitarra that I fumble around with once and a while. I cant wait to purchase a bass. I definitely recommend paying them a visit.I finally went to that neighborhood, after along drought. But they couldnt find my g-$tring. After searching, the monofilament guiterra string was located. Such a nice little thing. But tell me why they forgot to give me the little minuscule gold ring for the string to catch below the bridge. Now I still play five string and thats shame cause I could mickey mouse it with this metal piece, that I found in my room . But I dont Fu-k with mickey mouse too much anymoe. Since I grew up. See my face!?

Nice shop; they are friendly here and have a large selection. The electronic drums section was lacking the most popular models, so you might be better off just purchasing online if thats what youre looking for.

Went to this Guitar Center a dozen times during the days I visited San Francisco. My brother and a friend were buying a lot of stuff for their band, as it was less expensive than buying the same stuff back in our home country.The seller who attended us (I cant remember his name) was very attentive, very helpful and friendly. I wouldnt miss the opportunity to buy an Orange amp, so I did.

I have several electric guitars, microphones, headphones, a recording interface and software that I bought from this store. The employees are eager to help and give advice, when they are available, they can get quite busy, it is best to go when there are less customers there then you have a better chance of getting some assistance. Its a great place for a person to try out musical instruments before buying them. Access to active amplifiers and P.A. systems, drum sets, acoustic and classical guitars are available too. Guitar supplies such as: strings, picks, capos, straps are all in abundance. Really like this place and the people who run it. On another note, I have never seen any wind instruments such as flutes or clarinets. If you are interested in buying a specific instrument, it is best to call first to see if they have it.

Call ahead make sure it’s there!! Even if it say I stick online it may not be so call ahead and they will hook you up!!!

Theres always kind of a Sheen of desperation at Guitar Center. Sometimes you see a young mom with a kid who really wants to buy a guitar and you just think kid forget about it. Most people dont know that Guitar Center is the worlds largest pawn shop chain. Thats right. A lot of their business is buying and selling used instruments. I usually just shop on eBay or Amazon for the instruments or accessories that I need. Because their terms are better and you dont have to go somewhere to check out the offerings.

I bought my guitar from guitarcenter.com, but the guitar was shipped from San Francisco, so Im assuming it was shipped from this location. I purchased a new guitar. The guitar came with a chip in the paint, a bunch of scuff marks, and grounding issues. I called guitar center to see if the shipping fee for returns could be waved since I was lied to about the condition. The first person I talked to put me on hold for 20 minutes, then I was hung up on. Go support a local guitar shop, dont give guitar center your money.

The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Theyre also really cool with people just hanging out an trying things out, which is great if you want to try a lot of things before buying. They have everything: acoustic guitars and basses, electric guitars and basses, ukuleles, pianos, drums and electronic drums, DJ equipment, amps, recording equipment, and so much more.

Super friendly and great offers. They also have great music lessons and you can even get rentals. One stop shop for music needs.

This location is rather large and if you play guitar or a fan of guitar then you need to stop by here, the selection is quite impressive. I wasnt stopping by for guitar equipment I came in for some PA equipment and some microphone equipment the customer service was amazing the staff was very knowledgeable and knew the product. they have demo Mikes available so that you can listen to what they sound like before you buy which I thought was very good. no one wants to pay $250 for a microphone without seeing what it sounds like first. Overall my experience was very enjoyable and I will most definitely return to this location for any thing that I may need in the future.

Racially profiled by lazy worker in audio dept?Went shopping for headphones, when I wanted to see the box of the headphones I liked, the guy who was helping me didn’t want to show me the box for them (As you know the box has all the details, it had one of those locks on the rail and I couldn’t see it) .He instead asked me what questions I had.As I asked him questions about the headphones, it seemed as though he was making it up,( I asked if the headphones came with a wire, he said no ( he was wrong), asked him what the difference was between one pair and another( he literally made up some feature) . I asked him if he was sure, he suggested I look it up on my phone. ( instead of him showing me both boxes!!!?!?)So I did, and found that amazon had them cheaper. I asked if they price match (he said it depends) . I showed him the app and he then started to help me and unlocked the box for the headphones .when I told him that I wanted to buy them that’s when his whole attitude changed. Then he was selling me. It’s hard for me not to believe that it was not racially motivated because just minutes before he unlocked a microphone for someone else that was in the department. It just seemed as though he thought I want going to buy, and refused to let me see the boxed product.If they were not the only place around that had these headphones, I would not be buying them here. Classless service

The sales people are cool. Seem knowledgeable. But why cant the shop set up the guitars on display? Why cant they spend a little time making sure what theyre selling is ready to be sold? You shouldnt have to pay $1200 for a guitar with sketchy intonation and hopeless action

Im not an expert in guitars, but if you are looking for a guitar they have something for everyone from electric to acoustic to amplifiers.If this store doesnt have the guitar or related items you want, I would be very surprised. Im not a guitar store expert, but I was impressed with the number of different guitars (acoustic and electric) that this store had on display. They also had humidity controlled rooms for the acoustics and practice rooms where a few guys were jammin.

Great place to buy musical instruments. The staff are very friendly and will even advice you on which guitar is a good fit for you depending on your level and budget. Highly recommend this place! You wont be disappointed!

Guitar Center has great deals on used equipment of many types. I bought a small amp there when I moved here and its great for what it is. Their website allows users to sort through SKUs which theyd prefer and even ship them between stores. They seem to have the best prices in the area.The merchandising in the store is really good, with prices clearly visible, similar items being grouped together, and a clean floor. It is fairly east to try out an instrument and find something to plug it into if it needs it. The merchandising is better in these regards compared to other music stores in San Francisco.Their customer service could use some improvement however. I have walked in a few times and not been greeted. Generally speaking, the staff seem to interact with each other and arent proactive in approaching customers. This could be good, because it gives customers privacy to do their own thing, but I had some trouble getting help when I bought my amp. The associate was polite though, but took a while to retrieve it when I bought it.

Very neat, well organized, no and easy to find what you are looking for. The staff were all very polite and knowledgeable about all aspects of the inventory. It is much larger on the inside than it appears to be from the street. There is bus transportation to and from. And the bus stop is not even a block away from the entrance to the store.

Only con, which is basically every Guitar Center at this point, is I cant ever find a DJ turntable to test out. Theyre all broken and no one seems to care to fix them.Drum section is best Ive seen. Very knowledgeable staff.
