The hashed browns if you add a tiny bit of salt, are the best...I was expecting to be cheaper, but the price is decent or average I think? There were flies so we had to eat quickly to avoid a fly landing in the food.Overall, I would recommend even just for the hash browns. :3
GREAT BREAKFAST PLATES! PANCAKES ARE EXCELLENT!!STAFF IS 5 STAR. MY NEW GO TO PLACE WHEN IN SF!👍👍
It looks a bit old/outdated but surprisingly some of the best breakfast food Ive had in the city. The hashbrowns and bacon were crispy and delicious, over easy eggs were cooked perfectly, and even the toast was great! The service was amazing, very quick and the server was incredibly inviting and nice. The coffee was pretty good too, better than most diner coffee. Price is pretty cheap for SF, most plates are a little over $10. I 100% recommend Local Diner if youre looking for breakfast food in SF.
Deliver no untensils to my hotel. My breakfast is ruined and soggy by time I can get it and eat it. Dont 9rder delivery maybe the inside experience is different.... Maybe.
Good food and very friendly waiter, like the seat at front big window watching people go by on the sidewalk when eating.
Its a bit dark. Could use a facelift, modern paint jobs of greys and whites and more mirrors on the walls to make the space feel cleaner, larger, and brighter. Server was super friendly and the BLT on rye was really good. Would be 5 stars if I didnt feel like I was eating in a cave.
Super Yumm! Good menu, decent prices and great service! Order at the register and the server brings everything out, hes awesome and food was great!
This little spot on Market Street has the best breakfast and friendliest staff in SF. Try the Benedict or Omelets, you wont regret it.
Never again. The service & most especially the cook is very rude & does not keep his dining room sanitary. Their silverware looked overused. I killed 6 flies during my meal.and there is no waiter… you order at a counter,
A local unassuming place with large portions, fair prices and very friendly staff.
Nice food and friendly staff. A good place for breakfast.
I’ve been eating from Local Diner for almost 5 years now and I’ve never been disappointed. First off they have really delicious Turkey Bacon, it’s the number 9. The owner Chris is extremely friendly and treat his customers like family. Pan is the guy who takes the orders, amazing personality and very patient person. Coming here is a must.
Good old school diner. Quality food with great customer service. Will be back
I got a breakfast burrito to go it was good but they covered the outside in sour creamI have no idea why i had it to go so it was a messy experience
The food their is great and the price is not too high.
Met a friend here for breakfast. You order at the counter before you sit. They had lots of open self seating. Classic American breakfast offerings (bacon, eggs, potatoes, etc). Food was about $12 per person. Friendly staff. Food was good and restaurant was clean. Reminded me of a small town diner. Ill certainly dine here again if Im in the area.
Had the chicken and waffles. Waffles were perfection! The chicken was hot and delicious. The only thing that could have made it better would be to offer honey mustard or some other dipping sauce for the chicken. The coffee and service were also both very good. Would definitely recommend if in the area.
My question is who is the owner of this place? This place is running by an eccentric person at cash. He refuses to serve food if you dont speak in Spanish and laugh at his poor jokes. Many people have said before, he refused to serve food, but I still decided to take a visit. The guy at the front is extremely rude and misbehaved. This is unacceptable how he treats the customer based on their language and ethnicity. How the management support his activities? If you have self-respect, and you speak ENGLISH, avoid this restaurant.Wish someone from management to read this to take appropriate action against the Mafia who is running this place based on his whim and fancy.
This is the best breakfast place on the west coast. A true neighborhood diner friendly staff and great food. Eat here and enjoy also they make a great Philly cheese steak 😁
On vacation and stopped here for breakfast. The clerk was very friendly and the meals offer large portions. The food was great! Best breakfast we had on our trip. I highly recommend the Local Diner to anyone in the area.
I had been meaning to try this place out. My food was out promptly. Clean and pleasant dining room. Everyone at our table was very satisfied.
Awesome breakfast plate. Unfortunately I can only personally vouch for the #2, but I believe anything I ordered here would probably be pretty darn good.
Delicious food, great service! I got sunny side up eggs with sausage, home fries, and toast. I definitely recommend coming here for breakfast. Prices are reasonable for the area.
The food was great one of my favorite places
Local Diner is an accurate name. Classic American diner food for decent prices. Nothing fancy, but all satisfying. Right across the street from the Orpheum Theater if youre looking to grab a bite before the show.
I recommend them all the time to my professional people
Honestly the food wasn’t necessarily overpriced for SF standards but wasn’t cheap by any means as said in the reviews here. Eggs and omelettes seemed reasonably priced ~9/10$ but biscuits and gravy were something like 12$. Portions aren’t big either as I’m still hungry after biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausages. The worst thing here is that the biscuits and gravy tasted terrible! Way too sweet. My buddies waffle and chicken was good tho and the staff tries to make the most of it.
I liked their homemade breakfast (eggs & bacon & slightly browned potatoes with green pepper). Its cosy inside, if you visit it early in the morning or before closing hours. If you are slim enough, like yours truly, the breakfast will fuel you for the next 3 hours. It is Civic Centre, so get ready to pay for your dish slightly above the average price. But you will never be upset.
If youre hungry for a big, hot breakfast right now, this is the place to go. Good sized, not over sized portions straight off the grill at your table practically before you finish ordering it. Ive eaten here twice now though not at peak times so I havent seen how busy it gets. Theres been about 10 tables with parties between 1 and 4 with 1 man putting in orders while taking payments, running food, bussing tables and checking on dinners on his own with a constant smile or kind word for everyone. I dont eat out very often so I dont have a good sense of local restaurant prices but $20 for a pancakes, eggs and bacon breakfast with coffee and OJ seems a bit high to me.
The service was friendly and observant. Prices are decent. Wish it was closer to my house, I would come every week.
Employees are nice and friendly, which seems to be a general rarity in San Francisco. They didnt mess my breakfast up, which I feel is all you can really say about any eggs/bacon breakfast. It was very good. Prices are standard for the location. I will definitely be back.
The food is basic, but exactly what youd expect from a diner and perfectly delicious. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Ive eaten here twice so far this trip, and both times were very pleasant experiences.
This is my favorite diner in San Francisco. My boyfriend and I eat here all the time. The waitress is freaking awesome. She is so friendly and treats us awesome. She always makes us feel welcome.
Cashier/Manager is definitely on something. Loud, and quick to pull a fast one. She asked me for a pin on a credit card instead she got a tip 5 times the $13. I told her she made a mistake, she said will make a refund and went ahead and made another charge of $13 now I’m charged $26 ++ for 2 eggs and hash brown and a hefty tip of over $50. Although my bank is aware of the incident I still have to make sure they remove the 2nd double charge. Manager was aggressively fidgety and itchy like on crack, plus rude and blaming me for entering my pin instead of a tip which I usually do so in cash as always did for last couple of years. Don’t think that location deserve the subsidy they get. Not for the way she’s been handling her patrons and business. I have been watching her attitude.
Best kept secret in the Bay Area. Inexpensive, truly good food with genuine smiles. The food has always, consistently, been exactly what I asked for - eggs over easy, every time. My only gripe is that theyre closed on Sundays.
Great simple, traditional, breakfast. Nothing fancy here just good solid food. You order at the counter and then sit down; they bring the food to you. They serve Peets Coffee.....you cannot go wrong there. The service was fantastic. Our guy that took our order was sooooo nice and helpful, actually everyone in there was great. There was plenty of food for what we ordered so be hungry!
The food was okay. I was there for the biscuits and gravy... It wasnt what I had hoped for. Everything else was fine
Great food and super friendly staff!
Breakfast all day and just a block from the Orpheum makes it very convenient to grab food before a show.
Very friendly customer service. And the food is very delicious. I give this Diner a 9/10.
Great place for breakfast. Very friendly staff. The guy at the counter was not only friendly but also a great tour guide.
Tasty food, good prices, great service
Its so savory. Definitely worth going back to.
I loved this place.Great food great environment. The staff was wonderful. I would suggest this place to all my freinds.
Simple great food, on vacation for a few days and have been here twice for breakfast. Staff is solid and welcoming, would very much recommend the steak and eggs or the T-Rex omelette.
The food is good and fairly priced. You might not be able to finish most plates due to good sized portions. The owners are great people and try hard to please.
Great eggs, wonderful service, and good coffee, my only problem was there gravy, tasted dry. Great place otherwise.
Great food and portions, Great service, cozy place
Fast friendly service! Great food good prices
Surreal experience in this place thanks to a diminutive Latino employee who thought he was funny and a character but was overfamiliar and actually insulting. When we made it plain that we just wanted our breakfast and were not there to appeciate his so-called humor he refused to serve us and told us to leave. He also refused to let me talk to the manager. It was like the Seinfeld Soup Nazi sketch only the No Breakfast Nazi in our case. I have never experienced such a lack of professionalism and cannot believe this guy is allowed to deal with the public. Dont say you havent been warned.
It is a pretty nice place to be with the family and enjoy a very nice breakfast!
My friend and I like this place a lot. The server is very nice and passionate and the food is beyond awesome!!! Definitely one of the best breakfast places in town!!❤️
Its good, but not great. I had a really bad experience twice now. The first time I ordered their chicken special, the chicken tasted like it was frozen and reheated. It didnt taste good at all.The second time, I ordered the pancake special and they messed up my order, didnt apologize, and got a mean look from the waiter when I asked him to fix it. When they brought me my new order, the eggs were raw.My other experiences in this restaurant were good, and the food is decently priced. The location sucks though, lots of homeless and druggies.
Friendly people great food,quick service.
Asked for chocolate chips in the waffle i ordered when they didnt have strawberry but they just threw the chips on top lazy instead of in.
Went there on a Saturday. Bring your appetite because portions are generous.
I love this place..but dont go there or it will become too crowded. Best breakfast ever.
This place is really good, Great food, great staff. My goto place for breakfast and lunch. The only downside is they close early and they are closed on Sundays.
The staff was cheery and happy. The food was delicous and prompt. What more could I ask for?I ordered an avocado cheeseburger.
Dont judge a book by its cover! Great food, good prices, great service! Classic diner food.
Good food at a great price, very friendly service, I highly recommend it!
Very friendly guys, large portions, tasty and at a good price 😁
Pricey yet excellent meal preparation.
The service is great and so is the food...
Delicious breakfast and good service.
Great breakfast, great new York steak sandwiches service is good also.
Loved the seafood and the Fries. Not greasy like most places and very well prepared.
Good food great sevice
Fresh food, friendly and warm welcome staff and clean place. If you are looking for a local breakfast, this is a great place to try.
A lot of good breakfast options.
Outstanding bacon cheeseburger. Fries are above par. Not inexpensive.
Food is absolutely the best. Service is in point and mimi (waitress/cashier) is super upbeat and friendly.
Delicious diner food! Came here with a friend for a quick bite and we left satisfied!
Great food great service
Love there food its good and they have great service. 😎
THis is the perfect hangover breakfast spot. Its just standard eggs and hash browns, etc., but its done well and quickly. Prices are great too.
I the chilli cheese fries are worth the price. The service is good and so is the food. I would recommend the place if youre tired of fast food.
Local Diner the food is great for the price the space is clean and looks nice but not high end.
Best reasonable meal in the city, for sure.
The homemade spagetti was good as always and they never fail to disappoint. The buttered bread tasted a little funny but then quickly subsided and I like everybody in there including the new employees.Btw, this used to be called Munch Haven! Very good place to eat when youre hungry.
Breakfast is all I have tried from here and it is always great. Price is not bad for the amount of food you get.
Miss Munchaven
Great food. Really cool staff. Inexpensive.
Great breakfast friendly staff I love this place wish I came here more often
A great small diner in the middle of the city. They accept EBT so they arent classist. Great filling food.
Quick classic eats in a no frills breakfast, lunch, and dinner diner.
Love love the staff. Have been going here for Years. Great food and hometown feeling.
Tom, Mimi and Pamphilio (yes, really...) are the best! Anyone and everyone who walks into their shop are treated with the same courtesy and respect. Everyone is the most important person to them. In truth, there have been a few and far between incidents when they would have been within their rights to be harsher with a customer who was acting up/out, but not with this crew!! I have my favorites on the menu; but nothing comes out of that kitchen that isnt of the highest quality. Regulars will mix with tourists from the hotels as well as the matinee goers/performers from the Orpheum Theater on the next block. Kudos y muchos gracias!!
Cozy not crowded you can eat in peace.
Clean, handsome portions, and good customer service.
I absolutley love this cute breakfast dinner
