Getting on base lately has been a big challenge, even during the week. But, once you get through the gate Im grateful for this place. I am able to complete most of my family shopping needs here.Looking at new furniture for our home. There are also great entertainment choices of TV, computer and stereo equipment. Best part is NO taxes and you dont get asked about paying for the bags to carry out your purchases in.
WOW!! In over 21 1/2 years service as an Active Duty Chief Petty Officer and 20 Years Federal Service my Customer Service experience at the NEX 32nd Street Main Exchange San Diego was as good as it can get! Mr. James, the NEX Store Manager and team of professionals went above and beyond to assist me. The professionalism and willingness for Management/ Staff to go above and beyond was extremely appreciate and most noteworthy. They stood behind me every step of the way and I received constant communication from Mr. James to ensure that the issue was resolved satisfactory and I was extremely happy! This Exchange really does care about their customers and I will always shop at NEX 32nd Street Sand Diego! Mr. James and Staff, thanks you for everything you did for me!!!!!
The Navy Exchange Home Store is a great place to shop! There are great deals, everything is tax free, and it is conveniently located near down town.I shop here multiple times a week. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The best deal is they price match online prices. So I can shop AMAZON, purchase it here and get the low price tax free!! What a great place.
Good variety, kinda pricey
The lady on the electronics needs customer service training! Not so helpful and then when I asked what time do they open, she told me to check the website! Gee you work there and at least find out instead of referring us to the website. She doesnt know anything! Its god theres another man working there and gave us information
Was easy to get around. Very organized. Went to get some Vans brand footwear, but didnt have my size. I have been there numerous times with same issue. They very very large size (11- 15), but no average sizes (7- 9). Need to get vendors onboard. We are not all giant footed humans.
I most definitely liked their sunglasses/shades division - for the $5 glasses deals as well as variety of styles. Im one that likes to shop for a great bargain. If its not a deal I take into consideration excellent, consider my wallet closed. They had a couple of amusing packages of things - like those gifts to make your life easier.
The customer service here is horrible comparable to Walmart. The staff here need diversity training. You are better off going to Target if you want an enjoyable shopping experience. I was rung up the incorrect price at the cashier’s counter that was displayed in the store.
A good selection of furniture and major appliances. I believe they have home delivery of large items for additional charge. Their electronics section is large,, but youre kind of on your own, as there are not many sales people to ask about product features or brand name versus brand name. It is assumed you know what you want and have already decided. Also a small selection of laptops and tablets are available. Small kitchen appliances, vacuums, bed and bath linens are available. Theyve teamed with Petco for pet foods and supplies. The garden and outdoor departments are incorporated into the store as well.
We went to inquire about a laptop. The woman in that dept took her time with us explaining the differences in each one. She was very helpful & patient.
Great place to shop!
Polite well mannered staff keeps a well maintained work environment with lovely customer service made it easy to return items without headache. Line skip is active for members of the military in uniform from 11am-1pm. Nice and close to everything else you would need on base like the food court and commissary. Nice bathrooms easily accessible as soon as you walk in the entrance
I do understand that your personal have been working a lot of hours, but you should have a few that are checking the shelves to replace items when you get low or out of things; like coax cable I only needed six feet but I had to buy fifteen feet. Other than that you have some great deals 😉👍
Great place to shop. They have a five guys and cold stone AND good brands of makeup. Staff is always friendly
Good prices, quality merchandise, good variety and frequent sales... what more can you ask?
Great selection! Not the best on price! It might be Tax free but you can find much cheaper out in town
Great place to shop, good selections and services. Every exchange carries something different because of the size. Always fun to look. Food court is always a nice place to stop forLunch
Great place to shop at and has pretty much all you need in one place. Went in looking for odds and ends and managed to leave with pretty much everything.
Hassle free returns and exchanges? The absolute opposite, in my few experiences returning substandard products. Today the customer service supervisor actually wasted my time on purpose, was VERY RUDE, and apparently my return was the villain of the day for her? Thanks for that! I hate posting bad things.
If you love on base and dont have any other ways to get around and go to other stores, then the exchange works well. Other than not having to pay tax on the products purchased, it seems that many times there prices are more than you would pay at any other store. They do offer many products, and they do offer Navy great that you cant purchase in town.
I love the navy exchange. They have almost everything you are looking for and if they dont have it you can let someone know and they can make sure to place an order for it to start carrying it. They are reasonable on prices and some of the prices you cant beat.
Customer Service can sometimes be lacking here but every once in a while, you get really good service. At the fine jewelry counters, you will typically get excellent service. One of the great benefits if shopping here is no sales tax. Plus, around the holidays, there are some really great deals on most everything and especially electronics.
What else can I say? Good deals, good people. Parking gets crazy after payday. Food court as good variety
Its been the place that I work at.they do good work they try to help.but I think its communication. It gets cross. We try to do are best to keep are greatest military happy.they are all we have so lets work together.
Bought a bottle of hand sanitizer. used it in the parking lot found out, someone emptied it out and replaced it with clear dish soap. very rude customer service lady almost yelled at me saying not her concern bring it back in June. PHILLIPINO lady may 10th around 1846 customer service, shame on you when you said i should have tested product
The retail on sales is great...I was able to purchase four pairs of shoes and the cost was under $80.00 bucks..What a bargain!!!....yes indeed I truly enjoyed my shopping..And the customer service was simply the best..way to go folks😊
Very good bx. The selection is great and the staff are always available and helpful. I have never been dissatisfied for going here first. Great quality, great prices.
The Navy Exchange is truly a one stop shop. Need groceries? Done. General shopping? Yep. How about the latest TVs, video games, and consoles? Theyve got it. Need to stop at the bank and get some cash to fund your shopping experience? Navy Federal Credit Union is right across the street. Theyve even got an awesome food court. You can spend your whole day there!
Easy to find departments with neat and orderly items. Careful at the long check out line. Can be avoided if you buy an item at jewelry or perfume departments.
Great selection of goods which rivals most department stores, and as with any military exchange, no sales tax to any purchases. The only bad thing about this location is that when the re are big shopping events, especially during the holiday shopping season, the parking lot can be very tricky to navigate, especially if you are trying to exit towards the 32nd St. exit.
Very pleased with the layout and selection. I was happy to find a hat that Ive been trying to locate for months. Many of the employees I encountered had a bad attitude or didnt want to do much to help. Found a pricing discrepancy and suddenly I was avoided with prejudice. Aside from that, very nice shopping.
I am older now, and it is still a joy to see some of the old schoolers that still works for the exchange. And that they still look so good as well. Not to mention the bargains I found as well. I love my navy exchange!
This is a one stop shopping. But you have to be with someone in the military. Since its on base. Thank you my son in law.
I love shopping here. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and they always have what I am looking for.
Love it. But too much yak, yak, yak with the cashiers amongst themselves. They should get folks checked out. Then yak, yak, yak when they meet up with someone from their native country, ignoring efficient service
Came for Black Friday... Its packed but the sales are REALLY good! They have staff managing the lines as they get long & go throughout the store so, thats super helpful. Be ready to find good stuff, but moreso to be patient!
What can I say? Its a great exchange with great selections. I purchased my TV here and I cant complain. I went to the warehouse to pick it up and it all went smoothly.
Went here with my son in law whos a baby pilot, the store is awesome, huge, great selections and prices.
They have a computer repair that I didnt know. I usually bring my son to get a hair cut. They have a variety of fast food in the food court.
If I could give them no stars I would. The staff is always extremely rude and make buying anything a hassle. They refused to let me use my husband’s debit card even though I knew the pin and our last names matched. Instead I had to walk out, use the ATM and pay for the purchase with cash. Then as I was walking out my 2 kids and I were stopped, and accused of shoplifting some make up. After being searched(and them discovering I didn’t have it) I was let go but I’ve never been treated so badly by retail workers in my entire life and don’t plan on ever shopping there again.
Always busy, prices can be beat with careful shopping in town, employees helpful 50% of the time. I go back because its convenient.
Clean store, reasonably priced quality products, and a modest selection of quality brands so Im not overwhelmed with too many choices! And a decent crowd shops here... no Walmart types.
Excellent! The cashier, Jose at register 052, recognized the moisturizer i bought for my wife that it has a coupon in the flyer, he got me $2 off. Its not the first time Ive experienced this with a cashier in this store. One time, i forgot my scratch off and the cashier offered one for me, i got 5% off! Now thats customer service!!!
Has what you need. Great quality meat and fish. Will even order you some sushi grade fish for pick up. Im so glad we have this place next to base...cant shop at walmart for my stuff since ive been exposed to the commissary. By the way...the mini nex will charge you more for the same things. Like cereal. Small box there is about the same price for twice to 3 times the quantity at the commissary. Dont fall into the trap of shopping at the mini nex when you need to really go shopping haha.
This is a great place to shop if you have access to it- you have to be in the military, a dependent, etc... Theyre is a lot of name brand items that are lower in price than outside the gate (sometimes thats not the case). Its convenient with a food court- Subway, Panda Express, Five Guys.
The Navy exchange is hands down my favorite store. The main reason is the huge variety of quality goods. And secondly 70% of the profits made from sales go back into the MWR program. There is no other store that does this. Incredible! And most people are not aware. It always makes me think about where I am spending my dollars.
I was disappointed going to the Home Store, yesterday, for their sale. I drove 30 minutes from northern San Diego to purchase a specific boxed candy for a gift basket and the sales associate said that they had not gotten it stocked yet, and this was between 11-12 on a big sale day. If the product is in the sale paper, it should be stocked by opening sale day. Very disappointed!
For patrons that qualify this place is a goldmine, end of season summer wear at 1/2 off a 75% off sale...and No Tax!! And here in So CA we can wear these items through the autumn season. Always check here first.
Hard to find a good customer service rep that speaks fluent english. Most are non-native english speaker (Tagalog). Ordered furniture that took an additional 3 weeks (9 total weeks vs 6 promised weeks at the time of ordering) new washer, etc. Its hard to find someone that can tell me about products and help me make educated decisions.
Love visiting this place with my dad. I basically grow up on this base as a kid. The exchange has everything you need.
This is the best Exchange! I dont like the one in el centro there is no variety. Imperial beach not great. MCRD mmmm dont like it and MCAS Miramar is ok. 32nd street has always been the best!
I went to look for a bed set and the lady’s were so rude. They made us go and look for specific numbers of the model of the bed set twice. They gave attitude, didn’t greet us and one of them said “my pay check doesn’t change” when she was speaking to another employee. Yes the exchange has great prices but the people who work there are extremely rude and are of no help.
Always has a good selection of what Im looking for and a tasteful inventory.
This was the home of all military thru inflation got hard when I was younger buy a whole shopping cart for 25bucks now so much itll only last a week and a half I tried once going to service I couldnt pass the test n my disability sort of stop me I have polio then later yrs I was drafted a few times I couldnt go my disability hit me more with something else dual diagnos bipolar skitz being in the military a good way to go benefits there be a war 1man told me in a song Ice t you got it like the ghetto boys my mind playing tricks on me we have to fight it not everything is right use our heart like the one god gave us try really hard to believe for there one god n 1god only were all brothers n sisters no one is different cos of our color or what country we came from Im Chinese n Filipino I dont look back at the pass thats happened I look at how we can make the difference for now n the future
The selections of wine here are vary. The lines move very quick considering the amount of customers. And lastly the prices!! When you buy more then 6 at a time you get a percentage off so buy in bulk.
This is the best NEX Ive been to it looks like a mall. Unlike other exchanges that only carry limited merchandise this one has something for everyone
Price match and free delivery is great. Good selection on appliances and furniture, but not a large inventory. Love the clothes, but pricey since its name brand stuff. Hit the clearance section for great deals!
There are public bathrooms its wheelchair accessible. The navy exchange can be a great place to shop specially for premium products the “what you see is what you pay aspect makes it very attractive” given the tax feee shopping one can enjoy on base.....so the price for what you looking for is cheaper at best buy, simply take that price to the navy exchange and they will price match.
It us always smart to shop at the NEX first! Quality and giving back to our military family is added reward.
This store is the best place for tax free, all-american on base shopping. The staff is very helpful and the store is always organized. Love all of the deals and the convenience of shopping on base. Go Navy!
I love this store.... there should be one in LAS VEGAS... just saying
They never pick up the phone!!!
The Navy exchange was a great stop for some vacation shopping...This base has a much larger facility when compared to the one in Great Lakes, Il. This is definitely a stop for any military members who are in the area and shopping. The only downside was there were not many shoes for little boys.
The Navy Exchange Home Store is a very pleasing store that is very organized, and has a variety of items to buy from. It is basically Walmart on steroids.
Poor customer service.
I went shopping during the time they were having great deals! I found lots of clothing on sale. It wasnt too crowded, which made shopping enjoyable, parking was a bit busy.
Black Friday. Could be a mistake to go on Black Friday. Parking was terrible. However the employees were friendly And helpful. if youre going to the Navy Exchange I would recommend not going on Black Friday
The line for check out was very long with only 2 cashiers. I asked if they can open another cashier and rudely was told NO everybodys at lunch! Really. The cashiers were very slow. 7 deep on each line.
They don’t keep all their advertised furniture in stock. 6-8 weeks? Are you kidding. The private sector is killing you in that department. If you were an actual store you’d be going under with service and stocking systems like that. Mattress firm will price match the exchange and has every size in stock. And the lady at the exchange said it’s not my fault, I just work here.
The NEX had great merchandise . Its easy to find what you are looking for. Some are pricey but great quality. Great selection.
Certain things are at good price. Then there are other items you can buy somewhere else cheaper. Good thing you dont pay taxes.
Great if you have a family member serving the US arm forces. Youll get a chance to shop till you drop because everything is affordable and the service is great as it comes with a smile.
Convenient location and bigger than other exchanges Ive been too.
Great place to shop due to no sale tax. Something are still pricey but they will compare prices with other stores if its the same item which is cool.
Check out usually takes awhile because they never have enough lanes open. If you need help in the electronic area, be prepared to have to wait, you will have to immediately hunt someone down to help so you can get in and out in a timely manner. They will not all you if you need help like in regular electronic stores/dept.
The 32nd Street NEX is one of my favorite military stores. This particular store carries more varieties of things than most others. Plus it also brought the appliance building more convenient adjacent to the main store. Like most military stores, this grocery/commissary is also conveniently located close to the NEX whereby making shopping a single-trip process. Unfortunately though, like the near by military lodging facility, diversity remains scarce, at best. I dont feel that the promotion of diversity and equality can be accomplished if the majority of the employees are particularly a majority of a single ethicity/racial background. Besides the diversity hiccup, the savings that the store promote, including additional five dollars savings you get if you bought fuel from the gas station and spent a minimum of twenty-five dollars within 14 days of the fuel purchase, is well worth the visit to the store.
Nice place to get shop if youre active duty or retired military or government worker. If you served in the military you.can shop there catalog.
This place is amazing everything you need in one stop staff are friendly and helpful
Great place to shop and they really understand how to support a military brat
You have to have exchange Privileges and a military ID to get on base. I do enjoy shopping on the face especially for taxable items on the outside because normally the prices are about 15% less than the stores and you at 8 or 9% for sales tax you save 25%
Always good prices and very helpful staff. Bents over backward to provide any available discounts.
Very large exchange. Good selection compared to exchanges at Los Angeles AFB, Fort Irwin, and Joint Naval Base Ventura. The food tents out in front offer additional food choices such as Texas barbecue, Filipino food, and Belgian waffles. The food court has the exchange standards plus Five Guys!
Good most of the time you found what you wanted and more especially my Jamaica beef Patties
Some many items to choice from and shop for. Love the sales and discount.
Nice selection. Good parking
There are lots of deals here. Best part is that it is tax free.
Always find something to buy here! Enjoy shopping and getting my MAC fix while Im in San Diego!
Great military benefits store, high quality selection and huge selection. Would be great if they offer more scratcher coupon offers.
Great place to shop, but crowded, no easy traffic flowon onto base. Friendly staff, clean, well stocked stores. Good prices.
