After a 7 mile hike around Torrey Pines State Reserve this was a welcome stop! With the Craft Good truck out front all you had to do was order something to give you a receipt that allows you and your group to order better! JUST ONE TICKET for the small group of 4. The food was great and so was the beer. among the 4 of us we tried 4 different beers and we were stoked. The outdoor setting was very inviting and felt covid safe. Just go!

I was getting discouraged trying to find a venue that fit my needs and budget in San Diego...places either cost too much, had too many restrictions, didnt allow you to bring your own food, etc. And then I found the Barrel Room at New English! I started messaging questions to Nina and from there I was sold. Nina answered SO many questions and emails from me over my 10 months of planning and met me at the Barrel room a few times to let me look around and plan as I went. She was so tremendously helpful. The night of our wedding reception, she and her husband Simon were our bartenders and they were fantastic. This space is so unique and awesome for a party. It is beautiful, easy to decorate, has great clean bathrooms, a perfect dance floor, a bar with wonderful beer of course, and lots of furniture they will let you use! I only had to rent a couple of tables and some chairs which trimmed down my cost by a lot. Everyone had such a great time at our reception! We got a taco cart which was set up right in front of the brewery (also saving us room). We also set a photo booth up right in front. Tons of room to dance. Easy to decorate! It was a fantastic experience booking this venue for our wedding reception.

Lovely place and lovely beer! If you love IPA, this is the one you should visit. The only thing I disliked was you need to buy food ticket in order to purchase a beer. If that’s done to promote local business, I totally understand. But in that case, they should keep enough food reserve to give customer a choice to order what they want. However, the person at the restaurant was really nice. He allowed me to buy minimum quantity of what they had.All in all, a good place with great beer and amazing ambience.

This place was very fun! The inside is really large (much larger than it looked online!) and has nice decorations with barrels all around. The larger tables are limited but there was lots of seating available. The beers are also great and all gluten reduced which was really nice as we had some gluten free folks. They should definitely get some games to have in the brewery! We brought our own and were also able to order door dash since they didn’t serve food.

Cozy tap room featuring a side lounge with comfy couches. Two casks, one nitro, and one barrel aged on tap plus about ten regular taps. From DIPA to blonde and pilsener to imperial Stout a wide variety of good craft beers. I enjoyed the opportunity to have their IPA on draft and cask and in particular the patient bartender educating me, giving out samples, and staying 30 mins after closing time to give us an opportunity to finish our beers. Great little hole in the wall brewery with plenty of nicely crafted beers.

They make you order food before ordering beer. To get water, it’s $2 for a water bottle. And the beer isn’t that good. Nice outdoor area but the vibe was off.

Its hard to rate how I feel about this place right now so Im erring on the side of positive and will look back after COVID and re-review. The outdoor area is great! Shuffleboard, plenty of seating, good amount of sun/shade. The indoors is plain, and thats fine. Focus on the beer! The ESB is particularly nice! I liked it better than the IPAs and I love IPAs. Id happily spend a few hours and down a few pints here.

Visited this brewery on a whim and like most brew joints - it did not disappoint. IPAs were the main thing on the menu as were a handful of amazing tacos (Tri Tip being my favorite). The ambiance is nestled between office buildings, making me wish I could work only a walking distance away to enjoy on my daily lunches. Plenty of seating and doggos. If you have a free afternoon - New English is a firm recommendation!

We are long time regulars at New English. They are my favorite SD craft brewery. Last night was our 1st night time visit to their new beer garden. The beer garden is beautiful at night. Lots of spaced out seats & tables for Covid. The food from the onsite God Save the Cuisine truck was very good. I tried their 2 new beers- Labitat Pale Ale & Simcoe Hazy IPA. Both were also very good. It was great to get out of the house! Cheers Simon!!!

3.5 stars. This tasting room is good, but doesnt deserve a 5-star rating. There is no food truck, no nice decor, no Wi-Fi and they dont post the beers they have in their tasting room online. Also, its not in a convenient location. On the plus side, their Zumbar and Legit beers are good and they have great special where you can get 4 tasters for only $7.

We hosted our company holiday party here in December of 2019. We chose a casino theme and the space was just perfect. We even gave beer from the brewery as favors. We came to New English on Halloween for a few birthday celebrations. After many communications beforehand regarding our party size and what time they would close, we were slowly forced out due to an early last call. The staff was unfriendly towards the end of the night and pretended we never had a mutual understanding of how long they would stay open. Really cool atmosphere, especially for distancing. We were disappointed in how our night ended.

I organized my companys holiday party at New English Brewing in their Barrel Room. Absolutely great atmosphere, service, location and overall experience. The owners Nina and Simon were great people to work with and they made everything very easy and clear, which made my organizing process so much easier. Our party was a hit and everyone was very satisfied with New Englishs beer selections on tap! 100% would recommend to anyone looking for a great party location or even just a tasting of a great, local San Diego brewery.

Overall I would highly recommend hosting your next event here or just stopping by for a beer after work. Looking forward to hosting our next event here soon!

We hosted a going away party for one of our coworkers at New English Brewing and they went above and beyond all our expectations. The process to book was easy and Nina was unbelievably helpful! She made sure everything was just perfect for our send-off. The many beers were awesome and got rave reviews from everyone who partook. The space was great for our ~30 people (we rented the lounge and Main Taproom) though definitely could have accommodated more. I would definitely recommend, and will be a regular moving forward!

A good brewery in a location that is very much lacking in a brewery presence. We have been here at least half a dozen times and the beers keep getting better every time. This last visit they had the bourbon barrel brown release and it was very good. The staff is always friendly and even on busy weekends there is a good flow to the line to get beers. There is a variety of seating options from standing by a keg, to high tops, as well as a lounge with comfy couches. Its a good stop after a hike at Torrey Pines!

Awesome spot close to my house. All of their beers are very good. A lot of microbreweries have 2 or 3 great beers & then a lot of mediocre ones. Not here. Every beer they make is solid. Friendly, low key, casual and funky. Nothing fancy but so relaxing and great. Check it out. Beers here are just as good as Alesmith, Ballast Point, Stone or St Archer.

This place isnt the easiest to find as its located in the towards the back of the parking lot. However, they put out a sign on the sidewalk which is pretty easy to spot. Good beer line-up with a couple of must-try brews. The rest of the draft list is a solid combination of typical San Diego breweries and styles youd expect to find in a British pub. Its a brewery, not a restaurant, so seating is somewhat limited, especially for larger groups.Growler fills and bottles (22oz) available. Dog friendly.Must-try:- Zumbar Chocolate Coffee Imperial Stout- Bourbon Barrel Aged Brown- Humbly Legit (West-coast style for you IPA connoisseurs)- Anything on caskThings to keep going back for:- Ever-changing casks - at least one of their 2 casks is different every week- Small-batch variations of their mainstay beers like raspberries + Why Not Wheat Ale, Guatemalan coffee + Brewers Special Brown, Blackberry + Zumbar Stout- The staff, including the owner, stick around and are happy to chat about their process and upcoming brews

Havent visited, but grabbed some bottles of their ESB and Brewers Special Brown Ale from Vons on the way out of SD. Spot on, great beers. I will make this tap room a must try next time Im back in SD. Standout brewery in a very crowded market. Im a huge fan of Magnolia for their British ales in SF, MacLeod in Van Nuys for their cask ales, and its nice to find a spot in SD I can make a go to when Im craving this kind of stuff. Keep it up!

This is a working micro brewery, which earns large props from me. No tours, no big screen TVs, no juke box, few places to sit (but that is slowly changing). What they have here in droves are good beers. The Zumbar is worth every award it has received. The Pure and Simple and the Tipple are excellent session beers, the Humbly Legit (nice word play there) will collapse your head with hops, and the Brown Ale is a go-to if you dont know what to order. The ESB is a real find. Not all the beers are for everybody, but the variety is excellent and the beer is always fresh. The owner is often in the room and will gladly talk to you about beer and MG autos. Stuck in traffic around the 805/5/La Jolla Village disaster area? Stop wasting your time and go get a beer.
