The store had nice and legit items but the vibe was negative. There was a $1 entry fee per person (cash only). She was pushy for us to take off our masks during a global pandemic. The owner followed us around as if we were going to steal something. She was really pushy when it came to parking in their parking lot. After multiple times telling her that we didnt have the money for parking and would park on the street, she continued to ask us how much money we had. She even asked my 8 year old sister if she had money for parking so together we could pay it. When we found an item we liked and wanted to purchase it, I notified her so that she could get it out of the glass case and she responded with, “I knew you would find something cheap so you could get your dollar back.” Amazing items- bad customer service which made it not worth it.

West Sea Co. is by far one of my favorite places to shop for authentic nautical antiques. I have been several times and always find something I cant live without so to speak. From 19 century scrimshaw, sextants, books, bells, helms-wheels and even a harpoon. The staff is always welcoming and willing to let you see anything of interest to you. I highly recommend this store to anyone who holds an interest in nautical antiques!

West Sea Company has a fabulous offering of unique and high quality nautical items, mostly antiques but a few new as well. What I like is the selection of one of a kind items that would fit in any world class collection. I say this as one who has seen many nautical museums in the USA and abroad. But one need not be a collector to appreciate the store. I bought two sextants, a chronometer and compass for home decor and historical reasons. The staff is cordial and really knowledgeable. The ambience of the store is wonderful. Anyone with an interest in ships, navigation, diving or the sea should visit. Free parking is a plus in Old Town. West Sea earns my highest recommendation!!

I recently sold an 1807 nautical book to Mr.Rod Cardoza @ West Sea. I was most impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and fairness. I wholeheartedly recommend his firm for those interested in purchasing antique nautical items.

I have worked with Rod for a couple of years. Ive purchased a pair of Chelseas, two marine chronometers and a couple of misc, pieces. This has all been done by phone and email. Ive been very pleased with Rods expertise, his understanding of the products and their history, the care in shipping and handling that is given the products and his willingness to help guide me on my marine chronometer collection. Every encounter has been top rate and I plan to continue buying from him as the $$ allow.Doug H11/22/17I purchased another chronometer from West Sea and had it shipped to me. Arrived in excellent condition. They do a great job in packing and really care to make sure the pieces arrive in pristine condition. Its always great working with them. DH

They charge you a $1.00 to go in and see if you want to buy something! What kind of marketing is that. Ok we did it anyway because we love nautical stuff. There wasnt anything special about the place. They followed us around like we are going to steal stuff and never asked if we were interested in an item if we looked interested, just a cold stare like dont dare touch anything. Dont waste your time or dollar on this place.

You have to pay $1 if you dont buy something.Ok, to be fair, the contents of this nautical antique store are great. Lots of quality historical items. There are some modern reproduction items mixed in. Overall, the inventory is impressive. However, I think its odd to ask a customer to pay $1 if we dont buy something. My hope would be to stop in from time to time to check out what awesome new items this store has, but I feel like Im being punished if I dont find something. It makes me not want to check in as I would do at other nautical antique stores in the area.Great inventory; bad vibe.
