I came to this Location looking for GREAT QUALITY and something different from a Standard Hardwood store and I was NOT disappointed. Its the Best place EVER!!! I was Assisted by Tony, he IS totally Helpful, Informative and has AWESOME Customer Service skills. He didnt rush me, he took his time and answered ALL my questions. He even gave me a crash course on the different types of woods, along with the history of each wood. Id Recommend this place to anyone and WILL definitely be going back. If you ever Shop here ask for Tony and he WILL definitely assist you. He doesnt push items on you or rush you. That type of Customer Service Skills are NOT around anymore in this world.⚠️OAN~ The Entrance to this Establishment is located on the Back side of the store. NOT the doors located my the intersection. Thought Id share this for those that are disabled so one doesnt waste time and energy walking to the front of building.
The staff there was very friendly and helpful. Im new to word working and they took my thoughts and ideas and helped me find the best material for what Im trying to accomplish. Wide selection and the price was also great for what I got. I will definitely be a customer again!
JR and the entire staff at Alamo hardwoods were amazing. They helped us pick out and design the perfect mantle. When I realized my Masonary work had sagged leaving a gap at the top they helped me figure out an apron of the same material to go around it and it turned out incredible. I would recommend JR not only for his experience and expertise but also his kind manner in handling customer service.
Great selwction 0f common and rare hardwoods and veneer. Pricing varies based on what you need. Great help and knowledgeable staff.
Great service excellent supply and quality
While I havent made an order yet, they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about woodworking and were able to recommend me not only products they offer, but suggestions from other companies as well.To me, this speaks volumes to a companys integrity, and that they value customers over profit.I would recommend them to anyone with a woodworking project or idea they want done.
I own a Custom Door Company. Our family has been in the Lumber & Door business for 75 years and we have been doing business with Alamo Hardwoods for (3) Three generations. I go see Biff Sr. and Jr. Whenever I need a hard to find molding or species of wood. Biff Sr. is one of a few certified Master Arborist in Texas. His knowledge of wood is off the chart. Thank You Huebinger Family for your wonderful service to the city of San Antonio. Phillip
Very well informed and stocked in a vast selection of hardwoods.
If making beautiful things with beautiful materials turns you on, this is the place. Very special and very helpful.
I havent purchased anything here, but walked through a few times to price projects out. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Show room is laid out efficiently. Prices definitely seem high to me (just moved here from Tennessee), but The quality is also very high. When I need the right piece to finish a project I know I can come back here to find it quickly.
Helpful staff. Great selection!
Good visit, wide selection, solid prices.
My husband and I love this place. Tony was very helpful and took his time to help us. Would recommend this place if you want good quality wood.
Awesome place to find quality hardwoods for any project! Tony was so friendly and helpful! My son was looking for specific types of wood to make Harry Potter wands and he was so excited to find them here. I also picked up some Cocobolo wood to make a wand and some Cypress wood to make a couple of cutting boards for Christmas gifts.
The staff was helpful and accommodating. The price for the 6/4 Padauk was comparable to other places and they cut the board for me on-site.
Helpful staff and nice selection of wood. They will also make custom molding !
How do you build a reputation? You do something well for a long time. The words I would use to describe Alamo Hardwoods are: assiduous, diligent, conscientious, and attentive. Thats a few ways that would describe my experiences as a customer for fully three decades.Would your experience as a customer be the same as mine? On that, I do not hesitate to say, it will..
They were really nice and helpful. As a woman, I tend to feel like men in this kind of place wonder what business I have doing wood working, but not here. They didnt treat me like I probably dont know what Im talking about. They answered my questions without seeming like they thought I was dumb. Ill be back for sure. Plus, their prices are way better than Im used to coming from WA state where everything is way more expensive.
JR was so helpful. I was there to purchase two corbels. They had a large selection. Also impressed with their selection of veneers. I will definitely return when I need hardwoods.
Great selection, very welcoming.
Amazing selection of wood, sizes, and cuts. Awesome for any project. Great old warehouse feel also.
Their knowledge of foreign and domestic hardwoods seems limitless. A note about customer satisfaction, no project was ever unsuccessful or forgotten. I worked here a total of four years while in college studying to become an Architect. And I can honestly say that I learned something everyday until my last. And for those boys next door-QUALITY OVER QUANTITY!!
Staff members were all super helpful and friendly, had a great visit and look forward to going back soon for more great wood!
Should I buy harwood I can get my eyes on? That would be helpful. I have taken on different projects from cutting boards to shaker tables. I find this as a wonderful hobby for anyone. Beware if you dont talk the lingo... Its intimdating to say the least with the service I received. I get it... its a learning curve and Ill chose to order online from here on out. Unless its a slab for a table ! They do have a showroom that will give you entrainment for days and will get you thinking of your next project. Guild recommendations say get friendly with your local lumber yard.. remember though study the lingo before going into here...
Yes its true - you do pay more for the best. Go to Alamo only if you want the highest quality woods, people that actually know something, and want to serve you. They do custom cuts and thicknesses. Awesome service even for the hobbyist.
Theyre always helpful and very knowledgeable. Theres always a WIDE variety of wood. Kind of expensive but not as expensive as woodcraft
They are a little dismissive. I am not sure about their price but they are starting out with we only use solid wood and it is gonna be expensive. It does sound like I wont be able to afford it. They also stated that we might not be able to handle the construction at the very first email without knowing what my project is about. I would not recommend this kind of customer service to anyone.
Great staff, great quality, and overall a great environment, the employees have been working there for years and know what there doing and really make you feel like part of the family
Great selection of a wide range of woods. Beautiful mesquite pieces.
Called looking for some Quarter Sawn White Oak. I think it was JR . .was up front and told me that the price of quarter sawn wood is very expensive. I have a number of quarter sawn antiques from the late 1800s to the early 1900s so I was ready for the “shocker”. He also let me know they have some in house finish work available. I have NOT done business with them yet (in the works now), but in this day and age, it is really tough to get great feedback from knowledgeable folks. Will report back after picking up product from them.
Unbelievable. What a beautiful store. Great customer service, too.
Friendly, depth of knowledge about forest. Excellent product, and customer service. Huebingers are awesome!
Easily the most expensive hardwood supplier Ive ever been to. Rough sawn was more than S4S at other places.
Employees are friendly and their custom pieces are amazing.
We had them cut wood for a coffee table we made and it came out perfect and as far as customer service what a great and friendly bunch of people. Going back .
Good place to find old style of trim or special woods
Prices are VERY inflated. They charged me over double what wenge costs online and even compared to a store in Austin. My fault for not doing my homework, but hopefully you will do yours!I even asked a professional countertop company for a quote to build it (flat grain wenge - glued, finished, and routed) and they quoted less than the price of your wood! The staff was helpful but Id frankly expect that when Im spending $900.At the end of the day I spent $400-500 more than this should have cost me. Part of that is my fault because I should have done more homework, but part of that is your fault for taking advantage of people. Im a big fan of local businesses, but not when theyre gouging. For the record I had already cut the wood when I realized just how inflated those prices were. Taking it back was not an option.
We buy all our wood here for our furniture, you cant find people who are more helpful and know what they are talking about more than Alamo Hardwoods. On top of this they are just nice people!
Great Service
Great service and awesome selection thank you
I could spend hours looking around in here! Great service! Gigem!
Awesome store and great service!
Very helpful!
