I went to Paris Hatters to get my first Stetson. I did not get the mans name but I assume he was the owner. He was very nice, easy going and accommodating. He steamed and adjusted my hat to best fit my face and I love it. I would happily shop there again!
This is where everyone that God loves and wants to be happy, should be privileged to buy at least 1 hat in their lifetime. I have been lucky enough to buy several from this iconic store. And I cant wait to return and buy more. They take the time and give attention to what I say, and then they do their best to make me feel like a billion bucks.
We went in fully intending to each buy a hat. We left disgusted with the experience. They’re so worried about someone looking around to find the right hat size that they follow you around as if touching their hats would be the worst thing you could possibly do. I have never been to a hat store where you couldn’t pick up the hat yourself and try different sizes. If you are worried about tourists that don’t know how to shop for hats or might break your oh so delicate straw hats, then move locations. Highly recommend a shop like Gruene Hat Company- great little town and happy to have tourists and locals alike! Photo is a Stetson 6X from GHC.
Abe helped me buy a hat and helped me pick the perfect one for me. Walked me through different styles and color choices and helped me find one that would fit me for everyday use.Service was amazing and the hats are above all else pure quality. You can tell Abe truly cares about what he is selling and making sure you can get the right item for yourself.
Coming from New York, my husband did much research on hats before coming to San Antonio. He wanted an authentic, quality hat. I did some research on where to go to get one. Im so glad we found Paris Hatters! He showed the woman a picture of what he was looking for. They had the exact one he wanted. A nice gentleman fit the hat perfectly to him and suggested a shape that made it personalized to him. Awesome service from them and they were so knowledgeable! Very impressed!
Wonderful staff!! So friendly, polite and professional. Made the experience feel like you were good ‘ol friends. The way Texas just is! My fiancé got his wedding hat quick and easily fitted too! You want quality products with quality service, look no further! And never visit SA without getting yourself a hat with a custom fit! Thank y’all!
While traveling in California someone said if I was gonna get a hat there’s only one place to get it from and that’s Paris Hatters in San Antonio, Texas. The staff is wonderful and location has a lot of heart in it. You could tell they knew their stuff when they didn’t have to measure me for a hat they just knew what size would work best . You won’t find another hatter like this anywhere else. Their selection is huge and they have hats to accommodate various budgets . I travel a lot for competitions but I refuse to buy hats from anyone else. If you’re looking for a traditional hatter in Texas with great service and years of experience in the business, this is the place to go.
To be fair, I didnt get to experience this place. I was on the website because my mom decided she wanted vintage style hat pins in silver and gold... less than a week before her birthday. I didnt see the hat pins that she vaguely described to me on the site. 😅 Once I get to actually go here, I will update my review.
A San Antonio icon! I went in without much knowledge and was greeted by friendly staff. They had no problem spending time showing me hats from entry level to what I would consider luxury. I was able to get a hat I felt good wearing and had it shaped to my liking. Can’t wait to come back.
Visiting San Antonio for fun and staying downtown, my country Kansas born, Detroit raised son wanted a “cowboy” hat for his 21st birthday so we walked on over! It was easy and so comfortable, like shopping at our own neighborhood store. Abe helped him pick out his Gambler and he loves it! Great store and I love the feel of it! Thank you for adding to our great stay in San Antonio!
We were out in San Antonio on a wonderful vacation with friends and we were extremely excited to get a true and authentic hat from this store. Unfortunately, we were greeted by two women who had more interest in their conversation than five new customers entering her establishment and willing to spend top dollar for a hat. After we ended up introducing ourselves, my friend asked if they had big enough hats for his decently large hat size. She immediately assumed that we were tourists looking for a hat to wear for the weekend and responded to my friend saying “we don’t have kick around hats and these hats are expensive”. After stating multiple times that we do not care about the price, she continued to assume that we were not wealthy enough to afford a hat from her outdated and poorly run storefront. She kept asking if we wanted to actually buy a hat or just try hats on. Super judgmental! My friends and I then lost interest due to the lack of effort and customer service this woman has. Unfriendly words were exchanged on the way out and it was definitely justifiable on our end considering the financial insult and judgment. I suppose southern hospitality does not exist in this business.
The first experience my husband and I had last year was extremely pleasant with the man that helped him purchase his first hat. The second experience was was also memorable but not in a pleasant way. The owners wife is the most unbearable, miserabl, judgmental women to ever have a buying experience with. My husband was not pleased with the hat chosen we purchased on Sunday, he called and asked if there was anyway to have it exchanged and was told, they do not do returns due to the many tourists that wear the hat once and want to bring them back for a refund. HE WASNT ASKING TO RETURN THE MERCHANDISE! As locals we drove to the store and were greeted by the women, that didnt even have the audacity to even stand up and stayed seated to greet us from the back of the store. She refused to exchange the hat even when my husband offered her money to exchange the hat for something he really wanted. THE HAT WE PURCHASED ON SUNDAY WAS NEVER WORN, WE TOOM IT HOME IN A BOX AND THATS HOW IT STAYED UNTIL 3 DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE WHEN WE TRIED TO EXHANGE IT! As a returning customer she did not offer any solution at all, she obviously doesnt value returning customers. After we left the store unsatisfied we found a nice homeless man gave the $300 hat to him and went to Outlaws western wear which is not too far from Paris Hatters. We were greeted kindly and taken care of right away! We ended up spending a good amount of money, which we would have done as well at Paris Hatters, if we were treated as valued customers.
BEWARE of the sales lady in the store with light color eyes. She is rude to say the least. Right at the start she was profiling her customers as they walked in. Don’t give them your hard earn money. The other two salesman were knowledgeable and helpful. Choose wisely.
Is love the people the selection the history amazing place
Cool old place to buy a hat.
I had a great time their got a custom hat and got to talk to mr Abe over all great time their
The crotchety old sharlatan who runs the joints got a attitude as sour as spoiled milk. As soon as you walk in your questioned about your financial status, by a woman who certainly makes less money than me. Incredibly insulting to say the least especially to be talked to like that by someone of her status. Take your money somewhere else, dont waste your time.
Im a lifetime San Antonian and stepped into Paris Hatters for the first time last week. I found the hat I was looking for at a great price. The staff was very friendly and patient as I tried several hats.
Best hat shop in all of TEXAS! If the hatband on your hat on the inside doesnt say Paris Hatters then rush on down and get that fixed right now pardner!
I bought my Stetson here 2 years ago and brought it in today for a reshaping. The gentleman working was so friendly and helpful and said it would be done soon. I came back and there was no charge. My hat looks as good as the day I bought it! Buy your hats here!!
We tried a few hat stores around town before learning about Paris and it by far surpassed all other stores in town. Best prices, best quality, and best service in town! Hats off to the ladies at Paris! They can do it all. Will definitely return!
The best and most famous place to get a cowboy hat 🤠
Great place and best service. Got two Open Road Stetsons.
Worst customer service ever. I dont look like someone that has money, maybe thats why the Lady in the front didnt considere me when I entered the place. My intention was to buy a hat, but I ended leaving the place because I felt judged and not welcome there. There were no other customer in the store, all the employees failed to notice me. Too bad, Ill spend my money elsewhere.
Terrific store, selection and people!
The quality of their hats is matched by the quality of their customer service. We got there just as they had locked the door and closed the store. But in a display of true southern hospitality they reopened the store and welcomed us in. Very knowledgeable staff, and even though they reopened for us, they did not rush us with our decision.
Great customer service. They were very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. They made sure to get me in the hat that bested suited me.
I bought my first lid from Paris Hatters today. Awesome experience! I originally bought a cowboy hat from Cavenders early this week, but returned it today. Im thankful I did. Now dont get me wrong. I love Cavenders, but for hats Paris Hatters is where its at. Luis helped me pick out a hat and helped shape it to my preference and liking. The guy knows his business and made my first hat buying experience a great one. All around good guy and I cant to go buy another. Thanks for the first class experience.
Love Mrs Candy she is the best
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Found just the hat I was looking for there.
Great environment. Great piece of San Antonio history. Great staff. And a great hat!
Paris hatters is an amazing place with over 100 years of history. If you are a cowboy hat enthusiast you must go see this place. Billy shaped my Stetson to perfection just what i wanted to me it was worth 6 stars. Thankyou Paris hatters.
Just gave away a hat I bought here. Expensive. I remember I was rushed to get out and I trusted the pick that was recommended. Never really looked good on me. Never wore but a few times to show friend. Friend said it was too small for my head.
My best friend and I were very excited to go inside this store and unfortunately Myrna was not very friendly to her. My friend doesn’t have very much hat knowledge and Merna seemed very uninterested in helping her and a bit rude. I tried to diffuse the tension a few times, but as someone who loves hats I feel like people should be eager to help someone learn about hats and finding the right one. Unfortunately I won’t be bringing my business or family business there again, but with that being said Luis was awesome and extremely helpful. I saw a hat he shaped in there and it was beautiful.
After researching several places to restore a HAT that had a lot of sentimental value to my boyfriend, I picked Paris Hatters! Let me tell you all-THEY OUT DID HIS EXPECTATIONS. Luis is VERY talented and knowledgeable and the owners were very polite and very helpful when selecting ANOTHER HAT To purchase! The selection of hats by far can meet anyone’s needs. We will be forever grateful for a job well done and forever customers!
Great historical business. And best place to buy a hat. Employees are awesome. They know what they are doing. We bought hats while there. Gabriel fixed us up and made us famous! Thank you. Recommended to any one looking for an awesome hat!!
Too busy to talk to you on the phone. Makes you feel like you are bothering them. I even told him that I had purchased a hat from them previously. He was a slick talker saying that everything is on sale all the time, just come on in. He didnt have the time to answer my questions about a felt hat. I will take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of cowboy hat shops in San Antonio.
Service was impeccable!!!, nice, helpful staff. I would have given 5 stars if they carried more brands of felt (beaver) hats. Stetson is the only brand carried. I apologize if I am wrong. Overall great experience, even though the parking is a little sketchy.
My father-in-law asked for a hat for his birthday, and specifically from Paris Hatters in San Antonio. The experience alone was worth the drive down, and the shop a throw-back to a time when hats truly made the man (or woman). What an enjoyable time visiting with the owner, looking over the selection of hats, and seeing all the famous people who have stopped into this little shop. Well worth a stop, even if you dont buy a hat...but if you are looking for a quality hat, this is the one stop you should absolutely make!
Untruthful employees/manager. We were told a hat can be exchanged if the person wanted another one instead and the next day of the purchase the same employee said that they could not do that. Don’t recommend this place, simply bad customer service.
Loved the attention to detail. Bought 2 hats for myself and one for my wife and daughter. Also took home a beautiful pair of boots. Enjoyed my time here. Can’t wait to go back for my 1000x’s.
Im looking for a Greek fishermans hat. I called first. They said they had the color I wanted in stock. I drove all the way down from Stone Oak to give them my business because I believe in buying local. I even parked on the other side of downtown and walked all the way to their business with my five year old child, because theres no parking. I was determined to support them. Turns out they didnt have what I needed, which is understandable, but they really handled it poorly. I asked the woman who was helping me if she could help me figure out my hat size, so I could at least know what size I needed when they got more in, or possibly order one through them. If hats is your business that should be kind of a no-brainer. She was either unwilling to help me or said she could not help me with sizing. I was stunned. Another gentleman chimed in on the conversation and was a little friendlier saying he would get more in around the holidays. I get that these folks have been around a long time, but they could take a few lessons from The Haberdashery in Austin. They provided exceptional service. I made a big effort for these guys and they practically shunned me. Even if they get my hat in I probably wont be going to Paris again.
Flew to Texas just to buy a Stetson Hat. These are the best hatter in U.S.A. Period! Owner knows his stuff. My Favorite place to visit. Outstanding service and sells. Best selections in one location
Went in to get a hat shaped. Looked a little off, Luis this guy who helped us let us know the brim was a bit bigger than the one I was wearing. He was able to trim it and shape it to match the one I was wearing and even cleaned the one I had on. I have never had a bad experience and will continue to go back for all my cowboy hats. Thanks Luis!
Walked in and was greater by a nice lady, she asked what I was looking for, I told her a nice cowboy hat. Within an hour I walked out with a hat to last a lifetime as the nice older gentleman informed me of. The hat fitter was very cool and easy to work with. Took my input and produced a great form fitted shaped hat. Store is older, right in downtown San Antonio, rich in history. If you want a quality hat, this is the place. You get what you pay for here, and it comes with personal service by all.
My cousin came in this weekend for a visit and wanted a Stetson hat. He found a size small straw Stetson off white hat. It looks great on him.
This place was wonderful. Friendly without being pushy. They asked me what I may want or like, showed me... then let me be to decide. Then held hat so I could pick it up when I left. Fixed hat and curled it special. Fantastic place and the family who ran it was so professional. If you want a hat from TEXAS, this is the kind of place you want to get it from. I bought a wonderful Stetson hat from Paris Hatters. It is a gift and was the perfect one.
What a great shop. Wonderful family owned full of history. Prices are fair. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Bought 2 pairs of boots. Store is full of hats boots belts and staff helps you with everything. Store has been there forever. Loved looking at all the photos of people who have been in. If the walls could talk with all those stories...
As I entered, I was addressed quickly, in a cordial, professional manner. My questions were answered and advise was offered when asked for also in a professional manner. She ( staff ) was very polite and patient with all my questions, the Black wool Fedora, very nice quality, and she made sure of proper fit. I highly recommend staff / company.
What an awesome place! I brought my son here over the weekend to get hats together. It was such a great experience. The staff was very patient and helpful and helped us make some special memories together, and I’m really enjoying the nice hat I got, I’ll be back for me.
Respect customers wishes as this is your business. So when a client ask if you have an item in stock. You show it too them and the client shows you a stain on the hat. One would think it is rude too roll your eyes at the customer who is trying to purchase from your store. Not to be daunted by the rude service. Asked to see if there was another hat, same size and shade. Since I am the person buying the items you are selling, and yes I am picky in what I buy. I do not want to see imperfections in quality. Nor do I want the salesman to roll his eyes at me. Just rude.
Paris Hatters in San Antonio was AWESOME! Super friendly and helpful. They brought me several different hats to try on before I found the right one. I like the fact that they wanted to assist me. I bought a Panama straw Open Road. The price was a good value for the quality of the hat. Ill be back.
Excellant service anb knowledge. Nice young lady.
Walking in to the store we were greeted immediately by a gentleman behind the counter who inquired what we needed. I was looking for a straw cowboy hat and he escorted me to the back to show me the selection. He gave me a few to try on and we quickly found my hat size. My friend found a pair of Lucchese boots she loved and he patiently helped us both simultaneously, finding her size in the boots while helping me find the right hat. Once I found the perfect hat, he helped me get it shaped just right. He took the time to educate me on cowboy hats and how to determine the hats quality. He also took the time to show me the difference between machine-made and hand-made hats. Not only did I buy a hat, she bought the boots. All-in-all it was a fantastic experience and reasonable prices. If you are in San Antonio I would recommend stopping in to Paris Hatters to check out their hats. The ONLY thing I was disappointed about with my trip to Paris Hatters was that not a single employee (including the owner) was wearing either boots or a hat (of any kind). I mean when you walk in to a famous hat store in Texas you kind of expect to see SOMEONE else in boots and/or a hat.
Go There! Just do it! They have a great selection and the service is great. Shaping and fitting is perfect. Make sure to chat up Abe, the owner. Hes a great guy. While I was there I really enjoyed sitting and having a conversation with him. While we were sitting and talking another customer came in to replace his tattered old hat. He asked how much a hat was. After one of the employees answered him his reply was, Thats how much you were selling them for 15 years ago.
This place is neat! Hats, and more hats! The staff is nice and very knowledgeable. I will be imploring people to come and see you!
Wonderful experience, got a great hat. It was a must do in San Antonio. Staff was helpful and kind.
We walked in for service and the lady waiting on us was condescending and snotty. We then asked if they had a booth at the Stock show and she said we wouldn’t waste our time there our clients come to us. We are use to getting excellent service at other stores so we walked out and didn’t buy anything. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend them!
Rude staff, but good hats. The people who worked there seemed bothered by our presence even though we were ready to buy and did. Next time we will simply drive to Austin instead of dealing with rude people
Purchased a straw Stetson, a couple of weeks ago. The gentleman, Abe, was courteous, helpful, and helped me find the exact hat I had in mind. It was shaped perfectly. Between the hat and the shaping, it became the exact hat I had in my minds eye. And you cant go wrong with a Stetson, in the hands of people who know what they are doing when it comes to transforming a blank hat.
What an awesome store! Being a San Antonio native I can honestly say there isnt anywhere else like this in town. Ive bought a couple hats here and I always get compliments on them. The staff is super helpful and friendly!
Great place to get a hat. The staff found what I was looking for and fitted me perfectly.
Great selection, friendly, skilled, knoledgable staff!
If I could give them no stars I would have. I have never been treated with such contempt and lack of hospitality. We were treated extremely disrespectful by not one woman but two! I am not sure how they stay in business when they treat possible clients this way. I have several Stetson hats and was asking how to repair one that I have sentimental attachment to and was treated like I was a plebeian. I was excited to go to a shop that had so many options and my excitement was deflated from the moment I was addressed by the first woman. I was hoping to have multiple hats shipped back to California but that quickly changed after the horrible customer service. I would not recommend this place of business due to the atrocious service. No customer should ever feel like they are not welcome in an establishment or they are doing a disservice to an employee who is supposed to be serving them. Shame on you, Paris Hatters.
I was looking for a certain hat & color for someone. The gentleman that helped me, handed me a hat & said that it was the color I was looking for. When I delivered it to the person, they told me that wasnt the color they wanted. So the salesman didnt know his colors very well. I was from out of town & couldnt go back & exchange. In a specialty store like that & the price I paid I should have been told how to take care & any other info. Staff wasnt that friendly. Plus they were more expensive than getting the same hat at the mall.
I came in looking for a hat with a budget up to $500. I am a competitive barrel racer. The girl I asked about hat size, etc. was rude. I don’t care who has bought hats from you. If you can’t be polite to all your customers, I am not spending my money with you. 😊
The staff is very friendly here! Extremely knowledgeable. There are signs everywhere not to handle the hats, to ask for assistance first. Although there wasn’t a style I was interested in, they have plenty and were still very helpful!
Cleaned up and creased an older hat; they are cordial and they do good work.
You could buy ten better quality hats online... compared to the price of 1 at Paris hatters. The place is a disgrace... Its stuck in the past! Thinking the name Paris hatters are for the rich only... When its really for the suckers only!
My wife and I went in when we were in San Antonio for a wedding. Abe waited on us. What a genuine man! He let me try on a few hats, but he had a definite opinion what would look best on me. He was right. After leaving the store with my new Stetson straw, a man on the street stopped me and said, Bad ass hat, man. Today, I just received my new Christmas hat from Abe. Chocolate Open Road! Abe knows what he was talking about. Decades of experience will give you that along with the character he so wonderfully brings to the table. Sadly, our world is losing folks like him. Characters like Abe dont suffer brats well. Take that as the grain of salt you need to read into the ridiculous comments made by a couple of people here. Illegitimi non carborundum, Abe. I hope to see you again.
I just had a fantastic experience at Paris Hatters. I wasnt looking for anything in particular, but Ive been thinking about getting a hat and have tried on a bunch to see what I like. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. The woman who helped me explained many differences in their hats like the material and quality. They have a good variety of styles and brands to try. I ended up leaving with my first nice (non-baseball) hat (a Scala Panama) and Im very happy with it so far.
I was very impressed with the service I received at Paris Hatters. I had a young lady by the name of Alex who was very kind and very patient with me on helping me select the right hat for me. I decided on the Gambler hat and I am very pleased. Thank you Alex and Paris Hatters!-Sauce-
These are some darn tootin fantastic people who are willing and love to hel0
Walked in to purchase a hat for my husband, walked out with one as well! Great people, amazing customer service, and fair prices for a Stetson AND custom work. Will return in the future!! Thanks guys!!
Recently moved to the area and needed to find a new hat shop. I definitely found one!! Great service, and selection. I picked up two Stetson Stratoliners both are perfect! Thanks for the help And!
Great customer service. My husband got a great customized hat.
I purchased a hat and the service was great. They have a huge selection but these are high end hats which are easily mishandled. i was respectful of their hats and policies and they quickly relaxed and were wonderful.
Ive been buying fine hats from these fine people for the last 15 years, you couldnt ask for better service personalities or hats.
Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable! Will order your size if not in stock.
The place to go for all your hat needs! Excellent service and help, cant recommend highly enough. The range of hats is overwhelming!
I’m never going here again very rude and untruthful employees. They scammed me out of 100$. These people DO NOT EXCHANGE HATS if you decide the hat is not for you.
We were looking for a specific style that they didnt have. The place seems pretty pricey and VERY strict about not touching anything or taking any pictures. We made sure to obey their signs, but it is a little unreasonable to have an entire wall of hats on an aisle no more than two people could walk by and then expect your customers to not touch or try on the hats. Not for your basic tourist wanting a cowboy hat while in Texas.
Great selection; Top-notch service.I purchased a Stetson Catera the week before last along with a custom braided horse hair hatband. Given the ever-changing weather conditions where I spend most of my time in the Pacific Northwest, I had specific requirements for a quality hat that would stand the test of time. The staff at Paris Hatters was very accommodating, answering all of my questions, and helped me select a style that suited me and fit comfortably. Overall, the time spent deciding on what to purchase was easygoing and informative. Then, last week, I returned and had Gabriel permanently attach the band as it had been slipping off. He did a great job; took the time to do it right, and the hat looks and feels great. Based on my experience, I can recommend Paris Hatters with confidence.
This place is cool I had a Stetson custom made for me buy them they took a hat that had curves and creases and created the Hat that I wanted I would highly recommend them and the old guy that was on the TV show American Pickers is still behind the counter hes somewhat of a character
Great place to buy a custom hat. Good selection and very helpful employees.
I was so excited to take my visiting-from-out-of-town sister to this world-renowned store to get her hat. What we found there was a store full of good-old-boys, all having their hats shaped and chatting it up with the owner and his employee. At one point the owner did brush past us and invite us to look around, but other than that, no one approached us to help. I flagged him down again and explained that my sister didnt know her hat size, and he just suggested she try a few on, without even offering to measure. When the good-old-boys left, so did the owner and employees! We were literally the only ones on the sales floor for 10 minutes. We finally decided to disregard the little signs that warned against taking the hats off the shelf without staff assistance, and we tried to find a hat she liked. My sister found three hats she liked, but she was told that they didnt have her size. When she settled on another, she asked to have it steamed/fitted but the owner told her he thought it looked fine and proceeded to ring her up.My advice to anyone shopping at Paris Hatters would be come wearing a cowboy hat (and a moustache, if you can manage it) if you want to be taken seriously as a customer.
The staff was awesome. Walked in knowing what I wanted and they were able to professionally reblock, shape, and fit the hat to my specifications.
Outstanding service! My First hat and they were patient with all my questions and got my hat fitted in no time at all and gave me helpful tips on the care of my new hat! Im glad I stopped by on my way to Houston!
