I love this place the ladies are very nice and normally I love the quality of material. This last time I went in I bought some really pretty material and was excited to get working on my project. I have to say Im a little disappointed in the quality of the one material. Its thinner than I realized, and it gets distorted extremely easy. It was so hard for me to fuse interfacing because it kept buckling. The other material I had no problems. Ill just have to find out the brand of that material and not buy it again.
I have nearly finished visiting all the stores for the 2021 Bluebonnet Shop Hop and it has been so fun see all the shops in this area! This is my first Shop Hop and I am so proud to say that Sew Special Quilts is my home store. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful! I am new to quilting and embroidery. What a treat it has been to attend and participate in classes that are offered by very knowledgeable and talented staff. Additionally no matter what my project is, there is someone at Sew Special Quilts who graciously accepts that I am a novice and helps me find a solution to my issue. Its an amazing community of people who own and work at Sew Special Quilts!
Very helpful & friendly staff. They helped me look for some specific fabric I had previously bought a month ago. Ill definitely be going back
Nice shop and nice ladies. Good thread selection.
Lovely place with helpful people. Not snobby or clique-ish. Ask for help in color selection or patterns, they know what quilters and sewists like.
I went in looking to start quilting and using my moms sewing machine. Laurie did tale time to get me familarized with my machine, I was so excited. I ask her if they do one on one sessions she advise yes at 50.00 an hour I was thrilled. I sent her an email specifically what I wanted to learn. She said they had to look to get me a time. I wanted 1 hour a week. I called twice looking to talk to her to see what was going on with scheduling and was told both times she was busy and I was treated as though I was calling as friend and not a paying customer. Keep in mind I spent over 150 just to get started. I was a,paying customer.
Dee was very helpful finding color ways for my grandsons quilt.
Where do I start? Literally everyone there is so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, including the owner.I first found this store when COVID-19 affected everything and I could not find any stores available to provide what I needed to make masks. Sew Special Quilts offered curbside service. Every time I called, I was able to talk to a person and even though they were extremely busy, they made my call a priority and were present with me for all of my questions and they made suggestions for what I needed.Their excellent customer service is the reason I became one of their newest loyal customers.Barbara was especially helpful with her knowledge of sewing machines and serger machines. Her suggestions were so valuable to me. I purchased the machine I needed and am very happy with it.I had the pleasure of attending a sewing class as well and it was great - very informative and useful information. It was definitely worth my time! Thank you Jackie!I would recommend this store to anyone who enjoys sewing.
I really like this store. Staff is friendly, all fabrics of high quality and always arranged attractively. Had my Baby Lock worked on and was very satisfied with the service. It did take a while to get back, which they were very up front about, but I made sure it was during a time when I knew I was going to be unable to sew.
Everyone so so helpful and knowledgeable. I will be returning.
Great fabric and the employees are always very helpful.
I have wanted a sewing machine for about a year now and postponed purchase because I didnt really need one. Then the pandemic hit and you couldnt get one (or at least reasonably priced). I decided to look one more time to try to find one. I came across one online at Sew Special Quilts and gave them a call. To my surprise they still had the model I was looking for and would ship it (out of state). Within a few days I had my machine, fabric and a note from Charli (shipping extraordinaire) whom we share the same hometown!During this time I recommend calling them if you have questions or concerns as they are pretty busy and might not answer your email in the time frame you need. My only recommendation, updates visible on the page with the shipping status. It might be a system glitch or just the volume of business preventing them from updating. That might reduce calls/emails about orders. Either way my order came fast!! This was a more than positive experience for me and I look forward to future purchases from SSQ.
Bought a B535 machine for $2300 in March 2020. Over next few months encountered one problem after another with it until it went into shop in Nov and needed new part to repair machine. Due to Covid delivery problems the part was still not available by end of Jan 2021. Throughout this period I ranted and raged over the machine and even posted a one star review regarding product and store service. Needless to say nothing constructive was gained. My New Years resolution was not to sweat the small stuff seeing how we all have bigger issues worldwide we are dealing with. I contacted the store. Asked to negotiate a resolution and walked out with a Bernina 740 after they refunded the full payment for the B535. I am happy with the machine, with the service and attention that the manager paid to my issue and the ensuing attention provided by Laurie. In trying to abide by my New Years Resolution I eliminated additional teeth grinding and stress. The machine works beautifully, I feel comfortable going back to the store, and am happy that I put this issue behind me.
These people are thieves. After dropping off my Baby Lock sewing machine I received a call saying I could pick it up and upon arriving at the business I was told the charge would be ($200) but they werent sure how long it would work because a part it needed was unavailable. Why would you charge a customer any price at all if you were unable to do the repairs properly ?( AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE ANY OPTIONS AT ALL )
Lovely shop with a nice selection of fabrics, and an amazing selection of thread--really. If you need a particular thread--this place has it! I actually was looking for a poorly defined needle-in-a-haystack metallic thread, and one of the staff (I wish I had got their name) figured out what it was, and while it had been discontinued, remembered that they still had some but it had been pulled from the floor. She found it in the back and sold me several for a fantastic price. Awesome customer service, and, did I mention the thread selection?!
Great store with a wonderful machine tech.To Lena who said they only cater to people with money; their prices are the same that youd find anywhere for the same quality fabric. Joanns or Hoby Lobby will sell you cheaper fabric but it will not hold its color or make as nice a quilt. You do truly get what you pay for. Buy a small piece of fabric and compare for yourself. If you are going to spend your time doing a project buy the best quality you can afford.
This is a favorite fabric store carrying high-end, popular fabrics, as well as patterns and sewing/embroidery machines. The staff are very warm and welcoming and after a few visits you begin to feel like family. They also offer great maintenance and repair service on certain makes of sewing machines at a decent price.
Jackie is an absolute life saver! There was a minor problem with my sewing machine so I brought it in and she fixed it the same day! They are very knowledgeable and I definitely picked up a few pointers. They have great customer service and a very organized store!! I will be going back for future purchases and to attend some classes!
I went needing to match a very specific color and Robert was quick to offer help in finding it. He asked what machine I have and, unlike other local stores, didnt act like my machine was a joke when I told him. He also told me about a few of their machines but only after I asked. He was not pushy at all and if I get another machine, that is probably where I will go. I plan to take my current machine there for basic service in a couple weeks.
Wonderful shop, helpful and knowledgeable about the products they sell. Not a Big Box Sewing Center! This shop provides personal and personable service. Nice selection fabrics, rulers and threads.
Visited your store for the first time, was really impressed by the friendly staff. Lots of fabrics Lots of fat quarters, they will cut fat quarts for you. I know I will be viisiting frequently. I plan to take a class inthe futur
The staff is exceptional. Everyone is knowledgeable and very personable. There really is no other place I would go to buy fabric or machines. They have the best sales staff and the best service techs for when I get a lead foot on my foot control....Absolutely Amazing!
Barbara made purchasing a baby lock serger an easy and educational experience. This place was full of knowledgeable and friendly staff that make you feel welcome. They had an answer for any question you have.
Very helpful people. They get bonus points for not looking nervous when I came in with four small boys ;-)
This place is friendly. I like that I found some unique art supplies that will expand my art quilting. It seems like they mostly have more modernish kinds of prints. But, they do have some kids stuff and some batiks. They have lots of patterns too. Its super clean and I love that.
Great fabric shop offering a wide range of fabrics. They sell machines too but dont try to sales pitch every customer. The offer fabrics for clothing, crafting, and quilting.
Awesome local quilt shop! All of the staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable; if they dont know the answer, theyll find right out for you! They have a wonderful selection of so many of the newest, quality quilting cotton collections, solids, blenders and a nice selection of batiks, as well as some rayons and knits. Their pattern and thread selections are really awesome and they offer a lot of great classes and clubs at very competitive prices...you just cant beat their #$5quilt!!! They are a top tier, award-winning dealership for both Bernina and Babylock, which means they have some of the best pricing around for the full range of machines offered by these brands. The tech department does top-notch machine service and are always available to answer any question you can dream up!I always look forward to going into Sew Special to see all of the new, fun things that have come in. The best part is that Cheers feeling I have when I come through the door.
Friendly, helpful and I love their fabric!I purchased an embroidery machine from them and have been 100% pleased with the machine and service after the sale.
The people at the store are so nice and so helpful. Very much looking forward to continuing with classes here!
Unlike many other Quilt Stores in this city, Sew Special Quilts prides themselves as Customer Friendly, and willing to answer any questions- no matter the topic.
Great quilt place, they have classes, sell machines, and i believe they are home to the modern quilt guild in san antonio.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great fabrics and lots of choices.
Warranty & annual maintenance on sewing machines is poor and VERY slow! If I knew then what I know now, I would not have purchased a Babylock machine from them.
Very friendly staff. The store is awesome.
Wonderful staff and lovely fabrics.
Awesome classes, machines are a bit pricey, nice material selection
A Bernina center. Lots of fabrics to choose from. Provide classes. Many kits and supplies.
Great service, even better people!!!
Its eye candy for the quilter.
Love this shop!
Kinda pricey, and they only cater to people who have lots of money
Wow, super friendly people, and a beautiful selection of fabrics!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Wonderful staff
Love this quilt shop!
Awesome and quality fabric, thread, etc. I love, love shopping there. You can look on your own or they are happy to help in many ways. Dont miss out if you love to sew and/or quilt.
