I would like to begin this with the fact that I have worked in construction for many years. Quite a few of them as a Project Manager for a large local GC. If one of my subcontractors handled business this way, they would not be on my bid list the next project. This counter top is for a double sink vanity. It is a two man 30 minute install, including carrying the 20 x 60 slab up stairs...That being said, I selected a remnant piece online that was in Empires stock yard. After paying in full for the counter top and the labor. We scheduled for install on Monday (5/25/2020). Sales mistakenly set this for Memorial day and asked that we move it to Tuesday 8 am-12 window. I agreed. Tuesday at 11:30 am I received a call that the installer was behind and couldnt arrive till 2:00 pm. So I pushed my schedule for the day back further. At 1:30 pm I received a text message from the installer that he wouldnt make it there till 4:00 pm. However he would prefer to be there at 8:00 am the following day. After some back and forth I agreed that if he could be there at 8:00 am sharp I could do it.Wednesday morning at 7:10 I received a call that the installer was outside of my house ready to install. I told him I was not home and had to move my morning to 6:30 am to work around his already late schedule. He informed me that he had a busy day and needed to install. I told him to have his dispatch call me but I cant base my life around when he feels like showing up to do work I have already paid for. At 8:00 am today I was sitting in my front yard waiting for an answer from dispatch. At which point I was told, I have you on the schedule for tomorrow (Thursday) 8-12. After back and forth, the scheduler expressed frustration for the situation and felt my sentiment. However, I am still on standby for 3 days pushing my plumber and the use of my bathroom further and further back.

Bought a remnant for a bathroom counter. To get a granite measure scheduled, you must prepay for the entire fabrication. I was saving about $200 from another quote, so I paid. When day of install came, original granite had been cut too short. Rescheduled and replacement granite was not even a close match, but when I called to tell them it wouldnt work, I was told I had to come in to pick out the granite and this would be the last time they would do this. Excuse me, but who ruined my original piece?? Third install date scheduled and they showed up at 9 in the a.m. (supposed to be 3-5 in afternoon). I would have paid the extra $200 3x for all of the hassle this ended up being!

Artistic Counters provided the countertops for my remodel. They worked with my contractor and didnt really deal with me at all until I arrived on the date the project was to be completed and found that there was a ton of work left to do. Our kitchen counters were severely delayed (it is fun to live without a kitchen sink and other amenities) and had to be reordered because the initial slab had major problems. They were pretty good about fixing problems after we noticed them, but the work wasnt very clean. Even today the underside of the counters (where you can see the edges and under the island) have the manufacturing marks visible. So, that is not very classy. I am sure I could call and they would come out and fix the issues, but it isnt much fun to have to point out everything that needs to be fixed. Additionally, the seams have become pretty obvious even though it has only been a year since we had them installed. The material has also stained somewhat randomly. We bought a product that is supposed to be completely impervious but there are stains from spills that sat for a pretty short period of time. It seems like the manufacturing of the product was flawed, which probably occurred because it was a rush job due to how long the delay had already been.We also wanted a specific edge on all of our counters but we were told that was not possible even though it is obviously possible. Because we just needed to be able to make things livable for our family we just took what we were offered. Finally, recently we found out that our contractor hadnt paid Artistic Counters so after a year I got a phone call and letter from an attorney. I immediately returned the attorneys call and told him that I would try to work with the contractor, and he seemed nice enough. However, when I tried to reach out to the attorney to propose a resolution I never received an email back. Instead I got another letter mocking the proposal and again threatening to sue. The contractor and I reached out again and got no response from Artistic Counters or the attorney. Rather than deal with a lawsuit from an attorney that doesnt respond to anything the contractor and I agreed on a plan to pay Artistic. Interestingly enough, within a few hours of the contractor sending confirmation of payment to Artistic via email the attorney reached out to me to confirm payment. So, Artistic Counters is probably average in quality for the San Antonio market, but the customer service side of things is certainly below average, so unless you are getting a deal I would recommend using another source for your counters. There are a number of great businesses out there to choose from in the area (including Austin) and if you have a high-end project like mine you will probably be a lot more satisfied with an alternative to Artistic Counters.
