I don’t live in San Antonio to be able to visit the store frequently and in person, but buying over the phone was just as easy! Janessa was a huge help and they shipped my items right to my door. Communication was very easy and helpful. I definitely recommend following their Instagram page if you wanted to purchase over the phone! It was super easy and if anything definitely ask for Janessa if you need any help! She was great!

Uptown is my go to. The staff is always friendly, the items they buy in to sell are 🔥and reasonably priced product that is in basically new condition. Easily my favorite place to shop, Platos Closet could NEVER

First and last time here. I recommend only buying from here and not selling to them. They prefer items with tags but will give you just a few bucks for those high tag items. I stayed in store waiting for my buy to be done and bought some stuff just to find out later I could have gotten 10% off cause I was selling some items. Would have been nice to know from the start. Ended up paying way more than what I was offered. Disappointed. Plato’s is actually better to sell to.

The smell when you walk in is very inviting and pleasant. Very helpful employees, large womens selection and a small mens section but thats okay since its usually the other way around for other stores. Not a very wide selection for summer clothing so if that what youre looking for it wont be likely youll find it here but if youre looking for fall, spring and winter clothing they have many options to look through. They also have amazing prices and if you have an account with them you get 15% off the whole month of your birthday! I highly recommend this store.

I will never sell anything to them again or take anything in to see about selling. A gently used pair of jeans that cost me between $79-$100 to purchase brand new and they offer $6.00 for them..... outrageous. Seriously the best secondhand store! The clothes are great quality and in great condition. Majority of the items seemed to be either NWT or NWOT. The selection is amazing and the staff are so friendly. I managed to find so many awesome steals! I will definitely be coming back!

Saying that they lowball is a wholly understatement! I took in very nice brand name cowboy boots and was given basically nada.Go to a consignment shop because these folks are rip-off artists to the core.

Went today to sell some clothes; Erin (with the short black hair) assisted my brother and me. She was very friendly when we came in the store and guided us through the process of selling. I was able to make a good amount of money and found a pair of white shorts that I had trouble finding anywhere else as well. Can’t wait to come back to find more cute clothes!

I’m giving this place a 3 star rating bc 1. The staff has gone downhill 2. Not friendly and 3. The selection has gone down and they stopped posting on Instagram stories and if they do post it’s mainly gym clothes. Uptown Cheapskate (Huebner Road) is unbeatable. They have great prices, great store policies, and much more. The store is clean from top to bottom. The customer service is unmatched too. If you get the chance to be helped by Janessa and Alyssa they’ll make sure you find everything you need and make sure you have the best experience. I wish I could give a higher review because a lot of their clothing are actually really cute and relatively affordable, a good variety for working professionals to sort through. However, their sellback system is so flawed I cant give them more than two stars. A couple weeks ago I took some clothes to sell and they claimed that they were looking for more Winter Wear so they didnt buy anything. Understandable. I went back today, December 21st, taking basically new sweaters and boots. The boots were worn maybe once, and today they said that they couldnt take anything because of wear and tear. They definitely live up to their name of cheapskate.

Uptown always keeps up with the latest trends. I usually refer all of my friends for name brand find at a great price. The staff is always friendly and ready to help!

After selling items and buying a few dresses, I went in the following day to return one of the dresses I purchased that was eligible for return because it didn’t fit right. I had spent over their threshold to earn a coupon when I bought the dresses. After returning the dress, the sales associate removed the coupon from my receipt and and told me since I returned an item that I no longer had “spent the right amount” to earn the coupon. Maybe it’s just me, but it came across poorly to “take back” a coupon a customer received.

A truly great place to get fun and trendy close for a good price. Great customer service and fun place to shop. 10/10 would recommend.

Employees were not helpful or nice being it was my first time in the store.

My personal experience was very meh. First off the staff was very rude, felt like I was just in their way and a bother to be there in the first place so that was disappointing. Also I’m a plus size girl so the clothing was very limited. Maybe this place is better for straight sizing but for my personal taste the “plus size” things they had were not trendy or cute.

Best uptown cheapskate location I ever step foot in. Alyssa was great help from the time I stepped in till the time I checked out and left.

AMAZING deals! High quality items, Ive gotten nothing but great things here. I have about 5 pairs of designer pants originally priced above $300 dollars and I havent paid more than $25 for any of them. Huge selection for BOTH men and women, I absolutely love this place. Excellent friendly service too! The staff are more knowledgeable about the selection than almost any thrift shop Ive ever been too. I love love love this place. Great customer service! The manager even helped with my toddler and entertain her as I shopped, the rest of the girls were so sweet just an overall GREAT experience! Not to mention the great selection of clothes, shoes, accessories etc. Ive also sold here before, and the turnover time was nothing like other resale shops. Will definitely be back as a regular customer!

They currently have their return policy set to 30 days instead of the usual 7 or 14 days due to their coronavirus policy and its still a great place to shop at for affordable on-the-go clothing items, despite the lack of fitting rooms available to customers.

This is, hands down, my go to store for all of my clothes shopping! My teenagers also love it! We get incredible deals on name brand and designer clothing at amazing prices! I always find tons of designer clothing with tags still on them. We have purchased clothes from wedding to festival attire, they have it all. The inventory is not at all overwhelming like most other stores because their buyer are really great with stocking the store with the best items. I have also sold with them and have always been more than happy with the amount offered. Lastly the staff is the best. I have never walked in without being greeted and they never let me walk around with my hands full!

Boo....sorry not a fan.Found an authentic runway scar from goodwill down the road for $3 came here to see them trying to sell scarves from forever21 for $6-$8....Really?....plus they give almost nothing for your items when you sell......no thanks. Selling on Poshmark or eBay definitely way better when money needed....

If you’re looking for nice clothes for a GREAT price, this is the place to check out! I have found some amazing items at this location! They also buy your used clothes too! The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because I feel like it all depends on the individual buying your clothes and if they think it’s “stylish” enough to buy or not.

Really great thrift store with beautiful items at a good price. Everything is super cute.My only complaint is that the staff was rude and not helpful. The girls working here just stayed stocking or doing stuff behind the register and made me feel super weird for asking questions about the stores set up. My sister and I kept getting weird looks from them the whole time.I recommend going for the deals, just don’t expect good service or to get your questions answered here!

Back to my first review on yesterday. There was no shoplifting going on yet. It must of happened afterwards or there would have been police officers there and not 4 sales girls upfront at the desk. So NO. Just bad customer service. Just like I said. Even you cant apologize and just say I am sorry you had a bad experience.Wow! First and last time there.

I hate to do this, but I feel compelled to give them a negative review. For starters, I have always been impressed by the quality of their clothing compared to mainstream alternatives. So, I was interested when I got first one text message advertising 60% off of marked items, and then a 2nd text a few days later advertising 70% off of marked items, I had to go down and check it out.After driving several miles to the store, I was hugely disappointed to find not a single item on sale in the mens section. Not to say that there werent any at all, just that I couldnt find one. Understanding that 75% of the store is catering to women, this still categorizes as sex discrimination in their business practice, though probably unintentional.The text should have said that the sale applied only to womens clothing.I will not be lured in by their next text advertisement.

I absolutely love Uptown on Huebner! They offer tons of trendy threads in all different styles and sizes. The atmosphere is very welcoming, they just updated their dressing room with wall art and it has a very chic vibe! One of my favorite thrift stores in San Antonio.

Another bad experience at this place. It’s not the selection, it’s not the prices (though they are a little high on many things imo); it’s the snotty girls who work there. Bought four bulky items and wasn’t offered a bag, so I asked for one. (Reducing carbon footprint is great, but when someone purchases an amount that may be difficult to carry, offering a bag is a good idea, which seems like common sense to me.) Had my purse, purchased items, and keys in hand, yet she just shoved the bag at me and called the next person in line. So I had to vacate the counter and had nowhere to put anything down or rearrange what I was holding in order to bag the items myself. Luckily one of the girls wasn’t a total snot and when we made eye contact, I asked if she could help and she did.Management, if you care: The rude one was wearing a short (barely hit her waist) embroidered sweater and a skirt. She has long, dark hair and is extremely thin. The nice, helpful one has dark blonde hair, was wearing very little makeup, and is average size. This occurred 11/15/19 @ 1:33 p.m. (FYI, I avoid shopping at your stores as much as possible due to the rudeness of so many of your employees.)

Id give them 10 stars if I could. Texas has a shortage of excellent thrift stores. Items here are always in good condition and usually a great deal, though now and then employees forget they work at a thrift store and not Nordstrom and try pricing things way higher than they should be. Not a lot for mens clothing but tons of womens. None for children. No furniture or anything. All in all a good store though. Employees are friendly and helpful. I always have a hard time not blowing a paycheck here. The only thing that stops me is rent. So if youre thinking about visiting this one, stop thinking and go visit it.

I went by this morning and happened to walk in before they had opened and the girls were so sweet and kind and still helped me without attitude or anything. I’ve worked retail and it’s RARE for salespeople to be willing to help before they have to. I left feeling so happy with my whole experience. I will be back soon for sure.

My experience at the Huebner Oaks location was pleasant and easy! They reviewed the items in less than an hour while I shopped around. I was able to find a good amount of items and took the trade option. Everyone was very friendly!

I was given a coupon to give to someone who has never shopped there before so they can save 20%. I gave it to my husband when leaving the store. We went back and he decided to buy a shirt. The cashier decline the use of the coupon because it was only for a new client, even though he was using his own money and had never purchased anything before. The coupon does NOT mention you cannot share with a member of your house. It only says for first time customer only.

I brought in what they were asking for since winter is around the corner jackets, long sleeve flannels, sweaters all new all name brand but they didnt take any. I wouldve taken 5 bucks for a 200$ jacket and a buck for shirts that were 60$ bucks just to make a little cas they would made have as well. No biggie, they lady that waited on me was super nice and very friendly. Ill go back.

Staff is nice and I can always find cute clothes. Ive purchased several dresses and skirts here. I found a hole in one item I wanted and the manager gave me a pretty decent discount!As for selling, Ive brought clothes in a few times. Their payment prices are reasonable. Dont go in expecting to profit--thats not how clothing resale works. They can only purchase what they believe will sell, and shoppers are very picky.

This place is horrible. Bad service not only that but they didnt have any bags for the items that you brought. There were 4 girls working at the desk and only one at the register. You would think they would open the other register since the girl was having a hard time and and asking so many questions on how to do discounts and other things. So the other customers wouldnt wait forever. But mo. And there wasnt anybody at the store.

Clothes tend to be pretty basic. one thing i don’t like is how they have a section of clothes they bought new wholesale really low quality materials too usually and for a resale shop i like the idea of reusing fashion since fashion is one of the most wasteful industry and to see that makes me think this company doesn’t actually care about that like they say they do and they only care about profits.edit: only left this review because i heard about a promotion that if you leave a review you get $5 per site (yelp, google, and facebook-$15 total) so i did that but when i showed it to them they said they won’t give the discount because i gave my honest opinion and it wasn’t a positive review! (wasn’t even that bad it bad it was 3 stars i just edited to 1 because of this) another shady business practice bribing customers for positive reviews.

Overall experience was great. Yesterday afternoon, I was helped out as soon as I walked in to sell my clothes and they were fast to look over everything and give me an offer. The two associates who helped me out were very friendly. However, I do have to make a comment about the employees there. There was one girl who was kissing her boy friend while on the clock while guests were shopping, including myself. There were a bunch of associates behind the registers just on their phones. I know that theyre a bunch of high school kids and maybe even college kids, but please be a little more professional than that. The texting didnt bother me as much as the girl kissing her boy friend, but you never know who will walk in through those doors.

Id always passed by this place when I was going to the bookstore and often wondered what they had inside but never actually went in. After constantly wondering what was inside I decided to take a chance and my gf and I went in...definitely not disappointed. I didnt have any intentions of buying anything but once I tried these pants on I fell in love with them. Needless to say Im very happy with my $8 dollar purchase and will be coming back for sure. Theyre very similar to Platos Closet except I would say much higher end.

Its safe to say that I was disappointed with my most recent visit at Uptown Cheapskate. In the past I would be greeted by the staff the moment I walked into the door. In my most recent visit the staff was very shut off and avoided eye contact with me, making the shopping experience uncomfortable.Ive always been attracted by the organization of the store. WhenI walked in, there were clothes on the floor, clothes hung up in places where they shouldnt, very unorganized. I would normally prefer shopping at Uptown over Platos due to cleanliness and organization but now I feel that they are of equals. I feel as if Im walking into a garage sale.But this is where I was most disappointed. As usual, I was not disappointed by the price of the clothing, I agree that they are fair prices. I bought two items of clothing (without trying them on) and when I took them home to try them on, they smelt AWFUL. The clothes reeked of the previous owners body oder!!! I was disgusted that these items where even put out to sell to begin with. Not just one of the items I bought, but two smelt awful!! So disappointed.

Walked in with the intention to explore and not really buy. I ended up being helped by an awesome fashion consultant and found a lot of MK pieces with original tags for almost 80% less than original price. I LOVED it!

San Pedro location not very good. Not good customer service at all. The older gentleman is very good but the other employees not helpful at all very disappointed. Tony is very nice and helpful and respectful but was not happy today when left store it’s very different when he’s not at store.

Loved their selection and customer service is Amazing! They were not only attentive but since I often go in by myself they are always willing to give me their honest opinion. Ana was wonderful at helping me! Their selection was in both sizes in variety was awesome, and they always notice when I am carrying too much and get a room started right away. The only thing I was a lil disappointed by was the selling to them. With more than 15 pairs of jeans including Levi’s very few were taken and I didn’t wear them often enough to been really worn in. They were sizes 16/18 so I don’t know if that played a factor, but in the end it was still worth it. Will continue to go back in the end it was well worth it.

Ive already taken two friends to join me on my monthly Uptown shopping sprees and they both love it as much as I do! The selection of clothes always changes and theyre priced well. Its addicting.
