This place is impressive! I know how important it is to make the customer happy and be upfront, from start to finish they explained the diagnostics and called me for updates. All mechanics are ASE certified, and without a doubt I felt more than comfortable with the office and the professionalism. This place is top notch and I won’t hesitate to recommend or use them for all of my automotive needs in the future. Mechanics have a bad rep, but his place will change your state of mind on that if your have concerns. Thanks again!! Job well done!!! Thanks for taking care of my truck and getting her back on the road so quick !

Absolutely wonderful customer service. I had previously taken my Expedition to the dealership and had a terrible experience and my AC still didn’t work after. Thousand Oaks got me in very quickly for an appointment, kept me updated throughout the day on the status of my car, explained to me what was happening and why and what the solution was. They took care of checking with the warranty company to see if the repair was covered and even found parts cheaper than the original quote. I will be returning for any other car repair needed. Highly recommend.

I recently took my vehicle in for AC repairs and some electrical issues that needed fixing. The team at Thousand Oaks was very polite, knowledgeable, and kept me updated on the status of repairs. The cost of all repairs ended up being under the originally estimated cost, and charges were very reasonable! My vehicle works great, was done on time, and the staff are very friendly! They also changed my cars oil at no charge because they saw my vehicle was due for an oil change. I also received a follow up call from their office a few days after picking up my car, because they wanted to make sure all was good with the repairs. Amazing service and great quality work for a reasonable price! I will be coming back for any future repairs or service needs for sure! Thank you!!

My experience here wasnt so nice. This shop was recommended through AAA. I needed a diagnosis. I was told it would be like $80-$90. So I picked this place. Everywhere else charged about $140. I got a call early morning like maybe 7:30am. I was halfway asleep, I was told they put in fluids in my car, used a test battery and then I will be told the diagnosis. I spoke to Paul, he said that usually costs about $200. I said oh ok well thank you thinking I was still getting charged under $100. I was too out of it to talk and I wasnt asked if I wanted that done, apparently they had already done it. I figured that was part of the diagnosis deal. I called back later when I was awake and Paul said I already told you! I found it very hard to talk to them afterwards. I just wanted my car back after that. When they finished the diagnosis, I was told it was going to cost me $582.97. I tried to ask why and if I could have an itemized bill. Paul then told me they have trouble sending emails. He seemed very frustrated with me. They were able to reduce the price to $322.35 but it didnt make sense to me and it felt sketchy. I paid them even though they didnt honor the original quote, I wouldnt have mind paying for a price closer to the quoted price. They said Paul was the one in charge when I had asked to speak to a manager. I figured maybe the manager could better explain this to me. That didnt help. When I received my Jeep back, they had left my left window halfway down and my car wouldnt turn on, so I wasnt able to roll it up. It rained that day so I have a plastic bag covering my window to this day and I live in an apartment complex, I dont want my window left down around strangers. I would not recommend going here, unless this is normal when getting a diagnosis.Update: I never gave an authorization, just to be clear. I think a huge misunderstanding did take place. I was under the impression that all that was included with the diagnosis, I did not know I had to pay for your equipment and supplies to do the diagnosis. I thought I just had to bring in my car and pay for just a diagnosis. And I did want work done but I was told you guys dont do engines and I was recommended elsewhere. Also, Im not so frustrated that my car needs a new engine, seeing how I was willing to bring it in and fix it. I was just frustrated with the attitude I did receive after asking for clarification on the diagnosis, the fact that the original quote wasnt close to what I was told before bringing it in, and the fact that my vehicle was returned to me with my window down as if it was out of spite.

Our neighbor is actually one of the mechanics over at this shop and so when we had trouble with our Lincoln, we decided to look them up. They have great reviews on Google so we took in our car at 7am. After a few hours I got a call with an update on the issues they found and how much it would cost. By 3pm it was ready and the end total was a little less than quoted! This is a business that knows how to take care of their customers! We will be back!

Long story short. I run a mattress store on Thousand Oaks Drive and sold one of the employees from Thousand Oaks Automotive. He told me what a great place to work and do business. He said they are the real deal. I decided to take my truck there for a rear brake issue including an emergency brake issue. After inspecting, they quoted a price and I said go ahead. Today I get a call that work is complete and the ending price was several hundred dollars less than the quote. When I asked why, they said when they got into it they determined that some parts and issues did not need to be fixed. They could have easily taken advantage of their original quote and my prior agreement. I am impressed and love doing business with a local entity.I appreciate their honesty. I will be back and will be recommending to all of my friends, family and neighbors. Plus they are completely professional and the place seems to be clean as a whistle. Thanks Thousand Oaks Automotive!

So I did some online research and found that the problem they reported was a typical problem for my vehicle due to a manufacturer defect (which they told me) and their price was in the middle to the average team he of cost. Military discount up to $50. I am happy to have found a trustworthy mechanic that I will return to for automotive repair.

Ive owned my 2008 Chevy Trailblazer since 2009. TOA has been the only shop that has worked on it (with the exception of myself for basic maintenance). I had recently taken my truck in to find the transmission was going out and the radiator was clogged with debris. After spending well over $4100 for parts and labor. I left the shop and drove it for 2 days and found I had to return it due to a mismounted fan shroud and noticeable leak in my new radiator as well as a piece that had broken due to possible mishandling of an ageing part during disassembly. I gave them the opportunity to make things right and David, Paul, Leo,, and all the technicians involved did so. They replaced the leaking radiator cap, remounted the fan shroud correctly and are replacing the broken part at no additional cost to me. These guys stand by their work and are willing to work to make the customer satisfied. I am grateful for their honesty and pride in their work. Thanks guys!

I would refer Thousand Oaks Automotive to anyone in the San Antonio area having automotive issues. When one of our vans wouldnt start, and a jump didnt work, we called Thousand Oaks Automotive. As an emergency service provider in our own industry, it is refreshing to find another company that understands that time is of the essence. They handled the tow, which alleviates a huge part of the stress, as well as got back to us that same day with a diagnosis. Admittedly, there were no actual repairs to be made, just the reconnecting of the spark plug... we may have been pranked. Either way, they didnt charge us for their time or efforts, even if they were minimal, which almost any other shop would have. We only had to pay for the tow, which was at a discounted rate because we went through the shop. Since then, we have made Thousand Oaks Automotive our first choice for vehicle repairs and diagnosis. Everyone Ive spoken with from dispatcher to mechanic, has been nothing but kind, straight forward, and quick to get things done. With a commercial fleet of vehicles, we couldnt ask for more from an auto shop!

Absolutely the biggest crooks around. Had a fuel pump replaced there, which they drastically overcharged for, and 6 months later it goes out again. Bring it in to be replaced under warranty, and they cleared the codes, said I did it, and tried to say it was the mass airflow sensor. Exact same symptoms as before, but now its the mass airflow sensor, which theyd be happy to diagnose for 140.00, and then replace for 400.00. Asked them what the pressure on fuel pump was and they hadnt checked it. They are crooks and liars who refuse to stand behind their work.

Had a glitch with a power window on a Toyota. The window went up and down fine but as it approached the top it would go off kinda crooked and the window would not close completely. Left it at Thousand Oaks Auto because I work close by. Hadnt been in there in probably 15 years. They called and said I needed a new motor and (of course), a regulator - they work together. Total cost - $424. I told them no - the motor seems to work fine. Had to pay $50 diagnostic charge (what a joke and a rip-off). Took the car to Yangs instead. He took the door panel off and found a part within the track slightly bent - fixed it and now it works fine. Paid $156. Im convinced that Thousand Oaks never even took the door panel off to check what the problem was. Now I remember why I hadnt been there for 15 years.

First thing I’d like to say is if you’re going to read a review please read this one you’ll be glad you did. It’s a little long winded but well worth the read.I’m your typical backyard mechanic who believes in diY.So here’s the story. My son is driving along in my 2010 F-150 truck and hears a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment. Once he gets home he finds a wobbling pulley which maintains the guidance of a serpentine belt. He’s got to get to work right away so my daughter and I break out the toolbox. We get to work removing components that are in the way and start repairing the problem. So we put everything back together with the help of my younger brother at the end.We then turn the key and get a no crank no start engine. I don’t see where we went wrong. I’m thinking fuses or electrical short. Long story short. I throw in the towel. There are a lot of big name shops but a few shops pop in mind and others recommended from friends and family. After pondering it for a grueling couple of days and a few phone calls I narrowed it down to one automotive shop that stood out the most. One that I’ve used in the past, one that I could trust and get the job done right with fair pricing and stands by their work and honest words, one that listen and tried to help me come up with ideas where I could possibly look for the problem before I threw in the towel. No pressure, and No familiar phrases like just bring it in with a repeating of the same phrase.I called Thousand Oaks Automotive and after explaining my personal situation to Hunter we talked about electrical problems and an amount it would cost me for a diagnosis which was a reasonable fee to run the diagnostics if need be and considering I did not know what was going on with my vehicle it might need to be done. Hunter said to me “Call me when you’re ready we will find the problem and be as affordable as we can”.Next morning I picked up the phone and called Hunter and told him my truck was being towed there.A few hours later I received a phone call from Hunter with good and bad news. It turns out my brother because it was such a hot day and he was tired from a long day at work he happen to leave off a nut while replacing the wires on the starter. Also thinking I was taking a protective measure by applying electrical tape to the wire harness the tape actually caused a separation between pin electrical contacts for the alternator. Go figure, who are the real nuts. LoL. That’s the bad news.Good news is because of their expertise and professionalism they gave it a good once over on the work we had performed, found the problem and fixed it without having to run through a full diagnostics. Now there are good shops and their some not so good shops. Any other shop may not have even found the problem and probably would’ve ran up the bill and called it whatever they wanted. I’ll never know because I chose to take it to TOA.Thousand Oaks Automotive with an honest professional automotive staff. Their Mechanics know what they are really doing. Hunter gives me the final cost of my bill....drum roll please... $39.95. WoW talk about honesty these guys are truly that!A Big Thank You to Hunter and Eddie and the rest of the staff from this backyard mechanic, “Who’s brother got thrown under the bus”, LOL. Sorry it was too long but my experience with this place that stands above all others had to be mentioned. TOA hope you all liked the doughnuts. My most recent problem was a shimmy when driving, I thought a motor mount had broken, nope, the insides of my tires were coming apart, outside they looked fine. Dont be fooled by all the fake 5 stars ratings for this place. That would imply that they are perfect. Everyone I know that has heard of this place has had horrible outcomes from going here. Yes they are courteous but this place specializes in ripping people off and not telling you what you need to know. Definitely would not recommend this place for inspections (or anything else for that matter) as they look for any and all, add on repairs to make money on. My husband had taken his car there for a simple $7 state inspection, and ended up leaving with a dead battery later down the road due to a mysterious new issue with the radiator fan not turning off, which led to a costly $600 repair bill. There were no issues with this part prior going to their mechanic shop that day. The worse part is that we trusted these guys after just having spent hundreds of dollars there in the past on something else. My advice would be to watch these guys in action if they inspect your vehicle. Never get in your car after they are done servicing with the engine still running, as this place may have done something to it, etc.

First time at Thousand Oaks Automotive, staff (Leo) was very professional, recognized issue I was having with my car. Scheduled an appointment the next morning, issue was taken care of very promptly and without any surprises.

Terrible. I went in for a state inspection and was failed for dirty headlights and a saturated power steering lines.Good news though. They can clean my headlights for only $130. This is completely fraudulent and terrible. To try and bait customers and hold their state inspection for ransom because they want to up sell a (ridiculously priced) headlight cleaning is so beyond un-ethical it is saddening. As for the power steering lines. I asked for the TX vehicle inspection code and it states that leaks will fail a vehicle (not saturation) I questioned the manager and presto, my saturated lines were now magically leaking.I asked for the manager to show me this leak and I was shown some dirt and grime that was near the power steering pump (far from a leak I assure you and the vehicle has close to 200k miles on it, dirt and grime is normal under the hood) and was told that they could replace the lines (I am assuming for another ridiculous price) but they were not going to pass the vehicle if I did have the work done.As a former state inspector I highly recommend that anyone wanting to be treated fairly and ethically take their vehicles and business to another shop.Their interpretation of the TX vehicle inspection code is to their own benefit and to force customers to purchase services they do not need.EDIT: Vehicle was inspected and was passed that same afternoon by another (ethical) inspection station.

Thousand Oaks Automotive (TOA) just finished a bunch of work on my truck. After doing an inspection of my truck, identifying the issues, they presented me with options available to me to get my truck fixed. They did the work timely as well. Their employees are top notch and very responsive. I have used TOA several times and I am convinced that they stand by their work and are honest mechanics. I highly recommend TOA for any automotive repair needs.

We have been taking our vehicles to Thousand Oaks Automotive for a number of years now. Even though we moved to New Braunfels 4 years ago, we continue to take our vehicles there because we trust/value their work. Recently, we had an issue with our 2008 Yukon (has 140K+ miles on it). David at TOA took the time to help us understand what was needed and got the Yukon back on the road again for a very reasonable price. We appreciate the work you have done for us over the years and will continue to use Thousand Oaks for future repairs.

If you want good, honest, knowledgeable mechanics working on your car, go here! Though they are not cheap, by any means, I truly believe that you get what you pay for when it comes to mechanic shops. I had a transmission replaced in three days. I was called promptly with a quote, I was told honestly what was wrong, and I was called as soon as they finished. I am a single female that has been in a couple times to the shop, and they never treated me as a dumb girl. What other shop will take you to the back to show you exactly what is going on while your car is on the lift?? Good people, I highly recommend them and I will be back myself, though hopefully not any time soon...

I had tried to get my vehicle in at two other places before i took it thousandoaks automotive, both the others were 5 star rated, the first one told me too drop it off sometime next week and they might get around too looking at it, the other one had a communication issue, my spanish wasnt good enough and his english wasnt either, called these folks and had an appointment real quick, and they were friendly, when i got there i liked seeing the grey hair, nothing inspires a lack of confidence as seeing alot of twenty somethings that know everything, these guys are friendly, knowledgeable and i would even go so far as too say i would trust them enough too send my wife alone without them blowing smoke blinker fluid or trying too bilk her, good folks

If I could give less than 1 star I would have. Where to begin. So I took my truck in for them to pull a vac and recharge my AC system after all of the parts were replaced. They told me I had a bad compressor, right out of the box. Ok sure, I sent it back and got a new one. Mind you, this was an open system at this point, no coolant to recover. So I took it back, this time with the new compressor and asked if they could just slap the new one on, no problem they said. Its literally 4 bolts. Didnt explain anything to me warranty wise. So I go to pick it up later, I had a whopping $700 bill. I did have some other work but about $300 of it was for the AC work, which was only supposed to be about $70 if I remember right to vac and recharge. The reason I took it there to begin with. They never told me that it was going to cost anything to put it in or I would have done it right there in the parking lot and saved $200! Anyways, they stated that they pulled a vac and there were no leaks. Fine. However I noticed that it wasnt as cool as I thought it would be but didnt use the truck all that much until recently and now that its hot, it wasnt cooling much at all and now they want to charge me to fix what they should have done to begin with because theres no warranty on ANYTHING, since I provided the part. I also paid quite a bit for an alignment which they never really did. It still pulls pretty bad and they said I needed another part for that which would be another $300. They are dishonest, scamming and their customer service is terrible. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know to stay away. Horrible, horrible place.

Brought my truck here to replace the steering column. After I picked it up all of a sudden my transmission was slipping. I brought back to them 4 different times, each time I got it back it became worse. I tried driving it across town and I blew something out and I was leaking transmission fluid. They claim no responsibility for that happening. They also have no clue why my transmission would be slipping after they work on it. They charged me for work with out my consent. I will never bring anything of mine here again, nor will I ever refer some one here.

This company is truely about customer satisfaction and not about clearing out your wallet. I trust these guys with my car everytime!

They know you have the choice to either have your vehicle towed to another shop or leave it there and pay their premium prices. In hindsight, I should have towed my car to another garage. I wont be going back to them ever again.
