Weve shopped at this comic book store since we moved to this area, and weve spent more money then Id care to admit here. However, we wont shop here ever again. The sales woman was exceptionally rude upon checkout. I could tell she was in a bad mood as she rung me out then when she rung out my husband she yelled at us for our daughter looking at one of the comic book books. She yelled at us that were not allowed to read the books, to which I informed her she cant read. So she said kids damage comics. I was watching her, she was being VERY respectful to the book and holding it to be sure it didnt crease. Shes looked every time weve been in too.Ive also bought an entire manga series from here with creased spines and yellowed pages for full price.

Best comic shop in Utah. Ive been to shops from St. George, all the way up the state- this place rocks. Prices are good. Nice location. The dude at the register is rad. There is a big stash of comics here and a great variety of them! Nothing but good things to say about Black Cat.

Amazing store!!! The staff is always so helpful and the selection is incredible. In a time where a lot of things are over-priced, its refreshing to see a store not taking advantage of their customers with high prices.

Black Cat Comics is a great, friendly, local comic shop in SLC. They have a ton of back issues, a decent selection of graphic novels, and have a great kids section for younger readers. My young daughter has options to read there as well, which often is not an option. They have also helped me find several excellent comics to fit my interests. It really is one of the best comic shops I have been to.

Not impressed. There’s great selection. Boxes and boxes you can go through. It’s just not an attractive store. It’s comic books! You’ve got so much great art, throw some up on the walls. Make the environment less bland.

The customer service here is astounding. Brand new to the world of comics, these folks have been AMAZING in their recommendations. I came here to get every cover of the 3 joker comics. Left with a stack of Superman and James Bond comics.

Always been too intimidated to check out a comic books store, but was so happy I stopped in here! I echo all the other reviewers in saying how awesome Greg is. He was super helpful in getting me started with a stack of Spiderman comics, and Im so excited to come back soon!

Black Cat is where its at. Comics by the stacks, wall books, graphic novels, anime, things they dont display! They have all that!

I love coming in, collecting my Venom and Spider-Man comics, and discovering comics, that I didnt even know I would have wanted.The staff are very easy to get lost into comic and movie lore talks with, theyre very chill, and even can be fun to talk with.If you need a place that will set you up with some great comics, THIS is the place dudes!And let it be on record that Venom is the greatest anti-hero of Marvel (or even any comic history).

Great customer service, the owner was awesome. They were remodeling to make it bigger, which is awesome. The person ringing us up dudnt put gloves in as they were reaching in to take the pieces of paper out. So they got their oil on the comic books.

The BEST comic shop Ive been to. TONS of back issues and they seem to be restocked frequently. Youll never feel unwelcome at this shop, if youre new to the seen like me dont feel shy about asking questions, they will take care of you. They just remodeled and its going to be even cooler. Rad. They have comics and some manga too. The owner guys is funny and super personable. The stock is dope. You could spend way too long in here going through it all its really fun.

If youre a local geek like I am, and youre looking to get your comic fix, Black Cat Comics is the place to go. Not only do they have a HUGE selection of current and back orders, but the shop is easy to navigate, its clean and well lit, and theyre excellent at managing your pull list. I try to visit Black Cat every couple weeks and the manager could not be more polite when I walk in the door -- he does his best to remember your name, he takes care of your pull list, and hes genuinely passionate about the industry. For some added context, I used to shop at Dr. Volts, but their staff was overbearing (Can I help you? Can I help you now? How about now?), their comic wall is horribly organized, and their inventory is mixed with gaming. Black Cat Comics is a true comic book shop and Im so happy I found it.

Its been a while since I was their have not been in the area since and live a good distance away but if I ever am I will make sure to stop in the woman who helped me was very knowledgeable and patient with me I dont know anything about comics but she helped me select a couple then even went the extra mile and wrote me a list of ones to try in the future thanks.

I was initially brought here because I was told that they had a good manga collection. Maybe thats by the standards of Salt Lake Citys independent comics or Utah in general, but I wasnt impressed. Doesnt necessarily matter, after all. If youve found Black Cat you probably found Barnes and Noble. They do have a small selection of some of the most popular manga, and a box of discount manga you may find a treasure or two in, but its not what they specialize in.Black Cat shines in a few departments. They have one of the largest selections of back issues Ive seen in the mountain west, and if you enjoy them then they have regular sales on top of the fact that all back issues are 10% off. Off of what? Im not sure, I dont really read or buy single issues so I only thumbed through them, Im afraid. You can stop reading here if youre outraged.More important to me is that they had a wall of trades (graphic novels, if you insist) ranging from the popular to the obscure. Every time Ive stepped in Ive seen something that Ive wanted or never seen before or only heard of, an experience that I greatly prefer to just browsing online or using an algorithm. Sales here seem to be fairly regular, and they also have a selection of discount boxes well worth thumbing through.Their selection of the latest monthlies seemed up to date, with the proviso that I dont read monthlies. But if you dont see it, you can always ask. They seem to have the ability to order most comics and trades published within the last few decades if they dont have them on hand. I recommend doing so. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and ordering a comic gives you an opportunity to step in and explore.One of the more convenient comic book stores in the valley, its just in the center of the Sugarhouse district and open on Sunday which I feel justifies a whole star on its own.Support your local comic book store.

Black Cat Comics is my preferred comic store in the Salt Lake area. Having recently moved from Los Angeles, Ive been to a few others but ultimately Black Cat had what I needed. Theyve got a great comic wall to browse, and an extensive back-issue library. Even better, their pull subscription is well managed and they do an excellent job grabbing what I need as it hits the shelves.

Greg and Taylor are always friendly and greet you with a smile. The entire staff is great and very personable. This is the best store ever. They are the kindest and best people I have ever met. Greg and Taylor specifically have opened my eyes to how wonderful collecting comic books can be. I use to be just a digital reader and finally went out to buy a hard copy when absolute carnage first released. They helped me find basically every variant the series made and even more after that they put in the time and effort into helping me track down the other series Im interested in. The amount of love they put into this store is tremendous and every time I go into the store I always get to have a wonderful conversation and a smile put on my face. Best comic book store in Utah!

My partner and I have struggled to find a good comic shop that we felt really cared about us as customers. Once we stepped inside black cat we instantly felt a connection. They genuinely have a love of comics. If they haven’t read a series they at least know how their customers have responded to a title. It’s been a breath of fresh air.

Great place! Really cool find. The owner was super funny and everyone was very helpful. Lots of knowledge on comic books. Had all sorts of genres of comic books. I also loved that they had a discount section with comic books starting at 25¢!!

A while back I wanted to get into comics but was intimidated because I didnt know much, but the people at Black Cat Comics were extremely helpful and helped me dive into comics. Now I come a couple times a month and theyll have personal recommendations which I always love because they care about what their customers are reading. Thanks for doing a great job!

Hello. This is a very nice store for comics. A young lady helped me find comics from my childhood today including the first Fantastic Four comic I ever read and a comic for my granddaughter. I will be coming here from now on for my comics. Old and new comics and it was well organized unlike many comic shops I have been to over the years. I will bring my granddaughter next time. This comic book store is the best! I visited a few in the 8 years I lived in Utah, but Black Cat was where I always came back! The staff is friendly and fantastic, always willing to help people (even like me, who know nothing about comics). Taylor is also super knowledgeable about her stuff and willing to help!

Ive been an on-again-off-again comics reader for most of my life, and Ive been to my fair share of comic shops throughout the valley. Black Cat has been a reliable source of solid recommendations that get me right back to pace with whats new and exciting in the world of comics. Their staff is engaging and friendly, and they even manage to keep an eye out for new titles that appeal to my particular tastes, even though Im not coming in every week. To this day, not a single recommend Ive gotten from Greg, Taylor, and the rest of the Black Cat crew has fallen flat.As if that alone wasnt enough, Black Cat supports local comics authors, artists, and publishers. They provide a prominent display of local comics, and host signings for their work. Whether youre a long-time collector or just a budding fan looking to try out something new, Black Cat is there to stoke that passion and give you a few laughs along the way. If you havent been to this fixture of the SLC Comics scene, you are absolutely missing out.

I’ve been coming to this shop for about 3 years now. (Admittedly, a little lame of me to not have left a review earlier, but...) The service is always top notch - incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable and ready to help! While I love DC and Marvel, indies tend to take up most of my time. They have a great selection and make great recommendations for new reads as well! Tell everyone you know! Black Cat or bust.

Best. Comic store. EVER! Greg and co. are fantastic people who work hard to both run a wonderful comics shop and keep the atmosphere laid back and friendly. They treat everyone like theyve been friends for years whether they have been or not. The staff is always quick with a recommendation, and they almost always hit the mark. (I mean theyre human as far as I can tell, so they cant read your mind and recommend the most perfect book EVERY time.) But seriously, check this place out of its your first time, or come back in if its been a while.

When you first walk into the building you are greeted with a smile and a warm welcome from either the owner Greg, or his employees. They always ask if they can help in anyway and let you know that they are always willing to help. They are friendly and always recommend great reads. They are honest, even when its not the easy thing to do, and I truly respect that. Their selection of comics will keep you busy for hours, but still easy enough for new people to look for what they want. It is my go to comic book Shop in the salt lake area! Great small but efficient comic store with friendly staff

Massive selection of books ranging from the Marvel and DC mainstays to the hidden indie gems. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable people behind the counter. Virtually every time Im checking out, Im given a number of recommendations by the staff based on what Im buying. Overall, a wonderfully safe place to let your inner nerd out.

A true comic book store. It has a great selection of current comics and a large library of back issue comics. The graphic novel selection is great. They also have a small selection of comic related merchandise. Greg and his staff are friendly and helpful if you are looking something particular.

Im a former comic shop manager, and love to visit shops whenever I travel. Black Cats in Salt Lake caught my eye when I visited the city last year and vowed is return again. Recently, I revisited and fell in love with the shop. Staff was beyond fun and friendly, but not overbearing. They even dug through boxes of overflow to find one specific comic for me. If I lived anywhere in the Valley, I would open a subscription with them. This store is among the best Ive ever visited in my travels around the country.

I havent been into comics for more than a few years, but I legitimately can thank (or ... blame?) Greg and Taylor at Black Cat for it. I can always count on a good conversation while Im there, and its usually about something completely off the wall. They know the types of comics I tend to enjoy, and they share their opinions readily. It certainly helps that the selection is best in class, but thats not why I go. Theyre just the best.

All my favorites and great recommendations.They are consistently in stock of my many favorite monthly editions. Because they know what I like they are pretty good about peaking my interest in new books. Quite a few of their recommendations have become favorites that I probably would have skipped over.Im so glad I switched from the previous shop I used to Black Cat. I came into this shop completely uninitiated. I had never read a single comic before, but wanted to check out a series that followed up on a favorite TV show. I thought that the true-comic-fans who worked at a comic shop would roll their eyes at me and want to get rid of me as soon as possible. Instead, I found the most helpful staff on the planet, stayed twice as long as I planned, and found some amazing books.Taylor is incredible! She made me feel welcome and helped me find everything I needed (and then some)! I cant wait to go back again. I think Im hooked.

Came here as someone completely new to comics and wanted to check out what all the fuss was about. Super friendly staff gave me multiple recommendations to choose from. Their back issue catalog takes up almost the entire space with all of the new comics around the edge of the store. I have a feeling like I’ll be able to keep coming here for years and always find something new.

Rad comic shop!

Best comic shop in Utah. I have been to multiple comic shop in Utah, Salt Lake and Davis county. I come down from Ogden to buy my comics here becaise I like it so much more than other places. They have friendly service and a massive amount of back issues to choose from. Super easy to find the comic you need because they first alphabetize them, second they put them in order by volume and then third they numerically put the comics in order, unlike a lot of other places that mix everything together and you can spend a lot of time looking.

Just moved to Salt Lake from New York and needed my geek fix! This store is great and has tons of great books for 25 cents and many for a buck. The staff is awesome and friendly and knows their stuff! I cant wait for their half off sale they told me about! I must return and meet this awesome owner I hear about. He may just be a myth, or perhaps Deadpool on his day off? Dunno...... ;)
