I only wish I had found Golden Gears Automotive sooner. At the recommendation of my aunt and uncle, I came here just today because my check oil light came on. Even though I showed up without an appointment, Sam was so attentive and kind. He let me know his honest thoughts and took care of me. Super genuine and down-to-earth guy. I am so grateful and I will definitely be coming back here the next time my car needs servicing.

Golden Gears automotive serviced three of my vehicles prior to retiring in 2017. Since I no longer worked in the area, I used an automotive repair shop closer to home. However, the level of care and expertise wasnt of the same high standards as Golden Gears. Recently had a problem that the mechanic I was using was unable to properly diagnose and repair after numerous attempts. After growing weary, I made an appointment with Golden Gears knowing that Sam and his mechanics would get to the cause of the cars problem -- and they did. Sam explained the issue to me and gave me a very fair price to repair it. Although its a ride around the beltway, Ill gladly be taking it from now on. I have always felt that Sam did what was best for the car and was not just out to make a fast dollar. Sam and his team have been taking care of our cars for close to 20 years. They are very competent and trustworthy. So much so that Sam has likely talked me out of more work to be done on my cars than he has done.You know the drill, take your car to a dealer for a monthly special on an oil change and they come back with...” you need new breaks, a carburetor flush and a $150 cabin filter.” I then take the car to Sam and he tells me the truth.Do yourself (and your cars) a favor. Use Sam and Golden Gears for all of your car needs.They have worked on my Volvo, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai and 1965 Ford Mustang. If it has 4 wheels, they can keep it running like new.

I was originally referred to Golden Gears and used them exclusively for about 9 years. The front office is impeccably clean, and comfortable. It shows a level of care you can trust. Scheduling is good and they work with you if you need something quick. Owner Sam has deep automotive knowledge and is generous “educating” why and what - and it shows in his happy smile. I was sad when it was time to retire my car; I bought a pre-owned certified vehicle that was still under warranty. I will continue referring Golden Gear, and one day return!

They have their act together from scheduling your appointment to getting car worked on and quickly back to you - great communication. Ill never make service appointment at dealership again for car to supposedly get worked on and me to get worked over again.

Professional and thorough service, we always trust the work done at Golden Gears. Sam is always willing to explain in detail whats going on, and why one fix is better than another. He lets you make up your own mind, however! We enjoy the visit too.

I usually choose a garage based on recommendations from friends, but took a chance and went to Golden Gears based on online reviews. The Maryland inspection went well and the price was very reasonable. The owner recommended that the tires be rotated, which I knew needed to be done as I had incorrectly moved the newer tires to the back of the car when I rotated them myself. Based on this experience, I trust this shop and plan to return for maintenance and repairs.

I have a 20+ year-old Honda Accord that failed the MD state emissions test and was in a dire need of repair. They were able to diagnose and identify the possible causes of the problem. The car passed the emissions re-test with flying colors. The shops organization and the staffs knowledge are impressive and a rare find these days. They are reliable and honest with reasonable prices, and they deliver as promised.

Im a small business owner from Virginia, and Im hard to impress.A few months ago, one of my company vehicles was involved in an accident in Montgomery County. There was mechanical damage, and an officer with MCPD recommended Golden Gears. We had the car towed there and paid Sam and his team to do the work. They did well, and that was that. Or so I thought.Two days ago, a bolt in the suspension system (which Golden Gears had repaired) broke. While I suspected that there could be an issue with the work that was done, I had absolutely no way to prove it.My office called Sam and told him the truth: We dont want to point fingers, but it looks like there might have been some kind of issue with the original work. But we also know that we cant prove that and the vehicle has been extensively used since repairs were done.Sams response was nothing short of exceptional. He commented that it was important for him to stand behind his work. He repaired my car *at no charge* the next day. Not only did he do this, but he also paid 1) for the car to be towed from Alexandria to his shop, and 2) our towing bill incurred by FCPDs contractor because the car was blocking a major roadway when the bolt came off.Sam and his team deserve six stars. My customer service experience with Golden Gears was nothing short of exceptional.

A co-worker recommended Golden Gears to me about 10 years ago and I have been coming here since to have first and my current second 4Runner serviced. GG is a little far from my home in Germantown but I gladly made the trip since I always get excellent service, fair pricing and best of all, the owner takes time to explain what is being done to my car in lay terms and how to keep it running well. Very clean shop with plenty of shopping, restaurants and the White Flint Metro within walking distance if case you are waiting on the service.
