I needed a stereo for my wife’s salon and Culture Shock had just what I needed. Not only did I not have to wait a few days for delivery, I was able to ask questions and get knowledgeable answers that didn’t come from an FAQ on a website. I saved money and was able to purchase the right stereo for my needs. I highly recommend.

One of the best little record stores Ive ever walked into. Very current on releases with plenty of VERY pristine vintage stock to browse as well. The genre sorting is terrific with loose subgenres receiving their own little rows, a pleasant treat for those sick of seeing hardcore punk and indie folk under the same broad Rock tag most places use.The merch side of the store is charming as well, littered with random knick knacks and vintage music merch eclectic enough to crowd-please as easily as the music half. Service here is fantastic too. Very patient, very accommodating and open to questions. Genuinely upset that I dont live closer. This is the kind of record store an audiophile should feel honored to have access to.

I had some vinyl albums to sell. Skylar met me at the door and was very courteous and knowledgable. The whole experience was easy. He is a great business owner.

I came here on the last day of their spring cleaning sale which had the whole store 20-25% I believe except for the new records? Im trying to remember. Anyways, when I walked in for the first time that day, I KNEW Im definitely buying from here again! They had two racks of these cute american-made thrifted sweaters and I got two of them! Definitely some outfit ideas there. I love how they are careful about how they choose their items which is an absolute vibe. They also have cute masks on the wall right by the register which I got a flower one. Good quality! Mood ring is also beautiful! My shoulder bag was ethically made too!

This place is such a cool spot! Really fun and hilarious items that you can feel good about buying because a lot items are made with recycled material and ethically made. Definitely coming back to look at the records!

Skyler and Lauren are such great people and their devotion to supporting artists and local artist is amazing. They have a great selection of records and are very knowledgeable about the sound equipment in store. There’s also a fun assortment of novelty items and t-shirts supporting local businesses and bands. Highly recommend.

They have a cool selection of vintage music and music equipment. There were lots of unique gifts available for purchase, I have my eye on a cool flask. Theres also a special Megadeth pic book with matching color print signed by the band!!

A very nice spot. My husband and I are shopping locally to support community business. This would not be a normal store we would frequent, but with grandchildren this was recommended. We were greeted and were met with excellent customer service with recommendations on what to buy. Next time we will check out their record selection.

We walked in to pick up a few records an ask a couple questions about upgrading our system. Walked out with this awesome setup with great sound at half the price we were expecting. Culture Shock is one of my favorite stores in Rockford. I think of it as a local Spencers. Definitely the place to go if you want a fun, eclectic gift. They have a lot of locally made items as well. Owners are always helpful. Id post a picture of what I bought, but they wrapped it all up in a nifty gift bag for free.

Always a great place to go sell your retro equipment. But keep it in good condition. Everyone here is pretty warm and the owner really cool. He came to my grandmas home to help me sell her okay but goodies in music. Pretty honest by the way and locally owned

I love this place! When Im looking for something unique, fun or vintage I head over to talk to Skyler to learn what ideas they have for me when it comes time for gifts! I love the personal relationship you quickly build with their staff and the community that shops there. Plus, they host and partner on a bunch of events that helps our local community. Culture Shock was amazing! I went into the store thinking I would find only records, but I was surprised at all of the other items in the store. There was clothing, gifts, and cheeky items for people of all ages. Also, there was a wide range of records to choose from music of all different genres. It was extremely well organized for a record store, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend you make this record store stop on your list of places to visit in Rockford!

The other half of their store is records and I dont own a record player but because one of the owners took the time to explain to me the merits of vinyl, when I decide to buy a record player, Im getting it from here! Ever since they opened in 2006, Culture Shock has been the go to place for vinyl. They are the most fun, friendly, and well rounded shop in the area. Every trip is an experience and a chance to discover something totally new. Skyler & Lauren love their city and love their customers. The store has lots of nickety nacks for sale and kitsch things. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the equipment. They even knew what a quadraphonic decoder was! Impressed. Have been there a few times and will definitely be going back more.
