I’ve just bought my last load of hardwoods from Vetsch. Over the years they have become increasingly jaded towards regular joe woodworkers. Obviously the more you progress as a furniture maker the more selected you become of your material. Every time I asked to looked through even the top pile of boards I always get some derogatory remark. The brother with the beard is the only one who has any kind of customer service. The other brother and the nephew are a pain to interact with. I’ll probably just go up to the cities. I’ve spent a couple thousand dollars here over the last five years but to them us weekend warriors are a pain to deal with because we don’t but the whole pallet. They are the only game in town for hardwoods and they know that, so that act accordingly. As we were looking through the boards(on the top layer) the nephew walked by and said “that will be $20 more for going through the pile.” I snickered thinking he was telling a joke, then he replied, “I’m serious.” I left two stars because the younger gentleman(who must not have been working there long) who helped me on this particular day was excellent.

Dont waste your money at a big box store. Get personalize assistance and a much higher quality product here . Prices are great, the quality is superb, and you get to talk about wood with some experts while shopping. The kid at Menards wouldnt know the difference between oak and maple without reading the label, why reward the for that? Buy from Vetsch.

Vetsch is the best place in Rochester to get hardwood lumber for your woodworking projects. They are a small family business with a couple of lumber sheds and some milling machines. Bring your gloves, ear muffs and smell the sawdust.
