Been using this garage for some years now probably close to 20. Are they cheap? no, good mechanics are not cheap. They are very good at what they do and just as important honest.

Yup,... Ive found my new Go to garage! Brought my car in for what I thought might be a strut or shock issue, knocking sound whenever I drove over a dip in the road, pot hole, etc. Had a similar issue about a year ago, and took it to a chain garage. Although the ride was only slightly better, I still had the annoying knocking sound. I was originally quoted a huge price for a major repair,..but the desk guy offered a few options that were cheaper - he was actually cool. My main point here is, I dont think the repair was successfully diagnosed, or executed - I still had the noise.I decided to try Merwin, they are close to my house, and convenience was my main reasoning for going here. The staff there are awesome! My car was repaired with professional care and attention to detail. Its a family-owed business, so you really get that family feel within minutes of being there! Super friendly and great service! I totally recommend this place, and will be going back for all my major repair issues. Thanks for the great service!!!

This was my first time using Merwin. I went because I saw they had good reviews. I was told my issue with my car was electrical by a chain repair vendor. Merwin did a complete exam on the issue and found it was just a bulb! They recommended an oil change so I had them do that as well. very nice people, fair pricing and honest. They remind me of the town garage my parents went to in Avon. I felt that I can trust them.

They have been taking care of my family for over 20 years. They may be more expensive than other mechanics but theyre always honest and they do amazing work

If you live in Rochester this is where you need to go. Moved back to the area a year ago and have brought both my vehicles here for everything from routine oil changes to more in depth work. Every time I walk away happy knowing that I got a fair price, quality work, and the guys that work here are top notch as well. Mechanics are a dime a dozen everywhere you go but the gents down at Merwin are a cut above the rest. As long as I live here they are the only place I’ll go and they should be your only stop too.

These are good trustworthy folks. Theyve never tried to push unnecessary repairs on me, they charge fair prices, and have kept my car running smooth since I had them look it over for me before purchasing.

I brought my 2001 Chevy Silverado extended cab in for a transmission fluid leak. They quoted me $300, which was great. Before they got to it, they found a broken gas tank strap and suggested I pay the $125 to fix that and I said go ahead. A week later they said the transmission was more serious and would cost $1200 to fix. The truck was too old for that expense. The bill came to over $500 for the labor. When I balked, they said I could give them the truck and call it even. I had just put $400 in tires on it. Out of principal, I paid the money, limped home and donated the truck. The new tank strap on the junk vehicle just rubs me the wrong way. All I can say is they are slick.

Highly recommend! It’s a small place but the hearts of the people running it are SO big. My mom has came here for years and now it’s my turn. When i call to make an appointment they just know it’s me by my voice which is such a comforting feeling knowing that they care about me and my car. Fully trust them with my car and have never had one issue. Whenever it comes time for service for my car they make it so easy and pain free. Plus the new renovations with the fireplace makes it extra cozy while waiting.

I have been going here for years. Jeff and Ronnie are awesome to work with. They have always gone above and beyond taking care of me and my cars. Prices are compatible but if you think they are a bit higher, pay it. Its worth it. Their customer service is beyond. I cant tell you all the things they have done to help me out. But they are now taking care of my daughters car and if that doesnt say trust. I dont know what does.

Ive always been more than satisfied with Merwin Auto. Its our neighborhood autoshop! Everyone there is friendly, and the work is completed if not that day, within 24 hours. They always call to update on repair status. When I couldnt get my car to them, they came to me! Quickly! My battery was replaced and checked over in less than an hour!

These guys are great! They took my car in right away and kept me updated the entire time the car was in the shop. They were up front and honest about the repairs and did not try to sell me any unnecessary services like some other mechanics have tried to do. My scooter broke down on Winton Road and I pushed it to Merwin. Id never been there before, and I had no idea whether or not they could work on my scooter. They were just the closest place. WOW! I took my car in to Merwins today for the first time. I wasnt really familiar with a local garage so I had been taking my car to the dealership. I had wanted to try Merwins out. They are very close to where I live. They have been in business 60 years ( I heard that from the son). I want to do business locally to help support neighborhood businesses and not big box, so it looks like they have me for a customer! Ill be b---a--a----c----k.. Prices were very fair and they have a nice little cosy fireplace and coffee there If you need to wait for your car. Good luck for another 60 years!

These guys gave me the best Christmas Gift this year. I came in on the Friday leading into the holiday with my car making an awful noise. My car was not able to be driven until fixed and they took the time to get it done in 3hrs before they closed early at 3pm. It was such a blessing to have transportation over the holidays! These guys are like family. I had an electrical problem with my Honda where the car wouldnt start. Battery or something else? One of the guys came over to the house to give the car a quick test. Battery was fine and more like the starter. Now I had to get it towed and dont have tripple A, Ronnie suggested i call my insurance company to see if I have towing in my policy. Low and behold I had towing in my policy. The towing guy came over in about an hour and the rest is history. Merwin fixed my car and provided real value every step of the way. Really how many car guys tell you to check your auto policy?

I started going to Merwin a few years ago when I moved to the neighborhood. I am always anxious trying a new mechanic, but the convenience of the location I had to give it a try. The guys at Merwin are great. They call to tell you what is going on with your car, listen to your concerns and even got in the car with me when I told them I heard a knocking in the rear of my car and couldn’t figure it out.They are honest and will take the time to shop around for parts to provide you with the best price and quality! I have been coming to Merwin Auto for over 30 years. Merwin has fixed many different models of cars for me through out the years, without a problem. I brought in my 92 camero last summer and they went out of the way to find parts for my car and fix it. When I come, its like visiting old friends. A friend of mine referred me to Merwin Auto. After taking my car there they were able to address concerns I had and fix them the same day. They pointed out a mistake a different shop had made and corrected the issue. Pricing was reasonable, staff was knowledgable and friendly. Office area was clean and the services were printed clearly on the reciept. The only reason Im leaving a four star review instead of 5 is that they installed a Merwin Auto liscence plate cover on the back of my car and didnt tell me. I would have been fine with it if they asked, but they didnt. Overall a great mom and pop shop, will definitely bring my car back in the future.

Took my rough running 94 Caprice to MerWin. Was told it needed a tune up: $810.11. Thats the going rate for a tune up on this car. The reason its so expensive is because the water pump has to be removed in order to get to the distributor. When I told MerWin I felt there may be other issues affecting engine performance that needed repair, I was told, First things first; lets tune it up. I paid the $45 estimate charge and I left, thinking maybe its time to get rid of this 21 year old car.Went to Browncroft for a second opinion. Their first things first approach was to find the issues I suspected. Among other things, they found a broken exhaust intake hose and faulty Co2 sensor. This work cost me $324. They did agree the car will need a tune up. However, for that $324 I have my car again running just fine.11/30 in response to the owners response: Why wasnt I told that? You lost a customer due to poor communication on your part. When you come up with a costly estimate, you should go into more detail with the customer than First things first. And Im not sure I believe that you would have done an $800 tune up for free if it didnt solve the problem.
