We tried all the sandwiches: gyro, beef, ground meat and chicken. Chicken sandwich was really good. Gyro was okay. Beef was mediocre, the meat was hard as rock. Ground meat was tasteless.
The best Mediterranean food this side of Virginia! They also have a great little shop to stock up on your must haves. You will not be disappointed!!!
Absolutely loved my first visit to Bethlehem Restaurant.al I was excited to hear of Arabic/Mediterranean food in the Roanoke area, and this exceeded my expectations. The owners where not very friendly. The food was incredible. I especially enjoyed my beef shawarma which was one of the best Ive ever had! The grocery section of the restaurant was probably my favorite part of the experience. I was able to find things that I once thought were exclusively catered oversees, but there they were! Overall, I am very happy with my experience and will be returning frequently.
The food here was excellent, but a little pricy for lunch if ordering a full entree with sides. The portions were very large, allowing us to take lots home for dinner. Im not well versed in Middle Eastern cuisine, but the yellow long grain rice (Saffron?) was exceptional in flavor, as well as the tazaki sauce. The salad was chopped fine with a vinegar type dressing, the chicken kabobs were tasty and not dry, and the thin bread was also excellent. This spot only has four tables and we arrived at noon, and it was not busy. One orders at the counter from a printed menu, with large photos of the dishes in the wall. You get your own drink from the refrigerator and pick up food when called, so its self service. You go to the counter to pay at meals end, as there is no table service. You are surrounded by a grocery containing middle eastern food and treats, as well as cultural photos and knick knacks. Its a very interesting place to dine, and was not busy. The restaurant was clean, and staff were very cordial and friendly, but couldnt answer some questions I had about the spices, due to the language barrier. The windows were covered with opaque signs, so no one could see in or out, but lighting was not a problem. Overall, Bethlehem is a very different and interesting place to dine. I recommend at least one visit to try it out, for a tasty and unique dining pleasure.
I was super hyped about this place, ordered some Kabob, the serving size was super small, lots of rice but barely any protein. Ordered some Humus and pita bread as well and the Humus was very bland. The guy in the front was professional, the dude in the back was just staring at us. Very strange experience. The grocery store looked interesting if you are interested in middle eastern grocery. Give it a try, personally I am big into middle eastern/ Mediterranean food but I wasnt impressed.
If I could give 10 stars, I would.I found about the place on my favorite Google maps. o couldnt understand of it was halal or no. I found 3 old review mentioning it.So, I am confirming its HALAL.We got served very fresh and delicious food. Price was not bad at all for a small town. We drank made German sparkly juice which was so much better than regular soda. The restaurant is inside a store. So we ended up buying halal marshmallow biscuits ( something like choco-poe), almond staffed dates covered in chocolate. If I am in the area again, Ill definitely come back.Staff was super friendly and nice. The place itself, bathrooms were clean.Great job guys!!!
Fairly priced. Fries were not very good.
Great food served in a Mediterranean store.
Had a good experience in 2019 while driving from Texas but this time was horrible taste, bery dirty bathroom ... rice were smelly. No salt no spice...bland taste... did not even serve woth proper aervings of a miseast restaurant
Great little Mediterranean market! Fresh, frozen, and shelf stable foods. They also have a little restaurant with delicious Mediterranean foods like hummus, baba ghanoush, kibbeh, labne, and freshly baked pita. Their baklava is good, not too sweet and not drowning in syrup. They sell a prepackaged snack, Choco-Dates, that are fantastic chocolate covered dates. The coconut chocolate dates are my favorite!
Fattoush salad was bright (loved the vinagrette-like dressing), refreshing, with crispy pita chips. Hummus with chicken was creamy and savory. Give small businesses like this place a look!
A go-to place for Mediterranean, Arabic and Middle Eastern delights. Quality prepared food along with authentic imported food staples and delicacies. Wide selection of teas, spices, olives, and other Middle Eastern kitchen necessities.
Not very good at all. Nothing fresh, limited with product on shelves. Products dusty and old looking. The only guy working takes his sweet time to get to u. Waited 5 minutes at the register for him to stop cooking to check me out with his gloves on that he never removed, then went back to cooking. Never a thank u or even looked at me..not pleasant, bad atmosphere. Would not recommend at all.
Charged me double the price, only bought chicken nuggets and beef patty’s 2 showrmas and they charged me 100$
Great place for take out
Mediterranean food and service here is above par. This place will surprise you. Ive had nothing but enjoyable experiences here and plan to keep visiting. The place has a cool atmosphere. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I loved.
A favorite location for delicious Mediterranean food. You wont be disappointed in the menu and service. Certainly worth going back to. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Great tasting food, ordered a gyro and it was made fresh to order. They also offer a great assortment of halal food/ products
Picked up take out here on a Sunday afternoon.Never before ate middle eastern food but loved it!Had the chicken shawarma & fries. My taste buds were excited with how delicious it was!It tasted so healthy & the wrap was crispy but not greasy, same with the fries.Finger food you can eat without getting your hands greasyAte on the parking lot in my vehicle as still afraid to eat inside anywhere during Covid. Now I have a new place thats healthy food to eat at whenever I am in the area!
Mediterranean food at this location - yummy. got there near five, it wasnt very busy. the staff was sociable and attentive. the bill was good for what you get.
If you are looking for Arabic lunch or dinner near Roanoke, that’s the right place, friendly team and good portions. They have a nice grocery section with a lot of Middle Eastern items.
Nice spot for quality mediterranean food. The service was very welcoming and observant. Food is similar to a place in San Francisco I liked.
One of my favorite Mexican places in town for shredded chicken quesadillas with the queso sauce on top. My son is partial to the steak and potato burrito.
Mediterranean food, mmm, my favorite treat. Its so delicious. The service here is friendly. I see why this place has a lot of positive reviews.
I’ve been their customer for a while, my friends warned me about their products freshness but I really wanted to believe that they were wrong.Unfortunately, it was not an accident or one time experience, this is the THIRD time that I bought something and when I came home I noticed that its expired weeks ago and theyre still selling them and having them in their fridge and sadly when I returned them it wasnt a surprise for them, they already knew it 😐😐Huge disappointment.I wont support a business that doesnt care about customers health! NO not anymore
I have ordered from Bethlehem Restaurant twice now and it is truly delicious! I have tried other Mediterranean places in Roanoke, and so far, Bethlehem restaurant has been the most delicious! I love this place and the presentation of their food is great as well! Highly recommend!!!
Great selection and friendly service.
One of the best sweet shops around. They have some of best teas and biscuits. I got the stuffed grape leaves and the falafel with salad. 👍
Absolutely amazing food here. You must try it if youre on Williamson. Its somewhat different than your standard American food like hamburgers or hot dogs and youre almost certain to enjoy it. Nice, friendly and welcoming employees too. One of the employees even shook my hand and said Welcome sir. That was unexpected since this is a small little grocery store/ restaurant but I was very impressed with everything about Bethlehem Restaurant & Grocery.
Love this place! Food is really yummy and always hot and fresh! Great place to get takeout from. Plus the staff is super friendly and welcoming. They also have a good selection of grocery items, including jarred goods and some yummy sweets. Probably one of my favorite places in Roanoke and very close to downtown, right on Williamson road.
Solid food quickly prepared alone with a small grocery selection
The staff was very friendly and laid back. I had a hummus appetizer and falafel wrap. They were both good and everything tasted fresh. The grocery store had a nice variety of items you cant find in other stores.
This is not what you expect in a restaurant but if you are open minded about being served excellent food, Bethlehem is a wonder. I was introduced here by a friend. Their gyro and stuffed grape leaves, fantastic.
Im from out of town, stopped by for a meal to-go. The Beef Shawarma was delicious! The vegetables were amazingly fresh, the incredibly-seasoned rice was amazing. Im definitely coming back!
Overpriced and poor quality
Wonderful variety of hard-to-find ingredients for middle-eastern cuisines. Didnt find the basterma I was looking for, but found several good alternatives and many other irresistible, intriguing items. Roanoke is fortunate to have this resource!
Dishonest, filthy, out of date items, and not friendly faces at all. Not recommend this place.
The food is delicious, and the customer service is outstanding. I ordered the wrong thing, and I would have been happy with it that dish as well, but they insisted on getting me what I meant to order. Really nice owners, made my day. Ive had the lamb chop dish and shawarma and they were both fabulous. The grocery is meticulously kept as well!
One of the most disrriminatinatory and offensive situations I’ve ever encountered. My girlfriend and I went in to get some food. First time. Cook was relatively friendly at first. Owner walked in, rude didn’t speak and was scaling the entire time. A few minutes into waiting for our food I rested my head (I’m 6’1) on my girlfriends shoulder who is (5’2) for a moment. The owner broke in to say “stop doing that in front of the kids”... I was so confused I said “stop doing what” he proceeded to say I was kissing all over my girlfriend in front of the two children of customers (that had been running around screaming at the top of their lungs for more than 10 min) were watching. I explained I wasn’t kissing her at all I was just resting my head. Told him we came to learn about their culture and experience their food and this is how you treat guests? We cancelled the order. There was nothing that warranted that kind of behavior. My girlfriend calmly explained that they had no right to tell adults how to behave especially when it was neither offensive or illegal to hug. We were then cursed out and told the cops would be called if we didn’t leave. Disgusted with the situation and disappointed in how truly unprofessional and offensive it all was. NEVER GO.
My first experience was great. The good was very delicious. It is a small restaurant/store but they have a wonderful menu. Will definitely go there again.
Stop reading and go already! We had the chicken and lab kabobs and the burger. The kabobs were very tender! The burger seemed like it was shawarma meat packed into a burger patty, but good either way. The surprise was the sauces they serve. It made the food even better. P. S. They kinda went heavy on their balsamic salad dressing, so if youre not a fan, ask them put it on the side.
Great meals at a great price. Not to mention they have many hard to find Mediterranean spices not available at Kroger or even Fresh Market. The staff were extremely friendly and they even gave us drinks on the house!
Full menu counter service restaurant and well-stocked market. The food is authentic and fresh. I will be back for another visit.
Very good middle eastern market/restraunt. Lots of authentic middle eastern product. Good amount of parking, and very friendly staff.
Yesterday was the first time I tried the food. Great tasting food at a reasonable price and a good location on Williamson road in Roanoke VA. They also carry grocery items, mainly cooking ingredients. I had the falafel sandwich and it was amazing. Ill be back for more for sure. Friendly staff as well.
Stopped in for a spice that our local grocery store did not carry. The gentleman there helped me find exactly what I was looking for very quickly. He told me how to use the spice and foods to put it on. He also talked with me about other spices there. He was so very nice and helpful. I did not stop to eat there. But we are planning to.
Middle eastern food. Fantastic. Best stuffed grape leaves ever!
Good service and fresh food. The lamb was awesome.
Delicious food and freindly service
Food is wonderful! Guys are super nice there! Will continue to go back! Eat in or take out...
The food and service were excellent! Little hole in the wall place that doesnt look like much on the outside but great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. One complaint, lamb was a bit chewy but otherwise Id stop back for more.
Best Mediterranean food in Roanoke! Everything was made fresh, including the pita and falefal and service was fast. I will definitely come back and try the other items on the menu.
Wow! This is great food! Warm friendly owners. This is truly an local establishment worthy of support.
Very helpful staff. Large inventory. Great experience.
Chicken kabobs were way undercooked, but kafta and rice were delicious. Also it took them a good 10 minutes just to understand my order in person (which was rather simple to be honest). Overall, would definitely visit again but please work on those 2 things.
Its good place...
Place is clean. Service is quick. The owner prepared our dishes by himself so everything was fresh and delightful. And dishes are authentic.
Authentic. Food is really good.
You need to eat more shawarma, and this place has it and its amazing
The food is always great and the ethnic groceries are fantastic. Definitely go check it out.
Order a Gyro combo and the hummus. It was pretty good. Food was fresh and hot. Nice portions for the price.
Bad place I hate their customer service. They are not professional. One order it takes more than 45 minutes. They dont have welcome face. I recommend for any one go to this restaurant
My wife and I ordered several different things and everything was delicious, well definitely be back!
This place has some of the best hummus, shawarmas, and lamb I have had outside of the middle east. If you are visiting Roanoke and you have a taste for middle eastern cuisine, this is THE place to go. Unassuming, but AMAZING!!!
I miss living in Roanoke for one reason (literally this one reason). I have to drive 2 hours to get food here now. If that says enough, there it is. I WILL drive 2 hours to eat here. But if you need more, Bethlehem has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere and authentic Levantine (thats Lebanon) dishes. Some may believe that automatically means exotic or spicy or outlandish. It is not. What you will find is a variety of beef, chicken, lamb, rice, beans, bread, pasta, greens, and veggies all cooked with mouth watering herbs and spices in a traditional manner. The owners are in the kitchen and at the register and personally make sure you are served with the greatest hospitality and generosity. If you are in the area, you cannot pass up this gem. Also, dont leave without getting dessert...if you still have room. *Keto warning. Pretty much everything is served with pita bread and/or rice.
Mediterranean food, mmm, so tasty. Dont worry if its busy, it is worth the wait. Bring your appetite because portions are large. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I liked.
Very nice people! Good products 👍
Great food. Fattoush salad, hummus and chicken shawarma were delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommended
So good! Great price! Great food! Great service! I think someone already said that, but I second it!
Bad experience for my family we are just passing by and looking for dinner we got wrong order nothing like we paid for they put hummus instead of rice and salad we are so tired and then not the dinner we ordered. We give them a call when we return to the hotel and the answer was what can I do for you hhhh we are closing now . I do not recommend this place 👎👎
I love this place. i went here to get my dad and my pop pop (who is from Egypt) some falafel sandwiches. They loved them. I love the dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). Yum.
This is the best Mediterranean food in Roanoke. While the atmosphere isnt fancy, its part of the experience. Do yourself a favor, please, and eat this food.
Good food, great staff. You cant go wrong.
Excellent food and customer service. Didnt eat inside but was still delicious when I got it home. Will definately be back.
Good food for a reasonable price and nice people.
Good Mediterranean Food, with nice grocery selection, and nice seating area. Good pricing

Excellent food and service. Authentic Mediterranean food.
My top scene for tasty mediterranean food. The service was very friendly and kind.
This is awesome, food is very athletic, the quality and quantity are outstanding will go again.
Amazing! Great selection of middle-eastern grocery. (Quite a bit of Iranian grocery, I mention this specifically because thats what I went there for.) They had exactly what I was looking for which was (dried sabzi kookoo). Even my Iranian-american girlfriend was impressed with the store(: We intend on trying the food at their restaurant very soon! It looked and smelled delicious!
Ok
Its the best!!!. Food was delicious, service outstanding, place organized, has decent basic grocery goodies
