A great place to sip a hot drink, have a good pastry or biscuit, and get some reading done or work on your laptop. Lovely, nice people behind the counter. Highly recommend Grit Coffee :)

Just because the barista can afford the 2nd edition apple airpods doesn’t make it okay to talk on the phone while a prospective customer is at the counter nor through out the whole interaction. That initially didn’t put a good taste in my month. After looking over the menus, I was going to order the “newly added” fall drink, but having it described as ‘very popular,’ I went with the classic americano. As I was struggling to pay for the drink with my apply pay, due to the mask thing, she hovered in front making sure I can afford an americano. Once the transaction when through, she rushed away to talk on the phone while making my drink. The Decor at Grit Coffee is nice and simple, but everything felt like a worse version of the pretentiousness at Lamplighter, with coffee that isn’t as good.

Great coffee! If you like light roast coffee, I recommend the Mexico roast. This business is welcoming to its customers; Shay goes above and beyond with her service to the customer. I appreciate her kindness and warm personality. Please take a little time to stop and support this business. 🤙☕

I had a seamless mobile order and pickup experience. Their sausage egg breakfast sandwich was hot and tasty, and the latte I ordered was delicious as well. Their pickup table was very easy to locate, unlike some other places I’ve been during the pandemic. Will be back!

Love this sweet little libbie spot! I’ve been in before but today came to use my Richmond Experience member perk for a free latte! So kind. Maria was friendly and welcoming and even helped me out when I realized I left my mask in the car and provided one for me. She recommended the salted caramel latte with oat milk and it did not disappoint! Really good caramel and coffee flavor without being watery the way oat milk can sometimes be. I can’t wait to come back again soon! A+ addition to this cute neighborhood.

For a while now, weve been needing a good, dedicated coffee shop in the Westhampton area and Im so happy Grit has opened up their RVA location here. Their coffee on its own is wonderful and the crafted drinks (lattes, mochas, fogs, etc) and great as well. The staff were very kind and the atmosphere is fun and lively. Though its only to-go for right now, Im excited for a day where we can hang out at Grit, working on projects or meeting friends. Welcome to the neighborhood!

We decided to visit here yesterday (12/4) since we were in the area. The coffee was great and the staff was very friendly. This would have been an easy 5 star review; however, I removed a star simply because they charge $1 for non-dairy milk. I completely understand why businesses charge for non-dairy milk since it costs more than regular milk, but I think it’s a shame that they do this because it seems like a slap in the face to people that can’t have dairy to charge them for their medical condition, and a dollar is a pretty steep charge to have to pay if you frequent this place. If they lowered (or get rid of, as I feel all businesses should) the charge for the almond/oat milk, I would give them 5 stars. Come on owners of grit coffee, there are a lot of other coffee shops in the area that don’t charge for non-dairy milk, and I think your coffee is better than a lot of them. So please stop charging people for their medical condition.

The line was frustratingly long and they appeared undee-staffed as there was only one employee present. We ordered a seasonal drink and a vanilla latte and were disappointed. We were hoping to take a bag of whole beans to go home but everything there was pre-ground.We are not local but would give it another shot when we are in town next. We are not excited to return but hope for a better experience next time

The prices here are hard to beat; I got a large americano with oat milk and vanilla flavor for under 4 dollars. Incredible! The barista was also so friendly and helpful. I have recently bought an espresso machine and she helped me with choosing the right beans and even grinded them up to make the perfect espresso grounds! I will definitely be coming back!

My wife and I were really excited to try Grit for the first time. We completed a mobile order at 9:00 to be picked up at 9:21. We arrived at 9:22. We sat inside without our order being ready until 9:35. At this time, I asked the barista for an update on the order. We were very rudely told the drip coffee was brewing and that “we would need to wait”. We eventually had our order fulfilled at 9:38.I’ve never been to a good establishment that hasn’t apologized sincerely when things don’t go as they should. Regardless if the coffee was good or not, there are too many good coffee options in Richmond to frequent an establishment that is rude and can’t complete a simple drop coffee order in decent time.

My latte order arrived with a small cup being filled only 2/3 of the way. There was no signature latte art in the foam. The foam looked like an amateur poured it, with large bubbles and fallen. It looked like I got the leftovers of someones previous order. In the age of covid and carryout, I did not discover any of that until I was in my car. Please get your act together. It would be lovely to have a local coffee shop serving amazing coffee. Please provide the taste and the experience commensurative with the prices.
