My go-to place for my car. I get inspections and oil changes here. They tell you the price up front, no nonsense. They have my car in and out at a reasonable time. No complaints.

They helped me get a part quickly, and it was a good price, but tried to intimidate me into a bunch of other stuff, typical chauvinist condescension from these guys. THEN they called me and tried to intimidate me into changing my review.Changing a radiator cap is easier than opening a pop tab on a soda can. The guys inside tried to tell me I needed a new radiator without even looking at my engine, and tried to convince me that the filler valve (that the cap goes on) was NOT a separate part that could easily be replaced. You guys just lost the rest of those stars.Not only that, I ordered the part and paid for it in cash, after I mentioned my brother-in-law, who is an electrician, does work for them sometimes, and I asked the mechanic outside if he could easily replace the filler valve if need be, and he concurred.But when these guys got mad about being called out for trying to bulls—t me, they actually tried to get my brother-in-law to bully me into changing this review.Nice try.

The best place to fix your car ever.

I recently had my car towed and worked on at Sunset Hills Automotive it was my first time using their services and I couldn’t say enough about how well my car and I were treated. I spoke with Zach McDonald both on the phone and in person and never have I recieced such outstanding customer service in the auto shop industry. His kindness alone will keep me coming back! Besides customer service they were on time, thorough, and made sure I knew what was wrong and what to expect no extra charges were snuck onto my bill. I would highly recommend their services to anyone new to owning/maintaining a car. Absolutely fantastic experience!

Called first to find out what the wait may be for a safety inspection. The gentleman that answered the phone was so thorough, I knew exactly what to expect when I arrived at the station. The reception was friendly and professional and my vehicle was in and out within 20 minutes. Definitely one of the most efficient process. Although this was my first time visiting the service station, this wont be my last.

These guys were able to squeeze me in when a co-worker noticed something hanging from underneath my car. They put it up on a lift, identified it as a loose protector on the AC line, and reattached it. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes with no appointment and no charge. I moved to Reston in 2018 and needed a good local shop thats honest. I do most of my own work aside from emissions/inspections, however I sent my girlfriend there who knows nothing about vehicles to get an inspection, and they were up front and honest about the work that needed to be done, without trying to manipulate her to up-sell unnecessary things. In that time they have performed numerous regular maintenance and other repairs on the truck that have always been fully explained to me so I understand what the underlying issue is and what work is being done to fix it. I just moved to VA from OK. I went to Sunset for emission and state inspection testing. I was so impressed with their level of professionalism that I went back a couple of months later for an oil change. Jason and Steve are the best. They both gave me professional, honest advice about the best way to maintain my car. I waited until “Black Friday” to get a good deal on tires. Went to a national chain and listened to a customer complain about his car not being drivable after this national chain did an alignment. I’m glad I went back to Sunset for a set of tires. The online rebate submission for Michelin was easy, convenient and fast. My car drives better than it did when I drove home from Toyota after purchasing it. It feels like I’m floating on air and I can barely feel the road. I will definitely be bringing my car to Sunset for all of my automotive needs. Thank you gentlemen!

First time at this establishment today. Had to get an alignment and state inspection done. Excellent customer service! Did exactly what i wanted, with quality work. No trying to get me to pay extra for things that didnt need to be done. Professional staff. Most definitely the best garage ive been to around here, and there shuttle service is great as well. Sunset said I failed the state inspection with a lot of problems:1. Wiper blades. Ok I agree2. Front flex pipe leaks.> Flex Steel looks decent condition, noair leak.3. All engine mounts are broken> We just replaced about less than twoyears. 1 or 2 sound reasonable, but allfailed quite impossible. I do not seeeven small cracks.Note: if you do not fix at my place, I write on sticker attitude is unacceptable. Honesty??? Who can’t be trusted in small things shall not be trusted in big things.

I went there for oil change and they insisted on radiator flush which I agreed on. They handed me a bill of 400 dollars I asked what happened that said that did a 75000 miles service for my car and I told I havent asked for it and I had to argue with them for 15 mins I asked them what they have done in 75000 miles they presented me some brake measurement and battery reading and ultimately they reduced my bill by 60 dollars . I end up paying 140 dollars for regular oil change, tire rotation and some shady 75000 miles maintenance and another 190 dollars for radiator flush. I agree I dont know much about car but I knew it was a rip off. That was the last time I visited them.

We took my boyfriends Lexus car there a few weeks ago for the first time. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. They along with management kept me in the loop about my car and when it would be done. They showed me the waiting area and made sure that I was taken care of. When my car was done they called me to the front and explained what had been done and anything that needed to be done on the next visit. We will definitely be bringing our car here going forward. I normally never give a five-star review. But this place is one of the best. And they deserve it, trust me. they will work with you and try to fit you into a schedule based off of what works for you. They offer a shuttle service to drop you off and pick you up if you work nearby. The cost for an oil change has never been over $90 for me where as other places charge me well over $120 for synthetic. Im really grateful for this place because it works so conveniently with where I work as well

I love having my car worked on at Sunset Hills. The guys there represent your father or your brother or your best friend who knows everything about cars. Im just really comfortable with them and I know the work will be done right and if work is not needed they wont do it. They are good men who do good work.Bonus. The waiting room is comfortable and they have wifi.

The team here goes out of their way to ensure your problems are resolved. They are extremely up front about the cost of parts and required labor. Id highly recommend giving them a go the next time you need work done.

My family and I used to use sunset hills for everything. I brought my truck in because there because my dome lights would not turn on and I could not adjust my side view mirrors. They held my truck for several days and when I called to follow up, they said they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong with it and they need more time. I use my truck for work, I cannot have it sitting in a shop. I took it back Nd brought it elsewhere to get fixed. It was a SIMPLE fuse replacement. I was out of work for several days for something that takes 10 minutes to fix. I do not trust their judgement anymore. 2 stars just because they are friendly.UPDATE:Wayne, the manager, just reached out to me. He apologized for the incident and genuinely wanted to do better. The place is under new management so I hope they can continue to grow because I want small businesses to do well in my area.

Recently moved and have been looking for a new local shop. These guys are competent mechanics, owner is awesome. Squeezed me in a couple hours before close when I got towed in, and had me back on the road in an hour. Hard to find good, honest mechanics, and Im glad to say my search has ended. Not necessarily cheap, but entirely fair at the same time. Worth spending a fair price on good work. Not trying to gouge you, and up-front about the costs. I had inquired about installing an exhaust a few days before I needed the emergency service, and received a prompt reply. Will be my go-to, for any future work needed. As Im ready, I completely trust them to install my planned modifications, as well as take care of maintenance as it arises. Thanks again guys

Due to the realities of Covid-19 right now in Northern Virginia, I was in shock to see that Sunset HIlls Automotive offered a pick-up and return service for your car. All you had to do was call for an appointment.I had my car picked up to have an emissions test and one team member was dropped off to take my car and was masked and gloved. Wayne, the drop-off driver, explained what their procedure would be at the center and for return of my car. So wonderful to have this service and they even cleaned my car since as a Senior Citizen I cannot yet go to a carwash. My children use this Auto Center and had recommended them to me. This is a great service to the Reston community since there is no extra fee and they would not take a tip. First class business and staff!!!

I dropped my car off a little before 9am and was able to pick it up in under 2 hours! Other places I would be waiting all day. Also, they were so thoughtful to park my car in the shade on such a hot day.

This is a great mechanics shop, I only go here when I have issues with my vehicles or need to have things done to them. I trust these folks and recommend them to anyone who needs reliable and honest work done for their vehicles.

While they were friendly and efficient, they tried to overcharge me by over 200$. I was in a bind as my car had broken down in the middle of the night and this was the closest place, but other places and the Web indicated for parts and labor the served shouldve been $650 max - they wanted me to pay almost $900. They came down in price for me but I still do not totally trust them in spite of good service.

6 months ago, another mechanic told me I needed approximately $2500 worth of work on my car. I couldnt afford it, so I kept putting off what I knew would ultimately be a painful repair. Today, my car is fixed for less than $900, and it is because these guys arent crooks, and they dont take advantage. They told me what they would do to their own familys cars, and I took their advice. I couldnt be happier. I will DEFINITELY be back.

I have been there twice in 2 weeks with 2 of my vehicles and was happy both times. Each issue steamed from the recent snow and cold snap we suffered here in NOVA.First was 2 blown tires on a 2006 Mini Cooper from the massive potholes on the toll road. Tires delivered late on Monday and they were mounted, balanced, aligned, inspected for other damage the next day.Second was bumper and body damage on my GMC Yukon because I pulled into an ice and snow bank in my parking lot. For a very reasonable price they saved me from digging into my insurance deductible.Good shop. Good people.

I brought my car in for an oil change. I had the oil changed previously in the fall of 2017, and at my appointment in Spring 2018, I was told that the price for labor was $20 more than before...so basically the labor price doubled. I was also told when I picked up the car that there was an issue with a leak near my water pump in the front and they already had an estimate typed out for me for the cost which was over $900 (parts were around $500.) I knew this was way over-priced. I went to a Chevy Dealership and had the entire part kit replaced for $280. This place is ripping its customers off. I will post pictures of receipts and estimates side-by-side.

These guys are Liars! Dropped off my relatively new car for standard VA safety inspection. I know for a fact nothing was wrong with it. Got a call saying my brake light was out??!! Which I know was completely false. Not like I could prove otherwise since I wasnt there in person at the time. They just wanted to make a quick $20 and I wasnt about to pay to have a safety inspection again at another place. Do yourself a favor and find a more honest place, or at least one where you can watch everything they do while your car is being serviced.

It’s the best in the area. They give the best advice. They never recommend unnecessary services, unlike chain stores.

Echeck is annoying, but these guys made it easy. Courteous workers, a shuttle to work, and a prompt follow up. They even helped me find my ID number for new tags when I managed to lose the paperwork.

Ive reviewed them before, but after five years Im still a happy customer. Theyve never overcharged me- Ive sometimes gotten a 2nd estimate just to check- and theyve fixed minor problems for free, like yesterday when the engine splash shield was coming undone, they just fixed it up for me and handed me the keys. They have a shuttle but their waiting room is nice, with wifi and a coffee/hot chocolate K cup machine, or sometimes I just take a walk on the WOD trail to get some sunshine while Im waiting. A great group of workers.

I went here this morning, with a huge nail in my tire, i had every intention of having to purchase a new tire. Upon bringing it here; they had every opportunity to rip me off; but didnt. it turns out that the nail was bent or broken and actually didnt pierce the tire at all, and they simply checked it and let me go free of charge. UPDATE: The more I think about this visit the more angry I get. Not only should they have clearly known to do my state inspection because the expired sticker was front and cent (I had asked them to it and they didn’t), but come to find out my mirror was never broken in the first place and they tried to charge me 170 to put the glass I had already bought onto the mirror. BE WARNEDI went in there asking for a state inspection, instead they serviced my car. If you want slight incompetence please go here.
