A few months ago I came here for a routine/yearly inspection and was quite surprised at how friendly the staff was. They got my car in and out quickly even though they had plenty of other cars they were working on.After having a poor experience at the dealership where I bought my car, I decided to try South Lakes Sunoco for my oil change and tire rotation as well. Not only were they very affordable, they were prompt, to the point and informative. They checked additional items like filters etc. But didnt try to oversell or push anything that I didnt need. They told me to have the air filters checked at the next oil change and just that honesty made me feel much more comfortable working with them as opposed to the dealership that tried to push $300 plus in additional items on the cars very first oil change.Highly recommend going here for any services you may need for your car!

I took my 23 year old car in for an oil change and to check for an exhaust leak due to excessive engine noise. After looking the car over, Edward provided pictures of several holes in my muffler and exhaust pipe and told me point blank that he wouldnt advise sinking any money into repairs due to the extent of the rust along my chassis. I appreciated the honesty along with waiving the diagnosis fee and not doing an unnecessary oil change. Clearly South Lakes Sunoco values its customers more than making a quick buck.

I needed the pressure checked in all 4 tires after the pressure gauge showed a tire low and filling the tire did not clear the indicator. They did a thorough job with no cost, since no repair was needed. I tipped the techs.

This auto shop at Sunoco South Lakes is always a pleasure to work with. I always work with Adi H. for any car needs or questions I have; he is knowledgeable and helpful every time I visit. And Daniel is extremely helpful as well. The team there truly always goes above and beyond. It takes the stress out of needing work done in my vehicle.

I needed an emissions test as a new VA car. Adi also informed me that I also needed an inspection so that saved me another trip! He was very professional and even found me in the CVS in order to get my approval in a repair so I can pass inspection. Above and beyond. Highly recommend.

It takes a lot for me to leave a public review but I had to for the sake of the people. I am not well educated on cars but I still know for a fact that I have been screwed multiple times by this auto repair shop. 1) I got my tires replaced and not only did they put my tires on backwards according to another repair shop (inside of tire was facing outside of car) but they also inflated both of the tires more than 15 PSI over the recommended number listed on my car (I checked the tire pressure just 4 days after installation). 2) I have been quoted $500-$1000 over other local quotes almost every time I’ve gone to get repairs. 3) I called to ask to get my car realigned, they told me to come drop it off so I did. After a full day of my car being in the shop I still had not been contacted by them so I reached out and they told me they didn’t have the machine to realign my car. They told me to come back later that week. When I went to pick up my car a second time they told me there was not enough gas to take my car onto a major highway to test the alignment to see if the issue was resolved. The alignment of course was not fixed which I discovered immediately after driving away. Horrible at communicating, waste of my time and money.

I had to get repairs done on a very tight deadline and they did it. True professionals! I highly recommend this establishment. Very nice people as well - they really care about their customers. I will be going back for future repairs.

I have been coming to Sunoco for years and have had a few cars over the years they have helped me maintain and repair. They are always straight up and honest. They will explain anything that I have questions about and, as a single woman who isn’t a car expert, I appreciate that. I do highly recommend them for their prompt service, too! Marvin has always been friendly and communicative, calling me with price quotes and updates. All around a great place and I will keep coming here!

I had a minor accident near this Sunoco, which I had never been to before. I had dented my wheel but now my car was making horrible noises and I was nervous to drive home after work. I drove in hoping just to ask a quick question at almost 6pm. Eric was so kind he talked to me about what happened and what could be going on with my car. He even took a quick look at my tire. He gave me a number of options and was very helpful when it was almost after hours and he was not required to even discuss it with me.The next day I called them and set up an appointment to get my car evaluated that day. it was very affordable and Marvin was very helpful and explained everything that was going on with my car and what I needed done along with all of my options. Everyone there was very helpful in the service dept. I felt very comfortable with all of the information I was given, and felt confident with the service and work done. I will definitely go back there whenever I need to have work done. (side note: When I went in the night before another woman, who was picking up her car, was thanking Eric for all the great work they did and being so helpful and communicative)

I took my Toy Tundra in for State Inspection that is due. Pleasant greeting by the inspector who had gloves, mask, and cover for my seat. Took about 20 min to inspect my truck and paid the cashier. Clean courteous inspector as well as the other mechanics working on cars in the other bays.

I really like these guys because they provide quality service, are friendly and work with you to get the problem resolved. Another thing that I really value is that when I take my cars there they dont try to up-sell me on things that I dont really need. Awesome service for my 2001 Mercedes 320 SLK! First, they do the Schedule A Mercedes service (oil change and systems checks) for half the price, And they do it by appointment (on time), taking all of 45 minutes, drive-in, drive-out. Even better, they mentioned they have a relationship with my other Car Shop that specializes in foreign car repair, wherein they can get some advice on “tricky” issues. I totally love having a reliable, competent, reasonably priced, local shop to take my baby.

Sunoco@South Lakes Is truly a neighborhood garage. I love these guys. My 82 year old mom’s car had a flat tire ... they took the tire off, analyzed but based on side issue they recommended it might be still under warranty with Costco. And it was! Marvin was so patient with her calls & some confusion ... And they did not charge her! The kindness & the help I hope continues .... it’s hard to find business you can trust & rely on. Thumbs up to to Marvin & crew!!!

We made the change to South Lakes Sunoco 10 years or more ago as our go-to garage for auto repairs and maintenance. I have found them trust worthy and labor pricing fair. Depending on the urgency, I have purchased products from them, however, they are flexible and would prefer to buy items like tires, batteries from a retailer then they will use your purchased items for the repair. The rare time an issue came up, the issue was resolved satisfactorily with high priority.

These guys are real pros, very professional. Stopped in for an oil change. They had me out in less than an hour. The time I was in before that, I mentioned to Adi that my left head light had been out. He disassembled it and found the problem with the connector. Fixed it for me free of charge. It would have been $300 at the Lexus dealer. Great guys to have on your team. Highly recommended.

Quick and honest service. I took my Nissan Altima here to get my serpentine belt replaced per the recommendation of the dealership. They took a look at it and told me the belt had no signs of cracking or glazing and did not need to be replaced. I know plenty of other places (like the dealership) would just replace it to make a quick buck, so I really appreciated their honesty. They also performed a state inspection in less than an hour. I will definitely be coming here as my go to repair shop!

I have been going to South Lakes Sunoco for many years for my various five cars and I continue to receive superior service from the excellent mechanics and inspectors. The bays are consistently clean, the shop managers very polite and explain all the work completed on my vehicles. If high priced parts are needed, I have always been offered several options. So glad they are down the street from me because they are reliable and take care of my car safety. Thanks to all the mechanics, inspectors and managers on duty since 1983 (when they were Mobil and converted to Sunoco).

Superior customer service. After searching around for an honest shop, I discovered these guys. My previous shop had graduated from telling me every issue would be 1000 to telling me every issue would be 2000, always finding tons of things that *had* to be done right now. ENOUGH!From day 1, these guys only recommended the necessary work, and had the best prices on that work. Above all, they are honest, diligent, and customer who oriented. I wish I had found them long ago, but now I am a customer for life.Had a slow leak in a tire after a road trip, my old place would have charged 60-100 just to diagnose the problem. These guys found it, told me, and mounted my spare for free. I ordered a tire and shipped it. Balanced mounted and out the door for 15.50.Customer for life!

I always dread the time it takes for inspections. Being the first time, coming to South Last Sunoco, for inspection, I was expecting a long wait. I was astoundedh by how nicely I was greeted, and how quickly and efficiently my car was inspected. Thank you, so much, for exceeding my expectations!May, 1Once again, exceeding expectations. Most of the time, I put off regular maintenance, because of the time involved for any mechanic work. My usual mechanic was booked thru tomorrow. So, I took a chance with calling South Lakes Sunoco. Not only were they able to take me right away, but my car was ready in 30 minutes. Who does that!? Ill tell you, its Brandon, Jonathan, and all the skilled mechanics at South Lakes Sunoco. Reasonable prices, and friendly service. Im definitely coming back, and referring my friends.

I always come here for my annual Virginia safety inspection because they are fast, thorough and fair. While I would say the prices they quote for tires are a little high, its not out of line for small repair shops in the area. I will also frequently get gas here as well. Not the absolute cheapest in south Reston, but its usually within ten cents and worth the convenience when Im grocery shopping.

The service at this Sunoco station was absolutely exceptional. When you read what happened, I think you will agree. I took my car in to have a battery cable replaced. The manager said it would cost $70. I said OK. I came by the next day to pick up my car. I discovered that, instead of replacing the battery cable, the mechanic simply put on a new clamp. I told the station manager that I would not pay $70 for a clamp; I thought I needed an entire cable. The station manager said, “Youre right; it was our mistake. Sorry.” “So how much do I owe you?” I asked. Without hesitation, the manager said, “It was our mistake; you dont owe us anything.” Get that? A gas station that is honest, admits its mistakes, and doesnt charge me for the service it provides. Cant beat that. Best service I have ever had. By the way, I didnt need an entire battery cable, just the clamp. It was my mistake too.

This place is very easy to spot from traffic, and has easy in and out to the main road and the shopping center that it is in. The gas is a little high, even for the area, but it is also open 24 hours, so one really cannot complain that much

I use South Lakes Sunoco on a regular basis for both my old and new Camrys. I have a lot of confidence in the folks there. They have always done a great job and are honest and fair. They have advised me not to do certain things on several occasions when they felt the work was not needed. Cannot beat the quality and level of service.

Talked to John about my Mazda, which needed a lot of work. He was up front about everything and very knowledgeable in general. They worked with me to get it to a price that sounded good, and even when an old part unexpectedly broke during their repair, they let me know as soon as it happened, and didnt charge me for it as they didnt catch it during their initial inspection and quote. It took 2 days to repair, so not the absolute quickest, but Ill be coming back here for sure anytime I need work done on my car.

They were able to patch a small whole in my tire from a screw quickly and efficiently.

Get gas there frequently; price is usually on the lower end of prices locally. Have had work done on both our cars there, with good results. Friendly, helpful staff. Good place.

Honestly i was expecting a battle to get my car fixed and havent been happier to be wrong. My wheel lock wasnt working right and I couldnt change my flat tire. I guess there is new management, and Marvin changes EVERYTHING. He went above and beyond to help me out and fix the problem. I havent seen customer service at an auto shop like this in years. My family will never go anywhere else as ling as Marvin is in charge.

After my initial review the manager, Brandon had reached out to me in a successful attempt to improvey experience. We spoke about my experience and have come to a resolution. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and quick with their assessments and work. I WILL continue to utilize their skills and knowledge base for the many years to come.

I definitely like the place. I used to live around the corner, but now live in sterling and i still take my car here, because i know the service im going to get. I love their night drop box..drop off your car, and most times they call you at 8:30 am and tell you your car is ready the next day. very helpful for getting me back on the road. Recently had battery and alternator done there..never paid so little for a major repair..very happy!

South Lakes Sunoco continues to provide great support and service. We recently had a problem with a weak battery, but they diagnosed the situation very quickly at no charge! Its great to have such a reputable station so conveniently close by.

Ive had to get a lot of work done on my 99 Grand Cherokee and theyve been really helpful in pricing the jobs and getting my car fixed by when I need it. PJ is fair and easy to work with and it seems like hes putting together a good team because Marvin has been helpful as well.

I was extremely impressed with the customer service and professionalism provided by Marvin and Adi at South Lakes Auto Repair. They clearly explained what was wrong with my car, promptly proceeded with the repair and then even showed me the parts that had been removed afterwards. So much better than the dealerships who try to get me to perform unnecessary repairs.

The oil change was quick and the price was good but the tech got oil in the interior from dirty hands.

Fast service, had me in and out in less than 30 minutes for a full inspection. Id failed an inspection from another mechanic in Reston for my breaks and suspension and then I had the car looked at by a mechanic in MD, who would have passed the suspension (the breaks needed to be replaced). The Sunoco guys asked me about the other inspection, and said it seemed like they were taking me for a ride, and theyre right... the other mechanic was trying to get over $1000 out of me, and it was totally unnecessary. The Sunoco guys advised me never to go there again, because the suspension passes the state inspection, and its totally fine! Thanks for being honest, and Ill be back to South Lakes Sunoco in the future.

Took my car here for inspection, arriving around 5:10 on a weekday. I was told they were closed for inspections. I said that their website listed their inspection hours as until 7pm on weekdays. They told me that this was true but the line closed at 4:30! I will not be coming back to this service station.

Edit: we stopped by today ( April 27) to make an appointment to check on our tires and the person at the desk went in the rain to look at our tires without an appointment and gave us some useful tips. I am modifying my review: if they are fair to us, then we are fair to them!A bunch of thieves.... but we are to blame because we have been giving them business for 10 years and always came back to them after we had issues with then. This time, we bought the two tires, brake pads/rotors, and bulbs ourselves and we still paid $425 because they charged us over $160 per hour in labor. Absolutely ridiculous!We live a mile away and always came back to them because its practical and we want to give business to the community, but if we have to drive several miles to previous garages that gave satisfaction, then so be it!
