Edit 8/30: I added one star for owner taking reviews seriously. I support local small businesses and most of the nurseries I go to are small local businesses. Being a small business does not mean jacking up prices is justified. There are many other ways to make more profits and expand the business. The Plant Shop in Seattle, which is also a boutique small plant store, offers great selections, great care and very reasonable prices. Why would anyone shop here???? The prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!! A tiny birkin is $39.99. Seriously? We are in Renton, not in Manhattan!! Even online with shipping, it is less than that! Please just do yourself a favor and drive 5 more mins to McLendon or Kent East Hill nursery. All the good reviews here seem fake to me.
I have been following Urban Sprouts on social media for a while now and just made my first purchases from them yesterday morning! Their website is so easy to navigate, I love the multiple pictures they have of each plant, planter and other items they offer as well as the option to add items to a wish list to come back to! I ordered three plants and one planter at 11:30 am and they were all HAND DELIVERED to my door (in Kent, WA) at 2 pm. I selected shipping for two of the plants and curbside pickup for the other plant yet they delivered all of my items to my door, saving me a trip to pick up the plant. I am so beyond impressed and in love with Urban Sprouts, its hard for me to not spend all day on their website scrolling through every plant and planter they offer! Thank you!!!
Great local shop with tons of gift options! I came in here looking for some Christmas gifts for the lady friend and came away super happy. The staff are extremely helpful, asking if I had an idea of what I wanted, what my budget was, what size? This all led to having a moderate sized terrarium custom made for me based on my input. Great experience! They have excellent candles, potted plants, air plants, jewelry, and card options as well. The store is really well done and enjoyable to experience. Thanks Urban Sprouts for making my day painless! I highly recommend.
This shop carries a good variety of plants, common and rare, and Jen (the owner) is amazing at what she does. I have bought some of my favorite plants here and Jen has rehabbed a few of my plants that have suddenly started having troubles. She always has good advice. Some of the plants are a little pricy, but it is well worth it to support such a great shop and owner
Ive already planned my next trip to this green, scented, paradise. Selection of amazing plant inspired jewelry, candles/soaps, container of most mid to mini sizes, and every accessory you could need to give their wide-ranging inventory of indoor plants a healthy home. Prices on many things lower than I anticipated after shopping in Seattle for years, and the staff were very knowledgeable without being obtrusive to the lingering and wandering experience. If I could, Id prefer to live here.
This place has an amazing atmosphere! They have a massive selection of plants to browse and the customer service is attentive and knowledgeable. Selection includes potted, mounted, air plants, aquatic plants and carnivorous plants to name a few.The store looks amazing inside too! With a modern wood and metal pipe look and tasteful displays. They even offer a plant repotting service so you can refresh your plant buddies while you take a look around.
My one experience with this store was great. Such a cute plant shop! They have a great selection of mostly house plants that range from sprouts to 5ft tall. Personally I bought some of their gold jewelry (still in great condition). One thing: a lady kept following me around the store constantly asking if I needed help finding anything…. I was with my friend so I would’ve appreciated being left alone the first time I said no…. not the fourth time. More annoying than harmful but why stick to me- help others or something 😅
What a nifty little shop! Plenty of interesting plants as well as unique gifts and some gems.
This is such a cute store. If they decided to put in a lounge area I would be here everyday! I am giving 4 stars for the prices. I wish it was more affordable. I would say if you are looking for a more specific plant this is the place to look. But not a store if you are on a budget. The staff is very friendly and helpful with anything you might need. They also have really cute pins and stickers which are hard to pass up. Plant accessories or decorations are unique here as well. Anything from tiny glass mushrooms or clay huts to gemstones and crystals. I will be visiting again for sure.
Cute place with a ton of variety for those looking for a find for splurge. However, prices are crazy higher then other local plant shops - even compared to downtown Seattle and hilltop. I love checking out new plant shops but was sad to leave empty handed because of the prices.
Great vibes, knowledgeable staff. Very cute products as well.
Love this store! Great selection of healthy plants, plenty of pots and other accessories, crystals, and even stickers and pins. Gotngreat advice when selecting a plant and they repotted my new plant friends in selected pots. Cant recommend enough!
Great selection, great advice, friendly staff, and packs quite the punch for gifts! A fantastic stop when youre in Old Renton. If youre still distancing, Urban Sprouts is definitely worthy of an IG follow for keeping your plant buddies healthy and for inspo! 💖
Very knowledgeable staff. They instantly knew what I needed to repot my plant down to the size and shape of the pot and type of soil I needed.
Great spot for all your houseplant needs!
Cute store, but the $55 bonsai I purchased was absolutely infested with millipedes. 🤮Edit after response from business:My initial review did not include any attempt by me to reach out to the business, I live out of state, but generally I expect plants I purchase from small boutique stores to not be infested with millipedes, especially when they costs $55. When google asks for reviews they do not specify have you, the reviewer, made every attempt to rectify the reason you may be dissatisfied with this business prior to posting a review? but simply my opinion on a business based on a purchase. I bought a plant, it had bugs, I dont like bugs in my plants, 2/5 stars. If its a one off occurrence, then the plenty of other happy customer reviews without bugs will outweigh one bad review, but that doesnt make my experience somehow not truthful, or invalid. Hope you have a good millipede free day!
They have a great variety of plants. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This is definitely the only plant store that I ever need now.
This is the place to go if you *love* indoor plants. The passion and enthusiasm is evident. The employees dont shrug and point you to a wall, like the megastores. You know you are getting good plants, accessories, advice and service here because of that passion. They want to show you how to take care of your indoor plants. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Had a great experience! Went in just curious and wanting to see what succulents they had. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. I learned a lot, got a few new succulents, and learned that when they need to be repotted, I can bring them in and have them do it or show me how to do it right. I look forward to visiting again in the future, and I already have some ideas for the plants I couldnt pick up this trip.
I really love coming here! I’ve gotten tons of beautiful plants (two of which I killed but I’m learning!) Every time I message them with a question they respond fairly quickly, and are always really helpful. The shop dog Waldo is also incredibly sweet and well-behaved and I love seeing him there.(Not all of the plants pictured are from Urban Sprouts)
I have ordered online from here a few times. Their leaf polish is my go to! I usually like to stock up a bit because a lot of my plants have giant leaves and the bottle is small. So I go through it more often then I think. They also have a great plant selection! Ive added a few photos of them now but forgive me for the quality. Some of these were little 4 inch babies (like my rubber tree) when I got them and they are thriving!
I’m not local to Urban Sprouts, but do follow them on social media and have had them ship to me. Their customer service is always the best. They always reply to me quickly and make sure all my questions are answered. There’s so much helpful information about plant care on their social media. They make sure to always engage with their customers. Their plants are top quality!
Nice selection. Not inexpensive but nice store
Beautiful store with ridiculous prices. You wont find anything here if your looking for something cheap. Alot of the crystals here were over priced.
Amazing plants, Amazing staff, very dangerous store, the possibility of spending a lot of money is high
Cute shop for sure very modern and gives off all the peaceful vibes. They have good variety but also have a few tools like pruning shears and fertilizer you can buy as well.
This is THE BEST local plant business in Washington and my personal favorite plant store of all time! I first found them on Instagram and was so stoked when I found out they were local! Their social media platform and website is amazing and their plants are the absolute best!! They make sure if there’s any issues (like bugs or not so great roots) they won’t send the plants out if they don’t think they’ll thrive in your home! Also the owner is super knowledgeable about any and everything plants. I thank them for all I know and strongly recommend her book “the inspired houseplant” as well - especially for beginners!!
I ordered plants to be delivered and they sent a half dead plant, didn’t respond to my email, or replace the plant. Kind of disappointed looks like a cute store.
This store is beautiful and has a great selection. The person who helped me pick out a plant during my visit was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is my new go to plant stop.
I found this shop through word of mouth and Instagram and it has been such a great experience! The owner, Jen, has responded to so many of my questions and truly cares about her customers and plant education! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a full intimate experience choosing and purchasing a new baby for their home.
The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I always get exactly what I need and find lots of new treasures and plant babies to love.
Sorry, this is going to be the longest review:Cute store with a lot of good plant selections and staffs are nice. Price is higher than other stores to be honest for most plants, and their pots are pretty expensive. I purchased 4 plants, couple of pots and soil from this store in past few months and there has been success but unfortunately more failures for me.. :( The reason for the failure is the soil they use. I know it is supposed to be a good organic soil, it smells good and fresh but it is definitely not suitable for indoor plants where plants dont get as much sunlight and air circulation. If you buy plants from the store I would not recommend to get it repotted in store for the same reason. Most indoor plants need very well draining soil but the plants I had repotted in store or the ones I repotted myself using the soil I got from them ALL failed. It just would not dry and its organic so it caused serious fungus and fungus gnat issues every single time, I had to try and go through all sort of things like hydrogen peroxide, mosquito bits, sticky traps and etc.. Other than fungus gnats the soil started to show all kinds of soil bugs that I didnt even know what they were. The staffs will say they are just bugs living in organic soil and they are safe but I really dont need a pot infested with all kinds of bugs in my room. I had a small rubber tree in 5 inch ceramic pot sitting right in front of my south west facing window (bought and repotted in store). The soil took 3 weeks to be maybe 70% dried during summer and of course the plant didnt do well and dropped leaves. Even with a lot of pumice added, my 2 succulents that lived for 2 years on the same spot got root rot and died, and other plants as well were all not growing or slowly dying and with fungus gnats always flying around them so I ended up just repotting all of them again with different soil. The only ones that are doing well in their soil are the one that I keep outdoor and couple of plants that I potted in terracotta pots with a lot of extra pumice added. When I asked them what kind of soil they use for succulents, because I ordered a sanseveria plant from them, the staff told me that they use only one kind of soil that will work for all kinds of plants. I have never heard such magic soil ever existed and its very misleading. Maybe some people living in a very very bright and dry indoor environment are okay with their soil, I dont know. It just never worked for me and caused a lot of trouble and stress.
I got my first urban sprout plant (terrarium) as a gift from my sister several years ago. It took me until a little over a year ago to actually go into the store. The store is welcoming, and the staff is helpful. I’ve purchased several lovely gifts, plants for my self, and even taken a struggling plant in for some TLC! I’ve used their insta messaging to help me know how to make my plants happier and healthier! And I love their weekly games that teach me about plants/add new plants to my wishlist. I love that I’m supporting local shopping their and know I am getting the highest quality service AND plants!
Website has a beautiful layout that is easy to use. I placed and order and called to get more info. I wasn’t sure how curbside service worked. Danny picked up my call right away, he was super nice, answered all my questions. I can’t wait for this quarantine to be over with so I can stop in. The store is beautiful. Thanks again Danny for all your help!
Bought a $40 Hoya hindu rope. Sure glad I quarantined it when I got it home to AK. Mealy bugs are big! :(
This is my local plant store, and they’ve managed to turn me into a total plant addict. My first plant was a fiddle leaf fig, which is apparently not an easy houseplant. But with Jen’s help, my tree is now doubled in size and has been growing for four years strong!I’ve shopped at almost every single plant nursery in the Seattle area, and urban sprouts is above and beyond the most beautifully decorated, and most diversely stocked in the area.I also really love that you can call or message them about help with any plant you have, wether you bought it there or not. Their commitment to the health of your plants is truly unique.I think what truly turned me into a successful plant parent is their terrarium class. Having the knowledge about why the health of your soil is so important, has been the cornerstone of my plant journey. If you’re a new plant parent I strongly urge you to take one of their classes. You’ll gain so much knowledge and confidence!
Beautiful shop. Smells wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
This place is amazing!!! Ive been to the Renton location a couple times and Im totally hooked!! Everyone that works at the store has been so helpful, very friendly, and knowledgeable! I will definitely be coming back. This might be one of my new favorite places!
I wouldn’t recommend buying plants from here. Better off going to Lowe’s or Home Depot or better yet a complete different mom and pop plant shop I’m all for supporting local but these guys did not do the job. They sent me two dead plants and refuse to do anything but have someone help me nurse it back to health via chat... These plants are unsalvageable and we’re the moment i opened them . They’re policy is if they are re-potted they cannot be replaced . Understandable, however they we’re actually DOA. All jokes aside, I literally planted dead plants, in hopes for some life to come to them, but as expected, nothing. I don’t leave reviews ever, matter of fact this is my very first google review, but I wanted to make sure others don’t continue to be ripped off by these people.
Pretty pricey, plants were about double what I’ve seen them for in other shops. Cute little store though and friendly staff.
Lots of plants and pots and tons of other little gifts. If you buy a plant and planter, they will pot it in new pot for you, plus box up nicely if a gift or just for better transport.
Jen and her staff are knowledgeable, nonjudgmental, personable, and fun to chat with. I’ve been a regular customer here for 2+ years and keep coming back for my plant fix and repotting needs. Every time I have a plant question or concern, I send a message and photo and always receive a quick response, typically in 3 hours or less. No message or concern has ever gone unanswered. For 2 years I had searched for a begonia wightii maculata (now they are fairly easy to find, but for a good 3 years or so it was difficult to locate...) and I mentioned to Jen how much I wanted one. A few weeks later 2 arrived at her shop and one came home with me. 🥰This shop is great for: learning, browsing, picking up a thoughtful, last minute gift, and giving your home a refresh.
Absolutely the best plant store I have ever been to. Reasons why: extensive plant selection, very cute shop, knowledgeable staff, great Instagram account, on-demand plant advice, a fantastic published plant book...this shop has it all!
I LOVE THIS STORE! I had been in a few times pre-COVID and they always have the kindest and most knowledgeable staff. They have a huge selection of plants and everything you might need for your plant life, with some extra goodies like jewelry, stickers and pins. They’ve kept my plant addiction alive through COVID with the availability to shop online and fast delivery. I love them! I’ll be a long time customer here.
Love this place. Finally made it there! Friendly staff ! Amazing things! I could spend all day there .
The shop is amazing. There is tremendous value for the quality of service and aftercare you get. An experience from start to finish. I highly recommend.
Very helpful employees. We took a couple of classes and enjoyed them. Their prices are a bit $$ compared to other local plant stores. Our plants died about 4 months later even with proper conditions and watering. All 4 participants had their plants died a few months later. Were avid gardeners and generally have no issue with our plants.Ive used the experience to build other terrariums utilizing plants and supplies from other vendors and theyre going strong.
My friends and I did a super fun yoga, mimosas and terrarium building class this morning in the store. Nick, taught us how to build the terrariums. He was very knowledgeable about the plants and the placement of said plants in each terrarium. Kaitlin, the yoga instructor, gave us a wonderful class beforehand. She was very calming and made it a great way to start the day. We drank mimosas while we built the terrariums. It was a really fun morning with my girlfriends.Every other time I have been in the store, it has been an exceptional experience. They have a very wide selection of plants, pots, healing crystals and fun gifts. I’d highly recommend this establishment.
This is the cutest place for plants shopping.. 😊
Such a cute, magical store! So many plant varieties, cute pots, and other gifts. They were friendly and helpful and I love that they potted the plant for me!! Cant wait to go back for more.
Great people here -- kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Great selection of a variety of plants and containers. Most are smaller plants, but some are larger. In addition to plants, there are other related craft and decorating items. They share their expertise by offering outstanding classes on how to build terrariums and other fun things. These classes are a great way to learn and meet others with similar interests. Only problem is they need better signage outside -- it is easy to walk right past it without seeing it.
A bit of a pricey place but I am so impressed with the selection/variety and the health/quality of the plants Id say its worth it. I found a lot of plants I havent been able to find at Lowes or Home Depot like elephant ears and a sizable selection of air plants (my favorites!). I also really enjoy the atmosphere here, its very cozy. Will definitely be visiting again!
I am an inexperienced plant owner, but wanted to give a plant a proper environment to thrive. The staff member took time to ask about the level of sunlight, climate control, and time commitment I could make. Her level of knowledge about the recommended requirements of the plant was impressive. They didnt require I buy anything extra. A month later the plant is doing great.
Ive only shopped here a few times but this is an awesome trendy plant shop! I love the atmosphere the style and staff are nice. Ive have visited around 10 different nursery and plant shop in WA this is now one of my top favorites. They have your basic, on trend and more rare plants. I collect houseplants especially the more rare varieties Ive been able to get some great finds for a lot cheaper then ordering online, having to pay for shipping and dealing with the stress of worrying.
Sold me an expensive cinnamon tree he planted himself in a pot I bought at the same time, and the planting was so bad that the plant retained all the water at the bottom of the pot without any possibility to drain. Offered to help by texts or emails but never did... I lost $300+ and will never come back again, although the service was nice and courteous.EDIT: Absolutely, you did answer for a moment, I must give you that. However you stopped when it was obvious the roots had rotten from how you re-planted it in the planter we bought. Heres attached what our conversation currently looks like, been waiting for an answer for 2 months.
Their crafts are super fun! Great and friendly staff that are eager to come and help. Such great energy from these people. The craft ideas that they have offered are great ideas for friend dates 🤗 really enjoyed my time.
Love this place I had a plant that I lost the tag to didn’t know what it was and didn’t know how to care for it.Sent a pic to Urban Sprout they replied ASAP with name and care. They have a beautiful shop u must visit!!!!
Cute, fun, full of fantastic plants, and helpful staff. All in all, amazing.
This is a cool place. Theres an interesting mix of retail items - handmade soaps, local honey, air plants, terrariums, etc. They also do fun classes - build your own terrarium, make your own marshmallows, etc. My wife and I took a class on making our own soaps. It was a ton of fun and super affordable.
Very nice selection and incredibly knowledgable and friendly staff.
I really enjoyed our plant night, we worked with cactuses and succulents. Nick our teacher for the night was very friendly and knowledgeable about the plants we were working with and was very accommodating to the group. Other than the prices being a little high, which is understandable your paying for quality, it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place to friends for a class or even popping in with your own plants for help replanting or care advice.
I love and hate this store. Their selection is fantastic. Theres a lot of plants here you just cant find in normal garden centers. I give it 3 stars because I dont feel that the staff is very knowledgeable. Each time I buy a new plant I ask for care advice, then when I get home and Google it I find the Internet unanimously disagrees with their advice. Last time I went I found one last very sad mimosa plant. I asked about it, hoping for a discount, and I was talked to as if I didnt know what a sensitive plant was. This plant wasnt just folded up, all the leaves were yellow and shriveled up. If you cant tell when a plant is sad, I think Im done getting advice from you. Normally I would not downrate a shop for bad advice, but this shop holds classes and workshops, so it matters
I really want to give more stars for this review but the follow up and communication promised by the owner and her staff is nothing short of non-existent.We had a great time building terrariums a few weeks ago, but when we had a few questions about them a few weeks after purchasing them we have received no responses....yes, that is plural because we have left emails and phone messages for the owner, Jen, with no response. Now our plants (almost $400 worth) are dying and we get NO SERVICE and NO ADVICE from her or her staff.Do not be fooled by the “car salesman” pitch during purchase, there is no follow up and no support after you walk out the door the first time.
Great little store good selection one thing I wish they had where isopods and springtails for a bio active setup but great store overall very peaceful
Been a fan of this place ever since they were in Ballard. The Renton location is amazing! Big store with tons in stock, and everyone there is super friendly.
Service oriented, very knowledgeable. Anything you need they are always happy to try to accomodate.Have tons of public and private classes and events. Pretty up your home, office, and life with unique and custom plants and crafts.
Excellent customer service. The employees are very knowledgeable and very kind. There is a good variety of foliage and beautiful terrariums. I give Urban Sprouts 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Urban Sprouts has a ton of fun and original gifts and indoor plants and decorations for anyone. Its trendy, its simple, its cute. I have told basically everyone I know about this gem in DT Renton. Everyone who works there is so sweet and has a lot of knowledge, especially Jen, the owner. The options are endless. You can make your own creation, or they can help you make something perfect for your home, office, desk, or anywhere else you can think of. Two thumbs up!!!!
The staff is awesome! AMAZING plants.
Love this store! Jen is super helpful and nice! And the plants are amazing
Only place I go for my plants and all the accessories I need!
Lovely store with a great selection of indoor plants. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Great place for urban growing! The owner is very nice and their yoga + mimosas is a great time!
My new favorite store!!! I never knew it existed walked right past it every time. Until we went to the Renton Wine Walk and this was a stop... They have classes and awesome cute ideas.. Took my mom here today and she loved it!! My new obsession so he being in this store AIR PLANTS!! #IloveRenton
Myself and two friends went to a carnivorous terrarium class. We bought distilled water and the special fertilizer. Within a month all our plants were dead. It was a very expensive lesson. I emailed twice for advice and got no response. All in all it was very disappointing.
Fun plant shop with a great selection. Best part is the people who work there are friendly and helpful, I will be back for more plants soon!
I came to Urban Sprouts to celebrate my friends birthday. We each made a teruraium. It was a fun night!
Very cool place! Tons of succulents and accessories!
Great selection and friendly staff, they really helped me out!
Very friendly and knowledgable. Great classes too!
Beautiful store!
Nice people and great selection of items.
Overpriced and Groupon event was very misleading.
Amazing place.
Fun
