I love the knowledge and customer service Renton McLendons offers. This is my #1 go to store for all home improvements and nursery.McLendons is my Home Nordstrom.

Today I came to check the deck materials and sliding door types...etc. The inside of the store is neat and tidy, and all employees greet everyone nicely.Of course, everyone wears masks.Deck samples are free and I asked for a quote. I also got a quote for the sliding door. The price was a little higher than other shops, but the person in charge was very nice and knowledgeable.I have ordered 5 windows before. At that time, I also asked for installation. You can customize the size of the window and you can also consult about installation.You can also get a quote or order by email.The inside of the store is arranged in an easy-to-see manner, making it easy to find what you need. In the gardening corner outside, it is the gardening season with plants, bulbs, etc.You will surely find what you need in Mclendon Hardware.

Besides having higher prices than almost any other store, I recently noticed a serious security/privacy issue at this store. While trying on a pair of Carhartt jeans in the dressing room, I looked up to find a SECURITY CAMERA directly above the dressing room!!! NOT COOL. I asked to speak with a manager to report the issue. The MOD, Sherry (sorry if misspelled), informed me those cameras didn’t work and she would have them removed. She said the cameras were changed in the last few years and the old ones never came down. Seems like an odd thing for a hardware store to be years behind on maintenance; but I digress. I am posting this review in as many places as possible to ENSURE these cameras come down.

Great place for supplies and more. Their product depth is much better than the box stores and its local. The staff is willing to help you find what you need and knowledgeable on how to use it.

Maybe we should call the store McGrinch not Mclendon.Employees are not very friendly, rude and dont know any knowledge of what they are selling in the Garden area, some are not price tag, some are mis-price, some plants are exactly the same, but has different price tags and some does not have tags or barcodes at all. I remember one time, I asked the staff from the garden counter about the Coffee plant. I asked her that would this grow into a tree and bare fruits? She happily replied, I dont know its a Coffee plant so I suppose. Well, thanks for your product knowledge!Garden section cashiers are always rude except the Younger caucasian cashier that is always on the right side as you face them, sorry some does not have a name tag.I was about to pay all of my purchases and one of the items price is not correct, so I told her that I can show you all of this same item on the shelf and the price tag. She said she cannot help me, so I took back all my items and went to the Garden counter to ask for help, I was told that the items was in the wrong spot. Really!! all of those about a dozen of the same exact item on the shelf with the price tag? End up not getting it. So I went to the front cashiers since the cashier in the garden area cannot help me.While I was second in the line to pay my items, the cashier respectfully told me that the other cashier could also help me (Thank you for that) But while I walked pass by that other register to go pay for my items to the first register, I did not see any second person cashier present in her register 🤷‍♂️. So that was I was told that the other cashier could help me too.Hello second cashier! if you would at least let your presence known 🙋‍♀️ by asking the customers if you could help them!So I went in to her register, No greetings of whatsoever, all I heard is your total is $$. Then I told her that the plant was only $4.99 but I saw that there was $5.99 (well yeah I know its only a dollar that I shouldnt dispute right? But with all of this bs) she replied thats what it register. So one by one Ive shown her the price tags and I was told it was mis-price and rolled her eyes and corrected the price 😒 Very Nice. Thats one thing I do when shopping, pay attention to the cash register to see if the price are correct on the item your buying.I mean the money I spent buying stuff from the Renton Branch, all you get are these B.S. Common Mclendon hire a little energetic employees that have an energy to help your customers, store always seems dead as soon as you walked in the store, no employees to greet you or to ask and if there is, rudeness you will get. I must admit that your Plants and tools are more selections and others dont carry. But your prices are not competitive and a bit higher than Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart and I think will not come back to your store since all these experiences I received as a come back Customer? Will be happy to share with our Community! 🙂

I usually go to McLinden for small purchases or items I can’t find anywhere else. Today I went there for A purchase that I would normally make at Home Depot or Lowe’s.Recently I’ve Been making an effort not the shop at those stores anymore because I no longer feel comfortable shopping there.Even though McClendons prices may be a little higher on some items I am willing to pay the extra to help support a local business that treats all customers with dignity.Today I met a store manager named Derrick Who was very helpful and friendly.He gave me a small discount to compensate for the extra cost I paid shopping there As opposed to one of your competitors, but that’s not my reason for writing this review.I would have bought it anyway.Derrick receive me as a customer and treated me in a way that I am sure he would like to be treated.I hesitate to shop at the other stores because of the anxiety and discomfort associated with being Treated like a suspect.If you are interested in A better understanding for training purposes The Netflix original Colin in black-and-white Gives great perspective.Because of managers like Derrick and stores like McClendon, the down-home hardware store We used to hang out at in the 80s like Ernst still exist.

Tom in the tool Dept. Rocks...they helped with with choosing the right Hedger & made sure they took good care of me. Way better than a Box Store

McLendons is top notch, hands down. Staff Is knowledgeable (for the most part) friendly, what they didnt have they got a part number for me so I could order it.... review in s nutshell, so much more positive to say. Guess Ill save it for next time.

Was sold a defective piece of merchandise and when I returned it they seemed bothered. I will not call out the employees on here but if you want names let me know. After 15 years, I would pass 3 hardware stores just to go to McLendons. After this interaction I will not waste my gas or time.

Jake in the Garden Department helped me out a lot! Spent nearly an hour just helping me pick out plants. They also have very well maintained plants, they are all incredibly healthy and well-maintained.

Customer service was A+ knowledgeable and friendly. fun store to walk around and has a surprisingly large women’s workwear section.

I have checked so many places for deck hooks to hang baskets. At McLendon a awesome man named Charlie helped me find two. He stopped what he was doing listen to what I needed (I talk with my hands and call them thingy) but he understood and came through for me. Big kudos to him!!!!!!

My experience with McLendon Home Services started off fine but ended badly.I collected seven estimates for my whole-home window and exterior door replacement project. I chose another company to replace the windows and selected MHS to replace the doors as they offered the Codel doors Id decided upon at a good price, and the sales person was consistent at answering questions and following up.Front entry order and installation was great! Occurred on the expected timeline and the contracted installer was fantastic!However, even after two measurement appointments the second entry door was ordered at the wrong width and installer wasnt able to install it. An annoying occurrence and hard to believe that could happen but were in a pandemic and many things are off.But then, McLendon asked me to pay the remainder of my estimated costs minus 10% as incentive to make sure they complete the project. Original agreement was to pay 50% at time of order then remainder upon project completion; the payment configuration that MHS requested is typically reserved for when a project is completed but may still need some minor adjustments. I refused.I receive a call mid-August to inform that my door should arrive mid-September. I send a quick email mid-September to inquire about my project status and get word that my door should be arriving within days. I email a week later asking for an update (another project was dependent on this one being completed) and no response. I email again a week later to ask for an update, this time including other folks from MHS with whom Id communicated, and get a call to say that my door is in and installer would be there Monday!Installer shows up on time but this time McLendon Home Services ordered the wrong door. Same great installer tries to troubleshoot (Im sure he was uncomfortable!) and leaves. I email McLendon to inform of this and request a refund as the work completed was less than the deposit paid. Someone else from MHS called to apologize and did process my refund, though no one Id communicated with as part of my project responded. And now I have to start from square one, five months later.I DO NOT recommend McLendon Home Services -- never had such a bad experience with any company for anything.For windows (and Im sure this would be applicable to any door project), I HIGHLY recommend Lake Washington Windows & Doors as I had a seamless end-to-end experience and am very happy with final results!

Been shopping here for a long time and the customer service is not consistent. Sometimes you feel welcomed and get good service, other times you either get ok service. Unfortunately the last few times Ive been there the customer service was neither good or ok. It felt like it was a pain for them to ring up my purchase... Like I said, not consistent.

Super cool store. Super shady neighborhood. Every time we go in there, someone is yelling at someone else and today there was a screaming match. Its so bad I went with 2 stars. I asked someone who works there if they had outdoor rugs and without looking up from her phone, she said maybe over there but I doubt it... 😐

Ive been shopping at the Renton location for 10+ years. Love the fabulous healthy plants, and selection of ceramic flower pots. Ive used curbside pickup for dirt, mulch and cement blocks. Ive even had a screen door rescreened. The personnel has been helpful for finding items I need. But recently I had an issue in one of the departments regarding signage posting a 50% discount. I actually went up to an employee to verify the price and he confirmed. I placed the large item in my cart and continued shopping. When I went to check out the sale item did not ring up at the 50% discount. I said there is signage for the discount and I even confirmed with an employee. The checkout gal made a call to the department and said, NO the item is not on sale. I decided to head back to the department to double check the signs and talk to them. When I arrived two employees were present. Clearly the gal with the attitude was the department head and said my item was not on sale. I walked over to where the signage was and she told me she took the signage down, it was not on sale. The other employee who I had spoke to earlier said he was sorry. To make a long story short I could tell he felt bad and clearly was visibly upset. I told him its not your fault Im sure you were following the departments requests. At this point the gal could have and should have said she was sorry for the mistake and confusion. BUT NO.... she proceeded to say it wasnt her fault and the department would loose money...blah blah blah. She had a major attitude happening. I decided not to fight it and asked if they could take the large item out of my cart. The gal refused to move but the young man did remove the item and put it back on the shelf. I turned to leave and the gal said ONE MORE COMMENT TO ME!! I turned and looked at her and said, please call your manager. We waited in silence. The manager, Bobby arrived and he immediately was reading the situation before either one of us spoke. I proceeded to tell him about the signage and was interrupted once by the gal but a look from the manger and my hand being raised stopped her from speaking. Bobby handled the situation professionally and quickly. I was pleased with the out come. I thanked him and shook his hand. I was impressed. My only advise, promote the young man and put the gal back in customer service training. I will gladly continue to spend my money at McLendons Hardware store. I will continue to purchase and rave about your wonderful plants.

Im a general contractor, I prefer to come here to support a local store. The other day I had a really bad experience at this store. I was accused of stealing an ítem. I was followed and treated as a criminal, I was accused of something without any proof. I have never been treated this way in my life. I will no longer come to this store, I will give my business to someone else.

Plumbing expert knew what I was looking for, even though I do not know plumbing parts names! He just went by my cryptic description!!

Brought back a defective item with the receipt. Was told that I need to bring it to the Kent store because that is where I purchase it from. I have been shopping at McClendon for years now. Trying to support local businesses and this is what I get. What happened to there no hassle return and exchange policy?

My husband bought some ladybugs, sadly they died the next day. He was able to bring them back the next day to show they did in fact die and was able to get a full refund.

1st visit to Renton location. I was impressed with the variety of plants in the nursery.I also used the curbside pickup and the workers were friendly and helpful.

Rude management and staff, lost my business! I was doing a simple return for a gas camp stove that was leaking propane and they made me jump through hoops,waited in line 30+mins to be told I couldnt return it without a receipt, cashier didnt bother to lookup sku or get the same stove from the shelf. Had to call a manager, who seemed bothered by my cry for help. Ive been shopping at Mclendons for all my business needs but this store (Renton)turned me off for good!

Ive always gone to Mccleandon for anything evolving building things. Ive always had a good luck with their personnel helping me with questions. But, this one particular day I was building a desk from scratch and I had the plans in my head on how I was going to put it together. I had trouble with lumber. So, Shawn from lumber helped me out. He spent almost an hour and a half cutting, helping me pick out the lumber and with the dimensions of the desk and how it was going to look. He even went out of his way to help me with screws and paint! I am truly grateful to Shawn I hope he gets recognized for being a wonderful person that is also very knowledgeable and helpful!

Great local hardware store. The staff knows the area and can help you plan gardens, select paint or find the right bird seed for the native population. They also have a great selection of seasonal things and some of the harder to find items that the chain stores dont carry.

It was fun to shop at McLemdons! Got mom a mail box enjoyed looking at all the cool stuff, and lots of sale items!

Every department has a pro when you need help at McLendons Hardware you will get Top Notch help from people who know what theyre talking about thats what I love about McLendons

Place has a feel like its slipping away - wanted to buy a multi tool and wanted the good old McLendon hardware opinion as to what to buy because there are so many - walked in to tools - gal said she didnt work in that dept and had no idea what a multi tool was - plumbing - past the plumbing guy on way to his dept - fugured someone there was relieving him or he would be right back - so sale - stood back there for 1//2 hour waiting - so I walked to front of store (no small feat becuse the place is huge) and had someone page a plumbing guy - in fairness the guy that arrived was helpful and knowledgeable .. phone calls to store: see attached .. 1 hour and still never connected to dept ! Screw this place - I am done and they are not cheap either - McLendon - fill your customers in what value are you bringing to this competitive arena, besides the privileges of shopping in a Seattle landmark ? Photo: 1 hour wait and still no answer !!

This is your old-fashioned hardware store on steroids. It smells great, it feels great to be in, and itss clean. Everyone is very helpful and there are emoloyees everywhere.I hate Lowes for their nasty emoloyees and their dirty stores. I am no Home Depot fan as they lack any form of professionalism, but I do love McKendons.I own rentals and do real estate flips. Its a good place with a lot of hardware, houseware, plumbing and lighting supplies. Not as much selection as in a big-box hardware store; more like a corner hardware store on steroids. The prices are probably a little higher than a big-box or online too, but theres a lot to be said for a good ol brick-and-mortar store thats easy to get to and has knowledgeable staff. Even if they close up by 8 PM! 😁

Best screw selection out of most Hardware stores. They carry things that Tacoma screw doesnt even have. Great staff, knowledgable people. I go here for most everything and get the sale items at Lowes or Home depot.

I like coming here because you can tell they care more about you than what youll find a the big box stores. Youll be able to find everything youre looking for inside, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are also helpful if you cant find something, just ask. I have bought a bunch of tools and knick knacks here. Great parking lot, solid location. Go here instead of Home Depot, seriously.

I like the assistance I get when I have a plumbing question.The part of my experience I wish they would improve is changing there system to allow returns with just a refund to the debit card like the big box stores are doing. Who keeps track of there receipts which you need if you want a refund.

Awesome as always! I bought a cheap couch and decided to create some support for it using plywood and foam. I first went to Home Depot and couldn’t get any help! I rarely do home projects and am not super comfortable in hardware stores. While in HD I called McLendon, the associate who answered the phone walked me through exactly what materials I needed and let me know their process for cutting plywood for customers. I literally, walked out of line at HD and headed straight for McLendon! Got lovely knowledgable, patient service and was in/out in an efficient manner! Save yourself the headache and just go to McLendon!

Always frustrated when you cant find a single person in the store and garden to help you! When you do finally find someone they look at you like you are speaking a different language! Dont have a clue what you want and cant find anyone who does! Also when I go in to specially get something on their ad and they dont have it, dont know when it will come in and dont give rainchecks!

Friendly employees, store layout makes sense, lots of cool stuff. I always walk out with something I can really use and didnt know I needed. They have a complete inventory to do any job around the house. They focus on quality rather being cheap.

Theyve got everything youd need for any type of home repair, and they have a decent automotive section. If you need Bondo or JB weld for fabrication, car cleaning products if you need to fix something at home or in the vehicle pretty good chance theyll have it. Little more cost comparison to Home Depot / Lowes I think theyre more expensive but they ha e front row parking for vets and offer a %10 discount.

This is why I hardware store still exist. The staff here are so friendly and helpful. Both the electrical and plumbing departments have very knowledgeable staff who will provide you all of the correct tools and how to use them. They also provide detailed descriptions on what you need need to do. Granted this still depends on your own personal level of skill and willingness to learn. The expert in plumbing also didnt try to upsell me or some extra unnecessary equipment or supplies. He provided me exactly what I needed to get the job done. I only wish they had a slightly better selection and increase stock of various items otherwise I would go to them all the time.

Love it. My first visit after years of driving by. After trying every other place, they had exactly what I was looking for! Great place with olden days charm. I will go here first next time. Better selection and 10xs better quality than you know where!

I like McClendons and once in awhile you can find someone who knows where stuff is. They were friendly. Even to the mean lady behind me who didnt understand why she should go to customer service to exchange something.

They have good experts in each department. They run their stock a little lean though.

This is one of the biggest McLendon hardware store. The expertise, the products and even sometimes the prices are superior to the 2 big national brands.

Very good variety of things from building supplies to plants & everything in between. Very nice people that work there also. Would definitely recommend.

McLendons is where I go when I cant find specific items, like moss killer for the roof. I made the mistake of waiting too long and Costco was out. But, McLendons had it. Plus, they have a huge selection for bird lovers like feeders and seed. Spring bulbs are on sale now. I always buy suet for winter. I was able to pick up stuff I need this fall and winter.

They are usually always helpful. i have one specific gal that I look for. She is a 10 in her work ethic and customer service. Always a pleasure.
