The customer service is awful. I went to check out and no one was at the register. Every employee I saw was on their cell phone. I bought potato salad and it was sandy. Have you heard of cleaning your food before you cook it? Honestly this place is cute and has potential but it seems like the management is very poor.

Come here for my food shopping therapy. Store is very organized, clean and a outstanding courteous staff.Loads of healthy great tasting items, plus they support local farmers and businesses. My only con is, occasionally their produce prices are high for my budget. But, produce is very healthy and clean organic, farm freshness.Try the Vegan cinnamon buns, vegan fresh soups, chia parfait, Sweet potato, with kale and pinto beans salad.

This place should be called FEED THE RICHI reviewed this place few months ago, as soon as I arrived to Reno. I was happy that they have nice product and i gave them 4 stars. Now after months and after knowing better the grocery and farmers scene of Reno i fell the need to write another review (my old one is still below here). On my way on the Co-op I stopped at a farmer tent (a real farmer and not those fancy hipster that are running the co-op pretending that they are helping farmers) and I got zucchini and eggplants (both 2 for 1$, honest price for honest food). At the Co-op i got milk, bread and a very small watermelon, basic grocery, nothing fancy and nothing that should be too expensive... I spent 18.84$. I believe that this is at the edge of fraud and is basically stealing money. The price that they apply do not represent at any level the real cost of the products, they are overcharging and they are responsible for the fact that good food is a privilege for rich people. Those people are a disgrace for the food market and especially for farmers. Do your grocery from real farmers and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMERS and not people that are just lucratively using the word farmerProducts are good and local, even if the choice is limited.Price are high, as usual in these organic farm based grocery shops, and it is a shame, real food is a basic right, it can not be a luxury item. Farmers and shops has the responsibility to make real food accessible for most people possible. Community must come before business!!

The GM is quite the human, resilient, compassionate and well spoken. She can help with understanding the food system and watershed and sheds great light on the needs of the local economy in northern Nevada. Her thirst for helping her staff grow as people is beautiful. I guess it helps that the coop brings in amazing products, listens to members and helps our local farmers. 10/10 stars, shop here.

The great Basin community food co-op is a really awesome and authentic place. They use locally grown food and all organic food. Its very fresh and they have quite a lot of stuff in there. The staff are all very kind people. Upstares they have this café that serves organic food that caters to every diet. The food was delicious. This place and the Cafe are a little on the pricy side. But I suppose thats the price we have to pay to eat organic.

Great Basin Community Food Co-op is an amazing resource for consumers who are looking to reduce their waste. They have an awesome selection of loose bulk tea, spices, foods, and liquids. They encourage you to bring your own containers, and they are accustomed to taring out the weight for customers. Eggs are sold individually, if you want it, and extra egg cartons are at the ready if youve forgotten yours. The cafe upstairs is happy to use your own to go container if you ask when ordering, and they also offer refillable glasses for water consumed in store. This place is a Godsend! Although I think the co-op is amazing with fair prices, Im writing this review based on the Food Shed Cafe. The food is amazing! Delicious. Good portions. Something for everybody - vegans, vegetarians, carnivores, etc. And great prices when you compare them to mostly organic restaurants nationwide. The only place who labels their food to such an extent is Erewhon Market in LA - the celebrity supermarket that makes Whole Foods look like a discounter. Everything at Watershed is 1/2 to 1/3 of their price. And everybody who works there is kind and helpful!

Somewhat pricey but I’m on an anti-inflammatory diet & have a lot of food allergies (that seem to be in everything) so I’m thankful this place is here! Really wish there were more places like this around. Four stars because I feel like the the cafe needs to have customization options or at least separate vegetables. Also maybe a list of (exact) ingredients for ALL items. That way people with diet restrictions don’t have to ask for all the details. The staff don’t really know specifics so it can be troublesome. Really great food though!! One person was really nice and helpful to me and put together something I could eat and it was amazing. Next time I went.. not so much. I was just annoying to this other person I guess. A little bummed considering it’s connected to a grocery store that focuses so much on diet and allergies. Hoping it’ll get better with that in time though. I’ll become a regular then!

Too much packaging in the fridge section next to the registers for sandwiches and such. waisted one time use plastic got one vegan rice wrap and it was very hard couldnt even eat it! But upstairs! Bring your old jars and leave them for others to use or refill yours and maybe with this place you can be on a journey to a plastic free life! Words alone cannot begin to scratch the surface of the most auspicious experience I suffered to prolong as I leisurely browsed the high quality socially conscious consumer products so tastefully arranged in such a small space. As I gracefully attempted to not run into the elderly or children, or brush elbows or behinds with the middle aged or post adolescents, I was in a state of timeless awe as I explored such hidden oasis of fine top shelf products. I already knew I went there to get some brown rice and french lentils, but everything there seems so interesting. I must be patient god dammit, I whispered to myself; I hope I dont freak out up in here. The dude at the cash register, who i often see and who i hopefully dont creep out, greeted me with a familiar knod as mine eyes adjusted to the friendly, golden ambiance. What fine cooking products might I stumble upon this day?

Sure, prices may be higher than other stores with lower quality products but when comparing other organic grocers in the area, GBCFCO tends to have comparable prices and the best quality. I ate in the cafe and it was kinda a sad experience. The chocolate pudding was disgusting very watery and gross, the chicken soup had non existent chicken with almost no veggies in it, it was basically just broth and was extremely bland yet flavored with chili Which was spicy and weird for chicken soup it was very non traditional! I left there thinking to myself what the heck did I just pay $40 for? At least the tuna melt was really good. If Im gonna pay 20 each for two people to eat very little I’d of at least expect higher quality in general. I’d expect to pay these kinda prices in the bay and at least get something good - totally not worth it. The people working there were nice though. Also the fact that there was really no parking and they had a sign threatening to tow you unless you were a shopper only (if you were visiting the cafe it didnt count) and you only got to park for 30 min max was pretty lame sounding. I actually parked around the corner but after putting almost a dollar in the meter it nearly ran out before i could get to it after only 20 min. I didnt realize Reno was so lame.
