I am looking to sell/trade my car and was sent to Boardwalk VW via 99Drive.Upon arrival a sales rep briefly looked at my vehicle (for less than a minute), took note of the vin and came back a few minutes later with an offer that was almost $5000 below what KBB or Carfax are listing my vehicle for. I tried to push back but only got a lengthy explanation why this offer is in fact a very good one and that my expectations are totally out of line.So I left and only realized at home when checking the offer again that in fact it wasnt for my car at all. The vin used isnt mine and it is for the 2-door version - I have the 4-door model.So actually two people working in the automotive industry failed to notice the difference between a 2-door and a 4-door and they also failed to notice the difference in price for them.I emailed and texted them hoping they would be at least interested to correct their mistake but only got silence. Quite a remarkable way of conducting business.
Dropped by the sales department today to test drive a GTI. The salesman, Kyle, was a lovely guy but unfortunately when it came to discussing finance, he passed over to his boss (cant remember his name). Ive bought a few new cars in my home country, so I have a few past experiences to draw from.Ive never felt as pressured to buy a new car than I did today. The guy was abrupt, rude, pushy and made the whole experience really unpleasant. I left the showroom thinking I had done something wrong which is not an experience I would expect from a customer facing business.Thanks Kyles boss, youve totally put me off buying a new car so I guess I can thank you for saving me some cash! Kyle, if I had continued to negotiate with you, you probably would have had a sale.Edit based on manager’s response: I’d like to be clear that I told Bill I felt he was pressuring me several times and he continued on that path despite me telling him I felt uncomfortable with his approach.
Amir and Carlos got me into a beautiful CPO e-Golf. After a bit of negotiating, they got me me a price that I wanted for the car and on my trade-in. I’m also glad that I was not pressured into buying GAP, extended warranties, or other packages when I met with the finance manager (Toan). Do NOT recommend! Lied about Car Fax to offer me lower on my trade. Told me moderate damage when another dealer handed me my Car Fax and it clearly states minor damage. Salesperson called back and told me finance manager wanted us to come in again and offered us more on trade. Specific numbers were discussed on phone. Finance manager, Bill, completely rude and offered LOWER than original amount. Tried to contact General manager, never answered email or phone call. Shady from beginning to end.
I had an appot set up with Kyle to go over my lease end details with no intention of leaving with a new VW that day. I test drove the ID4 ProS and I was in love with all the features this car has to offer! Kyle and Amir are a great team! Exceptional service from everyone at this dealership! We bought an Atlas Cross Sport from Rik Schrammel and truly had a wonderful experience. Initially, we went in pretty sold on the Atlas, but Rik quickly pointed out that the Cross Sport was a much better fit for us (which it really was and Im so happy he sold us a Cross Sport!). The finance team and really everyone involved was so friendly, hospitable and efficient. Highly recommend this dealership!
The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable and do not try to upsell you on service, which is refreshing! The check in process was efficient, although it was early in the morning on a weekday.Unfortunately the service prices are on the high side, even for the area. Check for coupons though as they are often running specials. The waiting area is in serious need of a refresh and the WiFi is spotty at best. Not at all ideal if you are trying to get a little work in while your car is in the shop. If you have the flexibility to drop off your car, I would suggest that.
If I could give them 6 stars I would.I lease a new car every 3 years and I have never had a better sales agent than Amir Momeni. I wasnt even planning on getting a VW. I had 2 other cars at the top of my list but since I was near the VW dealership I decided to stop by and see what theyre offering. I parked next to a hot looking hatchback and I couldnt take my eyes off of it. I thought it was over my budget so it never crossed my mind that it would be mine some day.A short time later, that car was mine. Amir was able to negotiate a great deal that fit my budget. I was selling my old car. Boardwalk Volkswagen offered $52k when I inquired via 99Drive.com. When I showed up in person, they only offered $49k.
I was working a deal on a car in stock and this dealership sold it out from under me. Didnt get a warning or an offer to put down a partial down payment to hold the car. When confronted on why this happened, Bill Rice - Manager said Uh, were a car dealership, we sell cars. With a tone and then proceeded to tell me it was my fault.Bill Rice is why people hate dealerships and dont trust any of the process.
We drove about two hours to look at a used car, and we ended up having a really enjoyable experience! 10/10 would recommend this dealership for used and new cars and ask for Amir :)

I received great hassle-free service by Amir Momeni and the management team this past weekend. Everything that was agreed to was honored in the transaction.
Lets start with the good. Got a good deal; not anything exceptional by any way, but on par with other dealerships. At the last moment I got tacked with an extra $300 addition, rather than the $200 deduction I was verbally promised, but this was past credit check and I wasnt about to start fresh. With that in mind, lets move to the bad. Dont trust anything said to you verbally. 4 out of 4 times whatever I was told verbally and not in writing was not honored or changed in some meaningful way. Likewise, they had difficulty keeping up with obligations- I had an appointment, and the agent basically didnt show up; We set up a time for sale, but they were not prepared; I filled out the application online- only to have to fill it again in person; and finally I scheduled the pick up- but ended up waiting way longer than I was promised.TL;DR- get everything in writing before you come in, and even then- be alert and ready to wait.

I am writing this review to tell everyone about the fantastic service I have just received at Boardwalk Volkswagen in Redwood City. John Keller, the sales manager who assisted me with my purchase was wonderful. He is warm, gracious, knowledgeable and extremely professional. The whole time I was at the dealership, Mr. Keller made me feel comfortable and part of the family. It was far and away, the most seamless and stress free car buying experience I have ever experienced. I cannot recommend Boardwalk Volkswagen and especially the good man, John Keller highly enough. Upsetting experience.I took my car in for the 50,000 mile servicing with no existing issues except a small cracked interior plastic part. They agreed to order the plastic piece and then updated me during the day about additional parts and services that they needed to perform. Unfortunately, I dont have much expertise with cars, so I trusted them to perform what was necessary to keep my vehicle safe.By the time I came back in the afternoon, the bill was $2000 with all the necessary repairs for my vehicle. This was upsetting, but I I told myself that at least I wouldnt have to put money into my car for a while.5 Days after the inspection, TWO DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS came on in my car! One for my adaptive front lighting system and another for a rear headlight going out. I was naturally upset, but I needed to return to get the plastic piece replaced.While replacing the plastic piece, which cost another $150, they let me know that the additional warnings would take at least $800 more to fix and require a third trip to the servicing center!I wish I hadnt brought my car here in the first place. Dont make the same mistake.

Tom the sales guy was very helpful. We needed to get our 20 year old car appraised and Tom got me someone to appraise it for free. They were candid about the value of the car, and Tom suggested different ideas on how to get the value of our car up without expecting anything else in return for his suggestions.
We looked all around the Bay Area for a GTI, and talked to a lot of salespeople. Amir was a clear cut above, and that was obvious from when we met him. He was quick to offer expertise, was a great listener, and was very patient with us. Would highly recommend!

I thought Id post an update on my car repair visit to the VW dealer in Redwood City. There was an issue with the emission system. The car is a PZEV with 15 years/150,000 miles warranty on that system. I specifically asked my service advisor to check for warranty. He presented me with a $800 bill. I asked him if he had checked warranty. And he said yes.So I drive back home and contact VW on Messenger to voice my displeasure with the fake warranty. Only to find out that warranty did apply, and that someone would follow up with the dealer. This resulted in a $350 refund, not even half.To make a situation bad worse, after upgrading the software, they forgot to reactivate the cruise control. So I had to go back, and guess what, the service advisor wanted to charge me a $220 diagnostic fee. I dont think I controlled what came out of my mouth .... Im impressed that it didnt include swearing and remained respectful.Stay away ...
I worked with Amir Momeni and he was excellent. Straight to the point, super responsive over email. When I came in, we had a deal done in 20 mins. He was very resourceful and even connected me with an insurance agent for quotes. Attentive and 2-3 months after the sell, he is still checking up on me to make sure everything is good with the car. I negotiated a price for a SUV with Amir. I asked him to email me the contract so I could study it at home. He agreed. I was astonished to find a credit application in my mailbox. I emailed Amir and asked again for the sales contract. I responded „No problem“. I never received the contract. I have the feeling he is trying to hide something. I don’t think it is unreasonable to read a sales contract at the comfort of your home instead under pressure in a sales office. If Boardwalk Volkswagen is an honest company they certainly would allow me to study their sales contract before signing it.
My TPS came on and so I was able to make it to the boardwalk Volkswagen for impromptu service.Poh was extremely accomodating and friendly and got me back on the road in no time. I highly recommend asking for him to service your vehicle.

It started off great I needed to do everything online because I had to work this weekend and Kyle was very helpful and friendly. I had come to an agreement with Bill the finance manager who assured me if I came in at 10 am I would be out the door by 11 am. Bill was late so the general manager Stu said he could help me directly and get me out the door within the hour. Everything was going smoothly until I noticed a deep paint scratch on one of the doors. I asked if they could fix it and the GM said he could use touch up paint. I asked how long the fix would last. His response was to literally yell at me and tell me I’m being unreasonable. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t have $19k laying around to purchase a car only to have a car door painted later. It was a reasonable question and if I were him I would have asked well let’s see what else we can get you in today or a simple honest answer about the deep scratch. Instead the GM of the dealership yelled at me and my son, pointed his finger in our faces and told us to leave. Not good business if you ask me and one of the worse experiences as a consumer ever. I felt so bad for Kyle who was a true gentleman the whole time.

First thing the sales manager told me was.. hows your credit score? So I dont waste my time.Then for a 23k car he ask me for 9k of down payment almost half of the price. I think it doesnt make sense because he ask for that without run my credit. Was a bad experence.

Read this before you go!!!I have a check engine light blinking and guess how much does it cost to replace 4 ignition coils, 4 spark plugs, and 2 ignition coil connectors? 935$ before tax! (the parts are 335$ and labors fee is 600$).And it’ll cost 435 dollars before tax to only replace 1 ignition coil, 1 spark plug, and 1 ignition coil connector. Do you think it’s a reasonable price?The story doesn’t end. After they inspect my vehicle and I decide not to let them repair my vehicle because it’s abnormal expensive, they still charge me 210 dollars for the inspection fee only!!!!!When I first arrive at this place, and I knew nothing about the inspection fee. They only inform me after I checked in my vehicle already. When I begin to realize I get tricked, it is too late. The service guy has driven my vehicle to the garage, and I have no choice but let it happen.I’ve owned Volkswagen for 3 years, and I’ve been to many other Volkswagen service centers many times, I haven’t met a dealership that charges this much inspection fee. I have never heard about the engine light inspection will cost 210$!!!! Do they think they are inspecting Ferrari or Lamborghini that dare them to charge that much money? One of the service guys even said this inspection fee and labor fees are Volkswagen standards. Do they think I’m a naive kid knowing nothing about the world????? I went to Sunnyvale Volkswagen last year, they diagnosed my battery for free.Boardwalk Volkswagen said my ignition col connectors need to be replaced. However, I went to another auto repair shop and the guy said my connectors work fine and I don’t even have to replace the connectors, then the guy inspects my engine for free. In the end, the guy replaces 1 ignition coil and 4 spark plugs for 150$ including labor fee. I feel I got fooled by Boardwalk Volkswagen.The funniest thing is, I arrive there at 2:30 pm, then I sit in the lounge to wait. At 5 pm they close the service center and ask me to pick up my car tomorrow. I was told that the inspection could take some time and I can leave while they’re checking, but they didn’t tell me I’ll need to wait until the other day to get the car back.This must be a joke!!!!

I called twice to order a very simple part. Both times the man who answered the phone had NO IDEA what I was talking about. So I researched the part, printed out a picture and description of it, drove to Boardwalk, showed BOTH parts men that were there and they STILL had NO IDEA what it was. Then one of the parts men tried telling me it was something that it clearly was not. Just because I am a female does not mean I am ignorant to car parts. I actually work on my daughters car and know exactly what Im talking about. POOR PARTS DEPT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Poor everything!Note: I called Winn VW in Newark and the parts guy knew exactly what I was talking about, he was kind, helpful and I got the part from him. :)
Recently my daughter was making her first vehicle purchase and requested that her father, I accompany on her quest. She found her dream vehicle at the dealership Boardwalk Vw. We reside five and a half hours to the north. As we entered the dealership we were promptly greeted by Amir Momeni and he brought the vehicle to the front for our inspection and after a test drive and after a meticulous inspection we agreed this was the one. Amir was forthcoming, friendly and honest about the vehicle and very respectful to both of us. We sat down and after and stress free negotiation we made great deal. These folks went above and beyond to satisfy her. The finance mgr Richard, was able to get her a great rate and wisely offered a warranty, as the vehicle was pre owned, that fit within the parameters she requested. These guys stayed two hours after closing to fulfill her dream. We left not only with the vehicle but also established a true friendship wih Amir and Richard and recommend anyone to do business with. We bought a new e-golf in August and the experience was great. Absolutely no pressure, and Tom worked with us and our specific timelines related to an international move. Kyle was very helpful for final pickup of the car, and Rob in finance was easy to work with and quite transparent. Overall it was a much better experience than other dealerships weve been to.
I have to say, I am extremely impressed with the team at Boardwalk Volkswagen. Everyone there was extremely friendly, willing to chat, and just make you comfortable and enjoy the experience, even in the times of COVID.Rik who I interfaced with when selecting my GTI gets top marks. He wasnt pushy, didnt want to force me into anything, but he did see how much I loved the car, and did everything he could to make sure that I could get it. This included giving me calls sometimes several times a day just because of how many people were actively interested in the car because he wanted me to have it!Bill Rice also gets a lot of my respect as well. Since I totaled my car that still had a lean on it, my credit was less than desirable. Brought car in for oil change and transmission notice. Transmission was recall item. I was charged for tire rotation, brake fluid change total $400. i did not approve or ask for these and frankly would never as brake fluid flush is a hoax. Service manager on vacation. Although there is nothing with my name on it for these other services I have to pay to get my car.

The store manager was completely unethical, lied multiple times and changed what we agreed upon more than 3 times. I understand it’s their business but making comments about personal life trying to make a sale takes the negotiation out of focus and becomes completely disrespectful. Hated my experience here. Heads up, don’t finance your car through them.

Excellent experience. Ive never had a smoother experience purchasing a vehicle. Even being an out of state buyer, Andrea and Moe took care of everything pretty much by phone. I stopped by on my way to work in Cali and looked at the vehicle, made an amazing deal and stopped back by on my way home and picked it up. I spent less than an hour total at the dealership. Had seen the Volkswagon Gulf and knew it was the car I wanted. They didnt have the color on the lot. Went in for a very short time on Monday, got all the paperwork done and Tuesday afternoon my beautiful Midnight Blue Metallic was there. John Keller was friendly and helpful. Made the buying process so easy. He was off when I went to pick it up, but he told me Kyle would take through the process of the mechanical part. Kyle was so patient and friendly and made it easy to learn.Finished up the paper work in 10 minutes .Would highly recommend the dealership. I had a great experience at this dealership. I first contacted them by chat and asked a specific question about a car. The rep asked for my phone number and told me a sales person would contact me to answer my question. Sebastian Pereira called me within the hour and answered all my preliminary questions. He understood what I was asking for, was not pushy and did not try to sale me anything over the phone. We schedule a meeting for the next day and he made the whole process very easy and quick. I got the car I had seen online for an even better price the same day and I have nothing but compliments about the way the sale was handled at the dealership. They were friendly, informative, helpful and conscious about my financial requirements. I highly recommend the dealership and Sebastian in particular.
I love my new Tiguan! It was so easy working with John Keller. He was very direct and to the point and made my buying experience quick and easy. Very helpful and great car buying experience. Did my homework online, came to Boardwalk and drove away with a new VW Jetta. Amir, Mo and Robert were very attentive and worked with us on price and met our auto needs. We didn’t have to drive to other dealers :)
We bought a pre-owned Passat from Moe at wv. He is super nice and cares about the experience of his costumers. He is so patient and answered all of our questions with a smile.We have been looking for a car for couple of weeks and Moe is by far the best salesmen we interacted with.The finance manager Robert was also very helpful and passionate in helping us choosing the best financial plan.
This is a change from 5-star to a more realistic 1-star after being forced to post a 5-star review after some promises were not honored shortly after.This post is directed to sales associate Amir which appeared to be too good to be true.As a regular employee of VW, sales associates cannot offer and promise anything verbal so dont let that throw you off and base your decision on what the Sales person tells you. Wait till they have upper management approval and get something writing.If he tells you that he can get things through his employee discount or for free somehow do not fall for that as this means zero without his boss giving the OK on these commitments.

Honestly Amir and Robert deserve more than 5 stars, they were both so great. However, the manager, Bill, not a person I ever hope to run into again. He treated me based on the color of my skin and had the audacity to tell my family that I wasted their time... umm honey that’s your job... you not only wasted my time but also disrespected us, I don’t think a job in customer service is for you. The only reason I am giving 5 stars is because of Amir, he treated us like his family and I have never met a better car salesman than him.
Edgar Flores, Amir and Robert provided extreme sales/customer service. They were transparent during the process of the sale. Up front and not pushy at all. Good service, always on time. They do work with JM and A associates, who are known scam artists. So if you go to Boardwalk VW, JMA will send you letters, using Boardwalk VW letterhead, telling you that your warranty is going to expire. Boardwalk VW will let you know (if you ask) that your warranty is fine and you should ignore the JMA letter. However, Boardwalk VW does not seem to have interest in stopping JMAs scam.
