I am so glad I came here to get work done. The industry gets a bad rap but Alex helped put my nerves at ease. I was very impressed by the professionalism. He went above and beyond to explain the work that needed to be done and answer any questions that I had. The best part of this experience was there were no surprises. Everything was communicated upfront and Alex couldnt have been more professional. He called and followed up exactly when he said he would, and did everything to make sure I got my car back as quickly as possible.I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Alex and Redwood City Auto Body! This will be my go-to shop for all future needs.

My rear bumper was knocked off in traffic, and I took it to Alex at Redwood City Auto Body for the replacement. He took extra care to walk me through how the process would work, what it would cost, and how much time it would take. When the parts came in and we dropped the car off, everything went smoothly like he had explained. One week later, I’m picking my car up and it looks as good as new. I would definitely recommend Alex’s shop.

They Overcharge Here by More Than 3x.I did not choose to get my car repaired here because Alex gave me an outrageous quote of $10,000 to repair my fender bender. Attached are images of my car repaired at another facility (AAA approved) for $2700 - new bumper, fender, labor, paint, and paint-blending of the door. I wanted to leave this review because I do not believe this place deserves the high average rating that it has, and I believe it might be a scam (but since I did not use their service, I wont rate lower than 3 stars).I got quotes from 4 places:- one for $900 (over text, did not investigate further)- 2 for ~$2700-$2800 (in person, with an itemization of parts, labor, paint etc). These are the 2/4 I would recommend, they were from Kennedy Auto Body and Paint, and Avenue Auto Service.- here for $10,000 - Alexs hand-wavy estimate with no itemization.When I asked Alex why his quote was so high, he told me that he uses the GM checklist to perform all the things GM requires for any collision. As an example, he said he would have to take apart the steering wheel and inspect various parts for damage. When I commented that that seemed unnecessary, he asked me who made the car? You or GM? It just doesnt make sense to me to spend more than half the price of my car ($17k) checking for extremely unlikely damage from a 5mph collision with a pillar. At that amount, I could almost buy another car.Additionally, he looked at my steering wheel for about 15 seconds and told me I have all the things, and that my car would need to be calibrated by being taken to the dealer, and that it would cost $1,000 just to take it there. When I asked him what things he was talking about, he said things like park assist and all the fancy features new cars have. As far as Im aware, the only thing that could need calibrating are the proximity sensors (other shops commonly do this in-house), which is what I told him, but he insisted it was way more than just that. Folks, I dont even know what fancy features he was talking about, and the park assist button in my car isnt even on the steering wheel, its a poorly marked button between the drivers seat and the passenger seat. I havent double-checked, but I doubt that calibrating the car at the dealer is more than a couple hundred dollars.He also pressured me to go through my insurance which I did not want to do. He told me its just math, you can calculate it Well, I have a high deductible of $1500 and a high premium as Im a young driver. I researched average price hike increase and duration by state and by insurance company, and back of the napkin math showed me I would be paying about $3500 in premium hikes over 5 years, which totaled to $5,000 with the deductible, so for anything less than that, it would probably be cheaper to pay out of pocket. I believe he was pressuring me to agree to pay with insurance to in order to placate me into accepting the overcharged $10k quote. Frankly, even that upsets me, because overcharging insurance companies eventually just trickles down that cost to the consumer, and increases everyones premium rates. Im not interested in a giant game of who can scam who the hardest.Finally, I asked him if he reported the damage/repair to carfax and my insurance company (the other 2 companies said no to this question, including details about how they go out of their way to not report this info), and he told me that since I already had quotes from other locations the information has already been reported. At that point I finally left.This shop is dishonest and uses fear-mongering techniques to try to get you to pay for things that you dont need, dont have, and/or dont make sense. I suspect the reason they have such high ratings is Alex gives an initially high quote, and then brings the price down by 40% at the end, making his customers feel like he did an awesome job -- but even if he ended up charging me $6,000, that would still have been more than double what it cost in another shop.

Alex is amazing. I go to him instantly with any auto body issue. When a car of mine was totalled a few years ago, his bid was below others I looked up, he was professional, on time, thorough and I never had an issue again. Recently, i had a window issue on my car and he fixed it in about 30 seconds. Highly recommend him!!

Redwood City Auto Body is my go-to shop for any problem big or small when it comes to my car. I am a perfectionist, (some would say a giant pain in the and often, admittedly, hard to please. But Alex consistently treats me with honesty, kindness, and professionalism. Every time I have had work done at RCAB, it has turned out beyond my expectations. Alex always goes the extra mile and takes care of not only your vehicle, but all of the hassle surrounding the insurance portion of the transaction. Alex knows how traumatic it can be when someone has been in an accident and he takes that burden off of your shoulders. When you go to Redwood City Auto Body, you can go there with confidence knowing youre not going to get taken to the cleaners. If I could give 10 Stars, I would! Alex and his staff are the BEST.

Ive taken 3 of my cars to this body shop for a variety of things, and will do so as long as I live in the area. Great quality of work, performed in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend taking your vehicle here!I value transparency from anyone who works on my cars, and Alex always takes the time to explain the details of what may be needed prior to the job being done. He also kept me updated along the way, and was upfront about the latest job being simpler than expected (and therefore much less expensive).Its a no-pressure, no-stress experience here. Whether you need your car repaired after a box truck backs into it, or just to install a complicated trim kit, Alexs people can do it, and do it well. And if, for whatever reason, you dont need things to be 100% flawless (I have an old errand-runner with some rust and plenty of paint blemishes), hell gladly explain which cosmetic repairs are worth the cost, and which are not.

Shady business practices. He had a huge bill for my insurance that x2 what the adjuster would cover. Then would not release my car and was adding charges that my insurance would not cover. This is a common practice with this business as example in several Yelp reviews. Also my Farmers agent said this has occurred with only this business in the past.Do not go here. Alex is a scam artist, disregard the positive reviews.

I brought my car to Alex after a minor fender bender caused pretty significant damage across the side of my car. I have an Acura, and when looking at the Acura website to find Acura-certified auto body shops near me, I found Redwood City Auto Body.I cannot overemphasize how incredible Alex was. In an industry known for bad actors, he not only met the standards of a job well done - he went above and beyond in every way. I swear my car came back to me in better condition than it was even right before the accident had occurred! Not only did he repair the damage that resulted from the accident - he even took the time and effort to make repairs for other minor damage unrelated to the accident, like buffing out a scratch across my back panel, or repairing a slight dent in the front panel. He covered these minor damages free of charge - in fact, I hadnt even noticed the slight dent on my front panel, he pointed it out to me when I dropped it off, and without batting an eye, he told me hed take care of it for me! The car came back to me squeaky clean, inside and out - my floor mats were getting pretty gross, so I was really excited to see the inside so clean!Perhaps the thing I appreciated most was his communication. When I brought in the car for a consultation to inspect the damage, he gave detailed explanations for everything. When he inspected the damage, he explained not only the visible damage but also the potential invisible damage to internal parts of the car (such as the air bag weight sensors in the seats) that he anticipated the need to investigate; I felt very assured that he would return my car in the highest safety conditions. After explaining the damages he would want to assess, he gave detailed explanations on the various approaches he might take to repairing the damage, depending on what the damage ended up being, and he explained *why* he would take these different approaches. I really appreciate when professionals explain *why* they will do something, because it shows they want you to understand their thought process and decision-making, and it develops my trust in their expertise. After that initial consultation, I knew I could trust Alex to care about my car and care about me.Throughout the next few weeks, he would call me periodically with updates on the process, what he discovered as he further investigated the car and what he planned to do in response, and he handled all communication with Geico insurance to work out the payment details. Its remarkable how smoothly everything went.While I hope I dont need to bring my car to Alex anytime soon, should the need arise, Ill be bringing it to him every time, without any hesitation.

RWC Auto Body is the best place I have found on the SF Peninsula for body work. We have lived here for over 40 years, raising teenagers and fixing the scrapes as they learned to drive. In Dec 2020, I took in my 2000 Mercedes CLK430 to fix the front bumper cover. Alex ordered a special 3M adhesive, repaired the cover, did a great color match, polished it to perfection, and gave me a good discount. After I picked it up, I went for a smog check and the mechanic thought my 21 year old car looked like it was new. Other body shops have done shoddy work, but the quality at RWC Auto Body shines through.

RWC Auto Body did the bodywork on my Toyota Rav 4. I had a huge dent in the passenger back side hitting my mail box (sad). It was a large job due to the location of it, and the shop did an AMAZING job. My car looks brand new! They also steam cleaned the inside and the car overall looks fantastic. Alex is so easy to work with. He also fixed the electronic calibration of my windshield that hadnt been installed properly when I had my windshield replaced due to a rock crack. How he knew this was and issue and knew how to fix it is rather remarkable. He is extremely service oriented. My husband and I have used Redwood City Auto Body over the years for many different body work projects and they never fail to disappoint. Highly recommend!

I had Redwood City Auto Body paint some custom steel bumpers for me and they went above and beyond my expectations. The bumpers were unfinished steel that were not smooth and I was expecting just to have them sprayed to match the color of my truck. They smoothed all the imperfections on the flat sections of metal which completely changed the image of the bumper. The owner said it wouldnt look good if they didnt smooth out the flat sections. After all their hard work considering each bumper weighed about 160 lbs each the bumpers look smooth and clean. I would highly recommended this company to anyone needing body or paint work done.

We had used Redwood City Auto Body before when we backed our rear Infiniti bumper into a parking pillar. The Redwood City dealership recommended we use them, and they did a wonderful job in terms of assessing the issue, giving us options, and being patient in answering questions. After we got the car back, the newly replaced bumper looked exactly like the old and the paint blended in seamlessly.More recently, we scraped the side of the Infiniti car backing out of a garage and the two of the panels had a lot of paint and scratches. Of course, we called up Redwood City Auto Body again and this time we got the owner, Alex, who was super friendly and almost offended he didnt remember me from last time. (That was because we hadnt actually met before.)He suggested that we bring the car for an assessment. Afterwards, he said to bring it in again for the day and they would clean it up free of charge (polish etc) to see if it really needed any major repair. At the end of the day, the car was almost back to new and we were very happy with the outcome. Alex is the best, just goes the extra mile for people, and doesnt want anything back for these small acts of kindness!!

Updated: It seems to me that there is no overcharge from the repair job itself, the problem seems to be adding non-necessary repair than what actually is needed. We do NOT take short cuts. seems to be we will try to come up as much repair as possible.I am confused.I saw the great reviews from other reviewers, so did not understand why my experience is so different.I got two scratches on my leasing car, and got a quote of more than 2000$ (not including some other scratches on the car wheels) from Alex. The reason is clearly explained by Alex as well: for example, although one scratch is only on one door, they have to tear off the paint on both doors on that side completely and paint them again. Only this way they can make sure the color matches.I felt Alex is honest, warm, empathetic and patient.Later, I returned my leasing car without any fix. The total repair charge from the car company is a little over 500$, including the two scratches on the body and scratches on wheels as well.My feeling for Alex collapsed instantly.After more than 3 years, I still did not understand why. Did Alex simply made a mistake or he is a master deceiver?

Alex and the rest of the staff at Redwood Auto Body Inc completely met and exceeded my all expectations when I brought my 2016 Honda Civic in to repair some damage from a minor collision. They broke down the process every step of the way to keep me in the loop, and made sure I was aware of everything that was being done to my car. Best of all, they are one of the only body shops Ive found that is actually Honda certified and did everything by the book to fix some problems with my vehicle that other shops never did! To top it off, when I picked up my car it was freshly cleaned, sanitized, and polished and looked as nice as it did the day I bought it. Cant stress enough how happy I am with their service, this is definitely my go-to shop for all future issues.

They dont give you free estimates like most of the shops unless you leave your car for repairs. I dont recommend this shop at all, used to be better. I dont know what happened with these body shop.

I’ve had to get work done for both my personal and commercial vehicles. I’ve known Alex over the last 13 years and have referred my family, friends, and clients to him over the years. They have impeccable service. I get updates (pictures of progress) for my vehicles. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable when I’ve had to deal with insurance or getting me a great rental car at low rates.Alex gives such amazing care to his clients and no matter if you have a 1992 Camry or a 458 Ferrari his work speaks for itself and is SECOND TO NONE. They are very professional and do such AMAZING work. I brought my wife’s Lexus in and it was back to showroom condition. Alex has even provided me with helpful tips if someone vandalizes your car in a parking lot. I had no idea I could’ve saved some $$$. It’s like having a private car consultant for anything related to cars.

Really awesome (seemingly) family owned shop. I came in as a sorry excuse for a mechanical engineer, not knowing how to change my burnt out headlight. Theyre open early so I stopped by before work which is a great perk. When I got there, an employee checked out my headlight for about 10 minutes, testing it and giving it a few good flicks. He let me know that the bulb wasnt burnt out; the filament was misaligned. He dug through the scrap pile to find me a new light but couldnt find one that wasnt broken. So, he directed me to a nearby OReillys, gave me some instructions, and sent me on my way, free of charge.Great service, honest people!

Finding Alex and his shop was definitely the best part of my entire ordeal. Best body shop Ive ever been to!I got rear ended and within an hour, I yelped and found this place. I took my car in without any notice and Alex inspected it right then and there. He was pretty thorough for such a quick inspection and took my car in no problem. I didnt have any trouble with my insurance either because the cost of the repair was very reasonable in comparison to other places. We just took our Mercedes into Redwood City Auto Body (who we have been using on our vehicles for the last 10 years plus) and were quite sad to see that they had almost no business due to COVID. Every other time we have been there, their shop has been packed with jobs. Alex, the owner, told me they are really struggling to get through COVID since people havent been driving or taking their cars in for repairs as much. It had not occurred to me that COVID would affect body shops but apparently it has in a significant way, just as its devastated so many other small businesses.Alex is one of the best service providers weve encountered over the years. They always have done the highest quality work for us (no shortcuts), theyve provided amazing service, and their rates have been more than reasonable, which is why they were always very busy pre-COVID. Their Yelp / Google reviews are also five-star, and for good reason. The turnaround time is very short now since they dont currently have a lot of work. We would highly recommend Alex and his shop now or in the future.
