Our experience with this U-haul location was fantastic! We had lost the lights on the vehicle we were towing behind our RV. All of the RV dealers were booked solid and we desperately needed someone to repair it for us. We stopped by this U-haul location and they were very accommodating in helping us. Joey checked it out and was able to get the lights working again for us. He was super nice and we were very grateful for for the excellent service!

Horrible customer service.. I had u crates shipped here was told to come in at 12:00 pm to have access. I arrive and they dont have them ready.. the general manager told me that she couldnt get them it would take get 2 hours.. I asked if I can come back later.. she replied I am not getting them down today. Im the ONLY CERTIFIED FORKLIFT DRIVER.. now you are holding my crates hostage.. time me to call corporate..

Brought in 6 wood crates during road construction. Super nice people easy in and out even with road construction.

Had an appointment at 8am Monday that I scheduled through their telephone number. Arrived at 8am Monday and turns out they rescheduled my appointment for Thursday at some random time. Megan? If I remember correctly- the manager changed it. No one ever called or talked to me about this change. They just did it because it fit their needs better and screw the customer.I had to come back later in the day when the guy would be in to do the hitch. Didn’t even offer a discount.Very disappointed

Absolute worst customer service.Story time- my brothers family is moving from South Dakota back to Oregon and he had a reservation for 8/13 at 10:30 am. He paid for a plane ticket to fly me out to help pack and drive a car back. He starts his new job on Monday so time is of the essence. His reservation time comes around and was told to be there at 11 for the truck. We get there and the truck is not there, they extended the prior customers reservation without calling, emailing, or texting. We were told that it “could” be back the next morning (the 14th) but it was no guarantee.No one ever contacted him to let him know the truck wasn’t there anymore. We were told there are no trucks within 300 miles so he had to drive from Rapid City SD to Casper WY to Penske for a truck. Thank goodness for the employees and fantastic customer service at Penske. Not only did they have a truck for us, they stayed later to get the reservation taken care AND it was less expensive because of our awful experience with Uhaul.

Reserved a 20 truck on a Tuesday. Went to pick it up at scheduled time 6:00pm on a Thursday evening. No truck available. They refused to let us take a bigger truck that they had on the lot. The manager sent us over to some 24 hour truck that was available. The website would not let me rent that truck either. Had to call customer service. (The local rapid city number, they dont answer by the way... it just goes to the uhaul customer service call center). Anyways, after explaining the situation to 3 different people, and being on the phone for 2 AND A HALF HOURS, we were finally able to get the truck at 9:30pm.Note: I made a 1 way move, and the uhaul lady at my current uhaul is amazing and has excellent customer service. But the Rapid city one, those guys could care less about helping you out.

Horrible place they lied to me told me they had my trailer to pick up. Then called me the day before told me its 150 miles away I had to go there to get it place is a joke

Terrible place. Nobody here knows what they’re doing. Nothing works we stood in there for an hour waiting for the internet and then the printer and am just happy we got what we needed finally.

They have great customer service! Every thing was orderly even though it was very busy! They were super helpful and kind. They made moving alot easier.

I just got a quote for a trailer hitch assembly install & reservation for a little trailer, and it was ALL less expensive than just getting the trailer hitch installed at the Jeep location...absolutely awesome! The guy that helped me on the phone was knowledgeable in what I needed, and plus a free month of storage if I need in the future, available for the next 2 years. You just cant beat U-HAUL. Plus, he advised me to try to reserve for now, at no cost, and I can always change the date or cancel. These guys know what theyre doing, have very competitive prices, & know how to make a customer happy.

How can you call a company when their phone wont even ring thru

The people who work at this U-Haul a very knowledgeable. I arrived on time using my phone for online. I had a little trouble with my phone and a customer service person came up to me and walk me through it and just seconds and we were off and running to make a big move.

Great place for all of ones self moving needs. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Indoor climate control units are exceptionally clean and dust free. Storage unit security is very good. Trucks and trailers are well taken care of and kept updated. The wife and I have used their services a lot over the years and will continue to do so.

I showed up at uhaul on a Monday morning at 8 am desperate. My car had been totaled by a hail storm, with no rental cars available at the airport my options were fading for finding my way 900 miles home. The representative was so kind and calm. I was nearly in tears the entire time just from the stress of the previous 24 hrs. She was reassuring, and helpful and was the kind face I needed. Uhaul has my business for life. Thank you dear lady. I cant remember your name but your kindness didnt go unappreciated.

Twice, I ordered a car trailer through their website. Twice this location failed to have it and I ended up using a different place a half an hour away. I don’t know if the problem is with this site or that their website is garbage but it is extremely inconvenient.

This place was ok. Advice. GET IT IN WRITING! They didnt have equipment we needed so we had to wait a day. OK No problem except they entered it in the system wrong along with our whole account. I told my husband to get the adjustments in writing because it lowered the price. I had a feeling when we arrived to turn it in the price would be tricky because they probably did not adjust it. I was right! They left it for the next place to figure out. Luckily Jason and Daniel here in Texas fought for us! Southern charm at its finest! They were trying to charge even more for something we couldnt control.

I called to see if I could get something to tow a car and they didnt have anything. They tried to send us to Nebraska but that was rediculos. They ended up sending us to Casper 3 hours out of the way and didnt even offer to five us a small discount. Never had worse service from U-Haul.

Horrible experience. When I went to add a day I was told it would be fine only $40 and my bill was increased over $500 with no explanation. The staff was not helpful, and they made no effort to alleviate any issues, I was put on hold multiple times and then hung up on when I tried to fix it. I had to go to the actual building and talk to someone in person to get it fixed. Then, the day before I was supposed to pick up my truck in Rapid City, they called and told me nope, their wont be any truck - I have to drive 50 minutes to the next town over to get a truck if I want one. The truck we were given then had ripped up siding and said it was full except I was able to put another $30 in it. Then, when I went to pick up my auto transport, they didnt have it after confirming they would, We had to go to another location to get the auto transport, and they put the wrong auto transport on our order (a more expensive one) and then said they didnt have a cheaper one and wed have to go with what was on our order. Never EVER going with Uhaul again.

Had no problems. Reserved truck. Was ready and clean. Had to get a second truck at last minute. 2 trucks all went good on the move. Great friendly people. And very helpful. Will use them aging. Thanks to all employees who helped out.

One of the owners hit the back of my car with the tow bar and caused a minor scratch. He didnt even apologize. They gave us the oldest trailer because we were taking it o. A one way trip out of town. The store at our final destination was shocked they allowed that old of a unit travel across country. Just not very customer service orientated at the Rapid City store.

I experienced some of the best customer service iIhave had in a while. I needed to move a washer and dryer on an exceptionally cold day in January. I had previously reserved a flatbed trailer and dolly over the phone in the morning and that was a very easy process. When I arrived on site and saw what was available I asked the associate (I believe his name was Terry) what he thought I should rent for the best price and he steered me towards a covered trailer that fit my needs for a lower price. Once I was set up with the paperwork he met me outside to hook up the trailer. When we tried to make the connection for the trailer lights we saw that my side of the connection had come loose at some point and been chewed up by the road. Instead of leaving me to fend for myself he ran inside to find another connection that was not in use and spliced the wires together. My hands were close to numb after a few minutes, but Terry was fiddling with the wires without gloves for much longer than that. He got me fixed up and out of there in 15 minutes despite the issues. I previously had pretty low expectations and poor experience with U-Haul, but this interaction changed my perception.

Organized. These people run a moving/truck rental place like it should be. Always have the vehicles or trailers I reserve and on time. Always friendly and helpful.

Both of our uhaul experiences at this location have been amazing! The owners and staff are extremely helpful and patient...they even recommended some good food places when we moved into town and didn’t know the area.

Called for a price. Was asked for phone number and email address. I didnt want to give it out. So he refused to give me a price. Asked to speak to manager. Put on hold and they never answered.Ridiculous. Lowes and menards are where to go for truck rentals.

We came to south Dakota on vacation need to have new wiring for our camper lights put on . Called uhale on a Monday scheduled an appt for tues . They called said no one could do it that day rescheduled 5 more times tell we said for get it! What a joke of a place . went to time rentals got use in right away .

They need to check their vehicles and keep up with maintenance before renting them out to people! The damn van was all over the place the whole 400 miles, couldnt get it to stay in a straight line. Also one of the hubcaps fell off twice. Told them about both problems on two separate occasions neither employee I spoke with even bothered with an apology.

That took soooooooooooo long.

Called the u haul location on deadwood Ave. Rapid city south dakota to see if they could install hitch wiring. They said it would be no problem at all all I had to do was stop by. When I get there I waited for 20 min before an employee was around at all. By that time there were 5 other customers waiting as well. They told me they didnt have time now and they would call me that day when it would be better time. I never got a call so I went back. This time no other customers around but the employees (one of them was the owner) said they couldnt help right then because the guy who does it went home and they were just too busy. So I made an appointment for the next morning. I was told it would only take 30 min at most. At my appointment they employees were confused and surprised there anything scheduled. About 10 min after my apt time they finally get started on my wiring. (Because they were helping other customers who came after me) During the instal the guy working on it stopped 3 times for 5 to 10 min each time to help other customers. There were at least 3 ppl working there but two of them did nothing except sit behind the counter having a rude conversation about ppl needing help with wiring, clearly talking about me while I was in the room.Finally it was finished, over an hour after I got there. Thats when the guy installing it told me he also installed a wiring mount that costs extra. I didnt ask for nor want the mount but I was already running late by this point so I just payed and left.Terrible customer service, and blatantly lazy employees, installing extras without asking the customer... I wont be using u haul ever again, especially not from that store.

Worst uhaul Ive ever been to.. Didnt have the right truck.. Didnt know what they were doing. Said the gas was full but wasnt. Dont ever go here the employees even make you feel stupid after being around them.

Ready on time, but be careful they do charge for fuel even if you completely filled the truck up before bringing it back. There was actually more fuel in it when we brought it back then there was before we picked it up, so watch for that.

Not that impressed - Our overall experience was quite poor on top of the hidden charges we received at the end. Perhaps its best to go elsewhere..

Do not refill your propane here. Staff member overtightened propane tank and the valve broke off at camp. Unwilling to replace or repair tank.
