I was very pleased to be referred to Mark Erdmann who repaired two very different pieces for me: a New Mexico hand carved folk art piece and a Tibetan temple incense burner. Both were done with care and professional expertise. I would definitely call on him again for other repairs and restoration.

We searched for three years to find a conservator of Mark Erdmann’s excellence to repair our broken 18th Century glass “pokal” (a glass chalice with stem and covered top). It was broken into seven pieces. Please look at the photographs on Mr. Erdmann’s website in his Portfolio section. The photos show the damaged chalice in pieces and his completed work. Mr. Erdmann’s remarkable restoration used a technique with HXTAL epoxy. He discovered that one glass piece had been lost and he successfully created a new piece with epoxy in a wax mold. We so admired his exquisite work that we invited nearby museums and collectors to celebrate its return and hear Mr. Erdmann tell us the story of each step in his restoration process. We invited Mark and his wife to be our guests at our home and had the wonderful opportunity to have him to go through the house and examine other objects in need of restoration – wood frames, silver, brass, mirrors, and furniture. Now with certain confidence in his skill plus such a pleasant working process from start to finish, we see a path forward to more restoration projects.Martha M. DanielsCamden, South Carolina

Mark was an excellent choice to repair a trophy from the collection of the Jack Nicklaus Museum. Mark worked with us every step of the way to make sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. When it was finished we couldnt tell where the repair was made. Would work with Mark again.

We purchased a pair of ancient Chinese Lokapala sculptures, they are more than 1,000 years old and unfortunately when un-crating them we had some small parts break off on one of the sculptures. I was led to Mark after doing an extensive search for the right restorer. Mark was very professional and did an amazing job, we have two of these sculptures and I can not tell which one had the restoration work. We are very happy with Marks work and would recommend him highly.

I came to Mark with a brass art nouveau lamp that had been seriously damaged decades earlier. Parts had been bent, parts broken, and the surface was badly tarnished because of its age. Through my work at an art museum I was able to meet several conservators working with objects in various materials, but they were reluctant to work on it and warned me about the possibility of further damage if the brass weren’t handled properly. When I showed Mark the lamp and gave him the history of its damage, it was clear within minutes that he completely understood the problems and had a clear idea of what to do about them. In addition to repairing the damage I reported, he rewired the lamp with a cord suited to the period when it had been made; he also found evidence that the surface had originally been lacquered and after cleaning he protected it with a comparable lacquer. During the process he consulted me about alternative treatments. He raised my expectations about what could be done, and the final result fully met those higher expectations. It was a pleasure to work with him.
