Flew down to Punta Gorda to spend a week at a vacation home and fish in the canals. Came here to buy bait, rods, reels, and lures. Spent over 130$. Older man we bought from was very helpful and told us what we should or shouldn’t be using/buying. Went home and the first fish we catch was a 3lb catfish and had the reel crank snap off the reel. Figured it’d be no problem to return and swap out for something else considering the guy we had before was so helpful. But that wasn’t the case… guy called his boss and she told him not to give us a refund and that they don’t refund cheaper items. I would have even taken a discount on something nicer but they wouldn’t work with me at all. Very disappointed with the customer service as an experienced fisherman I knew how to use a rod and reel and that I had bought a cheaper set up. But the fact that it broke on the first fish tells me it’s a manufacturer error and I should have at least had the opportunity to swap out for something else. Will never come back to that store.

Great place, good bait, and friendly service. They have all you need for a good time on the water. Would recommend these guys all day long. Thanks you for everything.

Friendly and helpful! Good bait

Purchased a pair of Costa sunglasses from here. Within 1 week the lenses started to delaminate. I called in hopes of exchanging them but she is making me go through the process with Costa. I could understand if I had them for a long time but Ive had them for only 1 week. Dont be a Costa dealer if you dont want to stand behind their product. Atleast put a 30 day return policy on them. Or make the buyer aware that all sales are final. I will happily remove this review if they decide to do right by me and consider the fact that Ive spent thousands of dollars at this establishment in bait and tackle. Never spending my hard earned money here again otherwise.

The fish were waiting. I arrive at the Downtown Bait&Tackle. Bait bucket in hand. 3 dozen live shrimp an a hand full of tackle.All set one stop. Theyve got it all.

The kid that was working was not helpful and seemed as though he really did not want to be there.

It had nothing to do with the face sheilds. I tried to just purchase an energy drink and leader line. Your guy behind the counter insisted on telling me repeatedly Energy drinks arnt good for you even though I ignored him repeatedly. Then he placed his dirty bare hand on the mouth of my open soda water I brought into the store. Ive had only good experience up to this point. But you all not only sell energy drinks, you sell alcohol. If your employee is so concerned about the negative health effects of the products you sell, so much so he wont allow a customer to purchase the product. Why do you sell it in your store?

Stopped here for bait when I was on Vacation and they had good size live shrimp. Price per dozen wasnt bad like some other places Ive been to. I would recommend.

Worst bait shop I ever been too. I was the only customer there and the worker was assisting me first. But when some other customers came in he completely ignored me and started talking about stories with the other customers for 15 to 20 minutes. It just made me feel ignored completely made me feel like I was not welcome to a certain degree. Would not recommend this bait shop to anybody. very little supplies, and rude customer service.
