In the midst of a pandemic, where fear and misinformation run rampant, the ladies who work in this pharmacy location are terrific. They are patient, and calm, reassuring each customer they interact with despite other customers rudeness and impatience. Much like all front line folks, these employees are doing the absolute best job they can in a high stress/high demand environment and they dont get nearly the gratitude or appreciation they deserve. Thanks for a job well done.
The pharmacy staff and the pharmacist who worked on 8/20/2021 afternoon are far from professional, prepared, or capable of basic customer service at minimum. People’s lives are in your irresponsible hands. Do better Walgreens.
Edit: Just wasted my entire lunch trying to get on the phone with them to rectify the insurance issue. Called once waited on hold for 30+ minutes just to be hung up on, called again same story 30+ minutes on hold to be hung up on. I plan to immediately leave this pharmacy and never return.Very very annoyed with the pharmacy at this location. I have my prescription set to auto refill/renew and it has never been a problem before. This time during the auto refill process I did receive a call from Walgreens and they left a voicemail stating they were out of stock of my medication at the time and would refill as soon as they could once it came in, they never mentioned anything else. Im waiting and waiting to get a call when its ready to pick up and back in stock, I never get one. I login to my account to see if theres any status there and it states prescription can not be filled due to issue with insurance. Well sure wouldve been nice if you called or attempted in any way shape or form to let me know this instead of just ignoring the refill request. Now I am over a week behind on my medication and still dont have it.
Was billed twice for meds called store was placed on hold for 10 minutes, transferred to three people who kept asking about receipt. Informed manager of this who seemed to be irritated about me asking about be billed twice. Informed manager my receipt were ruined by I could provided the necessary info from my account in the app. The manager stated its a HIPPA violations even though its my info. Who wants to be billed twice and treat like its the customers fault. This a not like Walgreens to not give go customer service.

Good lord!! Horrible staff!! The pharmacy tech got caught in a lie, she told me my insurance was expired (it wasnt) and lied to my husband, saying she called the number on the back (she didnt) of the card. My husband called the insurance company and they told him, she DID NOT CALL. when my husband told her this, she ran off to the back of the store!! All she had to do was put my info in!! She couldnt even be bothered to do that?! And she lied about it to me, to my husband AND to the assistant manager!! This is someones prescription she is messing around with!!!
39 minutes on hold, drove there, waited in line and still nobody answered the phone. Waited 24 minutes at the glass window earlier today and wasnt acknowledged while they dealt with a lady at the other spot for over 40 minutes. Terrible service!
Been going to this Walgreens for awhile now because of location. I recently had my husband pick up my prescription. He called me to say that they didnt have any prescription ready in my name, even though they sent me several messages that it was ready. After he waited for 10 minutes they found the prescription. Only to be the wrong one.I did not look at it until the next day. They had gave me a different brand of my regular prescription. I called the pharmacist and was told that the manufacturer they usually get it from was out, so they automatically got it elsewhere. Well, I am allergic to the other brand and I feel they should have called me before filling the prescription from another manufacturer. Good thing I have enough of my of prescription to carry me through another month.1/29/2020 Update: Picked up my prescription and I received my regular Brand Rx and a bottle of the other BRAND that I had requested for them to not give to me. Guess I will be looking for another pharmacy.
I went to pickup my prescription as usual, the staff is good, but as I got out of my car and headed towards the door there was a black male with his pants around his knees and his backside was hanging out. It made me not want to go in the store. Its bad enough having to wear masks. I certainly dont want to look at someones butt !!!
Staff is very friend and awesome. Every time i visit this store i have no problem at all. Ms Phyllis,and the young guy forgot hes name he is awesome too. And the managers they are all awesome 👏
Its 8:30pm. Come back in 30 minutes they said. We close at 10pm. 45 minutes later..Ugh. we dont have it and we gotta order it and we wont get it in until Monday. Meanwhile, I just left the emergency room.

Horrible service staff, everything they dont care about there customers I requested my profile be switch from Riteaid because I moved and they were the closest pharmacy BIG MISTAKE!! A month later it never happened I called this morning and spoke to the pharmacist the guy didn’t even care he told me to call the 1800 number to make a complaint I decided to find a Riteaid in Portsmouth I should have just stayed with them even though there further out the quality of all Riteaid’s are impeccable staff customer service pharmacy everything so thank you Walgreens for kicking some sense into me and showing me all pharmacies aren’t the same some care some don’t and the staff at this Walgreens are horrible and don’t care about you or your health .
This Walgreens was superb!!!!!! This particular day was a busy day in the pharmacy world. Every Walgreens, CVS, and Rite aid from Suffolk to Chesapeake was busy and understaff. However this Walmart having the same issues had such a great sense of urgency in making sure the customers was in and out.The other pharmacy site and company did not and that was the most disappointing part. I dont recomend doing business with the store at 700 frederick blvd portsmouth. You send in prescriptions hours in advance and still end up waiting for them to fill the prescriptions at the store. Its ridiculous to have to wait when you have ordered ahead that long. The store has been nothing but a problem for me. To boot on a previous prescription they quoted me no copays on the phone and $1400 when I got to the store. I have changed everything i could to ingenious home delivery and none of my scripts have copays.
Been going here for years because the location is so convenient. Forget trying to call, be prepared to be on hold for 30 minutes or more! Even at 11 oclock at night! And when you need something emergent, they have no sympathy, and do not know what it means to rush
One of the better Walgreens here. Sometimes I have difficulty finding the cosmetic employee when Im there looking for specific items. The front cashiers are super awesome!
This Walgreens has to be one of the best in the Tidewater area. The staff are courteous, the pharmacists very knowlegable and remarkably patient with even the dumbest questions. And when I leave a pick-up time, my prescriptions are ready on the spot. Ive never had a problem with this store.

Got into a work accident in NC, came home to fill what the Dr. gave me, dropped off, they said 20mins I came back in 30...Wait in line, find out its not ready because its from NC and they had to verify... I had to look the number up for them... It is verified, he says it ok... Then proceeded to take care of everyone in line behind, and some new folks... I have been here for over a hour now... And I dont appreciate the IDGAF about you attitude you guys now have...

This is possibly the best walgreens in portsmouth. The staff is very kind, curteous, and knowledgeable. The pharmacist and pharmacy staff are top notch. If you have the option I highly recommend shopping here.
They get an extra point for being open 24 hours/day including the pharmacy. The rest of the store is a solid 2 stars. Most, if not all, of the healthcare related items I shop for at the store are significantly cheaper at nearby big box competitors or online retailers (Walmart, Amazon, etc.). Weve had the photo center mess up several orders. Most recently my wife had a photo book made for my birthday that wasnt finished when she went to pick it up well after the quoted time. The cover was full of defects when she went to pick it up the second time. And then the pages werent even attached to the book on the third attempt.Update 03/08/2017:Down to 2 stars. Wait times at the drive thru pharmacy have been ridiculous on my recent visits. I always wait for my order to be ready for pickup (email notification) but two visits ago they could not find it and I had to wait for them to fill it again. Last time it took 20 - 30 minutes to get my prescription. This time I left without my prescription after waiting 10 minutes behind three other cars and no one moved. Their second drive thru has been closed for months.
I had surgery on 7/12/18 and once I was discharged, I went to this Walgreens location to have my pain meds filled. I dropped off my prescription and was told it would be a 20 minute wait and that they would call my name over the p.a. when it was ready. Cut to an hour later, Im doubled over in pain and approach the desk to see if I missed my name being called and the tech never put it in, gave me attitude and told me me itd be another 20 minutes. I asked for the prescription back and took it to CVS down the road and was told that by the lack of notation on the prescription, they could tell the previous pharmacy never even attempted to fill it for me.

Extremely slow and unprofessional pharmacy for years. Always understaffed! The store end of the business is a little better.
They lock the door 5 minutes before the store closes.
Only Walgreens I’ve ever been to where the Pharmacy workers are rude as hell & won’t fill a prescription 2 days early.
I called Walgreen on 4/30 @ 845 to 856 pm. The phone rang over 15 Times in 4 different calls. No recording came on and noone answered.
