We’ve had a great experience with Darcy and Maine Camping Gear Rentals. She is a very kind and considerate owner and we consider ourselves lucky to have dealt with her for our first trip in Maine.We rented the family camping gear kit for four adults. Darcy was very accommodating when we asked to switch from 4-ppl tents to 6-ppl tents to fit in 5 of us (we gave extra tips!). The package she prepared was very fulsome and I suggest anyone who is new to camping to rent from her once and see the types of equipment needed. The package really saved us the hassle of bringing anything related to camping (she had everything from utensils to chairs and to sleeping gears, and even salt & pepper, paper towels, and bug sprays).It really takes a passionate owner to be able to prepare a kit that provides for everything.In our deals with Darcy, she has been very responsive and accommodating of our needs in general. I recommend her 100% and look forward to another trip in Maine!

My family recently vacations in Acadia National Park. Since I was traveling cross country I chose to rent rather than bring my own camping equipment. The first challenge was to find an outfitter that had camping equipment in the Portland area, especially for 16 people. I found Maine Camping Gear Rentals on the internet and spoke with the proprietor - Darcy Starrett. I told her after one conversation that she was amazing! She had everything I needed and then some. Professional service and very high quality equipment. Easy pickup and drop off. We had several conversations and Darcy was great to work with. If you are going camping in the Portland area, this is your outfitter. Stop looking!

My husband and I rented a “couples” camping kit from Darcy and we really enjoyed it! The pick up & drop off process was very simple and quick. All of the equipment provided was in great shape and everything functioned very well. She was also quick to respond to emails and expressed that she would be available by phone if we had any issues with our rentals. We have rented camping gear from REI before and I would personally recommended renting camping equipment from Darcy over the REI camping rental! I felt that her camping pack was more comprehensive than the REI one. We also learned how to make coffee with a percolator, which was exciting!

I was incredibly impressed with Maine Camping Gear Rentals and with the owner Darcy! Darcy outfitted and led a group of eight college students and two adult leaders on a three night, four day guided trip through Acadia National Park. Her knowledge was incredible. She provided excellent equipment and our trip was perfect. I cannot recommend her and Maine Camping Gear Rentals highly enough. This is the best experience Ive ever had with a guide!

Never have I felt more at home than I did with Darcy. You can tell she loves what she does from her positive attitude, friendliness, hospitality, and kindhearted nature that she possesses. Such an intelligent woman, would most definitely recommend!

Darcy is incredibly kind and welcoming! I feel so grateful to have gotten to know her over the course of our trip. Its also easy to see that she cares deeply about her work. I had a fantastic experience and I learned so much!

Darcy was welcoming, knowledgeable, and caring on our adventure in Acadia National Park! She was extremely well prepared and had everything we needed on our trip. She also knew ALL the hidden gems of the park that were not crowded with tourists. Her fun-loving, grounded spirit was wonderful to have along with us and Im very thankful for her help :)
