I stopped in without an appointment to try and sell some clothes & shoes. I was fit into their schedule immediately and was treated with such kindness and great conversation from an employee (I really wish I knew your name!). This employee helping me also had to handle a potential theft incident and did so with great poise and professionalism. The store also looked like it had a great selection! And I appreciated knowing where clothing donations would be going every day of the week, as they have different outlets. Great experience!

I have been a Buffalo Exchange fan since the store In Tucson Arizona opened in 1996. Here is what you need to realize, this is not a thrift store. This is not a bargain basement store. This is not like sifting thru goodwill racks. If you want to find random clothes and don’t want to pay for some kind of items, then don’t shop at Buffalo Exchange. If you do want to shop thru lightly used, some designer, some generic, some off the wall items, and still get a great deal…this is the best place in town. Shoes, shirts, jeans, t’s, jackets etc…the buyers select the ideal items they know will sell. Period. So, once again, this is not expensive thrift…it’s a curated designer store bought from you for you.Men’s side rocks. Women’s side looks like it rocks.

Buffalo Exchange went above and beyond helping my mother with her she-mergency during a visit to my new home. The short walk from Cheryl’s on 12th to Buffalo Exchange on Burnside proved more difficult than we realized. With horror, we realized that the straps on her favorite pair of flat sandals snapped! We needed a new pair of sandals, and fast. Thankfully, Buffalo Exchange let us in prior to opening in order that we could fix this issue quickly. Within 5-10 minutes, we were out the door with a new pair of strappy black sandals in her size that she wore the rest of the day exploring my new home with me. Thank you, Buffalo Exchange! You’re amazing, as always.

Ive sold clothes at this Buffalo Exchange many times! They have fair pricing, though it sometimes depends on the person doing the buying. They always have a lot of clothing and shoes, and have some especially fun Halloween items during the fall. The clothes are always clean, and I can always find something that I like! Its a really good place to shop for flannel shirts and oversized sweaters. Sometimes they even have discounted Dr. Martens.

I have never been treated so badly before. Over 9 months of COVID, I have worn a shield. The governors mandate says I am able to wear a shield. I work in food, deal with health inspector, I am allowed to wear my shield. I go to my Dr. and am able to wear my shield. I have panic attacks and cannot breath in masks. I walk into Buffalo Exchange when it first opens with NO ONE ELSE IN THE STORE BUT EMPLOYEES. When I first walk in, the first employee tells me I am not allowed to shop there with it on and I must cover it up with a cloth (not done nicely) then my daughter goes out to her car to get something for me, I cover up the bottom of my shield so it is still off my mouth (yet still covering my face). I walk into the store more with ALL the employees watching just me, another employee told me that still was not ok, I explained to her that the lady at the door told me it was ok, just so long as the opening was covered. Then the original employee from the door comes over and tells me something different that I have to be in full mask. I explain the mandate, the Dr., etc, etc, etc. she said no, I am not allowed to shop here unless I have a full mask on. So we walked out and walked into ALL the other shops, spending hundreds that we were going to spend in Buffalo. I guess their second hand clothing store did not need my money. You do not treat people that way.

Buying and Selling at Buffalo~~~Buying:Just be aware THEY DO NOT WASH the used clothing they sell. Theres no way to know who brought it in (Buffalo Exchange pays cash to anyone who brings in clothes they think will sell. Anyone.) or where that person had found the clothes or what they kept with or whatever substances or skin diseases they were touching. Something you should know before you try them on.Selling:If they like the style of an item you bring in and it is in good condition they will tell you a price that they would sell it for. Out of that price you’ll receive 30% in cash or 50% in store credit. Not a great price really but definitely helpful if you are in need of quick cash.

A great place to score some quality, unique, gently used second hand clothes. Theyve got everything from shoes to short to short, pants, dresses, sunnies, hats and more.Something cool about this place is you can sell your clothes to them and theyll give you either 50% of the selling in store credit or even better...30% cash! Great way to make sure your quality used clothes not only gets into the right hands but also helps you get new clothes without having to spend as much. The workers are really nice and friendly. If youre selling clothes be prepared to possible have to wait maybe you to 30+ min but its definitely worth it. They always have music playing which makes for a great shipping environment!

Review №43

Just a heads up, this review is concerning the selling your clothes, not at the rest of the store. If your goal is to sell your used clothes here, be aware that there doesnt seem to be much consistency when it comes to the items they take or dont take. Ive taken items in that their purchaser declined for one reason or another, only to return later the same day or thr following day with the same items they didnt accept previously, only to have a different employee take them. Theyll often explain why they do or dont take certain items, but I feel that the better youre able to build some kind of rapport, the more likely they are to buy from you. On top of that, if you want the money instead of store credit, youre better off trying to sell them online somewhere. Yes, it takes longer to do that but they consistently lowball with their offers, especially if your appearance isnt the greatest. If youre not dressed well when selling, theyll often offer you less for your clothes(insultingly so sometimes), than if youre dressed to the nines. Ive also seen people that look as though they less affluent get offered less for items than Ive seen them offer to people who seemed more well off with similar items. Its happened to me and Ive seen it happen to others. On the plus side of that though, if youre dressed well youll often have better luck with the items they take and the offers they make for them. All that being said, its a used clothing store that plays at being a high-end retail outlet. They want designer brands, in like new condition, that they pay as little as possible for. Its a good business model for them but you wont get rich selling your clothes. However, it is nice to be able to get a little extra cash for the things you dont wear anymore when times are tight, assuming they want your hand me downs of course. Plus, the staff is generally friendly overall and do their best not to blatantly treat people better or worse based on the quality of the items they bring in. Also, as long as the donation bin isnt full, which usually happens later in the day, theyll donate any items they dont purchase that you dont want to lug back home to one of a few different local charities so even if you dont have good luck selling your old clothes, at least you can help someone out who is less fortunate.3 stars is based on inconsistency in the criteria for purchase as well as the low dollar amounts for even high end garments. Otherwise, would be 4 stars due to the quality of their customer service.

I’ve brought in a suitcase full of clothes to sell to them. They only took 2 shirts and gave me only an option of either $7 in cash or $12 in store credit. When the girl at the selling counter looked at some sunglasses I was trying to sell, she said “They’re in great condition, but they’re not in style” and rejected them. I wasn’t surprised as I know that the staff are finicky hipsters. Buffalo Exchange isn’t all that and a bag of chips in my opinion.

This place can be a gold mine if you have patience. I make frequent trips and Id say once a month I find an unbelievably great deal. I once found brand new Dansko shoes (anyone in the service industry knows what a treasure those shoes are and how much of a hit your wallet can take when purchasing new) for more than 60% off. My only complaint is how crowded the store can get. Many times items near the registers are unreachable due to the many customers that cram in between the racks waiting in line. Overall this place is a gem and we all love a great deal.

Super crammed environment which makes it difficult to pay for items or ask questions. The buying logic isn’t the best out there either. They turn down some really great in style, excellent condition and name brand items considering the options in the store. This is the best place to buy clothes in Portland. While you have to go back frequently as its a total mixed bag, Ive found some really great finds (J Crew, Banana Republic...etc) for a super reasonable price. I think their buyers are very friendly too and buy your clothes that are worth buying. I have gone to both locations with the same shirt and had one store take it and another one not, so do not give up on your first try. I usually always take the store credit versus the cash as there is always something Ill come back and buy (shoes for the winter, shirt for the spring...) so its always worth it to get the extra value and take a trade card.

Not a fan, the store was cramped and a whole bunch of employees were walking around well a big line of people waited because only one register was open. I went in to sell my clothes, it was not a good experience the staff were rude and stuck up, making me feel bad about myself and my clothes. A lot of the stuff I brought in had barely been worn but a lot of the stuff they pulled out they said “it’s to worn” or “too dusty” I was super confused because the clothing obviously weren’t and looking how “dusty” the other clothing in the shop was I would think mine would stand out and be the cleanest.

Not to mention the store is over flowing with ugly junk. It’s litterally jaw dropping the ugly things that you’ll find stuffed on every rack yet they turn down really good stuff. Aside from the obvious, the staff was super odd and kinda had an aggressive attitude like they were waiting and expecting for you to argue with them about why they won’t accept your items. The vibe was unwelcoming, fake and negative. The one shirt that they did accept just so happened to be the only item in my load that wasn’t anything special I would have given it to good will. They give you less that 50% of YOUR cut of YOUR item if you don’t decide to spend it in their store. How is that right? Totally garbage. The entire store reminded me of a pre pubescent wannabe hipster or like tacky Halloween costumes at the Salvation Army.

The person reviewing my items was a woman who I later found out to be the manager. the shoes were worn twice and in brand new condition. Since I was wearing my Anonymous t shirt she treated me differently and humiliated me by saying out loud in front of the whole store that I could keep them and that they had a foul odor of sweat. I am NOT going to just say prejudices are present unless they are truly there. that is when I found out she was the manager when asking for one. she was beyond her scope as an employee let alone a manager as unprofessional as she was. there is now a boycott (#boycottbufex) of Buffalo Exchange present due to the mistreatment of their customers and sellers of items. the managers want in an unjustified actions should not have been presented to me the customer, especially in the fashion that which it had been! shame on you female manager at Buffalo Exchange, and Buffalo Exchange, for promoting such derogatory attitudes!
