Delicious food but I didn’t like the coffee. I’m not sure if it’s Portland’s coffee that just wasn’t my taste or the fact that it was served in paper cups and not proper coffee mugs. But do get the avocado toast, simple yet scrumptious and the pretty and tasty hotcakes 😋

This place is very Portlandia. I ordered the French Toast which came with Oatmeal and Orange slices.. which is as strange and true to Portland as it sounds. It certainly checks the unique box, but underwhelms in the taste category. The prices arent bad and the staff is nice, so if weird food is your thing, try it out I guess?

Delicious, but a little pricey, rec from a local friend. Got the iced nitro coffee with milk (delicious, and I don’t normally opt for iced coffee but it was 95 degrees). Avocado Toast was so so tasty! Generous portion of avocado and accompanying egg I’d sand herbs on soft and chewy sourdough.

Proud Mary is my favorite coffee shop in town! This shop is so unique in that they offer Aussie style coffee, which I have enjoyed learning more about with each visit. Chris is the absolute sweetest barista (and cutest), I always have a lovely experience here when they are on register! Haleys milk steaming skills are impressive, as their milk is consistently smooth like wet paint every damn time. How do you do it Haley? Overall, the atmosphere here is fun and makes for a groovy experience every visit. I will always support Proud Mary.

Update (Sep 2021): Back in Portland and decided to give Proud Mary another try. Hmm.. still not a fan. They are good, but there is always a hint of condescendence as if they know they are the cool kid on Alberta.Original (Feb 2021): I have been to Proud Mary a few times over the past several months and always enjoyed their coffee, although sometimes the wait can be a little long. In terms of food, I think they are overpriced...Well, its one of the most popular spots on Alberta so I guess where the premium is from.

Its like Christmas morning in the form of food. Words cant really explain how amazing this place is! My family and I went to Proud Marys for our birthday brunch and simply couldnt stop talking about how amazing our experience was.Be prepared, there is likely ALWAYS going to be a line/wait but it is well worth it! Its always a bit of a gamble when there is a long wait, hoping its THAT good... well it is!!The atmosphere is fun and inviting. It is a bit different in the sense that there are some shared tables, its cool, make new friends!! Each family member had a different dish and each one was simply delicious. The flavors, rich ingredients and true art from the chefs was apparent and lend itself to the fact that this is probably one of the best brunches Ive ever had.Menu is full of many different options from sweet to savory, all of which you want to try a bite of each!! Bloody Mary was so good, oatmeal was out of this world, pancakes were perfect and that is barely scratching the surface.Rose was our waitress and she was wonderful. Super kind and really sweet. At the end of our meal we were all so impressed that we went up to the chefs in the cool open kitchen set up to not only thank them for sharing their amazing art but also to give them a standing ovation!!Dont take my word for it, go try it for yourself. You wont be sorry!

Feeling a bit bad to leave 2 stars but I want to shout out to the owner as I’d want someone to do the same to mine.10 minutes Uber here with a group of friends because seeing high reviews on Google. Food was so good and we all think this is the best place in the area for breakfast or brunch. But unfortunately! 5 of us ordered separately and we all experienced the same. The staff was shockingly unfriendly, so so unfortunately and kinda rude. It seems to us that they hate their job or not having a good day especially the ones with long curly hair with tattoos also wearing a glasses that was taking our orders. She gave us only one smile when asking for tips. If we are going back to this place again? Maybe, If we want to recommend this place to anyone? Definitely yes. Hope the staff are more friendly so people can have the best experience with good food and the best service.

Maybe we can give this place another try some time? Wasnt impressed with their coffee or breakfast. I had a sausage sandwich that was so salty, it was inedible. Their coffee tasted bitter and astringent, unpleasant. Maybe a bad batch, busy rush, bad day, who knows? I know what the foods and coffees in Australia/New Zealand are like and this was not at all what I would expect from an Australian place. Especially, their coffee culture is amazing and this place did not by any means feel minutely close to how good the coffee is when you try a good café from Melbourne or Auckland. Which made me a bit sad, I miss it out there and would love to go back as soon as possible.

Lets be honest, if you are coming here, you are likely coming for the coffee. Which is amazing. The food options are limited yet tasty, and a handful of somewhat unique offerings will undoubtedly keep me coming back. No indoor seating, yet I did end up with a table outside in the roadside seating area, despite how busy it was. It may get better as restrictions ease up.

We were able to get in just in time before the wait began so that was my first good experience. My first bad experience was the fact that the water they give you comes in a bottle and they offer 2 glasses for you to fill on your own. They switch the bottles once they’re empty but they don’t fill the bottles with cold water so what you pour into your glass is lukewarm tap water. I had to ask for a glass of ice. I definitely think they should have a pitcher of ice water to refill the bottles. It’s a really simple thing. The second good experience was the dollar mocha which tasted delicious! I hadn’t been before and didn’t know what to expect really. I wasn’t really into the menu other than a simple buttered toast and eggs with a side of kale. Everything else seemed entirely new to me and I wasn’t sure what I would and wouldn’t like so I ordered what I knew I’d enjoy and I did. I hadn’t realized the most simple and cheapest meal would be so much. It came with 2 large slices of bread and egg prepared to your choosing on top. The toast was buttered to perfection. If you have multiple kiddos I would definitely suggest ordering that for them to share. All in all, aside from the water, I really enjoyed the food and the friendly and quick service. I would suggest to look at the menu before going. My wife picked it out so I was able to comprise with the eggs and toast.

The Australian iced coffee was milky which if you are into that, thats great. They try too hard to distinguish themselves as eclectic, fusion-driven flavorful organic food. Too many ingredients, too many colors, and flowers on food. I get it, it appeals to a specific demographic but it defeats the purpose of dining at a restaurant for its food. For that matter, the folks are extremely friendly and service-oriented, but their service processes are weak: slow service, slow to be seated, to be served, and to get the food. Even getting the bill takes an exorbitant amount of time. Pork sandwich: liquid smoke flavor + Vietnamese style ingredients on a black brioche bun? A mismatch of flavor. Pancake with sweat cream and honey? Too sweat even for dessert. Coffee: excellent, but not worth the wait. Order to go and eat your food in the car.

One of the best cafés not just in Portland, but in the country. Everything they do at Proud Mary is on another level. From beautifully plated food made from the best ingredients (and local ingredients too - supporting local farmers and makers) to tasty and rare coffees, this place is definitely worth a visit. I go once a week, at least. A bit more spendy, but for good reason. Think, quality over quantity. You’re paying for local produce, high quality ingredients, and hard work in the kitchen. Coffee is more expensive there because the coffee farmers are getting paid a fair wage. I’m happy to spend a little more knowing that ❣️ Everyone there is super nice as well, and willing to accommodate you in any way they can. Plus every time I’ve been in, the music they play has been amazing. Not generic cafe music but really good tunes. Basically... just go there and see for yourself.
