Just a fun, locally owned family business that never disappoints. Owner operated and she is so very kind. We feel rejuvenated everytime we visit. A quiet atmosphere and everyone can find an option that works for them. There is great coffee, light fare food, beer/cider, and a relaxing outdoor area to watch the birds.

Everything Ive had so far has been great. breakfast bagel sandwiches, breakfast burrito, scones, and cinnamon rolls have all been great. I think the coffee is good, but Im not a great judge of that.Good outdoor seating, good indoor seating, and a nice feel in a converted home. I also love the location being tucked away in a neighborhood away from everything.Polite and friendly staff, good food and drinks, and good atmosphere - will definitely return regularly

I came in from Houston, TX for my moms funeral and needed a place to hold a reception afterwards. Jo was very accommodating and worked with me to create the kind of reception my mom would have enjoyed - an English tea! She offered English tea sandwiches, scones and thumbprint cookies. The only concession to the warm weather we made was iced tea instead of hot tea. The food and beverages were delicious! They worked out the logistics so I could place photos and other memory items on one of their tables. Jo and Allison were terrific and made a difficult situation pleasant.

Possibly the best neighborhood cafe in Portland. There, Ive said it. Maplewood Coffee is in a super cool historic building with lots of tables and has a pretty garden in back. Extracto coffee is served. On the con side, parking is tricky and there are few outlets.Fantastic place overall. Highly recommend!!

Quaint house converted to a coffee shop. Plenty of space, great mix of pastries and coffee/tea selections. The breakfast platter was delicious. Baked eggs were flavorful, potatoes, bacon and sourdough bread sprinkled with rosemary. Wonderful breakfast. My wife enjoyed the biscuit and bacon. The chocolate croissant was OK. Very flakey, but not enough chocolate in it. Great atmosphere. If you are driving or walking, keep your eyes open, because it blends into the neighborhood.

Attitude of the barista on a Saturday morning was horrendous. Yelling, snappy, and agitated beyond belief. I brushed off her rudeness the first time, but our second interaction had my friend and I questioning wether we should get our money back and leave. Shame because she made a great cup of coffee and the place was darling. Also if you want to talk bad about other customers, maybe do it in the back, we can hear you and it doesnt bode well. For a neighborhood coffee spot the drama here was way too much for us. So much for supporting a small business. We tried.

What a little find! Nestled between trees in an quaint neighborhood. A beautiful historic home has been converted to a coffeehouse. Gorgeous inside! Calm atmosphere and music. Plenty of seating for larger gatherings and twosomes. Outdoor seating as well when the weather cooperates. Unique drinks and food with a nice variety. Will cater to meat, vegan, gluten free and in between. Friendly staff. Glad to make it here and I’ll be back.

I was in Portland for Memorial Day Weekend and wanted a strong organic cup of coffee to start my day. So, my cousin suggested Maplewood. Hidden in a quaint neighborhood, it looks more like a house then a cafe. They have a small parking lot and plenty of street parkIng available. When you walk in the front entrance there is a big open room to your left with tables for your laptops if you want to nestle in and write or catch up with friends. More room is available by the counter where you order.Staff is very friendly. Prices are moderate. You can take your order to go or sit at a table. We sat outside on the porch at a cute sofa and table. I look forward to going back the next time I am visiting.

Their website states “great service” among other great things they do, but on this day they didn’t deliver. Making a customer wait while it seemed one of the owners talked business with another person blocking the register and not acknowledging me—a paying customer—waiting to be served. While I like to support neighborhood businesses, it will be a while before I venture back in to spend my money.

This was a quintessential misty Portland afternoon and I was searching for an equally quintessential Portland coffeeshop experience.Well, not really.I was actually on a deadline, hungry, in need of a decent coffee, and, well, just wasnt feeling Starbucks, so when I hit up Yelp and found a coffee and tea cafe with WiFi called Maplewood that was housed in a neighborhood Victorian less than a mile away, it was a no-brainer.After that tasty chicken caprese sandwich and kombucha on tap followed up with a perfect cappucino in a clean, comfortable, decently priced warm & inviting space, I now look forward to the next time I have a gig in that part of town just so I can swing by this charming gem again.

This is a quaint little coffee shop tucked into a beautiful neighborhood. So slow down, take in the scenery and grab a coffee here at Maplewood. Truly I should have went with their bees knees choice of a sweet treat drink. But I went opposite and got a hot chocolate so it didnt live up to what I wanted. But the space is big and cozy all the same. There was plenty of places to sit and have different conversations. We had a business meeting and our area and view was great. I definitely would come here often. The food looks great but its a bit far from me. So when Im in the neighborhood Maplewood wins my choice.

The good - Great atmosphere and aesethic. Thoughtfully and ethically curated food and menu inclusive to all needs. Great ingredients, higher prices for the quality. So much so, this cafe was word of mouth. I drove over half an hour to scope it out. Hole in the wall coffee shops are my thing. I arrived 2.25 hours before it was to close, 2:45pm. Grabbed my laptop and set out to do work in a beautiful space. Ended up a dissatisfied. The bad - customer service. Inconsiderate, impatient, and rude.I have been in the food service industry for over a decade. This is my first time leaving a negative review. I understand it is not an easy job, and dealing with the public can be exhausting.I bought a brunch bowl, a coffee, and a vegan pastry the tip came to over $25. Thats okay. I like to think I spend money wisely towards good business. They ran out of water. I got up to ask for more. They told me to go to the other water station. I mentioned it was out as well. They shrugged their shoulders and continued to chat in the kitchen. Then they came up to me after I switched seats (battery was dying, needed to be by an outlet). A server came up to me and told me they would be closing an hour earlier than normal. The cafe had over a dozen people in it.Wasted my time making such a trek and spending money.I did not feel welcomed or accepted. There are many coffee shops with great food. Only go to this one if it is your neighborhood. It is a beautiful space, but shoddy service.

Food and tea was good. But, unfortunately, I have a complaint. I was in there an hour and I saw multiple diaper aged children (babies/todlers) but when I went into the restroom to change my baby, I noticed there was no changing table. So I had to get down on my hands and knees, only a month post c-section and another abdominal surgery, to change my daughter. Please please consider your patrons. Changing tables and pads can be found very cheaply online. I will not be returning until this is fixed. Im sure other parents feel the same. Id rather not have to change her at a table just because I cant get up and down.
