I went to Tails and Trotters expecting a good sandwich, what I did not expect was to be blown away. I ordered the grinder and it was superb, truly excellent quality of meat, each cut singing with its own distinct, tasty flavor. Everyone who works here is passionate about what they do, kind, and helpful, especially the owners who take a lot of pride in their craft. I cant wait to come back to try all their products, truly a local gem!

I love all kinds of meat butchery and sandwiches from those butcheries! I had pork porchetta sandwich and it was okay. It was little bit drier than I expected. I tried their sample pate and it was amazing. I will be back for something with pate next time :p. The atmosphere and the service were great.

After finding Tails and Trotters, pork from anywhere else is just disappointing. Plus, their soups are to die for- especially the naked dumpling soup. I could seriously eat that every day for the rest of my life and be happy about it. Plus, all of the people there are wonderful and amazing human beings. Highly recommend!

Driving from Seattle to Dallas Oregon, we wanted to experience a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives spot. Stopped in to Tails & Trotters! OUTSTANDING experience. The staff and the the food was 5+ stars. everything pork related was available and deliciously luscious and flavorful. A must eat.

Wow. Incredible sandwiches from this spot. We got the Mortimer and porchetta and both had very unique flavor profiles. The porchetta was my favorite with an excellent blend of spice with the pork flavor and the shaved crisp lettuce which put it over the top. I can see why they are so popular. Definitely would come back in the future.

I had the Mortimer. It was incredible. It was one of those you get sad eating it when your half done..because you only have half left. If it wasnt so spendy I would have gotten another one to go for later. I am sure all the other sandwiches & meats are good but next time I go Im pretty sure Ill get the Mortimer again.

They make a pulled pork sandwich on a long roll that makes my mouth water whenever I think about it. The bread is always fresh, the pulled pork is smokey vinegar perfection, and the creamy slaw balances out the tang. All for $10. A must-try in the heart of Kerns.

I went to Pie Spot last week with my boyfriend and I saw something amazing from Tails and Trotters. There was a man sitting on a wooden bench outside their store front. He was disheveled, not wearing a mask whittling away on something when a woman from Tails and Trotter came out. What happened next was a sign of complete compassion and what humanity should be all about. That little moment warmed my heart so much. She squatted down to be at his level and had a conversation with the man. I expected she was going to tell him he had to leave. I couldn’t hear what was being said but I could see the level of compassion and respect the staff member had through her body language and the interaction. The conversation lasted a few minutes before the staff member when back inside. When she left the man put away whatever he was whittling on and sat there. Moments later the same staff member come out with a bag of chips and something to drink. He opened the bag of chips and sat there quietly.I am thankful for the mess up that occurred with our order at Pie Spot because it aloud me the see the whole interaction take place from start to finish. After sometime had passed, the same staff member came out with one of their famous sandwiches handed it to the man and I could hear her say as we walked passed, “See not everyone is evil.”Based on that one sentence I could tell, she took the time to have a real conversation with this man, to learn about him and went in with an open heart from the start. We need more of her in this world.

Amazing meats and classic sandwiches. Its a lot like a butcher, with freezers full of meat and fresh made dog treats. I had a Mortimer hot sandwich and enjoyed it thoroughly. The meat lacks the saltiness you typically associate with pork and is rich to taste. Its expensive, but definitely not bad

I’ll be coming back here to grab what I need from them! The process was super easy to, I had emailed them to get a quote on how much it would be for 1lb of Guanciale and Jowl bacon, and that they would be able to have it ready for pick up at my earliest convenience. Seen the place on Tv was so excited to have some purpose fed pig. ordered six racks of ribs for a party, went to pick them up and they had no meat on them??? Still paid, went else where to get ribs with meet on them cause of the size of party. After all said and done there was enough meat on a half rack of ribs to make a half sandwich. Very disappointed. However The shop had many other very good looking meats that looked delicious.

One of the better places to not only grab a meal in Portland, but get really good food to cook as well. I just wish they would stay open longer, but its not exactly a restaurant per say. Id love to see them expand their menu too, but everything Ive tried so far has been very high quality. Their pork is very high level, so if youre going to get anything - I would start with that.

Pork Paradise is at 24th & Sandy, this place is the best! I used to stop by 2-3 times a month for their pork chops, sausage, bacon, and an occasional sandwich. Then they had the fire last year, and I freaked out until they announced they’d rebuild. After a year of pork withdraw, thank God they’re back in business, and better than before. Everything Aaron and the guys at T&T’s make is fantastic, off the charts good, did I mention the prosciutto?

They claim that the pigs they use are fed hazelnuts. When asked how much and for how long, I always get a vague answer. So being a suspicious guy I guess each pig is given one hazelnut before slaughter. Fried some of their bacon along with some from Olympia Provisions. Asked my sister to taste both and she said the bacon from Olympia Provisions definitely tasted better.

I only managed to get here once, just before the fire. Sadly I couldnt wait the 30-odd minutes for a sandwich, but did buy some nice thick British style back bacon.........and oh my word it was brilliant. I am not a foodie and typically find all this with a hint of XXXX stuff just passes me by. But you seriously could taste the hazelnuts that the pigs are fed. If I could rate this place higher, I would! These folks are doing it right - deeply respecting the animal, and the resulting flavor and texture and quality are amazing. My 2 1/2 year old daughter and I went here to use a gift certificate I received for Father’s Day. My daughter and I shared the Classic Ham Sandwich and we got a Porkstrami to go for my wife. My wife and I were both very satisfied with the freshness of the sandwiches and the balanced flavors. The classic ham hit the spot with the gruyere and levain pairing perfectly together in the sandwich. The flavor of the ham was exactly what I was looking for, as I thought it was more mild in brine salt flavor and not overpowering. I would go back again and try more sandwiches and get my next order of spare ribs from them. On a customer service note they surprised my daughter with a plate of small rolled up pieces of ham and cheese! Great business and excellent food! We will be going back.

They deserve their high review rating. This place is beloved by my two roommates who are chefs. I’ve had the pleasure of eating their reuben sandwich. I didn’t even take the time to photograph it. Picked up a few things there on Saturday. The first was scrapple. I was so excited to see they had scrapple, it is inner of my favorite things hands down. I couldnt wait for Sunday breakfast. Boy, was I disappointed. The consistency was all wrong, there were big chunks of meat throughout the loaf. Made it nearly impossible to slice thinly. The seasonings were not close to traditional at all, it should have been called onion loaf.We also picked up an inside ham for Easter dinner. Now that didnt disappoint. Im sure it was the best ham Ive ever had. Juicy and tender, and more flavor than one would expect. It was on the pricey side, but worth it. Doubt I will ever again buy a ham anywhere else. Just wish they would fix the scrapple.

Every time we visit our friends in Portland were blown away by the food scene, and we live in the SF Bay Area. This time we stopped at Tails & Trotters for a ham. If you examine labels on ham-like products in most grocery stores youll notice that actual unqualified ham is rare or non-existent. The folks at T&T handed over a gorgeous 6 pound cut of cured and smoked pork leg that has absolutely ruined me for any lesser ham ever again. Now I wish I had bought lots more of the stuff they had available.I called up T&T just before Christmas and got easy but detailed advice on cooking the ham. I used a braiser with the lid on at 300 for 15 minutes a pound then top off, glazed, blasted at 450 for 10 minutes to brown and crisp the glaze. Im getting hungry describing it.
