Everything we go, everything is absolutely delicious & to die for!!! Great food, cocktails & dessert! & if you dont drink alcohol they have plenty non-alcoholic stuff to choose from too!! You wont regret it visiting this place for brunch/lunch/dinner. Our bartenders/hosts Kelan & I believe his name was Jesse or maybe Jared? They were AMAZING . Best service Ive ever had.
Lunch for three $60Roast beef was pretty good, lots of meat and lettuce was crisp. Not a fan of the bread, it allows the condiments to go through and get on your hands.Turkey was similar. My son liked the burger.Fries are solid. Definitely recommend the potato Salad also. The 3 star rating is because of the soup. Or should I say flavored sausage broth. It was a sausage bean soup, but had contained neither item.
Food and drinks are really really good. Its a little pricey, but theyre actually good amounts of food.Service was good, staff was super friendly.Nice big outdoor tent with heaters.
Truly exceptional meal including albacore poke, octopus confit, steak and greens.
Bummed, man. Can’t speak of the food because we didn’t get the chance. Called Tuesday morning and made reservations for a group of four at 7pm Thursday. Guy who took the reservation was very sweet and said the manager “wasn’t in yet” but they would call back that afternoon to confirm. Even said if we added a fifth person it would be no problem. Didn’t hear back but wasn’t worried. Thursday, day of reservation, got a voicemail at noon from a woman (Manager? They didn’t identify) saying they didn’t have any availability at that time and we could try for 4:15pm but it might be given away for that time, as well. Wow. I had to call the people in my party and tell them day of that Laurelhurst had canceled. Spent the rest of the afternoon calling other restaurants with no luck. It was my birthday.
Disappointing dining experience overall. We were greeted by a surly host who seemed terribly unhappy to have to deal with a customer. We had outdoor seating, which was approximately 50 degrees with woefully inadequate space heaters. We were moved inside by the same - now overwhelmed - host (the restaurant was empty).Appetizers of brussel sprouts and salad were excellent and the best part of the meal. My $60 rib-eye, requested medium rare, was served less than rare at below room temperature. When I requested it be further cooked to a higher temperature, was told by our waitrees that it was impossible that it was not cooked to specifications.Overall, the staff there seemed disgruntled and discontented, and we were made to feel fortunate to have the blessings of their time and bill. Meat was above average, but served at a caliber below price point. I would not recommend to others or return there.
This was hands down the best meal out I have ever eaten. The food was so good. The service was impeccable and the dining tent was beautiful. A truly special experience.
I had a reservation and it took 15 minutes to get seated and then another 15 to get communication from the server. I was very close to walking out and wish I had given that the food was very mediocre. In my mind, the idea of a steakhouse is to get a better steak than you can make at home and excellent service. I received neither. This was my 2nd time here and I will not return.
The food is amazing but the service always leaves me feeling uncomfortable. Even with the day time lunch service I get the feeling that the staff feels like it is too good to help me. This attitude has me not wanting to go back even for the great food.
This restaurant is one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining at!!! The quality of their recipes from appetizers to salads to sides and on to their entrées is truly of the absolutely highest level. I knew by reputation that this was a great restaurant however I grossly underestimated exactly HOW great! Instantly one of my favorite restaurants anywhere ever!!
My wife requested this place for her birthday as neither of us had ever been. Sadly the steakhouse refused to give us a birthday reservation because they only book parties of up to 6 people and our group of 10 was just too much to handle. Very disappointing.
For lunch time its:4 star food3 star selection3 star price.? stars on packaging for lunch. Everything is served to go, which is ok, but seems a bit wasteful...Looking forward to updating my review when I try dinner.
Simone was wonderful, very professional. . Our meal was delicious! Wanted to take my bone marrow home and sleep with the bone! Scrumptious
Unfortunatly My rib eye steak was undercooked. I asked for medium rare and it was really rare. I feel so uncorftable saying anything so i just ate what I could and left the rest.
Pretty good food. Steaks were on point. Pretty good drinks. Friendly staff.
This place stopped offering take-out and increased indoor seating during the deadliest and most vulnerable times of the pandemic. Instead of focusing on community safety, they chose to focus on capitalism and maximizing their capacity like a right-wing, conservative group would.
Have only eaten here a few times but not been disappointed either time. The food and service are Excellent !
Delicious! This is my third time here. I got the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. Coming back again for more.
If you looking to eat foie gras by good hand cook this is best place
I spent $18 on a dry sandwich and under cooked fries. That might be okay at 6 or 7 dollars, but at the price they charge its unacceptable.
Listen up people. If you havent eaten here, please go, you will not be disappointed. I literally cant say one bad thing about Laurelhurst. Food, staff, atmosphere are all top notch! A tad bit pricy, but as always, you pay for what you get. Favorite eatery in town! My recommendation is the beef tartar, its phenomenal!
Solid service and delicious meal. Im admittedly not a foodie and do not have a refined palate at all... this place leaned a wee bit foodie (which I say really as a compliment--solid, farm to table food, with refined and thoughtful pairings of flavors and entrees that were both solid and creative) but still satisfied my non-refined palate! A wee bit on the expensive side, but again that makes sense for the kind of place it was. The cocktail was a bit sweet and a bit watery, but good. We also got the charcuterie board--it was definitely the first time Ive had a charcuterie board that has no cheese on it, but the meats were good, and given theres a connected butchery, that makes sense. Great experience overall!
Lizzie is great and gave us a really good service
Another AMAZING meal at The Laurelhurst. We come here often. We love that they support small local farms. They have a perfect matching sauce with every entre. Its a high end experience for a reasonable price EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.This is their Colette steak w/brocolinni & roasted heirloom carrots and ricotta.
A bit awkward upon entry, but great food and friendly service once seated.
Nice deli with sausages, pate and assorted charcuterie. The bar isnt open until dinner service, you can order wine and beer. They seem a little confused about there wine selection.Way over priced for dinner service .
Awesome food, great service, and decent prices for what youre getting!Laurelhurst Market is not cheap by any standard, but the value is certainly there. The deviled eggs are kind of amazing and as long as youre not sitting near a few obnoxiously drunk 20-somethings, youll have a great time.
5 of us ate in the tent. It felt very safe and our servers consistently took the safety measures very seriously. Three food was delicious, too - every single thing we ordered was fabulous. We had steaks, sides, and desserts. And we celebrated being able to be out safely at a restaurant that took the virus seriously.
Delicious sandwiches and a fantastic covered outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!
They consistently get orders wrong, I have no idea how its even possible to screw up this much. Theyre probably too busy comparing tattoos with each other to do their job. Outrageousely expensive too, get Charlies Deli or Sammich instead.
Bottom line up front: good steak that may be overshadowed at times by accoutrements, but otherwise tasty and paired with a great, affordable wine list. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Supposedly this is a hot spot to grab dinner so we decided to check it out while in Portland for the night. Ended up going here for some more modernized dishes over ringside for the traditional approach. We started with wine. Good restaurant prices for some of these bottles. Then we moved on to appetizers to share. The tomatoes and cucumbers was probably the best choice. Fresh tomatoes from local farms. The pesto was tasty. The bone marrow was good, but nothing special. The everything bagel and homemade horseradish sauce, however, made this dish. The scallops were small, and slightly overcooked, but tasty. They were served with some interesting fish cake like items. The steak was good. But not great. The selection of beef was wide and served a variety of ways. We thought we would try the classic cuts (strip and ribeye) as well as the burger. The burger and fries were a hit. The meat was tasty, and well cooked, but the strip was smothered with a tomato condiment that overshadowed the cut of meat. The ribeye was paired better with a caramelized pepper condiment that was sweet and smokey and worked well with the meat. We also tried their spin on fried green beans that were very good.Overall a great dinner. Somewhat expensive, but not bad since it was split and we got to try a bunch of things. Would probably go back and try some of the other more inexpensive cuts of meats.
Excellent steaks! Great service!
Laurelhurst Market is an excellent choice for a casual dinner out. The steaks I have had here have been high-quality and cooked to perfection. They also offer a beautiful selection of exciting side dishes to accompany your entree. The wait staff is professional and courteous. The in house meat market offers a great variety of charcuterie.
Good service. Super cute tent/patio area.
@teresabliving Had a very COVID safe experience here and would recommend it. I think it was their first night open with more patrons, the staff seemed a little overwhelmed but it would not stop me from coming back. I had steak and fries and it was perfect.
Tuesdays only fried chicken. Available starting at 11 until sold out. Sold by the pound. Breading is crunchy with the right combination of salty, slight spiciness, and a hint of sweet. Took off a star because chicken was cold despite showing up promptly at 11. Hoping this is just a fluke since its the first time it happened to me. Definately worth a try. Sits amongst the better fried chickens in the city.
Cozy outdoor patio and wonderful service! The steak was incredible, and I loved all the flavors! The food was beautifully plated and made with quality ingredients. Great spot for a special date night.
Always great food! We always leave full, and as usual the service was wonderful!
Spendy as expected. Terrific, innovative steakhouse experience 🤙
An absolute institution here in Portland. Despite lots of competition, Laurelhurst proves consistently that they provide the best food in town. This is must hit for visitors and locals alike. Go for any steak that has their Cowboy Candy. Unbelievable, especially when paired with one of their signature cocktails. Not to mention the best lunch sandwiches in PDX.... enjoy.
This is not a market, although they sell all of their onsite meats in a deli. A culinary experience from their charcuterie tray, to the type of menu you just cannot decide which to choose. Very crowded, snug space, reservations a must. Everything is nice. I highly recommended this place.
A friend of mine recommended this place. they are supposed to have the wagyu to die for. to be honest, it was tasty but we were not impressed. the appetizers werent served until 25 minutes after the server took our order. then another 25 minutes for the entree. too be fair it was a busy Friday night so the wait didnt bother me too much. but the food just didnt taste as amazing as I expected. the service is satisfying though, like I said it was a busy Friday night so I understand the wait. the best part of the meal is Smoked Marrow Bones. juicy, greasy and so much flavor.
Laurelhurst Market has been serving up the best creative plates on the east side for several years now, and have not lost the magic that made them the one of the best restaurants in town. Vegans may want to go elsewhere, but this place rocks the steak universe. Glad theyre a fixture in the Laurelhurst neighborhood!
Bought some sausages to grill at home. As far as I could tell, really flavorful. I like their selection.
Awesome place! I fly to Portland once a year and always have to visit this place. The service is excellent and food is amazing. The specials they recommend is always so worth a try. We had a 60-day cured ribeye and it was enough to share with 2 people (with the side and appraiser). Pork chop I had was very nice too! It was so soft and flavorful. It came with beans with sausage bits which was strong as the pork chop. Im always tempted to grab something to go from the meat shop - I wish I live in this area!We visited with a party of 5, and all meals came pre sliced (cut), ready to share. We had a wonderful time.
Quite possibly the best steak (ribeye) that Ive ever had. The service and ambiance were top-notch, particularly during the pandemic. Not cheap, but definitely worth coming here for a special occasion.
Our waitress was exceptional! The food was very good. The only thing I didnt care for was the on & off of the masks they require. Everytime the server would approach the table they want you to put on your mask. So, with order taking, checking back and clearing of plates etc we must have had to take them on & off a dozen times or more. Annoying & excessive.
The food was amazing and it was very warm under the tent. As it is obviously during new dinning conditions due to Covid they definitely have a big miss in customer service. They do not mention on the site you need reservations! Yes, it’s already hard enough to find a place to eat outside but you need a reservation! They have empty tables and will still not seat you unless you have a reservation! Make a reservation!
If steak is what you are craving, this is where to go. Gourmet flavors run throughout the menu from deviled eggs with pancetta to the caramelized carrots side, you really cant go wrong. The aged ribeye is the ultimate in my opinion and is cooked to perfection at medium-rare. If you are a little more adventurous, the bone marrow starter is steak flavored butter that melts in your mouth. Make a reservation if you want a table any night of the week, otherwise you can try your luck at the bar.
Tastes great! Great meat and sea food restaurant. Thanks for the lovely out door seating and your service😃🍻
I visited at dinner for date night, 8:15 reservations, smooth enough service, ordered chacutterie board, it was decent enough, our server was very polite.. we ordered 2 steak frites w/ a side of bone marrow at 8:27, and unfortunately didnt see any food until 9:30. Dont know what the back of house breakdown was but the server acted like we havent been waiting over a hour.. food good... service meh..
Anytime your server says, Im really proud of our menu right now. That is a really great sign. And when the hostess seats you and asks that you put your masks on whenever waitstaff is at your table, that is a really great sign! The carrots were incredible.Great job Jordan!
Best steaks in town. Been so many times. The outside area is a bit cold, so dress appropriately. Other then that service was decent, food was excellent tonight.
This is for the butcher shop and deli. The best folks work there. The meat quality is amazing, and great specialty stuff. Sausages are delicious, especially the boudin blanc. Just got some pate (country and boar), Im sure they wont disappoint.
We went to Laurelhurst Market for my birthday, on December 6th, 2020, during Covid. Very few restaurants were open, because they can only do take out or outdoor seating. We chose the restaurant because they were open & had outdoor seating under a big tent in their parking lot.The food was AMAZING! Unfortunately, the deliciousness of the meal, was overshadowed by how COLD it was under the tent. It was really difficult to enjoy our meal, because we were so cold.As we left, I went into the restroom, and was shocked to see a bunch of propane heaters all sitting outside the doors. Not sure why they didn’t have those fired up, as they would have made for a more pleasant dining experience. Now that it’s been a few weeks, I’ve seen many other restaurants that are now open, using propane heaters under tents to keep their customers warm.My recommendation to the restaurant.... Bring the heaters under the tent so your customers are comfortable, then I’ll return & encourage my friends to as well.* 3 stars because it was too cold* 5 stars for the food
We had the rib eye and the New York The meats themselves were wonderful cuts, texture and flavor was superb. The problem was the sauces - way too many flavors layered on, and the meat came pre cut so it was luke warm by the time we consumed it (medium rare, should be mix between hot exterior and cool interior, imo). Absolutely love the atmosphere so I hate to not give a five star review. But we unfortunately can not return due to the sauces and seasonings.
You will not be disappointed in the menu and service. The staff was sociable and attentive. Prices were fair for the quality of the food. Atmosphere is like a restaurant in Fort Worth I loved.
I went there the other day for lunch with my mom which it was her first time, Im a regular customer. We ordered lunch and sat on the patio. Now mind you, its 45 degrees and I have a broken foot and on a scooter. We ask if someone can turn the heaters on and they refused saying its reserved only for dinner customers. We were both freezing and made us eat and not really enjoy lunch. I love their food, but that is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. I go out all over Portland and surrounding areas and NEVER had I had any establishment, tell me that we couldnt use the heaters. I will think 2x before ever going back
Great place, people, and, of course, food!
So my fiance and i went here for the first time on my 3 year clean date and i gotta the say it was absolutely epic
Booked a table to eat here tonite. It’s one of my go-to favorite places in Portland from the Pre-COVID times. Got dressed up nice for a date with the wife, drove down there to find that they were closed because of COVID-related something or other. We looked them up on Instagram to find out that they’d been closed since Saturday due to a COVID scare. So in the two days since (this was on a Monday night) they hadn’t bothered to reach out to all the people who had tables booked and let them know that they would be closed. I’ll be waiting until COVID is over (2030?) to try and eat there again. Luckily Farmhouse Thai on Hawthorne was open for take out so the evening wasn’t a total wash. Book a table there instead.Word of advice to Laurelhurst Market, if you’re going to close and you have active reservations booked? pick up the phone. Not only is it professional, it’s the decent thing to do...
We loved Laurelhurst pre-pandemic and love them more now. Easily one of the most organized responses and best atmosphere under the circumstances. Food and drinks continue to be great.
Delicious and so good to be out again!!!Thanks for a great meal and surviving the last year!Grateful!
We decided to try their famous fried chicken sandwich that they only serve on Tuesday. For a hefty price of $11 and some change, you get one sandwich a la carte. The first thing I noticed was the chicken was cold. When we indulged in fried chicken sandwiches in the past, the chicken was always hot, juicy, and crispy. We decided to look past that and took a bite. Much to our disappointment, the experience didnt get better. Although the pickled zucchini and sauce was a nice touch, the cold chicken masked the other delicate details of the sandwich. For the price, I would at least expect some chips or at the VERY least, a fresh out of the fryer fried chicken. Needless to say, we will not be recommending Laurelhurst for their fried chicken sandwiches.
The food was okay. Drinks took probably 3-4 times longer than I anticipated. Long wait had to sit at bar and bar tenders weren’t friendly until our bill was up to $300, then they started being nice... hm convenient. Wouldn’t go back
Food is good. Been here three times during the pandemic. The patio is awesome and feels very safe, but help me out! There is no consistency in messaging on how to dine and how to clear or not clear our tables. We all miss the human touch, but I feel like nobody cares here! I want to like you, but you’re making it hard. It feels like the staff is all miserable. No personal touch at all! This is a challenging time for all of us, but please make us feel like we want to overcompensate you.
Ive been shopping at the butcher shop for years and I am always absolutely blown away by the quality, variety and all around stellar products available for lil ol me!!The staff are super rad and cordial all with a wealth of knowledge. Fried chicken Tuesdays are the best, easily some of the best fried chicken in the city. There is always something to discover here and lots of items on-hand to help spark some major creativity in the kitchen!!
Their main export is class warfare
We are grateful for how this establishment treated us. We felt safe. We celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary tonight. It was a beautiful night with amazing service and incredible food. A huge thank you to all the staff who made it possible for us to celebrate our anniversary with amazing food and good people.
Food is always great and they have a very good ordering and socially seating layout.
Wonderful Food Served with Pride. Laurelhurst Market is a great place for dinner. Their food is really top notch. Their cocktails are very good. Its not a great place for young kids but ideal for couples. Their take on a ribeye steak is its own style and Amazing. I like to add their cowboy candy which is candied jalapenos. The mac and cheese is yummy. Their menu changes often. The parking lot is small. Most likely youll need to find street parking so allow time to find a spot. Last time they didnt have access to cash for change. Claimed it was a COVID thing.
Dine-in is dialed on their giant deck and take out orders are consistently on time and perfect. Highly recommend!
They have done a great job creating a comfortable and safe outdoor dining area. Safety is key and the setting is lovely. Food and service were top notch!!
Great service, great food!
Yum!! Came in for lunch to grab a salad and a sandwich. Blown away by both. The ingredients were all fresh and great quality. The flavor of the meat was amazing and moist. Even the salad dressing on the chef salad was above and beyond. Cant wait to come back for dinner!
I had the Steak and Greens. So good! Steak cook perfectly medium rare, salad was a good portion. The service was on point and courteous. Would love to go again.
Went for a birthday dinner and enjoyed every moment.
We have been going here for years....the food is always pretty darn good. Looks like it was the first night with the tent and many kinks needed to be worked out. Rain on your head and food is not pleasant. It was also pretty cold outside, none of the heaters were next to customers or even being used. This pandemic sucks and everyone is working hard to make things work and I’m sorry to bring it up, but if you want people to come sit down, the outside area needs attention.
Laurelhurst Market continues to impress us each and every time we go back! Their service is absolutely incredible, friendly, fast, and truly care about their customers. The food is next to none, delicious sides, yummy drinks, and their meat selection is mouth watering. My husband and I come here anytime we can get a night away and are never disappointed!
Come here very often. The service is wonderful and fast! They remembered me after the second time and always make me feel welcome when I come in. Tuesdays at the lunch counter is their fried chicken sandwich day and it is INCREDIBLE. I get it without the franks red hot, but thats just me. A fried chicken sandwich and a ginger beer is the perfect lunch there. Especially on a hot day!
Great food and service everytime.
Giving this spot less than 5 stars would just feel wrong. Best service I’ve had maybe ever. Drinks were spectacular, food was so fresh and tasty. Overall experience = 6 stars. Really enjoyed my visit, thanks!
